Thinking of you salt at what muost be an unimaginable time. Hope your friends and family are rallying round you.

meringue33 · 10/04/2014 22:18

We are here Salt promise to shout if you need us x

MrsBug very impressed with all the signs. Really wish I'd persevered with baby sign now as we don't have any words yet, though very communicative.

Is it normal to have depth perception issues at this age? I've noticed LO often finds it really hard to gauge how high a step is; he sometimes thinks just a 1cm change in level needs a big step up, other times he doesn't even notice a 10cm drop and I need to grab him before he falls.

mrsbug · 10/04/2014 22:43

Meringue I've not noticed that... Dd is prone to tumbles because she rarely pays any attention to where she is going like her dad.

I'm glad we did the baby signing, dd only has a couple of words but 'chats' away constantly with her signs.

glorious · 11/04/2014 07:59

meringue it's not too late to sign, they pick it up very quickly at this age. Just look some up and start! We have about 15 here and she even uses two or three together sometimes (more milk please sticks in my mind!). So useful! It's good when they're trying to say the word too but it's indistinct as you can then tell what they mean.

lollipoppi · 11/04/2014 09:17

All this baby signing is amazing!! So cleaver Smile

I've noticed that DDs right foot turns in sometimes when walking, thought nothing of it but my mum picked up on it too yesterday, something to be worried about or will it just correct itself?

lollipoppi · 11/04/2014 09:18

Clever not cleaver Smile

AppleCrumples · 11/04/2014 10:16

Mightlook up the signs too. Ivy is trying to talk, can almost say grace which is sweet.

Had assembly this morning = half hour of trying to keep Ivy both quiet and still..am shattered :)

mrsbug · 11/04/2014 11:51

Lolli I would mention it to the HV...it is probably normal but I have a hip problem which wasn't noticed till I started walking. Where I live the HV clinic has a drop in session with a physiotherapist once every couple of months, that would be the ideal place to get it looked at.

The thing I love about signing is the insight into what dd is thinking; for example there is a garden near us where a friendly cat sometimes sits, and every time we go past dd signs cat, whether it is there or not.

Tugstonia · 11/04/2014 15:56

Salt thinking of you and sending you and DD love xx

Glorious sorry to hear sleep is still poo :( and that work is super busy. Hope you can get a break this weekend.

Hope those with snotty babies are ok. DD just getting over an ear infection. She's not a fan of the banana medicine.

I'm sitting here covered in fake tan in anticipation of a wedding tomorrow. I've never had a spray tan before and the beautician told me I couldn't wash my hands or get any part of me wet for the next 8 hours ("preferably 12 hours"). Probably not the wisest thing for me to have done with a small child... Ho hum.

AppleCrumples · 11/04/2014 19:12

Ivy sat on our front step today..then threw herself forward suddenly and fell off. One bumped head with a big lump and a graze..ooops.. Blush

She had her first haircut yesterday and was as good as gold thankfully especially as she looked like cousin it before we went

Hope all the snotty babies feelinf better and sleeplesss babies are sleeping

lollipoppi · 11/04/2014 21:00

Oh no apple poor Ivy
1st haircut Shock ivy must have a good head of hair! Darcie's is getting to shoulder length but it's quite thin so looking a bit scraggly now

lollipoppi · 11/04/2014 21:02

Posted too soon ....
Tugs how's the tan looking? Hope you have a lovely day at the wedding tomorrow.

Mrsbug I make her an appt for next week, I'm not worried, well I wasn't until my mum pointed it out!

AppleCrumples · 11/04/2014 21:30

lolli she has loads which is good as her fringe is hiding her huge bump quite well

Hopefully it is nothing won't mention when ds1 walked funny once and i panicked and took him to a&e, absolutely nothing wrong with him

meringue33 · 13/04/2014 14:53

Cool must give the signs another go!

We've had an exciting day out at the farm too. First time he's been really old enough to take it all in. Stayed a bit too long though and ended up having a meltdown in the tiny tractor barn...

JuniperTisane · 13/04/2014 18:36

Just back from Brands Hatch at the Truckfest. Brilliant day although both boys have sunburnt cheeks Blush

glorious · 14/04/2014 17:34

tugs sounds like the perfect excuse not to change any nappies Grin How was the wedding?

juniper sounds fun. The sun took me by surprise too. Our neighbours chopped a huge tree down on Saturday so our garden now actually gets daylight!

E took her first unaided steps yesterday, I think by mistake but so exciting! We persuaded her to do it a couple of times more too. She's picked up a new favourite phrase from DH too: 'oh wow', so cute!

