Aw thanks lisb
So glad J is home and recovering mum it took L a while to get back to normal and he didnt have half of what J did, so it will come in time and he will get back into your routine. Xx

Mogz · 12/02/2014 12:04

Focus on getting him better and keeping yourself as rested as possible mum we're all so glad you've got him home.
Anyone got any tips on clearing a blocked duct? I've got a big angry red lump where it is that I can barely touch, even having clothes against it hurts.

CrispyCrochet · 12/02/2014 14:37

Mogz hot compress maybe some ibuprofen and then massage - but if it hurts that might be tricky.

Mogz · 12/02/2014 15:17

Thanks Crispy I've taken some neurofen, tried putting a hot flannel on it but ended up in tears because of the slight pressure of having something against it, so I'm going to try a hot bath once DH gets home. Got baby snuggles for now though so feeling alright really.

Alyssa1978 · 12/02/2014 16:34

I use magnesium paste which draws out infection quickly but I'm not sure what a blocked duct is Hun Blush
Is it on your breast?

Mogz · 12/02/2014 16:50

Way back on the side of my right boob. It's happened because I stopped pumping too quickly so the milk hasn't drained, so the area has got heavy and inflamed. I've got to go to the chemist tomorrow so I'll get some magnesium paste and give it a go.

lisbapalea · 12/02/2014 16:54

Sorry no advice mogz - my only thought would be compresses but I've been beaten to it. Hope you feel OL soon.

Had Hannah weighed today and she's put on 1lb 7oz in 2 weeks! I am convinced she's been overfeeding, maybe because of a growth spurt, and i don't think her tummy has caught up with her appetite as she still often seems really uncomfortable during and after some feeds and it seems to be farting that is really troubling her. No idea what the solution could be for that - any ideas?!

lisbapalea · 12/02/2014 16:54

I meant OK, not OL!!

hotcrossbun83 · 12/02/2014 20:05

Lis - ds has put on 2lb in 2 weeks! I'm also worried about overfeeding, hv wasn't concerned but I think I'm going to give hungry baby formula a try just for dream feed. He still wakes every 3-4 hrs a night which is a lot for a 9 week ff baby I think. It's not my main reason for doing it, I really think he's having too much milk and needs to drop a feed

mumofthreeboysS · 13/02/2014 02:05

mogzi had this twice- apparently hot compress before a feed then cold after helps. I used a kid size ice pack in my bra- was sooo soothing. Also if you can bear it, massage the area whilst feeding to help drain it. Second time I had it doc said it was mastitis (you can get it without fever symptoms) and I was given antibiotics so just keep and eye on it as you don't want it to get worse.

alyssa was L really clingy after you got back from hosp? J is really clingy and was so unsettled all evening- luckily he did settle after his late feed and hopefully will after this one too...

snowqu33n · 13/02/2014 06:31

mum so glad your LO is OK. Hope he recovers quickly.

Mogz · 13/02/2014 11:58

How's everyone today?

hotcrossbun83 · 13/02/2014 13:27

Depressed :( ds has had a cold since Sunday night. He will only sleep on me in the day, and for most if the night. The first couple of days on the sofa with cuddles were nice but I am now sooo bored! I had to cancel all my plans for the week as I don't want to get my friends dcs sick. The most I have done is wondered around town aimlessly a couple of times but yesterday it was so windy I was scared to go out with the buggy.

You?

On a more positive note, I was just dressing ds to go for a walk and after a bit of tired crying while I ate lunch and attempted to sooth him at the same time, he has fallen asleep on the sofa. He very rarely falls asleep outside of my arms so this gives me more hope that self settling will come. However, I don't want to move him since he settled himself and he is lying by the edge of the sofa, so I basically can't move!

Mogz · 13/02/2014 13:34

It's tough when you can't get out of the house for ages isn't it? I was housebound for 6 months of my pregnancy and had such expectations of being able to get out for short walks around the village each day with the pram/sling but now it's pissing it down and everything is flooded and its windy and cold and I'm just miserable!
But nicer weather is coming and as our little ones get a bit bigger the self settling and sleep will come. For now you sound stuck on the sofa though! At least you've managed some lunch.

CrispyCrochet · 13/02/2014 13:43

hi mogz.

I'm tired today. TR was such a pain last night. I swear it feels like he bf from 11pm until we got out of bed about 7. There were definite small breaks for sleeping but no more than an hour. Although we did have a few small breakthroughs - there was several minutes of real finger sucking (not just random hand in mouth) and at one point in the night when I laid TR down on the bed to switch sides (move pillows, etc) he was content laying there so I left him for a few minutes and he actually fell asleep! So like you hotcross, I am hopeful that self settling is on the horizon. He only
stayed asleep for about 10 minutes but still!

