In some ways she's doing great pr. Other ways not so. Lumps are still a tricky area. She can now eat textured food so it doesn't have to be complete mush and she can happily wolf down a packet of pom bears. Mumsnet would be proud Smile. She loves self feeding which is a joy to see but it does mean her food intake has come down. Meal times are still a battle as she is desperate to eat whatever we have. My main trick at the moment is to always have peas on my plate and when she points to my food I give her a couple of peas. She seems ok at eating these as long as she doesn't shove too many in her mouth at once. She's still on the special milk. She was on 2nd centile (just) when she was weighed after christmas. Think I'll get her weighed on Thursday. No doubt I''ll update then. Thanks for asking. You probably expected a bit of a shorter answer Grin.

Morning quiche

Passmethecrisps · 05/02/2014 06:56

Morning!

Pikz · 05/02/2014 07:01

How are we mrs crisps?

StuntNun · 05/02/2014 07:02

Morning folks! Another non-sleep through here but I'm going to try and wear him out at the babywearing meet today. I'm actually wondering if I need to put him to bed earlier that 7:30 as he's down to one nap a day now so he's sleeping longer at night than he was. The only problem is it's quite chaotic here so quite often we end up eating late and a 7:30 bedtime is easily achieved. On the other hand we have a no screens after 7:30 rule so DS1 and DS2 usually start making a lot of noise once they've stopped being hypnotised by games and TV just when I'm trying to get J to sleep.

Morning all. I will look out some scotch eggs. I looked at one pack months ago and it contained milk so thought they all did. Very excited at the prospect of sausage rolls too.

Pikz · 05/02/2014 07:45

Trying to find outfit suitable for corporate office but I can wear wellies with to do nursery run and we are late euregggh

StormyIsles · 05/02/2014 08:03

Pikz I wear dressed to work most days and throw on a pair of wellies to walk the dog.

StormyIsles · 05/02/2014 08:03

Dresses. I go to work dressed everyday. Blush

Lily311 · 05/02/2014 08:14

isles I'm glad you get dressed for work.

Morning,

Going for music class today. The first one I could find nearby. Than going to pay my electricity bill. Exciting day.

Insomnia kicked in at 2, gave up trying to sleep at 4 so watched 2 episodes of dexter.

Sophiathestormfairy · 05/02/2014 08:28

Dresses pikz the old faithful shift dress is always my fave when I am working. Or a wrap dress.

That's for all your encouragement last night. I will definitely take you all up on your read through offers if I need to flam it up further for use outside my company/industry. Big love going out to all of you.

What's the latest with the roof bp?

Good luck for Thurs eliza

O's train of thought this morning :

"Let's have a cuddle mummy, I will just climb in and nestle here. Mmmmm you have a nice newly laundered, sweet smelling jumper on. Oh just a minute.

What's this?

Snot.

I'll just nestle some more and smear it all over your shoulder."

ChasingDaisy · 05/02/2014 08:57

Morning all

Isles, I am also glad that you get dressed for work everyday Wink

Pikz - yes to a dress.

I have woken up to a snotty but happy boy this morning. He was a little clingy yesterday crying at the door when I was having my driving lesson so I wonder if it is a cold or teeth.

Quiet day here today, need to wait in for a delivery.

Pikz · 05/02/2014 09:04

Also had a heart stopping moment then I realised I hadn't read the preggers test properly! I do want a positive one but in a couple of months time or my dress won't fit!

Though now I'm a bit meh that it was negative!

Sophiathestormfairy · 05/02/2014 09:06

Hold on I missed something here.......

Sophiathestormfairy · 05/02/2014 09:17

Tell me. How do you go into a shoe shop get child measured and walk away with no shoes?

I need O measured but I want to get his shoes from the startright outlet.

Pikz · 05/02/2014 09:34

Just ask them to check his feet... Does he have shoes now? Just get them checked for size if so... If not just say you want to know so you can come back at the weekend and get some...

ditsygal · 05/02/2014 10:21

Or say you cant decide on style, or if its clarks they usually only have a few styles in each size so just say you want one of the styles they haven't got and will buy online etc.
Last time I went they were so busy they were just measuring and then leaving you to look around so that would make it easy just to leave.

Lily311 · 05/02/2014 11:35

I went in with O, asked them to measure her than said oh, little munchkin, we better come back with daddy at the weekend and choose your next shoes ;). I wish it was true though.

Music class was great, o was so sociable. I created an adorable little girl. smug.

Sophiathestormfairy · 05/02/2014 13:31

Of course you have lily glad you had a good morning.

One of the Mr Europes want to speak to me on Friday. Likes my Prince 2.

More screaming.

Question is, what he wants to talk about and the thing I need to think about, is my status. Opinions great fully received as I know lots of you have experience with freelancing etc.

So, the options are:

  1. Be seconded from my current company, mr Europe thinks my company think they have leant them enough people, however, my boss said he would look into arranging it on a secondment basis, so I plan to ask my boss to confirm that with me before Friday. I think this is my preferred option. all my travel would be covered
  2. Be a direct employee of them? Would I get a relocation allowance that I could use for travel etc? Hmmmm. I would not be moving, I have just moved here FFS
  3. Be a contractor. How the F does this work oh wise ones? Would I have to set up my own company? This one is scary beans but I suspect my second choice. I imagine I would have more say over my hours etc.

Might delegate the shoe buying/lyeing to DH on Sat!

Pikz · 05/02/2014 14:26

Secondment is easier as nothing changes.

Using a relocation allowance is difficult as what happens when it runs out?

Contracting you can either be a sole trader or a limited company.

Sole trader is simpler but more risky and you combine home and business.

A limited company keeps it private and can be more tax efficient but admin heavy to set up

YellowWellies · 05/02/2014 14:33

Sophia it's not scary beans at all. You'd just set up as a sole trader - there's no point in setting up a limited company at this stage IMHO. But it depends on the clients you are dealing with (mine are happy working with a sole trader some bigger corporates only deal with limiteds) and also any financial risks. If you have professional indemnity insurance then I don't see the benefit of going to limited status until you get to the point where it makes more sense to work under the corporation tax structure than income tax. For me and I'm probably pulling in just over the higher tax threshold annually on 2 days a week - it still makes sense to stick as a sole trader. The government's Business Gateway has loads of useful advice. But in my experience when setting up a freelance business folks (and especially women!!!) get far too hung up on the name, the structure, the logo (yes really!!!!) and making everything look pretty when really it's very minimal all you need is the workstream, the contacts and good record keeping for tax and accounting purposes. Check out this site for good advice: www.theguardian.com/small-business-network/2013/sep/12/sole-trader-limited-company-freelances

GTbaby · 05/02/2014 14:56

YW wtf! How much on TWO days a week!
I need to change jobs.

ChasingDaisy · 05/02/2014 15:24

Had a wrangle with XP over maintenance today. I won. O is now posting puzzle pieces into my mouth and putting the box on my head, whilst watching Countdown.

ditsygal · 05/02/2014 16:13

Well done chasing!

ChasingDaisy · 05/02/2014 16:14

O has been polishing the fridge for half an hour now. I've never seen him so content.
