Hello. Just got my first iPhone and am trying to learn how to use it. Typing is slow going! L seems to have turned into a full blown toddler, throwing little tantrums and climbing on everything. Just now she is doing both trying to get up on the couch.

You all make me want to have a fancy Christmas dinner.

Pr sorry about your ILs....

PetiteRaleuse · 16/12/2013 16:56

Fucking conjunctivitis. I have list count of the number of days I would have had to take off work since start September but LO can't go to nursery tomorrow. Back to the doctors. I think this must be day 14 ish.

ChasingDaisy · 16/12/2013 18:28

Fucking teeth, fucking snot and fucking developmental leap (he can now stand up but not get back down again and seems to find the whole thing terrifying) turning my baby into a miserable whinge fest all day long (apart from when he is with XP Hmm) and making it so difficult to get him to sleep as he can't seem to switch off. These are the times I miss having someone to share the burden with.

BigPigLittlePig · 16/12/2013 18:53

Chasing here is a sample convo from our house after a particularly hellish weekend with dsd.

DH (to xp) - "how is A with you?"
XP - "fine, why?"
DH - "well it was a tricky weekend, quite challenging etc."
XP - "oh well she;s fine with me"

2 days later, I bump into the xps new dh. We exchange pleasantries. I say, isn't it nice to get out with just the babies and have some peace and quiet. His response? "Yes, A has been a nightmare lately, loads of tantrums and sulks and shouting, and always disobeying"

Hmm

Pinch of salt much?

ReindeerIsles · 16/12/2013 19:22

If you were a mischievous 1yo, (think dialling 999, feeding a packet of wipes to the dog, posting car keys in the bin.....) where would you hide your mummy's credit card?

^ tonight's misdemeanours.

BigPigLittlePig · 16/12/2013 19:27

Not sure isles but a mischievous 3 yr old once posted my work ID badge between our floor boards and yes I was the laughing stock having to explain that to the ID badge man

PetiteRaleuse · 16/12/2013 19:44

999 is a bloody stupid emergency number. 123 would have been harder for kids to misdial. Or 911. Or 112. Or any other combination....

ChasingDaisy · 16/12/2013 19:52

When I've dialled 999 (legitimately) in the past, it has always felt very odd pressing those numbers - feels almost forbidden somehow!

PetiteRaleuse · 16/12/2013 19:54

Me too! I did it once and felt so timewasting talking to the call handler. I wasn't timewasting.

Evilwater · 16/12/2013 19:56

N has been testing and pushing all the bounties it's been a very tough.

Please let tomorrow be better.

I'm very tired emotionally. I've let ex-p have n for a hour on Thursday.

isles x mas tree!, cat litter box, bin, in curtains? Radiators?

Evil

Passmethecrisps · 16/12/2013 20:01

Quickly flying past.

How did the afternoon go pp?

Find them isles?

GTbaby · 16/12/2013 20:06

Watching Kirsty allsop crafty Xmas

Donnadoon · 16/12/2013 20:07

Hiya thanks for your well wishes all
kyz I'm having another girl....my third Grin (feel sooooo greedy)
Dd fell down the stairs with my debit card in her hand, she was ok but the card snapped clean in half...great time of year for that to happen, but got a replacement within 3 days so no biggie
evil sorry you sound a bit run ragged???be kind to yourself Wine

PetiteRaleuse · 16/12/2013 20:08

evil iirc XP doesn't do shift work. I would sort out a written arrangement that he has to stick to. Something you feel comfortable with. And he can't fanny around switching and forgetting. Routine will be good for everyone especially N.

GTbaby · 16/12/2013 20:10

999 is even more stupid as for a right handed kid it's the easiest number to press.

Donnadoon · 16/12/2013 20:11

BPLP sorry it was you that asked what I was having Blush Flowers sorry you are having a tough time with dsd... They do have these phases but nip it in the bud and stand firm...kids do like firm boundaries , it makes them feel safe :)

ChasingDaisy · 16/12/2013 20:12

Evil, wot PR said. Routine is the key to stability.

And yep, PR, I felt like a timewaster too. Terribly British trait. Call handler was excellent in my case, the coppers that turned up, not so much...

ReindeerIsles · 16/12/2013 20:18

9 is the only key on our phone that doesn't lock. Great idea. Luckily I caught it before it properly dialled out. Credit card still AWOL.

But, after a massive argument with my broadband provider I have splashed out and ordered sky. It is coming next Monday and I am far too excited about this. Blush

M was okay after her jabs. Cried hysterically during but got over it very quickly and is now wired.

donna how exciting!!!

ChasingDaisy · 16/12/2013 20:31

Down the side of the sofa Isles? In the DVD player? In the freezer? Toaster?

