August 2005 - The One With All The Birthdays!!!

Here we are everyone, a new thread, as promised ready for all these little ones to turn one.

Here's the link to the old thread

Miaou, I was just thinking of doing the exact same thing the other day, so much better than a baby book, as it really does record all of the milestones as they happen.

Another milestone today, ds2's first visit to the dentist. He was ever so good he let the dentist look at his teeth, which his brother never did. In fact the dentist got his first look at ds1's teeth ever today and it was his fourth visit!

We're all set for his birthday tomorrow, but I'm tired, it's hard work having 2 birthdays in a week and DH is thirty 2 weeks today, TOO MANY BIRTHDAYS!!!!! We're having friends round for an afternoon barbecue (DH will be getting in touch with his inner caveman over an open fire ) and people are dropping in as and when. Just hope that his cake is OK when it's delivered tonight.

Let you all know how things went after the party.

Josey that sounds awful, ds has been quite grumpy i keep thinking he might have something wrong with his ear cos he keeps itching it but he doesnt seem poorly enough for it to be an ear infection, dont want to take him to the Gp cos they always say he is teething when I take him for a he must be ill checkup . What to do eh? I was reading some book where the author said everytime her daughter was driving her to the end of her tether with some annoying behaviour the dd would seem to know mummy cant take it any more and stop just in time! fingers crossed

Wow Azure glad you had and are continuing to have such fab bday celebrations!

Miaou · 29/09/2006 23:29

Hello everyone. Sorry to hear about dd, josey - could she have an ear infection? Or glue ear? Yorkiegirl's dd2 did perma-screaming for while (she's a bit older though) and it turned out to be glue-ear.

I am moving house on Sunday (eeek!!) - ds is most intrigued at the piles of boxes everywhere! Still not walking, but cruising around a bit, and he has stopped talking as much too - but I'm not too worried (yet!!). He loves to tickle my dds' feet when they are sitting on the sofa - and says "tickitickiticki" whilst he does it

Kind of sleeping through the night - goes down around 7.30pm, has a dream feed (b/f) at about 11pm (um, it'll be late tonight then ) and an early morning feed at about 6am.

josey · 30/09/2006 00:00

thanks for the sympathy girls believe me its much needed!! Im have been trying to monitor it the last couple of days and Im starting to think its an attention thing, like when you making dinner, eating, doing ds homework that kind of thing, dh is away so much just now i have seen him 9 days this months so dont really have anyone to take over when doing these other things, Pookey hoping your right!!!and she will stop. She went to bed at a normal time tonight so fingers crossed we have a turn around - though she bit my finger so hard today i have a bruised nail and cut - oh the joys!!!!

Maiou hope all goes really well for you move are you going far? my work at the moment has me covering the lochaber area so im finding out about all the small places in your area!! not sure if you get the lochaber news dd is number 58 this week and brambalinas Jaxon is in again

talking of ear infections does anyone else notice there los having very dirty ears?? dds seem to get minging really quickly and trying to get cotton buds near her is a task and a half!!

have MMr booked for Thurday, just going to go for it this time, i left ds till he was 5 as at the time he was due to get it the paper and news we going mad about it and it was higher risk for boys and at the 18months when the mmr was given is the age the tell, so it was less of a risk to have at that age, i think that is why the get it done earlier now, though i could very well be talking rubbish, i have no brain function these days sorry for waffeling

Miaou · 30/09/2006 07:53

Not going far Josey, but further west (!) - to Lochaline (from the quite remote to the very remote, aye!)

josey · 30/09/2006 12:35

wow Maiou that is west!! are you able to drive back and fore or is that ferry only? I hope you have a huge freezer for the winter months, good luck with it all, how is you dd now has she settled any?

Miaou · 30/09/2006 20:56

Yes, about as west as you get without falling in the sea! Have a lovely view of Mull from my window . We are still connected to the mainland, but a looooong way from FW (about 40 miles and a ferry ride!!) - so the next db will deffo have to be a homebirth!

Dd2 is ok just now - thanks for asking! - however we're a little concerned about how this move is going to affect her - a bit of a "watch this space" I think.

suzi2 · 01/10/2006 09:59

Hello ladies. I must confess, I sort of forgot about you all! When you vanished from my "threads I'm on" you seemed to go from my memory too! Blame preggy brain. I'll read everything properly later, but must sayd that Josey, we have a squealy, whingy, not very happy baby too. I have no idea what is wrong with him - he was ill last week and running a huge temperature but I thought that had all passed!

On baby 2 front, we're having a girl Very pleased. Also getting some nice kicking - I had forgotten how much it makes you smile! Pregnancy not agreeing with me at all again so this will be the last baby... .

Has tigerlion had hers yet? I think it's this month she's due. And miaou - I'm going for homebirth this time so I'll let you know how it is... I think given all your midnight ferry journeys with your DS that would be a good choice!

josey · 01/10/2006 17:19

glad your DD2 is ok just now hope it continues - DS is kicking off a bit about us moving in a few months its world war 3 eary day as he has it in his head if he is naughty and mean we wont go, he has also put a wall up and wont listen to anything.

I think i homebirth is a very good plan unless you get a shot of a chopper!!

sorry your feeling so rotten suzi - congrats on having a girl though, im glad to here im not the only one with a squealer though im sure thats the last thing you need being pg - dd has slept loads this weekend and has only squealed a couple of times so hoping this is the end of it, though keeping my hopes under cover!

