Apologies for the x-posting that meant there's no thread link in the last thread Blush.
I'll start this one and hope people find it.

I just looked at my little girl on the bathroom floor ( she's lying on lots of towels) as it's the only way I can get a bath these days and felt this overwhelming sense of unconditional love for her. This is the first time I've felt so over whelmed by how much I love her.

OrangeBlossom2 · 04/12/2013 11:16

flyer Smile

JellyCurls · 04/12/2013 11:23

Grin flyer I remember when DS1 was about a month old I looked at him and started crying cause I loved him so much. My DH just thought I was nuts

GTbaby · 04/12/2013 12:06

I'm now having bath envy. Flyer I think I might become obsessed with you Wink first your fireplace now your baths.

I have lo feeding falling asleep. Every time I try put him down he wakes and cries. Ds 2 is in his cot not going to sleep. I want a shower. But going shipping in an hour and need to pack the kids bag.

Feeling rubbish ATM. Actually last four days all I've done is cry. Family life is not great ATM. But can't update right now.

Right. I'm going for it. I'm going to have a shower.

ananikifo · 04/12/2013 12:16

GT Thanks I hope things get better for you.

flyer I've had that feeling too and it's the best ever.

My six week check went fine. She didn't examine me down below but I did ask her to look at my nipples. Unfortunately it turns out my level of soreness is normal.

OrangeBlossom2 · 04/12/2013 12:18

Sorry to hear things are difficult GT. Two babies so close together is really tough. My SIL has the same age gap as you and really struggled. They play together really nicely now aged two and just turned three. No shame in asking for help. Hope you manage a shower. Xx

OrangeBlossom2 · 04/12/2013 12:19

So much for if it hurts something's wrong then Ana... Sad

Slippysnow · 04/12/2013 12:19

gt hope things get easier for you.

Me and c just got back from his Tt snip, he was a brave boy. Like someone else said he was more concerned at lack of milk before it happened. He's currently asleep on my tummy.

orange your description of the head banging eh eh silence at sight of boob is ds!!!

Soupqueen · 04/12/2013 12:26

GT Thanks

ana, what kind/level of pain have you got? I'm still in pain too, was treated for thrush but don't think it was as it didn't work.

I'm taking G to the drop in clinic in a bit. On Monday she was super grouchy, more spit up than normal, nappies that seemed to bother her, would only sleep while being held by me. She was back to normal yesterday but now seems to be back to Monday. I feel like a bad mother for not seeing about it on Monday, but it's almost like it took a normal day yesterday to show that Monday wasn't just a grumpy day if that makes sense?

She also has a hospital appointment for a clean harness and a bath so I hope the drop in clinic are gentle with me and don't imply I'm neglectful as I'm feeling a bit fragile.

OrangeBlossom2 · 04/12/2013 12:37

Hope it goes ok soup.

OrangeBlossom2 · 04/12/2013 12:39

Glad it went well slippy. We have an appointment with dr at kingston privately on Wednesday next week. Still not sure if he has tt really but they only snip if he does have it (probably an obvious question but I asked anyway Blush)

MrsAFlowerpot · 04/12/2013 12:43

Thanks GT

We ended up at the OOH doctor then got sent to A&E on Monday night as N was really struggling to breath through fits of coughing and lots of grunting while breathing in between. He was on nebulisers through the night and back home yesterday. Still lots of coughing fits which are terrifying, particularly at night, but some smiles during the day so at least sometimes he's happy/not in pain.

We also, regardless of illness, have no real routine and definitely no sleeping through at night - im almost glad as this would definitely have thrown the routine out and I think sometimes that's harder than not having one in the first place! We do do snuggles on my chest too though.

PseudoBadger · 04/12/2013 12:51

Sorry you're not too good GT x

Poor N MrsA :( how is he today?

Ana - have you seen a BF counsellor or similar about pain? GPs aren't BFing experts (unless you're lucky!) and pain should be lessening by now. When is the pain felt?

Thepurplegiraffe · 04/12/2013 13:14

Thanks GT and MrsA. I also have a baby that will settle on anybodies chest but mine, which is sad sometimes as I don't really get any cuddles.

C has a cold today which means I am missing out on the first full get together of my nct group which I was really looking forward to. She has just compensated me though with some lovely (an unusual) smiles.

Lovelybitofsquirrel · 04/12/2013 14:24

Hugs GT and MrsandBabyFlowerpot

Now we're getting well into December I think we need to get in the festive spirit with a few more of these Xmas Smile !!