PetiteRaleuse · 16/12/2013 20:33

The jabs reactions come later.. If you have the reactions. DD1 had some vague measles and a slight temp. LO had a massive eczema outbreak but nothing else, no fever.

PetiteRaleuse · 16/12/2013 20:35

isles just after we moved we lost our only set of keys to the house. ALL our keys - both sets - were on that one new keyring. Searched everywhere. Including the bins.

They were in dh's sock drawer. Right on the top in plain view. We found them after 3 days of one of us staying in all the time as we couldn't lock us out.

Kyz · 16/12/2013 20:38

Evening guyyyssss :) How goes? Gonna dive straight into it with replies

So glad you had a lovely time bplp

yay for new foods det :) I love it when e enjoys something new - sadly it hasn't happened for a little while because he's been so finicky Sad

Thankyou for all the car seat info guys - stunt He will be approx 3 when his line hits 18kg in his red book. Do they really slow down so very much in growth? Mind you with how he's been recently I don't think he'll grow at all :( I am still after the Maxi Cosi Axiss and think it'll last him a good while

Glad Jabs wen't ok pp and isles

No idea what to suggest for yout lamb pr but I wish you didn't have to stress so much :( your xmas eve meal sounds gorgeous :)

hope you can find a new tile lily

enjoy your iphone lydie :)

Argh for conjunctivitis pr not fucking fair!

aaaaaaargh for fucking teef chasing not fun! XP is probably BSing you to make himself look better and make you feel shitty. Don't listen. In any case my mum said they are mad/sad/cheeky for their parents because they feel the can be themselves completely. Maybe it's like that?

hugs evil I also think routine is a good idea and definitely better for N and yourself so you know what's what.

Well, news here... not much to report. Been worrying about E but i think it's teeth. I assumed we'd have a bad night or he'd wake hungry but no. He woke at 7 when I woke him and had an oz of cows milk and half a dozen spoons of ready brek. He completely refused lunch altogether but drank 4oz very diluted juice. Tea time he had a couple of spoons and clamped shut but was chewing his sleeve madly and seemed whimpery. I put some anbesol on and he ate the lot so I am going with teeth. He had 6oz cows milk before bed so that's great too. It isn't overkill to apply teething gel before each meal is it? What about the granules?

SantasWellies · 16/12/2013 20:51

Kyz I'd not thought of applying teething stuff before a meal but I reckon that's probably a really good idea!

Isles glad she was vair brave. We were warned that days 6-11 are when the reaction gets going - fingers crossed you've lots of folks to pass her to for cuddles over Christmas if she becomes a cling on like the bear was. Some babies really don't react at all though.

I'm off to bed in like half an hour as I'm not chancing another shit night without DH here to help. If I can get a few hours under my belt before midnight I'll be a happy bunny. Jonas has been v brave though as his new teef are proper sharp (upper ones about midway along the sides of the gum, no idea what they are called??). Given he got two I'm surprised I got at least one five hour chunk.

Chasing babies only whinge and cry to people who they think will meet their needs - controlled crying works by convincing babies that there is no point in crying as no one is coming to them (hence I'm too soft to do it as I couldn't bear Jonas to think that, but I can totally understand the need to do it if you have an extreme sleep avoider). I bet O saves his whinging for your rather than XP because it's you who he trusts to meet his needs.

From tea time, all through bedtime, we have had 'Dada?' in a range of tones from optimistic questioning to sad whispers. Gaaaaah I can't wait til DH is home - my poor bear. I've had calls today from him from Houston and texts whilst refuelling at Panama - it's very surreal and my inner wanderlust junky is proper envious. I won't sleep until I get a text saying he's landed. Actually I bloody better as that won't be until the wee small hours.

SantasWellies · 16/12/2013 20:53

And since I've name changed my tablet won't recognise me. Might change back.... there's a good possibility I'll be in need of MN in the wee small hours.

Thanks for whoever recommended Birdman. Awesome book!

SantasWellies · 16/12/2013 20:59

Woo and whoever lost their credit cards - have you got floorboards anywhere? My niece (the maelstrom not the meek and obedient cousin of Jonas!) had a good old rummage through my purse and some train tickets and some loyalty cards definitely fell down the gaps in our hall floor which is stripped boards (and which is on my list to be renovated and replaced with some nice hardwood flooring with underfloor insulation.... eventually). Otherwise Jonas has a drawer in the spare room that he goes and sits in and that's one of his secret places, another is under the seat of his wee ride on car, or the dog. The dog gets first dibs on most things. Envy If you can't find them take it as a sign that a higher power wants a cheap and cheerful Christmas! Grin
