hales oh no! But thank goodness tomorrow is Monday!! (Silver lining - sorry you have no hot water. Hope you can keep warm)

spotty I'm not sure what's worse. A disturbed night or a really early morning Hmm I'd rather just have a decent nights sleep - as I'm sure you would. Why are children so selfish? Don't they understand? We neeeeeed sleep!!!

DS went to sleep around 12:30 but was whingey in his sleep and slept in bed with us. Because DH had settled him I took over settling him mostly during the night but it was a really pants broken sleep.
Then when DS went down for his morning nap I joined DH who had gone back to bed after doing the first shift and we both slept for a bit. It was awesome!
Fingers crossed. DS was really tired and went straight off to sleep. We kept him up a little later - about 45 mins ish. Who knows! I'm going to pray to the demons gods in charge of baby sleep and beg them to tell me what I have to do for a whole nights sleep to happen...

Barbeasty · 19/01/2014 19:24

We've put A to bed still fully dressed! We went to the pub for the DC to have tea after swimming and he fell asleep in the car on the way home. It was his normal bedtime, so fingers crossed. We'll whip his dungarees off when he comes in with us.

Hope your cold clears up soon hales. And good luck with DP. Will your sister look after your dad if she's living there? That should give you a good break to concentrate on DP & DD.

WLmum · 19/01/2014 20:37

It is a large glass of wine kind of day. Dd2&3 have been competing for a place on eBay.
Hope all those in need get some well deserved sleep.

MrsNutella · 19/01/2014 20:37

Poo bum arse. DS is awake. Tonight we are watching despicable me 2. We are tired great parents.

SpottyTeacakes · 19/01/2014 21:11

Hales that's rubbish hope it's easy to fix.

Oh no Nutella, I really can't complain about sleep Blush or food. Ds ate his bowl of chilli and rice then dd's bowl of chilli and pasta followed by a yoghurt. I do get worried I'm over feeding him.

Sorry you had a bad day WL hopefully tomorrow will be better Smile

Ds is so cute at the moment. He put his bowl on my head earlier and thought it was hilarious. He laughs every time he gives you a big open mouth kiss and frequently, repeatedly, headbutts me (gently, with love Wink)

halestone · 19/01/2014 21:47

I'm looking forward to my Dsis caring for my dad hopefully she'll see what i've been doing for years.

WL i hope you had a huge glass of wineWine

Nutella i hope thats DS's only wake for the whole night.

Spotty i love listening to babies laugh Grin

Beasty, lets hope swimming has worn the DC's out and you get a whole nights sleep.

That's lovely spotty. Food is still quite hit and miss with T at the moment. She's been after the boob at every opportunity again today - I'm sure it's comfort for sore teeth or maybe still after effects of jabs. She fell over today and split her lip and after an initial howl she was pulling at my top for boob comfort. I guess its a bit catch 22 with boob and food. She got in a tizz at tea time and only ate a few mouthfuls then demanded boob. A little bit later I managed to spoon in her dinner on the go -face to face with night garden--

MrsNutella · 19/01/2014 22:32

DS is still up. I think he is enjoying the movie. DH and I could happily have gone to bed an hour ago.
We needed sustenance so I made some microwave Nutella cake Grin. Since DS smashed the bowl I usually make it in I had to make it in two mugs. Probably a good thing because DH and I shared 1 mug.
I had to share mine with DS as well though. The little monkey had cake all over his chin.

WLmum · 19/01/2014 22:49

Microwave nutella cake? Why don't I know about this? Do share!

halestone · 19/01/2014 23:18

I agree i need to know the recipe.Grin

There's a recipe on mumsnet for microwave chocolate mug cake I think

WillYouDoTheFandango · 20/01/2014 07:05

The recipe is on YouTube.

Bloody work dragging me from my warm bed, mutter, mutter...

Stacks · 20/01/2014 08:51

Morning. Just made a post on fb too, struggling with sleep here :( I know some of you have it so much worse, and have done for ages, but I'd got used to having one of those nice sleeping babies. He's been good since about 9 months, but this last week all has gone to pot. I'm listening to him scream instead of nap, and I don't know why. Feeling depressed and annoyed and so tired.