Slippysnow · 04/12/2013 14:37

I was just reading a thread on aibu about people refusing to indulge their children in the Father Christmas 'lie'. Some think that it is damaging to children to lie.... I find that really sad.

Fair enough if you don't celebrate Christmas at all, just seems harsh to deny fc's existence to small children

OrangeBlossom2 · 04/12/2013 14:38

Oh dear just cried while doing my depression questionnaire with the health visitor, that's not good is it! Overall not depressed though.

Xmas Sad MrsA (there we go squirrel!)

ananikifo · 04/12/2013 14:50

mrsA I'm so sorry. I hope he feels better soon.

soup and pseudo my nipples can be sore sometimes, so that it hurts to have clothes brushing them. I get a sharp pain behind the nipple, which I realise may be let down but I don't know what let down is supposed to feel like. My nipples are still really pink. I just would have tought that this would all be gone by now.

The hv looked and said it was normal, and she seemed to be familiar with thrush and breast feeding. Then I asked the gp because I was there, and she's the gp who does baby clinic so I guess if anyone at the surgery knows about bf it would be her.

OrangeBlossom2 · 04/12/2013 15:46

Are you using Lansinoh Ana? Helps with the clothes brushing hurting sometimes, otherwise nipple shells (though I've stopped using them as they get cold!)

Excited85 · 04/12/2013 15:53

Hi all. Sorry not had chance to post for a while, am reading at nights but find it too hard too type with one hand when feeding!

Hugs for all those with poorly babies and struggling with bf pains etc. definitely with you all on the head butting, dd does it a lot and although I generally find it amusing it does wear a little thin!

Forget who was saying about little ones sleeping on chests - unfortunately I've had dd sleep on my chest for pretty much the last 2 weeks. She has taken quite a dislike to being on her back/in the Moses basket and it's a fight every night to get her to sleep in it. Previously I would feed to sleep and transfer into basket but now she'll huff and puff in her sleep until she starts crying then the only way to calm her down is to latch her back on (I think for comfort more than anything) until falls asleep and process starts again. I counted 7 attempts the other night before giving in and letting her sleep on me again. It's been going on for a couple of weeks in which time we've probably had a total of 6 hours total sleep in basket, the rest (so most of the night, most nights) she is on my chest.

I feel bad about it becoming 'normal' but not sure what else to do...

For those that have had the 6 week apt what should I expect?

Lovelybitofsquirrel · 04/12/2013 16:54

Excited I had mine yesterday combined with baby's 8 week check and jabs. She asked me if my tear was healing fine, how I was feeling, if dh was supportive, was ds smiling and that's all I remember! Did you want to know about baby check too?

Lovelybitofsquirrel · 04/12/2013 16:56

Orange Thanks!! Xmas Wink

Readyasilleverbe · 04/12/2013 18:39

Hi. Hope all those sick babies are on the mend.
Sympathies to all having rough nights at the mo ( probably most of us!), C decided to feed on the hour of 1,2 and 3 this am and the one before. I guess this is cluster feeding, shame he chooses to do it over night! I attempted a cheeky bottle of formula at the 11 pm feed too see if it might see him through a bit longer as im so tired. He took it happily but was hungry 2 hours later!!
Flyer I also had that real total feeling of falling in love today properly for the first time. It's on taken me 5.5 wks and a diagnosis of pnd! Worth the wait though!
He is the only person that could truly appreciate my rendition of estelle and Kanye 's American boy! My rapping and hip hop dancing got lots of smiles! He was prob laughing at me though. At least he can't tell anyone!
Get well soon baby mrsaflower . Xx

ananikifo · 04/12/2013 18:47

Orange I don't use lansinoh because J hates it. He pulls faces and takes longer to latch on at the next feed.

I had J's six week check this afternoon (mine was this morning) and he's still not growing at a fast rate, although the gp wasn't worried at all. The HV's keep asking me how feeding is going and I think I've been a bit too eager to find something wrong. The truth is right now I feel like it's going fine. The HV is coming in a week and I'll ask her not to come for at least a month after that.

OrangeBlossom2 · 04/12/2013 19:05

That's annoying for you Ana. We went to a drop in last week where I was told to move Thomas slightly further back and that has helped a bit with squashed nipple this week. Even though lots of people before said my latch was good. Are there any bf groups at a children's centre near you?
