Hello ladies,

Thought I would start you off. We can just keep this a stats thread until we all deliver and then move across if you like.

toby Percy has reflux and we're meant to be giving Gaviscon 6 times a day. If Meredith takes a bottle of expressed milk then she won't even notice it :)

fryingpantoface · 17/03/2014 15:21

They definitely grow out of it. Ds1 grew out of reflux by the time he was 4 months.

today i made chicken and sweet corn soup using the chicken carcass. Looks great

FelixFelix · 17/03/2014 15:36

Arghhhhh the fucking bednest hasn't turned up today. Emailed them and they said it was too late on Friday to get it delivered today even though they promised it would come today!! I'm exhausted and had the opportunity to have a decent nap this afternoon as Sylvie slept for a couple of hours earlier but I waited up for the delivery instead. Going to be falling asleep during my driving lesson tonight Confused sorry I'm really peed off! Not looking forward to another night of squeezing S in the middle of us in her cocoonababy. I fell out of bed last night due to no room!

fryingpantoface · 17/03/2014 16:13

That's shocking felix definitely kick off

TobyLerone · 17/03/2014 17:17

Meredith has never taken a bottle. We don't own any, nor a steriliser. So I gave her her first dose of Gaviscon from tge Calpol syringe. She took it very well. I hope it doesn't make her too constipated.

TobyLerone · 17/03/2014 17:17

How annoying, felix Angry

Mythreeknights · 17/03/2014 17:19

Thanks pidgy and toby... You are both correct you clever things. It is indeed granulated umbellical tissue. funnily enough I was prescribed fucidic acid for it...looks like there are a few different treatment approaches. Am grateful it isn't a hernia. Lucy has been pretty full on these last two days...only calm or sleeping during the day if draped over my shoulder. Not ideal, but she's gorgeous so I don't mind. How is everyone else doing? Hope u are surviving lack of sleep frying

fryingpantoface · 17/03/2014 17:53

Great news mythree!

i didn't get a nap. I got ds1 into bed for a nap and Henry woke up wanting cuddles, he wouldn't sleep at all!

tonight we're going to watch Avengers Assemble on Netflix and ear tea. Then I'm going to have an early night

Naturegirl82 · 17/03/2014 17:57

So today I got glasses Sad Only need them for when I'm concentrating on screens etc for long periods but still Sad . Was weird picking frames out. Pick them up Friday.

Also had lunch with my friend and she's pregnant Grin . Only thing is our husbands are really goos friends so I'm not allowed to tell dh as he wants to tell him. Going to be very hard to not let it slip!

Felix that is rubbish about the bednest. Don't know if it's practical (or how you feel about it) but could you put her in the cocoonababy on the floor?

toby fx the gaviscon works and you have a quieter evening

Swannykazoo · 17/03/2014 18:47

How old is Lucy mythree? I'm wondering if we've hit the dread 12 week growth spurt here myself. Lots of random crying, won't be put down, feeding frequently but only for 5mins, generally a fractious wee bugger today...

Pidgy · 17/03/2014 18:55

felix as a one off can you try sleeping top to tail with DH? This is what we did when Lara was in her cocoonababy by my head. Worked ok but I missed DH!

Glad it's nothing serious mythree.

Hope the gaviscon works toby and she's more settled.

We seem to have taken a step backwards. Lara woke so many times last night I lost count. Not sure if it's because her cold, whether she was cold (had window open) or whether she's become too dependent on her dummy. Who knows. She eventually settled in bed next to me but I can't sleep well when she's there. So tired I feel really down. :-(
Hope it's better tonight. Hope everyone else gets sleep tonight too.

MerryPops · 17/03/2014 19:07

Hi all. After a couple of good days with Xander he has been a raging ball of fury last night and today. Goddamn colic. 6 weeks old now so hopefully it will start to gradually ease soon. Perhaps being wildly optimistic but I can kid myself! Loving seeing the pics on Facebook of the babies, there are a lot of big uns! Xander is only around 10lb so there are some much bigger at his age.

Hope everyone has a good evening.

flyawayblue · 17/03/2014 20:32

felix kick up a fuss, it's their broken product they are replacing so should be delivered asap not as part of their normal rota.

mythree glad it wasn't too serious.

Toby hope the gaviscon works and you have more settled feeds and sleep.

I'm starting to worry about reflux as I'd counted a lot of Alice's behaviour as given but it sounds like what you are all going through and I'm worried I've been mean to her by not talking to the gp.

She fusses at the breast, sicks up curdled milk, very windy both ends and crys an hour after feeding often waking herself in the process.

Might get a gp appointment to discuss along with other things I should have at my 6 week appointment but didn't as was with a useless doctor.

Hope everyone has a better night.

Pidgy · 17/03/2014 20:34

How do I join the Facebook group?

fryingpantoface · 17/03/2014 20:57

Pm your name pidgy and I'll add you

FelixFelix · 17/03/2014 21:01

Sorry really quickly caught up as just back from my driving lesson and need to cook tea! I think I can manage it for one more night. If it doesn't arrive tomorrow I will cry. DP is staying up late doing his uni work anyway so me and Sylvie will just starfish on the bed and he will have to work around us Grin

Toby hope the gaviscon works. I'm glad she took it from the syringe. Whenever I give Sylvie something from the syringe she just spits it back out! I bought a medicine dummy which enormouse (I think?! Or maybe frying?) recommended which is ace.

Nature I'd find it so difficult to keep that to myself! Hope you picked some nice glasses Smile

Puggle, Pidgy and merry I hope things get better for you soon Sad

Pidgy send me a PM with your full name on and I'll add you as a friend then add you to the group.