Polyethyl · 14/04/2014 18:35

My baby is such a boob monster. She tugs at my shirt to tell me when to get my tits out. Then claps and giggles with glee as I unbutton my shirt. And then pounces on my nipple - it's such a diving on/lunging movement. Nothing gentle about her.
I keep asking her when she is going to give up breastfeeding - she just laughs at me.

newbie6 · 14/04/2014 19:23

Hi everyone,

I need help!! My DS who used to a good sleeper has turned into rip wan winkle! Every time I try and it him downhearted sits up and cries?? I literally can be over an hour to get him back to sleep. He is often up 3 sometimes 4 times in the night? He eats reasonably well and only has one nap a day or if he has 1 naps, he never has more than 2 hrs sleep or does he sleep after 3pm. Losing the will to live at the moment as working full time too :( please tell me how to fix this! Have tried leaving him to cry but doesn't seem to work either? Any ideas? Z

newbie6 · 14/04/2014 19:25

Pesky phone! Was trying to say when I go to put him in his cot at bedtime he sits up and cries, even though he was fast asleep on me. Also I don't let him sleep after 3pm if I can! X

fourlegstwolegs · 14/04/2014 22:32

Salt I hope you are coping as well as you can...

Poly that's funny. I still breastfeed morn and eve but for some reason I'm now embarrassed about it and don't like people knowing. Strange.

Newbie oh dear - no advice other than stick to your guns and hope its just a phase!

Munchkin now "talks" - well, he thinks he is talking. He copies the intonation of the way we speak but its all total gobbledegook. It's very cute though. He is also trying to run (as of today) but his running just involves frantic limb movements and bottom wiggling but at no stage is he ever actually airborne!

lollipoppi · 15/04/2014 13:32

Grin fourlegs that made me chuckle

Hope everyone is enjoying the sunshine, need to whip DP arse into gear and get the garden sorted, he is out working from 6am - 7pm so not getting my hopes up!
I decided to clean the outside play house this morning, turned round to find DD sat in the huge bucket of water I was using to clean it Shock

glorious · 17/04/2014 09:50

salt thinking of you.

How are you as well fourlegs ? I'm a bit more hesitant talking about bf or feeding in public now too. I'm just not keen on the discussion, though it's something I'd defend strongly if pushed.

JuniperTisane · 17/04/2014 21:13

Busy busy busy week! I'm shattered after sending my brother and his wife off, they have been staying since monday and are off on holiday tonight. DH and I got to go out just us yesterday for the first time in months and months. We went to see Elbow at the O2, had dinner, had a drink, got home after midnight and everything! Wonderful.

E will be giving Dan a run for his money Glorious. There's no stopping them once they get going. You should get her Wow said the Owl. She can say Wow on every page.

Dan still feeds twice a day and I see no reason to change that. I don't feed in public because I don't need to but I wouldn't not, iyswim. I don't talk about it with my family but they know I still feed and I'm pretty sure DHs family don't know at all. No reason they should really.

DS1 3.6 still has one small feed every day or two, he's slowly dropping it. I should think he will be done before his 4th birthday in september.

Salt Flowers Stay strong for Floss x

Birdies · 17/04/2014 21:37

Haven't posted for a while, hope everyone's ok. salt thinking of you and hope you and Floss are doing ok and have lots of support.

juniper I don't get why people find bf funny even with older children. I spose the magazine photos where the kid is stood up on a chair look a bit odd, but it's still just breastmilk.

I've spent a while adjusting to get to apple and fourlegs routines and I can tell you it works! Thanks. Well, I think it's similar anyway. 7am awake (often later), nap only ever between 1-3pm (sometimes shorter but doesn't start earlier), asleep at 8pm. Of course whenever I announce that sleep is good, it seems to change, but am daring to say something! I also read leaving them awake at this age for more than 5.5 hours between sleeps = overtired so need to try to keep awake time to 5-5.5 hours and that has worked for me too. newbie not sure if that helps but thought I would say in case trying a new routine might help.

"Bottom wiggling" that is cute fourlegs! How are you doing as well, hope you are ok?

Not that much new to say, have lots of running about, still eating everything inedible she can find and saying a few different words now. We got waving and pointing in the end so I finally stopped worrying (except about the uneven leggies but doesn't seem to have slowed her down!) :)

JuniperTisane · 18/04/2014 09:14

Hey Birdies nice to see you. I wish Dan would go down to one nap but he just doesn't cope at all if he's up all morning. Tears and meltdown from my little tantrumy boy.

I opened the back door this morning to feed the cats and he threw himself on the floor in big woe-is-me tears because I wouldn't let him throw himself off the doorstep Hmm

Off to hunt the Gruffalo at Bedgebury today.
