Hear hear YW

Was out with a mate today and a tired looking lady was bf a very new baby so we stopped to say nice things - we're both still bf at 12 months - hopefully we cheered her up a bit, i well remember the desperate days of trying to buy a cuppa before the wailing got too bad so i could legitimately sit in a cafe to feed!

BigPigLittlePig · 04/12/2013 19:41

Evening all.

Nice to hear from evil - looking forward to an update.

Flouncy I'm glad the kitchen is coming along, will we be treated to some photos when it's all done?

Misslaugh Thanks - get well soon. Sounds awful.

Zamboni not sure I understood the Q....antenatal/postnatal offering? As in, are they any good? Think they are - we narrowly avoided SCBU, but they are well staffed, and have v good paediatricians here. Some stuff does get moved to a nearby childrens hospital but usually stuff that needs surgery. Send me a pm if you have Qs. Hope she (and baby) are doing ok.

Isles glad work was good, and how great that M had her first steps on her birthday! You'll never forget that date now!

FIL always comments on F - "look at the size of her, what a chunk" etc etc. I feel like saying "well yes, she is getting bigger, because she's a baby who is growing, which means getting taller, broader, heavier" Hmm

MIL told dh I am being v bloody unreasonable today. Tell me what you think. I may have mentioned once or twice the fact that I'm on call on Christmas day, ie. 13 hour shift. I said to dh that I absolutely don't expect him to stay at home all day, but that I would like Fs first Christmas dinner to be with us, as a family. The excitement of crackers, hats, wrapping paper. DH gets this, sort of. MIL does not. She was livid. AIBU? I told dh to tell her to shut her trap Blush as she has never had her family split threeways over the Christmas period so she has no idea what she's talking about.

YellowWellies · 04/12/2013 20:01

BP YANBU. I totally get that. She can have them over for fun, mince pies, turkey sarnies whatever but not the full dinner - but then I guess he'll have to cook something at home so is she worrying that that's antisocial? Could you have your family dinner before Christmas day maybe? I do think anyone who has their Christmas day every year without having to work shouldn't be calling the shots on this one!

Wish me luck. Have just realised that I'm the lynch pin for this freelancing work I just won and that my technical skills swung it for us in front of the client so am trying to negotiate a cheeky rate rise.... why am I so bad at asking for a pay rise!!!! Blush Hmm

Evening all :) Hope everyone has had a good day! E was having a brilliant day until point blank refusing his tea. He likes Shepherd's pie too. He wouldn't eat tea yesterday either. He sometimes pretty much/completely refuses meals the odd time. Does anyone else have this happen? He sometimes has slow days where he doesnt eat much, then greedy days where he eats really quite alot. And then these odd days where one meal he just doesn't eat much at all. Usually tea if anything but sometimes lunch too. He messes around and squeals and whines and if i'm honest manages to wind me up and I don't want to be stressed feeding him again, I thought we were past that!

I shall broach the grape subject carefully next time she's to have him. I will probably say I had a scary experience here with one and explain that I want him to be sitting when he eats everything and definitely no whole grapes!

Trifle - Will eat it without those spongy fingers in, ew!

Really glad you're enjoying work isles brilliant that M took her first steps on her birthday! Awful of PIL to snub her birthday though, nasty gits

Gosh Misslaughalot you sound in such pain! I hope you have a better night tonight, bless you

Glad you're both safe and well Evil and YAY to interwebs :)

Quiche meet sounds nice zamboni :) Hope you get sorted with work, it does sound very stressful

Do you think your kitchen will be sorted by the end of tomorrow flouncy?

aw yw J might only be a little lad but he sounds like he has a MASSIVE personality, and everything is in proportion and he's a healthy little boy :)

Think it was lovely of you to stop and talk that lady pp :)

bplp YANBU!

Good luck yw!!!

FlouncingIsles · 04/12/2013 20:26

I am off xmas day, boxing day and new year's day. I am feeling very grateful for this!!

livenlet · 04/12/2013 20:35

4 year old "everyone in my class has there tree up "
does every one eles in you class have 1 year old that wants to climb , pull , and eat every thing she sees, not looking forward to this promised to do it at the weekend

PurplePidjin · 04/12/2013 20:39

Kyz R rejects medium sized lumps when teething, as does a slightly older friend of his we saw today apparently. Finger food fine, smooth food fine, favourite risottos and pasta gets the bleurgh treatment Xmas Confused

I received two parcels from quiche members today ThanksThanks

Passmethecrisps · 04/12/2013 20:41

I am spoiled with Christmas hols. My dad often worked Christmas Day - cows don't know it's Christmas. And yes bp you get to call the shots.

I have been told that p is a very big girl. I think people lose all sense of what that means. It's like when we were pregnant and ransoms would comment on bump sizes. On the flight to our hols when p was showing off one lady asked her age and sucked in slightly before saying nicely "she's a wee one, isn't she? Perfectly formed though" I suspect she actually knew what she was talking about.

