August 2005 - The One With All The Birthdays!!!

Here we are everyone, a new thread, as promised ready for all these little ones to turn one.

Here's the link to the old thread

Miaou, I was just thinking of doing the exact same thing the other day, so much better than a baby book, as it really does record all of the milestones as they happen.

Another milestone today, ds2's first visit to the dentist. He was ever so good he let the dentist look at his teeth, which his brother never did. In fact the dentist got his first look at ds1's teeth ever today and it was his fourth visit!

We're all set for his birthday tomorrow, but I'm tired, it's hard work having 2 birthdays in a week and DH is thirty 2 weeks today, TOO MANY BIRTHDAYS!!!!! We're having friends round for an afternoon barbecue (DH will be getting in touch with his inner caveman over an open fire ) and people are dropping in as and when. Just hope that his cake is OK when it's delivered tonight.

Let you all know how things went after the party.

Josey - he's much much better today thanks, in fact I think it was just a 24 hour thing.

Just had a massive tantrum though, when I wouldn't let him take every single cd out the cupboard and throw them on the floor. I shut the the door and he screamed at me, he then picked up his shoe and threw it at me!

He's never done that before! I tried to keep my voice neutral and carried on chatting away to him. If he does it again, I'll get up and wal away from him.

Little monkey.

queenrollo · 03/11/2006 19:29

tantrums here too......if i go down the hall to the bedroom i let ds wander in and out of our room and his nursery while i potter about. i have to pick him up to bring him back into the living room and as soon as i shut the door he screams and throws himself dramatically against the door! i really have to try not to laugh because it is so cute. now he's discovered how to throw a wobbly he's doing it every time we stop him doing undesirable things.......which, lets face it, is just about everything they want to do!!
i can't believe so many of us are embarking on the journey of pregnancy again! i really do want ds to have a sibling, and on my good days i think maybe i could handle it, but on my bad days i know it wouldn't be a good idea to give in to daydreams and have another one so soon. in fact i shouldn't entertain the thought until i can drive because i'm isolated enough with one!

PanicPants · 03/11/2006 21:38

Queenrollo, you're right they are so funny when they have a tantrum. Do you get the 'face' where they look straight at you as if they are accusing you of being so unfair?

queenrollo · 04/11/2006 14:18

oh yes ds has whole collection of 'looks'.....i am reliably informed by dp that he has inherited them all from me!

colinandcaitlinsmommy · 04/11/2006 17:23

Hi, things not very well here right now, but have already posted a very ranty thread about it, so don't want to whine twice. Caitlin is really expanding her vocabulary now. She's got much more of a temper than DS ever did, and does so many more crazy daredevil things that he would ever dream of. Much harder to keep up with her. She's getting her last 4 teeth, and can't wait for them to come through and be done with the teething thing.

PanicPants · 04/11/2006 22:20

lol Yes! We have a whole range too, some of them are very scary!

DS1 is walking really well now and he has his first pair of shoes. The lady in the shop was really surprised that his feet were so big, 5 1/2 H, she thought 2 shoe boxes might be better

DS2 loved the fireworks on Saturday and was totally memerised by them, hi little face lit up when they saw them.

Tantrums here too, ds2 is much more adventurous than ds1 ever was and he very much enjoys throwing things at me. He's forever getting into mischief and his brother is always trying to stop him doing naughty things. His personality is really coming through now and he's such a lovely little boy.

Hello all thanks for all the congratulations! I havent told many people yet so its exciting to see the nice messages! Dp was holding dS standing today when ds bent down to investigate the economy pack of nappies and then stood alone for several seconds!! He has also done a little 'cruising' along the sofa so things are begining to move in the right direction with walking Just to say there is hope at the end of the grumpy baby tunnel, ds has been lovely the past week sleeping well and giving kisses and generally being cute even when his is being naughty! I am sure its just temperary respite but who cares

PanicPants · 11/11/2006 23:00

Having read back through some of my posts I realise that despite ds being grumpy and independent atm, I nhaven't said that he's still my wonderful little boy!

Have had a lovely few days with him, and we too are getting lots of kisses and cuddles!

bramblina · 12/11/2006 21:08

Kisses-a-plenty here too! How funny! He also offered dh hugs at the breakfast/lunch/dinner table all weekend, much to dh's joy! Very sweet. He hasn't been too heavy handed this weekend either, except when we went to visit a friend and her 2yo, who grabbed him by the dungarees and flung him to the ground only for being interested in what he was doing. He wasn't hurt but narrowly missed the hearth. He managed to get a small tap in later so I was almost pleased.

Mil offered to babysit lastnight so we popped out for and hour, and ds woke! She tried to settle him but he was having none of it, we returned to a very sad looking little boy. But oh isn't it lovely when they hold their arms out for you, and no-one else will do!

We went for a walk today with mil and ds responded to "there's none left, darling" (grapes) with "all gone" -all of his own accord! And bil was rather pleased when ds copied me when I told him we were going to see uncle Jordan, to which he repeated "Joryan"!.

Ds has a lovely bruise in the middle of his forehead now where he ran in to the bathroom door frame, edge on. Ouch!

pookey · 12/11/2006 22:31

its amazing how they are suddenly so affectionate! poor your ds Bramblina, glad he wasnt too badly hurt . Its funny how big and scary other peoples kids can seem, when my sil came to visit with her 3 yo, ds was desp to play with the bigboy remote control car and his cousin kept saying 'dont touch baby noah!' and stopping him from touching the car, ds was so shocked but he did as he was told which is more than he does for me!

