Hi all - the old thread was about to run out so I started a new one.

Little Miss was up to mischief last night. Thankfully it's DHs day off today so he took her into bed with him while I slept in the spare room. She is just so excitable when she wakes up at night. It can can 90 minutes to scrape her off the ceiling.

I've been eBaying too...I have almost an entire 18-24 month wardrobe for little more than £20! Once I've got the parcels I'll assess and top up as required. :-)

God, it'd be cheaper to have another girl this time. But not like I get a choice, and a boy would be lovely too!

Sunbeam18 · 22/05/2014 12:56

Hey, maybe we can do our own exchanging! I've got loads of baby boy stuff you can have for free if you have a boy!

Mrs81 · 22/05/2014 13:24

Swapping between friends helps a lot with baby clothes. We were loaned loads of stuff - and have loaned things to friends also :) plus it solves the storage issue

Thank you for the kick up the arse re job application. I will apply. Not sure I meet all the non-essential criteria but it's worth a shot and is a good exercise anyway.

Mrs81 · 22/05/2014 14:43

Me again ( on a bus with wifi )
How does anyone get to playgroups etc with a baby who wants to nap? DS woke late, napped until midday so I was sure that taking him to a 2pm playgroup was a good idea - have a play then sleep on the way home - but he nodded off again just as I got there and I don't want to pay for a sleeping babe. So now we're on the bus home again!

Seriously. I've given up trying to take him to morning groups as they all start between 10 and 11 and he always sleeps then.

HungryHorace · 22/05/2014 17:20

I gave up on classes with DD for this reason as they all seemed to clash with naps or feeding.

It looks like she's dropping her afternoon nap though in favour of a long morning one, so hopefully that'll help!

And that would be amazing, Sunbeam. Thank you! :-) Can't wait to find out (but also want a fully cooked baby!).

hedgehogy · 22/05/2014 19:56

It is hard timing naps with the baby group that we go to, I've just been lucky so far. Ours is at 1pm which is a bad time for us. I have to give DD an earlier lunch and try to alter her morning nap so she's not too tired (DD would never fall asleep when out, but she'd be miserable!). Luckily, it's a short walk away (we don't have much in this area - just one shop, but at least there's a church that hosts groups!).

AlohaMama · 22/05/2014 20:58

Yeah we have the same issue. She has her morning nap really early but often doesnt' wake till 10. I wake her at 9.45 once a week to go to a group, and she's grumpy (even though she'll have had at least 1.5 hrs). There's a music and movement class at the church opp our house which I'd love to take her too but they start at 930 Sad. Figure that once she drops the morning nap we can do more stuff.

BeanCalledPickle · 22/05/2014 21:40

We are totally held hostage. Well I'm not now I'm back at work but DH is! P will predictably sleep from 1030 ish to 1230 ish. So generally only afternoon stuff worked for us. We never agree to anything before two. Notwithstanding that we do go to baby sensory at 10am. Because it's an hour of structured activity it did keep her awake. She'd crash immediately afterwards though!

RueDeWakening · 22/05/2014 22:22

I just go anyway, for the adult conversation :o It probably helps that I've been going to them for years though, and know most of the people there so there's always someone to chat with.

M is definitely heading towards one nap a day I think. But he seems to have decided that having a nap from 9.30-noon is perfectly acceptable, then being hell on earth from about 3.30 till bedtime (because he's tired) is fun and games. Or, like today, having a short nap about 3pm then not going to sleep till 9pm.

GAH.

SweetPeaPods · 23/05/2014 07:49

Completely agree with baby groups. We now only do swimming once a week. Some weeks I'm waking him up as we get dressed to go in mind, but mostly he crashes when we come out. Only prob is they changed the time so now he wants to sleep through lunch.

Mrs81 · 23/05/2014 11:05

I'm so glad it's not just me! I suppose if you have older children then babies are used to slotting in a bit more with whatever is happening around them. And maybe some babies are less fussed about when they nap...

SunnyL · 26/05/2014 07:56

Morning all ladies. The apps been broken so I haven't been on.