Fly that does sound like reflux too. Best to get her checked out either way. The gaviscon seriously makes such a difference, it's really worth getting a prescription if that's the problem.

Sorry if I missed anyone!!

FelixFelix · 17/03/2014 21:01

Whoops Pidgy x post with frying!!

Mythreeknights · 17/03/2014 21:27

puggleshe is eight weeks old so am a bit behind you. Having a bit of a shite evening if truth be told. Thought I had nailed it at seven pm when she went straight to bed, but at eight, just as I was putting her brothers to bed she woke up. Fed her, burped her, jiggled her but getting pretty tired as essentially I have been carting a sack of potatoes over my shoulder all flipping day. Now in kitchen and she is WIDE AWAKE GODDAMIT beady eyes watching me as I type, arms waving about. She's having a good time. I need a gin but am still on antibiotics for mastitis (second bout, pretty vile, still breast feeding but boy if I get it again that really is it). Ad dh is out at an independence referendum talk, so that's me, going it alone. Again. Feel completely pissed off about this fact although its nothing new. Hope everyone else is feeling less hostile and more loving towards their partners????!

HumptyDumptyBumpty · 17/03/2014 23:48

Hugs mythree we've all been there! and it's shit. Whe your DH gets in, she is ALL HIS, right? And you get a cup of tea and a cuddle from him when he's settled her? Bloody hope so. Grin

Have taken myself off iron tablets, as I thought eight weeks was long enough (no follow up from GP and don't think they intend to test my blood again) and I was sick of the black poo. Now I'm beyond tired, can't sit down without drifting off into a doze. I think I might need to keep taking them. Bah.

Oh and my 'D'M is being a bitch again. Left me a shitty voicemail, sent me a fucking horrible email about how I never contact her (bollocks), and when I pointed out that I have an eight week old baby and am finding it pretty fucking tough, sent me an email saying 'I'm sorry you're finding it tough, but I am really offended by your tone and you never bothering to see if I'm okay'. I'm at the point of cutting off contact with her entirely, she's such an emotional parasite.

We all need Wine and cake. Stat.

Pidgy · 18/03/2014 01:25

Humpty that's really not what you need. Having a baby is an emotional rollercoaster enough without having to worry about the feelings of close family members like that. Hope you resolve it somehow.

Also, I heard about an iron drink you can get which is meant to be 'kinder'. Not sure of the name, sorry. Other trick is to ensure you have some vit c at the same time you eat anything with iron. Eg. Orange juice, as that helps with the absorption of iron.

mythree your description of the wide awake eyes made me laugh! We often have the same in the evening!! You try so hard to get them down and then those big wide awake eyes just mean it's been a waste. In a few months years I'm hoping I'll look back on this time fondly! Who knows tho!
Hope DH returned ok. I also get v annoyed at my DH especially if he dares say he's tired! Or if he 'needs a break'. Hats off to you for doing bedtime routine on your own again. It's hard.

toby how has your evening been..hope it's working.

Will pn my name when I figure out how.

TobyLerone · 18/03/2014 06:06

Thanks for asking, pidgy. The evening was fine, actually, which I wasn't expecting considering we had to go to DS's GCSE evening at 6.30 for an hour. It could be a fluke, so I'll be interested to see how tonight is, when we're back in our normal routine.

At least she hasn't been sick since she started the Gaviscon. Yesterday, just after I posted to say we were going to the doctor, she threw up an entire feed all over us both (and the sofa!). I was covered in it, including my bra and knickers! Poor baby :(

Sorry you had a shitty evening, mythree :(
I have to admit that I can't help laughing when Meredith is doing the cheery "bollocks to going to sleep!" arm waving, but then again I'm not particularly sleep-deprived and I have a lot of support from DH. I am forever counting my blessings on those counts.
DH is going on a stag weekend on Saturday, though, so I could be eating my words by Sunday!

humpty, I couldn't be arsed with that at all. It doesn't sound like you'd miss much if you went no-contact with your mother. But that's got to be a really hard decision to make.

fryingpantoface · 18/03/2014 08:27

That's food toby
that's also rubbish humpty does she have form for being like that?

FelixFelix · 18/03/2014 08:49

Humpty that's the last thing you need Confused sounds like a nightmare to deal with her!

Had the worlds biggest nappy explosion this morning. I've never seen anything like it! Had to stick her straight in the bath and strip all the sheets off the cocoonababy. I'm always super happy when we get a dirty nappy though as she's been having problems going. I must be the only person in the world happy to see poo Grin

I've been a bit of a crap parent this morning. S woke up at 5 whinging and wouldn't settle after her feed and I was knackered, so I stuck a pillow under the top of her cocoonababy to prop her up slightly, and put the telly on! I've discovered 'baby TV' and they play classical music with patterns at night so I've recorded everything from overnight and let her watch that. She will stare at the telly in the bedroom until you put it on then kick her legs in delight Blush it kept her quiet and I slept until 8!!!!

fryingpantoface · 18/03/2014 09:01

felix sounds like a brilliant idea!

I'm also waiting for Henry to poo. Nothing in 2 days now. I really don't want to break out the cotton buds and vaseline if i can help it. We also don't have vaseline. So I'd need to buy some

FelixFelix · 18/03/2014 09:10

Frying I've had to use cotton buds loads recently. A couple of days ago she strained and cried in pain on and off from 4am until around 8pm so I just had to do it to help her. I've been leaving her since then though as I don't want to end up being reliant on it and she seems to be getting better. It's awful when there's not much you can do to help Sad
