Shock Shock Shock stunt I'd be staying at your mums...

P and I had a massive row in the middle of the night too. And whilst I started it and openly admit on here I was the vvvv unreasonable one, he got stuck in as well and dealt his fair share of vile insults. Prick. He had been doing so well Angry

ChasingDaisy · 20/12/2013 10:26

Morning quiche Smile

Stunt, I definitely vote that you take a stand against the ILs and their unreasonable demands. Although I know that is easier to say than to do. However, I did get great satisfaction from storming out of a restaurant during a meal with the XILs Grin

Isles that sounds horrific Sad The sleep and P.

O continues to be grumpy. Bless him, he's struggling a wee bit with being able to stand but not sit down himself or walk. He is finally cruising though, with my assistance.

In other news, I am going to become a lesbian nun. With lots of cats.

StuntNun · 20/12/2013 10:51

The problem with making a stand is that it would affect everybody's Christmas, including the children. I want my boys to enjoy themselves without having to put up with unhappy relatives.

Stunt I'd write a note from Santa to DN informing him that good girls and boys eat what they're given. You're such a strong and smart lady am so cross DHs family treat you so poorly. It's easy to see where he gets his manners Sad .

Isles the week of the MMR employer's have got to expect that she might be struggling and you'll be doing your damnedest to juggle your Mummy and employee hats Sad I think you're doing an awesome job of balancing both.

And as for P it's easy to squabble when LOs aren't well or are sleep avoiding but you can rant and snap without being hurtful or personal. Nobber. Don't waste lots of time and money on trying to make Christmas for him, he's doesn't seem to appreciate what a lucky man he is. Sadly only he can make him change his ways Sad .

DH has started his long journey home: today he's flying Stanley - Montevideo - Panama - Houston. I always worry when he's in the air. Eeeeeek I can't wait to have him home and see Jonas' face when he arrives on Sunday. To those of you coping without a P or a supportive P - I think you are amazing. I'm missing DH so much and really appreciating how lucky I am that we found each other.

Zamboni · 20/12/2013 11:04

Oh dear chasing - something happened with the new boyf?

reindeer poor M and you. Horrid when you get the impression work arent impressed by childcare duties - think a number of us and especially VQ would really sympathise.

stunt this is ridiculous. I am all for being a good host and making sure guests are well accommodated but you know they are taking the piss. Time for M&S peel off plastic and pop in oven? Hope you find a solution that doesnt just piss you off and ensure you miss out on the rest of the day Sad

PR I know it shouldnt be funny, but toddlers swearing in context is tres amusant. We call S "little bugger". It sounds awful but DH and I call each other buggerface so it sort of stems from there. DD calls S "little bugger" too. We're trying to correct it to "cheeky monkey" but we're not always successful...

Pennie are you currently hunting for a job then? How will Christmas in HK look for you guys or are you coming home?

lily must be tough to be broody. Flowers and big hugs.

S is a very cuddly dude. Properly loves cuddles and offers and seeks them out all the time. DD is much less tactile like that and spontaneous cuddles are quite rare. She does like a good cuddle, but on her terms, at her request. You can't just cuddle her. If you ask she will consider and may bestow a cuddle. She refuses to kiss DH (despite him being her favourite parent by a country mile) when we drop him at work. I can't complain because I am the same. I wonder whether girls are more feline in the sense that cuddles are on their terms, but boys are more canine as they will cuddle/seek/tolerate affection almost indiscriminately? My experience anyway.

PR I usually drop S off first and then take DD to her room, and reverse the order at collection. A few precious moments with just DD and me.

Last day at work here before Christmas. Grin

YellowWellies · 20/12/2013 11:05

Chasing as gorgeous a lesbian nun as you no doubt would be. No you're not. The one that is for you will not walk by you. Just chalk that one up to experience Thanks

YellowWellies · 20/12/2013 11:08

Zamboni I think the feline / canine analogy is spot on.

My niece says "bugger" perfectly. and I might have accidentally taught her "shit"

PetiteRaleuse · 20/12/2013 11:23

Isles what a twat, and sorry about M being ill. It's Friday, tomorrow you can rest.

yw i've been thinking about you a lot this week, hope he has a safe, uneventful trip home and brings back a nice penguin.

zamboni yay to last day before Christmas. And :o at little bugger.

Right I have finished my Christmas food shop, except for salad and cheese which DH will have to get.

The menu: Christmas Eve French onion soup grilled with cheesy baguette and Coq au Vin. With a proper cockerel, not chicken.

Christmas Day: roast venison with sweet onion and wild onion sauce.

Cheese and salads. Smoked salmon and foie gras, the baker's nibbles and log.

Over New Year leg of lamb stuffed with figs and mint. Salmon in red wine. Leftovers of whatever is left from the coq au vin because that is one big bird. Eggs meurette, stuffed mushrooms and probably a chicken and leek pie. Not all at once. Will also do my pineapple cake with I serve warm with a vanilla-y cinnamonny caramel sauce.