I agree that being stuck in the house is the worst. I really try to get out every day but when it is so wet and windy. Bit brighter today so we went to baby clinic to get TR weighed and am heading out again later to meet a friend for a hot drink.

How are you mogz?

CrispyCrochet · 13/02/2014 13:46

Do all of you ladies have your own cars? My DH has a company car that I am insured on but he has over 1 hour commute so I never get to use it during the week while I am home.

We got married in October and got loads of cash as wedding presents (I think people were extra generous as I was up the duff!) and I suggested that we use some of the money to buy me a car. Well DH admitted yesterday he has been looking. Shock

It would only be a little 2nd hand run around but I really feel like it would improve my sense of freedom so much.

mumofthreeboysS · 13/02/2014 13:55

I know the feeling hot J is so clingy I spent most of lunch with him in a sling tho did put him down and he slept for half an hour so I whizzed round trying to do stuff. Last night he was crying on and off all evening till 10.30 on DH so he was pretty pissed off by the end of it!

Mogz · 13/02/2014 14:13

I'm alright thanks Crispy I managed a nice hot shower this morning which has soothed my poor sore boob quite a bit.
I only have a motorbike license, starting lessons for the car next month and going to buy a little rust bucket with my savings to get me going. Looking forward to the freedom it will bring as we don't really have any public transport out here so I really am stuck when DH isn't at home.

mumofthreeboysS · 13/02/2014 14:21

Goddammit I have a sore boob- but it's not red just sore on one side?? Can't feel any lumps - not sure if blocked duct or thrush?? I think I've had my fair share of shit lately - I can't be dealing with more...

mumofthreeboysS · 13/02/2014 14:27

crispy I have a car tho it's so temperamental- ATM the speedometer doesn't work if it's raining Hmm so that's not ideal. DH said I could do without a car if we can't fix it- I think I swore at him! It's ok for him as he has a car but I'd miss the freedom of being able to jump in it and go where I want-ESP in this weather! Mogz is your boob red as well? I don't know why mine hurts tho J hasnt been drinkng as much due to illness so don't know if it's because it's been engorged a few times and now a blocked duct?

froubylou · 13/02/2014 14:35

Hello everyone.

Mum you really have been through the mill haven't you. Hugs xx.

I have a car but am still waiting for it to be mended. Will hopefully be this weekend.

Took seb for his jab and check up today. He was not impressed but has slept since in his pram. This is following on from yesterday when he slept in his pram in the day so am hoping we have turned a corner. Just feeding him now before school run.

He has also put a pound on in two weeks and moved up a percentile so pleased with that as well.

I can't believe the difference him sleeping in the day has made lol. Have dusted and cleaned and everything lol.

Alyssa1978 · 13/02/2014 14:57

mum L was very clingy after hospital but he's back to his old self now, took about a week to pull himself round and loose the cough etc.

Dp has a car but I can't drive, I really need to start lessons but its just finding the time etc xx

lisbapalea · 13/02/2014 15:46

All ok here. Had a pretty good night with wake ups at 1.45 and 5am. She then joined me in bed at 6.20 and slept on me and in our bed until feeding again at 7.45.

I feel like we have a pretty decent routine at night which, fingers crossed, is working well for night sleeps, but I really don't have any consistent routine in the day. Currently Hannah is sleeping on me, and I may move her to lie next to me on the sofa (am at mum's so don't have a cot or pram to put her in). But I don't have an idea of when she should be sleeping in the day to minimise the grumpy periods...

mumoftwo you said you were doing the GF routine - I occasionally flick through that book, but not sure how to adapt it, e specially for daytime sleeps, when GF seems to think all babies will go for 4hrs between feeds - Hannah is defo a 3hrly girl!

I didn't have a car when I had DD1 but we got me a cheap knackered run round when she was about 3mths as I really felt I needed some independence. We now live in a small village with an almost non-existent bus service so my car is a necessity to keep me sane!

hotcrossbun83 · 13/02/2014 16:05

Dh and I have a car and he doesn't use it for commuting, but I haven't had the nerve to drive with ds yet! I must get round to it but tbh we're in west London and there are plenty of transport options which seem easier. If I was in the countryside though I would definitely need one!

Mogz · 13/02/2014 17:07

mum you poor thing! My boob has a round red mark about the size of a £2 coin and its a bit raised but it did start off as pain without the redness, I was just too tired to notice or think to do anything about it. Lots of massaging whilst you're feeding and a little expressing if you do start to feel engorged again. Hopefully it'll clear on its own.
Good to hear Seb is doing so well frouby.
