Det R gets like that - too hungry to eat. I have to almost force the first few mouthfuls in, then he laps up the rest.

Lovely if disrupted day today. Braved the supermarket then nativity rehearsal through nap and lunchtime, he fell asleep in the car on the way home (from church which is walking distance) so we parked him on my parents drive and scrounged a cuppa. Lunch was at 2:30, we ditched the afternoon nap... He went down ok, fx for the night.

No fruit after lunchtime appears to have solved his sleep issues, only 2 night time nappy changes all week...

Passmethecrisps · 21/12/2013 19:05

Amazing pp. His digestion is maybe too fast? That would be great if that resolved it. Does he eat lots of fruit? Some people digest it really fast.

Thank you vq. Very kind. I do remember one meet where p refused to eat anything other than Ella's kitchen sooked straight from the pouch much to the almost certainly imagined judgement of all the vair nice mummies there.

You would look adorable in a onesie chasing.

P has gone down completely exhausted. She coughed up some milk I think because she was almost asleep while drinking and forgot to swallow! Her grannies sure do wear that girl out.

Passmethecrisps · 21/12/2013 19:06

Oh blimey I do hope not pr. Fingers they are both better very soon.

YellowWellies · 21/12/2013 19:40

Pass that would be the same vair naice Mummies who also feed their babies straight out of EK pouches. Well we certainly do!

PurplePidjin · 21/12/2013 19:43

Yes, he nearly always finishes his meal and gets fruit for pudding. So I've stopped the after dinner pudding and got bagels/oat cakes/biscuits for afternoon snacks. I try to skip the snacking though, he should eat at mealtimes Xmas Confused

Passmethecrisps · 21/12/2013 19:49

Grin yw! I was so fraught about it I took her to the GP! He was all Hmm and Confused. Don't think he ever felt the pressure certain elements of the mum-scene.

Oh and mum and dad have done away home. Not before telling us when the hotel is booked for next time. Booked without checking what we are doing. Ah well, at least we got pre-warning.

Passmethecrisps · 21/12/2013 19:50

Oh! And I didn't mean the akshal vair naice mummies yw! I meant the arse holes from the local village who treat the cafe like a crèche and ignore their children while bitching about other people's. Them ones

ValiumQueen · 21/12/2013 20:01

No judgement here Pass. If you recall J pulled my Hot Choc over him (bad mummy, never had that happen before) and vomited everything he ate. Fond memories Grin

ChasingDaisy · 21/12/2013 20:08

O is still a terrible eater. I am in awe of what other quiche babies eat. (Do we need to start referring to them as toddlers rather than babies soon? Shock)

Evilwater · 21/12/2013 20:09

I can't remember whose Loo was having trouble with today's meals, but n has hardly eaten anything today. Yesterday we had eggy bread with the seeds in it, and he vomited up a whole load of mucous and seeds. I'm guessing he's having a no food day. I'm not returning to buying baby food in a jar or pouch.

He's still posseting, and has a cough for weeks now. Are they linked? I have no idea. We have both had a cold for ages now, and he's teethed at the same time too.

Work tomorrow, boo.
And The kitchen needs a clean too.

Evil

MsJupiterJones · 21/12/2013 20:13

It seems like it was haircut central in the quiche today with Pass's do, Det's fringe and L & J's first trips to the barber! I have been slightly freaked out at how different he looks but it was a lot easier to dry after bathtime and it had got very straggly so I know it was needed.

Also as DH said at least my mum can't whisk him off to get it done without me... Although I have chilled out about the shoes now.

Btw EK pouches are all the rage with the naice mummies round here Wink

PetiteRaleuse · 21/12/2013 20:46

Poor DD1. Ahe's so fevery and tired that she doesn't want to eat. Or leave the sofa. If it's not a tummy bug I suspect a fluey cold or even flu. Temp just nudging 40 now. She is snuggling up to daddy on the sofa watching Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

ValiumQueen · 21/12/2013 20:52

I am so so so sorry PR Hmm I had a horrible feeling it might be something like that starting.

PetiteRaleuse · 21/12/2013 21:06

Well flu is manageable as long as it doesn't turn into pneufuckingmonia. Again.

ChasingDaisy · 21/12/2013 21:11

Oh PR Sad

StuntNun · 21/12/2013 21:15

I remember that Pass I thought it was a great idea - much simpler than trying to use a spoon. My DS1 and DS2 were and still are appalling eaters. DS1 had half a slice of salmon today then started patting his tummy and proclaiming that he was full. Hmm Fortunately J likes his scran, particularly carby food like toast and cheesy Wotsits and chips dipped in ketchup.

I bought myself a new bra today as I have dropped to a size 30G and it is not a maternity bra. Is this a good enough excuse to start weaning J off the breast?

Is it just me or is there an echo in here?

Well she quite often has inexplicable fever but is well in herself. This evening she has just announced that she is ill but her tummy doesn't hurt.

BTW we were in town when LO vommed last. I was getting her out of the pram to put her in the car. And after the first spurt of vom down my coat I held her over the pavement for the rest. It was like the old days when I'd help drunk friends to puke in the gutter. Will be able to explain to future boyfriends about her vomming in the gutter on a pre Christmas Saturday night out at the grand old age of 1. Hmm Grin

PetiteRaleuse · 21/12/2013 21:59

Stunt I think good or bad eaters are down to personality and genes more than whatever we have done. My two are good eaters, though go through silly pita phases. DH was a good eater. I was fussy until well after 18. Really fussy.

ChasingDaisy · 21/12/2013 22:11

Re food issues, I worry that my own complicated relationship with food and the lack of food that I ate during pregnancy will/have affected O. There was one day this week that I hardly ate anything - I certainly didn't have a meal all day. But at weekends when O isn't here I tend to do nothing but eat Hmm Fuck knows what that's about.

StuntNun · 21/12/2013 22:28

There's surprisingly little research PR but what there is points to some sort of endocrinological imbalance or difference with particular influence on the effect of the hormones leptin and ghrelin. Some people just can't overeat even when they're positively trying to gain weight. Other people like myself through genes or more likely through inadvertent parental conditioning, cannot easily tell when they are full and so find it difficult to know when to stop eating. I don't make my children clean their plate because I was expected to eat what I was given as a child so I have been trained to ignore satiety signals and to eat until all the food is gone.

We're told that a calorie is a calorie and that weight gain/ loss/ maintenance is simply a matter of mathematics and willpower. Unfortunately that is complete bollocks and there are a number of different factors that influence our diet and weight.

OP posts:
ChasingDaisy · 21/12/2013 22:40

Yes Stunt, I find it very difficult to gain weight don't hate me, it's not the blessing it seems to be and my weight seems to depend more on my happiness and how safe I feel than how many calories I'm eating.

PetiteRaleuse · 21/12/2013 22:45

I never overeat. Even as a guest if I am full that's it. I never complain if the kids don't eat. I just offer something else and if they don't want it that's fine. Am a feeder so it's hard to accept but to them it's fine - I hide the Feeder angst. At primary school I was often forced to miss lunch break as I wouldn't finish my food. It was so humiliating. But am ok now.
