Hi all - the old thread was about to run out so I started a new one.

Little Miss was up to mischief last night. Thankfully it's DHs day off today so he took her into bed with him while I slept in the spare room. She is just so excitable when she wakes up at night. It can can 90 minutes to scrape her off the ceiling.

It's interesting! They're a pooing tag team most days too which can get frustrating. And hilarious. :-)

DS is a better sleeper than DD was. We've had some feeding issues with latch refusal, but that's hopefully coming to an end now.

Keeping DD entertained in this awful weather is tricky. We try to take her out at least once a day. We need the holidays to end so all the children's centre stuff starts again.

But overall it's great! Love being mummy to 2!

Lily sounds adorable. :-)

SweetPeaPods · 01/08/2014 17:23

Glad it's going well. How are you finding bedtime? DH works shifts so I'm starting to panic about how I'm going to do bath & bed on my own!
Ds is a nightmare sleeper at minute so praying all settles down for October !

Mrs81 · 01/08/2014 18:56

I'm glad it's going well Hungry Smile A lot can change sleepwise Sweetpea on a short time so hopefully things settle down soon for you.

DS has decided to be an oral anomaly. He currently has two molars cutting through (normal) but also a canine. Either that or the BIGGEST gap between two incisors. Who knows.
Anyway, he survived week 1 of nursery Grin Aside from a spot of hunger strike, he has coped remarkably well. I'm so proud of him!

HungryHorace · 01/08/2014 19:13

DD's sleep went to pot for a few days. It's still not quite right, but improving.

DS just sleeps on one of us til we go to bed, so isn't involved in the bedtime equation yet. We shall see how that goes in a few months' time. If DH wasn't here I'd just put him in the crib while I sorted DD. We don't do a bath every night anyway, so our routine consists of putting DD into bed really!

SunnyL · 02/08/2014 23:27

Sounds like you guys have got it sorted. my memory is Lily never slept at all for the first 3 months but maybe the circuit board in my head is playing tricks on me Angry .

Quick poll. What size nappies are your LOs wearing? DH thinks we need to go up a size but I think the child needs to stop wriggling during nappy change.

SweetPeaPods · 03/08/2014 07:14

Hungry glad sleep is improving.
Sunny we have ds is 4+. He's also a big wriggler!

Mrs81 · 03/08/2014 11:24

We are in size 4 and will be for a bit. DS is not quite 9kg...wriggly child makes it so much harder though to get the nappy on properly!

HungryHorace · 04/08/2014 00:42

We are size 4 for days and 4+ for nights for extra absorbency. We have the nappy change escape artist on our hands!

SunnyL · 05/08/2014 07:33

smashing thanks. We use reusable nappies during the day so buying a pack of disposables can last use ages. We're still in 4's as well its just she rarely lies down after her bath to let me put it on Wink

RueDeWakening · 12/08/2014 14:10

M is in 4+ in the day and 5s overnight. He's 13kgs though Shock and tall too, the rise on the bigger nappies is better I find.

Mrs81 · 12/08/2014 18:38

Wow Rue. Is he walking yet? and maybe needs less carrying?

DS started nursery properly this week and I started my new job. Crumbs. Using my brain for entire days is going to get a bit of getting used to again Wink Deep joy though, I have somehow blagged an entire room to myself in a very busy department. Having had a stint of open plan office space, the chitchat is fun but jolly distracting!

RueDeWakening · 12/08/2014 20:56

Yes, he's been walking for about 6 weeks now - he's bloody mobile, and likes nothing more than climbing onto chairs, standing up and bouncing against the back, flinging himself over the arm of the sofa and laughing hysterically when I catch him by the ankle as he disappears over the side Hmm etc etc. He's having a whale of a time at the mo, because the big two are off school/preschool and willing to entertain him quite often! DS1 is off to school in a few weeks, and DD will be a junior, I think M will be wandering around like a little lost soul once they go back :o

We've been staying with my parents in France, and he loved their swimming pool too, we swam nearly every day and he got the hang of kicking around in one of those floating seat thingys pretty quickly. I can't quite believe how quickly he's growing up though.

Did DS settle into nursery OK? I sometimes fancy going back to work just for the adult conversation so I'm not sure having my own office would suit me :o

Mrs81 · 13/08/2014 17:48

Awww, it must be totally lovely to see them playing together.

DS has coped remarkably well so far with nursery. We get tears at drop off and pick up but they last less than a minute. He's on hunger strike a lot of the time there but thankfully they have a ready supply of toast and banana. I am assured that it's a normal phase Smile

SunnyL · 13/08/2014 20:39

inspired by Rue I weighed the chuffer tonight. I was convinced I'd have the heaviest child but she was a respectable 10.7kg and back to the 75th percentile.

On other news it turns out we have the biter in the nursery. I think it's because she's learning to kiss and hasn't worked out teeth are part of the equation Angry . The bruise I had on my cheek all of last week is testament to the strength of her teeth Sad

OP posts:
MaryWestmacott · 14/08/2014 06:48

Oh, I probably should weigh dd at some point... She's in size 5.

We've suddenly got playing with older sibling now, it's lovely to hear her giggling away at him. Smile

I did a drive up north to visit their godmother the last few days, must say I'm only doing the long drive at bedtime thing from now on, much better! Oh and I know lots of people sneer at them, but a DVD player for the headrest to entertain dc1 was worth every penny! 3 hour drives are bad enough without "are we nearly there yet?"

BeanCalledPickle · 14/08/2014 20:08

Glad he is happy at nursery. I can't imagine life without nursery now. The look of sheer joy on her little face when we get there and the fun she has. I'm almost tempted to put her in full time as her days with me just don't compete. She gets bored and frustrated and I'm forever having to move things away from her. Is lily like that Sunny? Is she full time? I had guilt about three days and now I'm thinking five would be better?? Crazy how the world turns....

RueDeWakening · 14/08/2014 20:30

Mary we spent 9+ hours in the car on Monday - left my parents' at 5 am so the kids were pretty quiet for the first couple of hours. Drove about 650 kms to the ferry, 90 mins on the ferry then another 90 mins ish to get home. Got back at 6pm. Thankfully, we only to that once a year, and I'm totally planning on DVD players for next time!

SunnyL · 14/08/2014 22:12

We're 2.5days nursery and my mum does half a day. I think nursery is great. They're lovely girls who run it and they clearly enjoy doing things with the kids that would freak me out - messy play, baking with them, sandpits indoors Shock . DH also does one day a fortnight.

Now that work is calming down and they've finally employed an assistant to help me I think I've got the perfect balance. I like being a grown up and work but I love being just mummy at home even if the under 30's at work have nothing to talk with me about anymore

OP posts:
Mrs81 · 14/08/2014 23:04

Can I just say: teething is rubbish Sad Sad Sad
DS is sobbing his little heart out, DH is trying to calm him down. It's so hard. We've only recently managed to get to the point where DH can comfort and resettle him as reliably as I can but at the moment only I will do. If we run with that then I'm worried that we undo all that effort Sad

BeanCalledPickle · 15/08/2014 08:38

New Thread!

Hope this works!

hedgehogy · 15/08/2014 19:38

Just to let you know I'm going to nc for the next thread.

DD is still in size 4.