Anyone else hit sleep issues around 13m? It doesn't seem to be separation anxiety, as he's happy with me leaving the room when he's playing.

Sorry for me me me. I'll catch up in the thread and try and join in a bit more.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 20/01/2014 08:56

I just stopped sleeping at 12.5 months Stacks, the only thing that's worked is cosleeping so I'm no help.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 20/01/2014 08:57

J not I!

Barbeasty · 20/01/2014 11:59

I think there's a fair bit of development around 1, especially if they're on the move etc.

And with teeth, I think they notice it less when they're busy. So it really hits when they slow down for a nap or at night time, and stops them sleeping so well.

I also think that with so much of this we sit here and speculate, trying to work out what on earth is going on and how to sort it. Then 3 months or so down the line it all becomes clear (as you notice the tooth or the new skill or realise they were ill etc) and you wonder how you didn't realise at the time!.

All made worse by the bone crushing exhaustion. Which is almost worse when they have been sleeping because you know they can do it. At least A is consistent. Yet to sleep through at 13 months....

halestone · 20/01/2014 12:25

Stacks i'm fully agreeing with what everyone else says. H's sleep is dreadful as well but at the same time her fangs have come through. She has learnt loads of new words and is now stringing words together plus learning to jump up and down. So i'm pretty sure its all developmental.

OP posts:
WLmum · 20/01/2014 19:51

Wow hales! That's some development. We don't have any words yet.
I am ignoring you stacks and willyou as I've only just got T sleeping through in the last few weeks - will not even allow the thought of a regression!

MrsNutella · 20/01/2014 19:53

stacks we have had four really bad nights. But we're not sure if it's jet lag, teeth or development. DS has started to take little independent steps though and I swear his variety of noises has increased.

Not sure if he's going to sleep any better tonight. But I live in hope. Smile Last night he went back to sleep around 00:15 and slept solidly ish until 8:15 - which was good for him!!

Stacks · 20/01/2014 19:57

Well, he went down ok tonight, and has gone down ok every night since this started. It's just sleeping through/naps that have gone completely to pieces.
We ended up lasting through today with just one nap of an hour, which I had to hold him for. He woke up half way through panicking even then, with the nipple in his mouth and me right there.
Could separation anxiety only hit in such specific circumstances? Could teeth? Illness?

SpottyTeacakes · 20/01/2014 20:13

Wow hales ds doesn't walk or talk!

Stacks · 20/01/2014 20:23

We don't have any talking either. He makes lots of sounds, and is very good at making himself understood though. He has a squeal for 'I want that', a squeal for excitement, and another for questioning/look at that. :)

MrsNutella · 20/01/2014 20:46

Stacks we have noises, which are identifiable after a fashion. Some mean "what's that" most of the rest, aside from mum, papa and hungry are probably variations on "I want that, I don't care if its not appropriate for me to have it I WANT IT NOW!" Is soooo lovely.... Grin

Spotty I know it's not a real consolation but if you like I'll swap my monkey for a week of easy eating and sleeping Smile - can you post small children?

DS has squeaked a bit twice but he is still asleep.... Fingers crossed.... and toes, just for good measure!

WillYouDoTheFandango · 20/01/2014 21:10

Grin We have no sleeping through and he still has a bottle at midnight. But there's been definite development over the last few days - tonnes of walking, constant babbling, his hiyas and hellos are much more intelligible and he's added good-boy (!), Jamie and peppa Blush to his repertoire.

The funniest development though is that he's discovered his tongue. He has been poking it at us for the last 2 days and today at bedtime the cheeky monkey got me good. He did a massive grin, then licked the end of my nose, then chuckled to himself for ages! I'm raising a monster.

SpottyTeacakes · 21/01/2014 06:01

Hmm sorry Nutella I think I'll keep him! He's pretty easy tbh apart from his complete meltdowns every time I try to make/cook food Hmm

I've got dd's cough Sad work 6:45-1:30, drs appt at 3 and pick dd up at 4. Going to be a long day.