Glad you are having a good time at work isles.

Think DH has stress related gout. Bizarre

PurplePidjin · 04/12/2013 20:43

Hi, livenlet I've gaffa taped the tree to an upturned giant bucket, so far not much interest give it time

Passmethecrisps · 04/12/2013 20:44

kyz sometimes p will eat like a horse and other times she rejects almost everything. I have actually, genuinely learned not to worry about it. Weirdly I think she eats much less now than she did 6 weeks ago. I can only presume she was growing.

Passmethecrisps · 04/12/2013 20:45

Hello livenlet!

No tree here yet but I can guarantee that it becomes just another thing to climb/pull/eat

BigPigLittlePig · 04/12/2013 20:45

Between cat, puppy and F, our tree stands no chance.

6 days and counting btw shiiiiiiit

PetiteRaleuse · 04/12/2013 20:54

kyz LO often ignores dinner in the evening. More often than not she'll then have a pre bedtime snack of bread and cheese, but sometimes she isn't hungry. I guess their appetite fluctuates depending on their calorie needs at that time, much as we do.

piggy yanbu

Sending more hugs to horsey's E who is still in hospital tonight.

I have never worked at Christmas but did pull an all nighter when working in the City on new year's eve. Most of our contracts were renewed on 1/01 and it was a busy time. Good atmosphere though with plenty of champagne from 3pm until breakfast on new year's day. Was appalled when I moved to France and was expected to work boxing day - not a public holiday in France. It is in Lux though. Phew.

ValiumQueen · 04/12/2013 20:56

Put the tree on a high cupboard. Problem solved, providing they cannot climb up the cupboard.

J has been walking all around the lounge all evening like he has been doing it for weeks. Before tonight it has been three or four steps, but tonight he even broke into a little jog.

Evilwater · 04/12/2013 21:04

Hello all, I'm here for an hour. What would you like to know?
So much has happened, I don't know where to start.

Evil

BigPigLittlePig · 04/12/2013 21:09

Tell all evil

Passmethecrisps · 04/12/2013 21:10

Firstly, how are you?

How is N?

How is the house?

Evilwater · 04/12/2013 21:18

I'm ok, I've not burst into tears, or shouted and screamed. I've just got on with everything, and I'm starting to smile again. Feels so werid. I'm very busy all the time.
I'm finding it difficult when I drop off N, cause P is still the nice looking guy (with extra weight) and he's finally making an effort when I drop off N. Of course when I think of all the things that have happened it makes me sad that I Went along with it.

N behaviour is getting better. He's not so clingy, and is starting to eat fresh fruit and veg. Not much, but it's a start.

The rented house, is nice. Pics on Facebook. Went through loads of electric on my key meter the first night here.

Evil

Sophiathesnowfairy · 04/12/2013 21:22

Ooo yesevil full update please.

horseyhope things are ok. Thinking of you. And you misslaugh your poor old ear. Hope you start to feel better soon.

I gave the boys a lasagne tonight that I had bought from a lovely deli yesterday. I assumed it would be ok. DH, fine, DS1fine, but O's skin round his mouth went scarlet and really angry looking. It is sensitive at the mo, a bit of teething rash but it looked awful. This has only happened once before when I made a lovely pasta sauce out of tomatoes and marscapone. As I stick toms in loads of stuff I really don't think is them, and he has homemade tom and lentil soup come to think of it, loads at SILs. I can only think is marscapone, but why just this and no other cheeses? Does it have a different make up? He is ok, has died down. Maybe I should make that pasta sauce again and see what happens.

I have never had to work Christmas day. Grin unless you count, cooking, referring the kids! clearing up and general hostessing.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 04/12/2013 21:25

That sounds all positive evil obviously his behaviour was having an impact on N. So, does having a key meter mean you notice how much Electricty you use more?

Evilwater · 04/12/2013 21:27

Of course your all invited to have a nose around.

P wants to see n twice a week, and have him for all of the day. But I don't think he can cope with n. His house is clean, but very sparce in furniture. I have asked the lawer for us to try mediation. P keeps asking about maintance, and I need to ring the CSA. P always pleads he is poor, but I know other wise. He says in his texts that he only needs to pay £45 per week. Do I believe him, nope. As he says he will pay £63 per week. Hm.......

Anything else?

Evilwater · 04/12/2013 21:28

sophia yes it does! but it also costs that little bit more too.
Evil

Sophiathesnowfairy · 04/12/2013 21:30

Do you feel like you have got yourself back? I remember the best feeling was the freedom to be me.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 04/12/2013 21:31

I thought that it was more expense on a key meter. You will need to be really careful.

Fb Photos look great btw.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 04/12/2013 21:31

Oh bp YANBU. Xx