Yesterday was our NCTs 1st birthday party. It was great fun but tiring now that they're all so mobile. I had a drama of a morning before I got there though with a flat tyre, baby in the back and no mobile phone. Thankfully a nice man offered me his so I could get DH to come a rescue me. So thats £50 on a new tyre that I don't have - thank goodness for credit cards!

BeanCalledPickle · 27/05/2014 11:02

You are so lucky getting on so well with your NCT people. Ours just don't speak now and I've seen them once since Christmas. Guess the fact of having babies at the same time just doesn't make you automatically friends. Luckily I have a couple I picked up at children's centres and the like. They keep me sane!

Discovered baby dan magnetic locks yesterday. It kind of sticks to the inside of the door and then you hold a magnet to it to release. Is ace!

SweetPeaPods · 29/05/2014 19:59

We still meet with a couple of mums from our NCT group, but just 1 every wk. got our party in a couple of wks, should be interesting! We are starting to have very different views on parenting.

Mrs81 · 29/05/2014 22:11

oooh that must make life interesting Sweetpea! Thankfully my mummy friends are sufficiently open minded about the parenting choices that we each make. But I'm sometimes a bit Hmm at some of the gender specific comments that get thrown around (eg: telling a baby girl not to sit with her legs apart or that it's good to see a baby boy getting a bit boisterous...because he's a boy) I find myself biting my tongue occassionally!

SunnyL · 02/06/2014 07:25

Morning all. You still here?

Just picked lil up out of her cot and I think she had a nose bleed in the night as there is blood on her sheets, face and toys. Is that normal? The NHS website says nosebleeds are common in young children but how young is young?

OP posts:
HungryHorace · 02/06/2014 08:23

Oh, bless her. Has she been coldy at all? Or bunged from teething? That may have had an effect on her.

I've not heard of it being common, but I've not had to look it up.

I'd see how she is today. Xx

Mrs81 · 02/06/2014 09:24

Still here.

Yep, I'd see how she is today Sunny. If it happens again or she seems wonky then maybe check with a gp/hv.
A nose bleed can make a heck of a mess with not much blood...must have been a shock to see!

SunnyL · 02/06/2014 15:41

The joys of having a dad who is a retired GP means I now know it is perfectly normal for babies to have small nosebleeds. Of course I had to text my mother to ask him that as he keeps his phone turned off and only switches it on for emergencies! Grin

OP posts:
SunnyL · 02/06/2014 15:42

And yes it was pretty messy. Bunny has gone into the washing machine yet again!

OP posts:
MaryWestmacott · 02/06/2014 15:47

oh nosebleeds happen, don't worry.

DD has been ill for a week now, no sleep, and now DS is ill so definately no sleep.

It's DDs first birthday on Wednesday, how did that happen???!

I have her party on Saturday, a messy house and no energy to do anything with it. Oh well...

MaryWestmacott · 03/06/2014 14:38

OMG, my baby is 1 tomorrow, that's it, I'm out of the baby stage. I need to talk to DH about going for DC3 don't I???

Oh and how life is different now, in order for the sums to add up for me being a SAHM, DH has to take any overtime going, which means he works pretty much every Saturday morning, Saturday afternoons often have things scheduled in, so I realised I've not had my hair cut for months, just had a mobile hairdresser come round, she's done a great job, but half way through I had to give DD a finger sandwich, put Cbeebies on for DS, had to spend the rest of it with DD on my knee, it's hardly the relaxing treat getting my hair done used to be...

RueDeWakening · 03/06/2014 21:07

Mary that's how my hair gets done too :o I've had to get DS up from a nap part way through before now. DS1 that is, my hair's not been cut since before M was born...

Hope the birthday presents are all wrapped and ready to eat? Or is that just my baby? :o

SunnyL · 03/06/2014 22:31

Happy birthday for tomorrow. Its 8 days til I lose my baby and get a 1 year old instead. I think the best present I could give her is a clothes horse full of clothes for her to pull off and try to put on Grin

Hope you all enjoy today (and the party at the weekend)
