Babies are popping out and were turning into a group of mummies not preggos Grin.

I thought I'd start a new thread over here where we can hold hands through sore nips, milky sick, explosive poo and lack of sleep. Along with super cute newborn snuggles of course!

Joining in, if you don't mind.

I was origin on the March '04 thread, but little missy arrived on Valentine's day, 3 weeks early, weighing 7lb 5oz.

She was kept in for a few days for treatment of jaundice, but is now better.

I had an EMCS due to placental abruption, so still recovering from that.

Baby is Ffeeding (every 4/5 hours) and sleeping well, so farm..

Wuxiapian · 23/02/2014 06:57

Tut.

Excuse poor grammer. You get the gist.

Wuxiapian · 23/02/2014 06:57

Grammar.

What the heck?!

laura0007 · 23/02/2014 08:00

Welcome wux!
Bugsy I know exactly how you feel. I just stare at DS and cry because I can't believe he's actually here and he's mine! Bloody loopy I tell ya...!

KalevalaForMePlease · 23/02/2014 10:29

Hi all, checking in. Maria is doing well, breastfeeding so far is working. I'm so pleased because it didn't work well last time. She's currently snoozing on my chest, her favourite place. Smile

misskatamari · 23/02/2014 12:31

Welcome Wux - my little lady was three weeks early too - bit of a surprise Grin. Glad yours is feeding well and over the jaundice.

I feel like I had bags of sleep last night as I think Artemis slept from about midnight to half 5 (with a short half a sleep feed somewhere in the middle). I'm sure it's the cosleeping as she just settles happily with us and it's great not to have the mammoth two hour+ sessions of feeding, burping, putting down, doing again etc as she can just feed lying next to me. She's still a greedy gannet in the day but that's much more manageable. PIL are coming up to visit today which will be lovely as they haven't met her yet. DH is very excited about getting them to baby sit so we can go and see the Lego movie at the cinema, bless him Smile

Time for a bath seeing as DH is at home. Going to read my kindle for a bit which is a blissful treat, and then time for more snuggles

Thanks, laura and miss!

They're amazing, little miracles, aren't they? I find myself cradling onto baby way after she's drifted off to sleep as in just totally besotted with her. She's my 3rd child, but only daughter - not sure if that's why...

Enjoy the PIL visitation, miss!!

EeyoreIsh · 23/02/2014 14:24

They are amazing miracles! I love baby cuddles, as does DH. He got all upset just now when I took dd of him to feed her, the soppy thingGrin she's comfort feeding on my boob now though Hmm

LovesToBake · 23/02/2014 23:38

Just discovered you all on this thread so checking in. DD had her 5 day check this morning and despite being a whopping 9lb 1oz at birth, she did me (and the boobs) proud by having only dropped less than a quarter of an ounce (5g) of her birth weight. Such a nice reassurance that all is well with the feeding and also that the tongue tie division she had on day 1 was totally worthwhile as she's feeding so efficiently - totally different to the early weeks with DS who had a tongue tie that was diagnosed and then divided very late on. Her feeds are only ever 5-10 mins at the moment which amazes me but I can hear her chugging down the milk so it's clearly working.

Anyway, she's snoozing on my chest right now and I'm going to try yet another transfer into her Moses basket which probably won't work but I'm determined to get her in there sooner rather than later - so far the only night time sleep we've managed has been co-sleeping in bed with me...

CubanoHabana · 24/02/2014 06:08

I can't believe baby cubano is a week old today!

Poppy954 · 24/02/2014 06:13

Just checking in. DD is 9 days old today and is a dream baby. We are getting one 4-5 hr stretch every night in the crib and longer periods of settled (awake or asleep) time through the day. My nipples feel more normal again and I've remembered how easy bf is when it's established. Dad, big brothers and wider family all besotted with her.

HopeS01 · 24/02/2014 07:22

Good morning, so glad to read that everyone is doing well Smile

Anyone having any troubles with wind or colic? Hugo seemed to be a bit uncomfortable yesterday evening so I'm trying some Infacol.

Fingers crossed....

Wuxiapian · 24/02/2014 07:31

Good morning, Hope.

My LO is fairly windy, but it leaves via her bottom. I wind her for ages after feeds - doesn't seem to make any difference.

Fingers crossed the infacol helps.

LovesToBake · 24/02/2014 08:11

Success! Rosie managed two stints of sleep in the Moses basket last night, one was 1hr40mins and the other 1hr so it's not impossible! She was doing longer stints in bed with me (and does longer daytime naps in the basket no probs) but I was a lot more relaxed with her sleeping in the basket so hopefully she'll increase her sleep times in there now.