Miaou · 15/11/2006 11:29

Hello folks, just got a bfp on Monday, so number 4 is on its way in July! There are a few of us from this thread having babies in July too

Ds has got impetigo on his bum - nappy rash that got infected, poor thing! He has been off his food a bit but otherwise he is ok. He is fascinated by lights at the moment, keeps pointing at them and saying "light! light!" - so lovely!

josey · 15/11/2006 17:51

congrats maiou!! how you have managed that with having you appendix out just a few weeks ago is beyond me!!! well done.

Im so jealous would love to have another one on the way hopefully by spring once we have the house move out the way i might convince DH

Miaou · 15/11/2006 18:39

ahem yes well, all I can say in my defence is I have a high pain threshold!

queenrollo · 15/11/2006 20:16

congrats Miaou.......i'm in awe!!
bad head here for three days........massive row with dp on Sunday morning about nothing (damn hormones) and ds is just being a sweetie. tonight dp was sat on the floor and ds kept going over and kissing him and saying 'mwah' as he did it!!

suzi2 · 15/11/2006 21:18

congrats miaou

Azure · 16/11/2006 09:20

Congratulations and awe Miaou. I must confess to feeling broody, but must restrain myself - I just keep repeating my mantra two hands, two children. Am so impressed with you having four, though. DS2 continues to be fascinated with the loo (and dropping things in it) and unfortunately has now learnt to open the lid by himself. I found DS1's trainer in the loo the other evening. I have also unwittingly washed several toys in the washing machine - I really must remember to check it's empty before putting the clothes in. DS2 has had the same shoes since the end of July - I took him back again to the shoe shop on Monday and he still has room in them. He seems to have grown elsewhere, though.

What are you thinking of getting your LOs for their second Christmas? I've got DS2 an ELC fire station, Aquadraw and a pushchair & baby because it's the thing he most likes playing with at other people's houses (with girls!). My parents are getting him a Fisher Price Little People zoo which is on offer at Woolies.

queenrollo · 16/11/2006 12:32

i've got ds a Leapfrog alpahabet thing which sticks to the fridge door, a noisy Spot book, and just ordered an easel and some paints from ELC. PIL are buying him a set of soft skittles and a bean bag chair, and my parents are buying him a toy with balls that roll down and around (a bit like the one on the Argos ad). i've asked my sister to get him some big lego.....we don't want to spoil him but that sounds like a lot of stuff now i've written it all down!!
far more excited about this Christmas as i think ds will really enjoy it!

Azure · 16/11/2006 13:08

That sounds good Queenrollo. I'm really looking forward to Christmas - when DS1 was the same age, we decorated the tree when he was having his lunchtime nap and I'll never forget the amazement and wonder when he saw it all lit-up for the first time. Of course he then tried to pull everything off!

PanicPants · 17/11/2006 18:09

Congratulations Miaou

We have bought ds a tricycle that can 'grow' with him iyswim, and a lot of little things like books, toys etc.

Are you all still having Christmas trees this year? I really won't too, but can see ds pulling it over, and pulling everything off of it!
Might have to hide it behind the sofa

queenrollo · 17/11/2006 19:34

yes we're having a christmas tree.....between ds and the cat it will probably be destroyed repeatedly!!

Miaou · 17/11/2006 19:38

Ds seems to have almost got the hang of walking now - bless 'im!! He can take up to half a dozen rather wobbly steps before falling over, but is getting very good at recovering his balance when he wobbles . It's so lovely to watch him.

Not sure about a Christmas tree here - maybe put it in the hall out of harm's way! I'm sure the dd's would be very disappointed if we didn't have one.

josey · 17/11/2006 22:33

still planning a xmas tree, it a thing in our house is goes up the night before ds birthday as that is what put me into labour with him!! he will be 7 this year and will expect it, maybe i will only decorate the top half!!
as for xmas dd is getting a rocking horse and a trampet thing along with a few bits and bobs, mil got a ickle kitchen and the winnie poo talking book. we were with farepac grrrr!!!so xmas not as stress free as we had hoped!

im going through torcher just now, DH gran not well hasnt been for a while we visited her in hospital last wekk, she stays a good bit away, anyway they thought she had an ulcer, i got a call tonight to say she has cancer and a couple of weeks to live, DH works away on the riggs and has a very hard job where he needs to have 150% mind on job so i have taken the heart breaking decision not to tell him till he gets home which should be start to mid of week, i know in my heart its the right choice for him and safety etc and if things worsen suddenly i will get him home but its so very very hard pretending everything is ok

dd is getting brave on her feet still hasnt stood on her own but is starting to let go and has taken the odd step from one thing to another but when she realises what she has done goes straight on her bum, she has stopped crawling though and walks on her knees, she wont keep anything on her feet even socks when we are out in the cold so to my delight i found a pair of soft trainer she was given last year as a gift and just fit her now, she loves them and the wee grips are helping her on her feet im not worried about that just glad they are warm and she hasnt pulled at them once!!

anyway enough rubbish from me

pookey · 17/11/2006 22:37

I am desp to put up decos now! THink I will be cursing myself if I put tree up to early as ds is sure to go bananas DS loves his Spot book QR and he actually says spot when i show it to him (well once or twice and he could be saying dot )

Miaou took ds to my friends house yest and she has the biggest paper lanterns ever, ds was in heaven he kept pointing them to me with a look of wonderment on his face! Congrats again btw!

Azure my mum says the 2 hand rule as well and she had 3 so should know

pookey · 17/11/2006 22:39

sorry you are going throug a hard time josey. sounds like our lo are at a sim stage with walking which is reassuring