PanicPants · 01/10/2006 21:27

Hi all. Ds is quite grumpy too at the moment, which I'd put down to him teething and the change in routine with me going back to work.
I've hardly seen him this week with the ofsted (which went well) some days he was in bed when I got home - now I know how dp feels somedays

Although reading all your posts - maybe it's a phase they all go through at this age.

Ds had his MMR on monday - decided to just go and do it. So far he seems fine, no reaction at all other than horrid nappies the last few days.

kate100 · 02/10/2006 08:49

I haven't posted on here for ages, sorry everyone

DS2 had his MMR at the beginning of September and apart from sone unpleasant nappies he was fine. However, a week later he was really poorly with a really high temperature and almost liquid nappies, so I panicked and thought the jab had done smoething to him, but it turned out he had crypto-speridium(sp)!!! Which he caught from a cow at a farm park when we went camping. I even had enviromental health at my house trying to work out where he'd caught it. However, he's fully recovered and back to his old self. He's starting top take a ew steps, but as he's so tall he finds it difficult to balance. The HV said it may take him a while to get the hang of it.

Hope you are all OK, happy belated birthday Azure and hope the move goes OK Miaou.

Will try to post again soon, but DS1 has his hernia op this week so I shall be very busy again.

OP posts:
PanicPants · 02/10/2006 20:47

Kate-hope all goes well with ds1's hernia op, bless him.

Ds's nappy's are horrid - all mucusy - which I'm assuming is to do with his mmr, definitely not been near any cows!

Tigerlion · 03/10/2006 21:12

No, still waiting for baby to make an appearance. Due date is next Monday but think that I have started to get a few contractions. All very strange yet wonderful going through this the second time.

Can't wait to see DS when he meets the baby. Don't know what labour will be like this time around but hope it goes nice and quickly. Got a friend's hen night tomorrow. Maybe the excitement will hurry things along somewhat if I don't make it to the hospital beforehand. I am now realising that 14 months is a fairly small age gap but hope it will all be worthwhile in the end!

Azure · 04/10/2006 08:48

Wow, I hope it all goes well Tigerlion. I bet DS will seem enormous compared to the baby. I find it impossible to imagine having a newborn again (let alone the birth) - in my mind my DS2 is still a baby (admittedly a big, walking one).

Kate100 sorry to hear about DS2's strange illness, poor thing. I hope DS1's op and recovery goes well.

Miaou good luck with the house move.

PanicPants · 04/10/2006 20:26

Good luck for Monday (if on time) tigerlion. Can't imagine having another one yet, but part of me is really envious

Ds is still my baby, and think he always will be!

How is the move going miaou?

Miaou · 04/10/2006 20:48

I'm in!! Still got loads of unpacking to do but we are here and starting to relax. I am going to mums and toddlers on Friday and the dds have started school here this week - all going very well so far- ds seems to be settling in nicely too!

PanicPants · 04/10/2006 21:27

Thats great Miaou!

Congratulations on your lovely new home.

pookey · 06/10/2006 14:24

Hi all - wow you have all been busy I feel jolly dull! Hows it going Tigerlion Homebirths are fab even though I ended up transferring to hospital I def reccommend it.

josey · 06/10/2006 17:21

DD got MMR and that other thing i can say yesterday she took it rather well and hoping there will be no side affects as we fly to Euro Disney on Monday morning!!

Glad the move has gone well Maiou.

Kate hope you boys are better soon and the op goes ok.

Good luck Tigerlion hope to hear of a new baby on my return

Azure · 07/10/2006 15:27

Josey, have a great time at EuroDisney - we went there in April.

Azure · 13/10/2006 22:31

Helloooooo, where's everyone gonr? We're off on holiday tomorrow (Marbella) so am fully expecting 2.5 hours of hell on the flight - DS2 is extremely unlikely to get the concept of sitting quietly on my lap. At the moment the stress of packing everything dominates (the flight is 7.55am) but I'm sure it'll be good once we're there. Have a good week.

pookey · 14/10/2006 17:02

Hey Azure have a great time -ah the jet set life! No one should mind baby antics on such a short flight a mate took her ds (a sep baby) to Brazil on her own and had some really rude woman sitting next to her swearing under her breath about the baby who was actually behaving quite well . she took lots of small toys in a lunch box for him to play with.

PanicPants · 14/10/2006 19:46

Have a lovely time Azure

Ds has been ill all week, with a rash, bad nappies, streaming nose etc. Dr said it was a delayed reaction to the mmr

BlackMagicMiaou · 14/10/2006 20:04

Well, ds had his MMR last Friday and has been a bit under the weather, with a rash round his face and bottom and he has been a bit clingy, but otherwise OK. He took his first step a couple of days ago - !!!!! Just the one, lol! But he is on his feet the whole time and trying to stand up from sitting, so he knows what he wants now, as opposed to being happy to crawl everywhere

I have also given up breastfeeding this week - I was doing two feeds (late evening and first thing in the morning) and intended to drop the morning one first, then the evening one a week later - but he slept through the evening one so I ended up dropping them both at once!! OUCH - rockboobs'R'us - still taking ages to settle down. But ds is happy enough and I am quite enjoying having my body back. I thought I would be sad and miss it but I don't

PanicPants · 14/10/2006 20:25

Well done to Miaou's ds! Thought ds had got away without having a reaction as his MMR was 2 and a half weeks ago.

Glad you aren't missing the breastfeeding but feel for your boobs!

pookey · 14/10/2006 20:48

Oh thats cool Miaou I had ds down to one feed every day or two but thats gone right out the window cos he had a cold. Would be lovely to have it over and done with without a hitch like for you.