I have to say so far she is a super easy baby - everything people told me to expect of a second DC. She is so relaxed and spends good periods of the time during the day awake but settled (something DS never did) and will nap either being cuddled/passed around by visitors or in her basket or the cocoon part of the Phil & Teds double buggy. I am enjoying every second, I'm absolutely smitten.

lastnightopenedmyeyes · 24/02/2014 11:06

I've dropped off both threads! Just marking place again Smile

lastnightopenedmyeyes · 24/02/2014 11:11

I'm not doing a dummy this time (I did with DS just for some reason don't want to with Olivia). But a tip for those who are trying to get their little one to take a dummy. When you've placed the dummy in their mouth give it a gentle pull, this encourages them to suck it and if you do this a few times they'll start sucking and the dummy will stay in. Wink

Thingymajigs · 24/02/2014 11:36

Sorry for the self indulgent post but I'm feeling quite down today and I don't want to bother any family members. After being SPD free during the third trimester I am now unable to walk without shuffling at 3 weeks postpartum. I think I might need crutches. Sad The GP was dismissive and said it would be better in a week but its getting worse. It's quite demoralising because I feel so good in every other way but I'm unable to get back to any level of normality. I can't even pick ds2 up from school today and I don't think I'll be doing any school runs or leaving the house for quite a while. If I had this during pregnancy I would be able to focus on an end date but I have no idea if this is now a permanent condition. Ds2 is sad because I can't take him ice - skating and I can't even say when or if I ever will be able to. This might be easier if I could drive but DP has the car and I have a driving phobia anyway.
Ok, post over. Sorry for that I just wanted to get it out.

lastnightopenedmyeyes · 24/02/2014 11:50

Oh thingy that's awful. I do hope you get some relief soon. I can imagine how depressing that must be Sad

jazzcat28 · 24/02/2014 12:01

thingy sorry to hear you're in so much pain, can you self-refer to physio perhaps? Are you still getting midwife visits at home? Is there an alternative doctor you can see at your surgery? Sounds like a horrible position to be in and I'd be asking everyone for help.

lovestobake so glad the tongue tie has been identified and sorted. You must feel so much more relaxed and confident in bf (and it's obviously working if she's gaining weight so well!)

I'm waiting in on a health visitor and midwife today. Hoping mw will discharge me. Want to quiz both of them about DD's poo. She is bottle fed Cow & Gate (yep I'm a chav mum if you believe some of the stuff on the internet!). For the first week she had 'chicken korma' nappies which we were told was totally normal. The past 5-6 days she's doing fewer dirty nappies (still lots of wet ones) and the poo is more dog poo like - a little pile in the nappy. Sometimes still hanging out of her little bottom. She's also gurning/grunting a lot more than the first week, which I think is her trying to poo - I wonder if she's a little constipated? If it's still coming out twice or three times a day is it a problem though? She's not crying in pain or discomfort.

Other than the poo niggle she is the perfect baby. Perhaps because she's ff but she sleeps for 3-4 hrs at a time, day or night, and has settled in her moses basket since first night home for her naps. She just had a lovely 1hr nap with me on my chest and is now sound asleep in her basket.

I am totally in love Smile

Thingymajigs · 24/02/2014 12:50

I'm seeing the HV on Wednesday so I could ask her for her opinion then. I'm so annoyed at the GP. She just sent me off with a sample pot which I can't bring back because I can't walk. I think I'd know the difference between a UTI and a misaligned pelvis. Hmm
I've had a good cry and that's all the self pity I'll allow myself. I have a gorgeous, healthy baby and I'm ok in every other way so I'm very lucky really. I just need to figure out some coping strategies for the next few months and see about self referrals.
Thanks last and jazz. Smile

It's so lovely reading how loved up everyone is with their babies. Mine is snoring away again on my chest with his little hand grasping onto my hair (probably a safety measure incase I attempt to put him in the Moses basket- what a pointless item that is).

lastnightopenedmyeyes · 24/02/2014 14:01

Jazz I have a good sleeper too Grin Feel like I earned one after DS who woke every 90 mins. She feeds well (BF) and sleeps in her Moses basket with no problems. Such a relief as I was expecting her to be sleep averse like DS Grin

TeaAddict235 · 24/02/2014 16:22

Can't beleiver the luck that some of you are having: 3-4 hours of sleep at a time. Little Mr Teaaddict235 only sleeps for 1.5 hours max at night or 2 hours during the day, before chomping at the bit(breast) for 15 mins.

How do I make him sleep for longer? No, don't answer that, i'll just accept that all babies are different. I love that we are starting to see a bit more od his personality now.

laura0007 · 24/02/2014 16:47

Jazz, DS is on aptamil and his poo is the same, I mentioned it to the health visitor and she said as long as it's not hard or he is really straining to push it out there's no problem. She said you can always give a little bit of cooled boiled water to help things along too.
I just wish he would go longer than 2.5 hours between feeds!!!

jazzcat28 · 24/02/2014 21:38

I asked both mw and hv about the poo and they said to offer cool boiled water to help. Am going to try tomorrow but not sure she will be keen! Today during a nappy change it was like a play doh machine coming out (sorry if tmi!) she does grunt and scrunch her face up when doing one, but guessing not painful as she's not crying?

Realise we are very lucky with the sleeping, but I guess there is still plenty of time for her to switch things up as she is only 2 wks old tomorrow!

TeaAddict235 · 26/02/2014 18:33

Are any of you ladies managing to sleep when the baby sleeps? I can't manage it as little Tea sleeps at random times of the day when I need to do stuff e.g. Laundry.