And sticky toffee pudding at some point. And more smoked salmon.

HoLilyChristmas311 · 20/12/2013 11:27

We have steps, 6 of them. Repeated 8 times. I wanted to video it but couldn't. And we have a huge teeth at the back of her mouth. Poor monkey.

isles oh no. Hope the day is better.
stunt I'd go to Iceland and buy everything there. They don't deserve home made or marks and spencer.

chasing no for cats, get a dog. Lesbian nun sounds awesome. But what if you don't fancy any of them and they all want to shag you??

ChasingDaisy · 20/12/2013 12:48

PR I am drooling at your Christmas menu!

O isn't particularly cuddly or affectionate Sad Although he cuddles his giant teddy bear and kisses his reflection and photos of himself Grin

PetiteRaleuse · 20/12/2013 13:46

Yesterday I went to a supermarket in Luxembourg. There was a special offer pack of farmed deer meat. Half a deer (small deer) incuding offal for €44-45. Thought ooh that's not bad. Didn't buy it as I wanted to check recipes etc. this morning I was trying to decide whether to go back to yesterday's supermarket or a different one, in France. Needed a cockerel and knew that the Lux shop didn't have them so went to the French one. In the meat section came across the same pack of deer meat, same farm, cuts and packaging. Costing €22/23 for the pack. Half price. What a pisstake the Lux shop!

Anyway didn't buy it. Was too much meat so bought a different cut from the butcher. But wtf? The two shops are 10 miles apart!

VQ · 20/12/2013 14:01

Not caught up, but just saying I have another MN SS gift. I am just so humbled by the kindness of strangers, and thank you so much to whoever nominated me. Better than receiving an Oscar Grin Not opened the latest parcel, but DH is now convinced I have a secret lover! Poor fella.

Sophiathemistletoefairy · 20/12/2013 14:50

It might be easier to find a wife chasing. What has happened anyway? Need an ear? Wine anyway and a cuddle. And a mince pie. Ireland what ever.

More wind and rain.

DH away at his Christmas do, like a girl, I am really missing him. Sad

Sophiathemistletoefairy · 20/12/2013 14:51

Or whatever. Xx

ChasingDaisy · 20/12/2013 14:57

I'm actually feeling alright thanks Sophia but would never say no to a mince pie Grin

I'm not sure whether I'm ready for a boyfriend yet or not and he picked up on that...he's still keen but we're going back to basics and going on proper 'dates'. I'm just sure whether I'm ready for a man to come and disturb mine and O's life that I've worked so hard to build for us.

Plus I'm still in love with JFG HmmGrin

Sophiathemistletoefairy · 20/12/2013 16:38

Though proper courting is lovely! That will be nice and chilled.

PetiteRaleuse · 20/12/2013 17:12

Watching the cbeebies panto Xmas Hmm Xmas Smile

PurplePidjin · 20/12/2013 17:21

Stunt any awkwardness will stem from their lack of manners not your refusal to be stomped on Wine

Erm... Brew and hugs liberally scattered

I feel as weak as a new lamb, got home this afternoon and my breakfast and lunch reappeared Xmas Sad so I've been sipping squash and will have toast then a very early night once bedtime is out of the way. Hoping the fluey aches will disappear after some kip. R napped for 40 minutes in the sling this morning then 50 minutes in the car this afternoon Xmas Shock hoping it doesn't fuck up his night sleep i desperately need him down at 6 so i can recover Xmas Sad

PetiteRaleuse · 20/12/2013 17:27

Maybe his stomach upset was not mmr and just a coincidence? Poor you. Drink as soon as you can and feel better soon x

PetiteRaleuse · 20/12/2013 17:43

I'm stupidly proud of my knitting. I am so bad at practical stuff I love the fact I made wool stick together.

Was flicking through some festive French cookery magazines today. It's not the first time I've noticed it but the French recipes are so much simpler with fewer infredients than British ones. I think next year I'll subscribe to one. I really need to cut down my cookery collection too. If I make a list of the ones I don't want anymore would any quichesters want them?

Sophiathemistletoefairy · 20/12/2013 17:45

Yes yes yes....I am a cookery book fiend. I love them.

stunt how mny people are actually having turkey? Any?

PetiteRaleuse · 20/12/2013 17:49

I love them too. But I don't use them all and want to buy some more so need to make space :o

Came across a gluhwein recipe the other day in Pru Leith's book. Do you still want one?

HoLilyChristmas311 · 20/12/2013 17:52

I am not allowed any more cookery books. Leo drew the line at 50. I gave away 20 when I moved so I might be allowed some more now?

Sophiathemistletoefairy · 20/12/2013 18:00

Yes pleases.
