He's down, the hard way due to long late pm nap (woke at 4:15, dinner is 4:30!) but he's down, my squash has stayed put, but the joint aches sore throat and general wibbliness are all present. Vvv early night, it's the sunday school nativity this weekend, we're shepherds Xmas Hmm

PetiteRaleuse · 20/12/2013 18:04

I have four big books of Indian recipes and the only place I can get the spices is the shop next to my office. I go there very rarely. Can order online but I could do a different recipe every day for a year from them and not get through the lot. So three of them can go.

PurplePidjin · 20/12/2013 18:04

Stunt iiwy I'd bung 1 chicken breast and 4(?) steaks in the oven while the turkey rests, they can have it with turkey trimmings. I would also make pointed remarks about whose turn it will be next year Xmas Hmm nice passive aggressive stuff that'll go over the dc's heads Xmas Wink

PetiteRaleuse · 20/12/2013 18:09

Have put a pic on FB soph of the mulled wine recipe.

YellowWellies · 20/12/2013 18:37

Am v proud just had 3 pals and their 4 kids (all under 3) round and Betsy was good as gold, no food stealing and no jumping up. They all loved her, even one wee girl who arrived scared of dogs Smile Smile Smile Smile Smile

Get well soon Pidj!

PR I'll never see a cookbook out on the streets Smile

PetiteRaleuse · 20/12/2013 18:55

Will list them up though probably after Xmas now. Nursery closed for two weeks Shock

PetiteRaleuse · 20/12/2013 19:44

Anyone ever cooked deer before? Is it best rare/medium/well done? I don't think i have ever eaten it. Chose it over boar as is less gamey so better for the girls.

Bryzoan · 20/12/2013 19:46

Chasing, as someone who in the past has wasted way too much time on men who simply weren't interested enough I implore you to let go of jfg. Life really is too short and you deserve so much better. This new chap sounds lovely to me - I say slowly slowly and give him a chance Grin.

Rubbish few days here as dd has flu and so g and I have cabin fever. Hope it fucks right off before Christmas and doesn't get the rest of us.

PetiteRaleuse · 20/12/2013 19:47

yw a kid on my street wAs bitten by a beautiful but vicious black collie from down the roAd. Is terrified. Understandably. But he can stand next to my dog And promises to stroke him next time. My dog loves children. Am convinced the kid will get over his fear with time.

Why are some of my a's capitalising themselves?

YellowWellies · 20/12/2013 20:01

Chasing Bryz is spot on about JFG you should never have to, and will never be able to persuade someone to love you or treat you right. Trying to be who they want you to be, cooking fine meals, going out for dinner at posh places, sexual acrobatics, fancy clothes, buying gifts etc won't change someone's mind (not saying you're doing any of these BTW but I know I certainly did in my yoof). The real 'one' won't need to be persuaded he'll be falling over himself to spend time with you and treat you right. But, and here's the kicker you have to learn to love yourself warts and all first. You sound like you're making great progress on that - I get a real strong sense that O was sent into your life to give you confidence, courage and the realisation you're loved and loveable.

PR awwww how cool is your dog! Smile

StuntNun · 20/12/2013 20:10

It was looking like four adults and two DCs to eat the 15 lb turkey but DMIL has 'had a word' and FIL had backtracked and will have turkey. But now DH feels bad and wants to make it up to his dad. Not still thinking about missing that flight on Monday, oh no not me.

I'm not a big fan of deer PR but definitely keep it on the rarer side of cooked as if it's too well done it can get a bit of a liver flavour. Also never microwave it, e.g. if reheating leftovers or it will get that offal flavour.

The caps lock is close to A on the iPhone which could cause your random capitalisation issue.

Well it's all wind and rain here, and I can't be bothered wrapping anything.
I'm tired and cold and spent far to much time in supermarkets getting nappies.

I love x mas but hate to wrap.
Evil

PetiteRaleuse · 20/12/2013 21:10

Wrapping is an arse. Any presents from family which are not wrapped are staying unwrapped. Am bAd at wrApping.

ChasingDaisy · 20/12/2013 21:13

I love wrapping. Am gutted that I couldn't afford to buy many presents this year as I have run out of things to wrap.

ChasingDaisy · 20/12/2013 21:14

Maybe I'll just start wrapping random stuff round the house for shits and giggles.

Am braving Tesco for the big food shop tomorrow Shock And then making my annual Yule log.

Evilwater · 20/12/2013 21:16

chasing your very welcome to come and do mine.
Evil

ChasingDaisy · 20/12/2013 21:23

How are you getting on evil?

YellowWellies · 20/12/2013 21:24

My wrapping looks like the dog did it. Or Jonas. Grin I love beautifully wrapped gifts but am shit at it. Mine are the ones with cat fur on the sellotape Grin .

Passmethecrisps · 20/12/2013 21:44

I used to wrap gifts beautifully. All ribbon and sharp edges. This year people will be lucky if they get gifts in a carrier bag.

Oh, and parents arrived today. Today?! In the end it was lovely. They are coming back tomorrow for lunch after asking what our plans were. I had to bite my tongue to stop myself from saying "we HAD plans but we have had to cancel them all so fill yer boots"

Ach, I am being mean. They work so hard and get no time off at all. They see being up here and hiding (they don't tell anyone where they are) as their holiday. I am a rotten poo face for complaining.

And p was being a super star giggle-champion. Kept tip-toeing up to my dad who would pretend not to see then she would run away squealing when he suddenly looked at her.

ChasingDaisy · 20/12/2013 21:52

XP used to criticise my wrapping so I'm loving the freedom this year.

I'm wondering whether some sort of counselling/therapy might be good for me?

Passmethecrisps · 20/12/2013 21:53

Yes chasing. Definitely

PetiteRaleuse · 20/12/2013 21:59

chasing yes. It'll be fun for you. Really.

ChasingDaisy · 20/12/2013 22:15

Hmm I'll look into it. Need to get my head sorted. Fun PR?

PetiteRaleuse · 20/12/2013 22:21

Yes. If you look at therapy as an open minded look at yourself it is fun. We're not talking Freudian psychoanalysis. But CBT or equivalent (there are variants of, including the NLP I used as a coach) which are fun. Really. Therapy Can and should be a very positive experience. A good therapist will remind you of your good points. And move you forward. It's fun and exciting and positive.
