Apologies for the x-posting that meant there's no thread link in the last thread Blush.
I'll start this one and hope people find it.

Thanks To those with mc anniversaries.

Dinner was nice. I got texts asking me whether it was ok that J was snoring, whether DH needed to stay and watch him if he was calm in his cot, and an update on how much milk he took. Then close to the end they ran out of milk and DH had to defrost more! I came home to a calm, smily baby and a stressed out DH.

Bronzemoth · 03/12/2013 23:05

Thanks for your thoughts guys. Today was so much better than yesterday (9 hours of fun!) and N is now asleep. One thing yesterday did achieve was making tonight seem like a walk in the park. orange he was good as gold until poor dh returned from work (had to convince him it's just coincidence). It can kick off so suddenly.

Hope everyone has a good night tonight.

moonblues · 03/12/2013 23:27

Hello. Feel like I've been away ages. Hope all the babies with whooping cough, croup and colds are feeling better.

Baby C seems to have had a bit of a cold. I think he's also started getting silent reflux. He's been waking up coughing/choking/vomiting which has been a bit alarming. Luckily he's within grabbing distance in his Moses basket, but then spent the rest of the night lying in me whilst I sat up and he started coughing whenever I laid him flat. He's also been very bubbly and mucousy, which is what makes me think it's reflux rather than just a cold.

He also had his first lot of jags this morning. He's spent most of the day asleep.

My eyes are closing as I type, so apologies for typos. Praying for a better night tonight and that all you ladies get good sleeps.

OrangeBlossom2 · 04/12/2013 02:16

What a shame for DH bronze.
Glad you and J were ok Ana. In a way good for DH to see how exhausting it is but glad all went pretty smoothly.
Thomas is getting distracted by the pillows (?!) and not looking at me to feed. So smily and happy at this time of day, it's a shame it's not play time.

Sephy · 04/12/2013 03:27

Ana that sounds lovely. After coming home to a crying me and baby DH took baby for 1.5 hours to let me sleep. He hit a bottle into her but she still spent most of the time crying :-(

She goes down well for the night and sleeps 3.5-4 hours but then really struggles to stay asleep once she's had a night feed. Does anyone else have similar?

JellyCurls · 04/12/2013 03:47

Proud mummy moment : baby J just slept from 8pm till 3.15am Grin I feel almost human again. Pretty awake now though but hopefully will settle again once he's swaddled up cosy.

Hope this wasn't a one off and he passes his sleepiness onto other babies on the bus.

In other news I have been having dizzy spells for past few days, actually had to sit down in street yesterday as was so bad. Anybody else have these?

OrangeBlossom2 · 04/12/2013 07:03

Jelly I did in the first week or so but bit recently. Make sure you are eating and drinking enough. How's your iron?

Flyer747 · 04/12/2013 07:14

Ana it must have been lovely to have a few hours to yourself knowing dh was looking after J.

I feel awful I have a head cold, I must have caught it from baby A. We are both sneezing and snuffly. I ache from head to toe and have a banging headache. Being ill with a baby is not the best Hmm

Flyer747 · 04/12/2013 07:15

Jelly I was going to say about iron levels also.

I had a section too and lost 1.3l blood and was told to take iron tablets.

ananikifo · 04/12/2013 07:24

I'm thinking of all the poor mums and babies who aren't feeling well. Thanks

moonblues they get refluxy when they have colds. I hope baby C gets better soon, and I hope his reflux passes with he cold.

flyer that sucks. The last thing you need is a cold now.

I fell asleep with J on my chest two nights in a row now. It's terrifying, but I'm not gong to lie, it's lovely to wake up with him curled up on me like a little kitten.

Lovelybitofsquirrel · 04/12/2013 07:41

Sephy We had the same, being wide awake after night feed, never discovered a failsafe way to fix it I'm afraid, but being in sleeping bag helped. Once he'd started doing a longer stint asleep it wasn't long til he started sleeping more and it seems less of a problem to stay up from 5 or 6am than 3 or 4!

PseudoBadger · 04/12/2013 08:23

Poor C has a cough and slight temp. She's miserable and is due her jabs tomorrow.

How is baby MrsA?

Sephy · 04/12/2013 08:34

Thanks squirrel. Think I got her to doze in 30min stretches from 4, lying next to get in the bed, so at least I got a few naps too.

Pseudo, hope little C recovers soon.

Ana, where do you sleep with him on your chest? I am so tempted to try it too when she sleeps so much better on me.

Shootingstarsandcomets · 04/12/2013 08:38

I sleep with B on my chest sometimes too ana, it's the loveliest thing to do. I prop myself up on pillows and put pillows either side of me incase he plops off but he never does, he's like a little magnet! Enjoy it now because soon they'll be too big to do it. I can barely get ds1 to sit still long enough to have his nappy changed let alone a nice cuddle.......unless he's ill of course and then I can't get him off me!
Relatively good night here B did a 10-3 stretch for me so I feel rather spritely although still have massive bags under my eyes.

OrangeBlossom2 · 04/12/2013 09:27

Tom comes and sleeps on my chest every morning once DH goes to work for an extra hour or so of nap time for me. I don't sleep deeply so don't panic about it even though not really meant to. It's probably one of the only parts of a routine we have haha.

He was WIDE awake after 2am feed last night. Not crying, just wouldn't close his eyes and kicking/waving arms around and then cried a bit if I went to sleep for about an hour. I think I probably let him sleep too much in the afternoon but hard to make him stay awake.

Home visit from HV today to do depression questionnaire. I know they won't mind a bit of mess but must tidy up last nights dinner things and sort the living room out a bit. Sling time Thomas!

ananikifo · 04/12/2013 09:36

Sephy this happens at night when I'm exhausted. I feed him slouching in bed with pillows supporting me, or sometimes laying down. We feed with lights off at night. Then we both fall asleep. He does sleep really well they way. It just breaks every single safe sleeping guideline, hence my fear. It's only happened on a few occasions so hopefully not again.

I managed to get him back to sleep at 8 am this morning, a minor miracle, but then I used that time to shave my legs for my six week check and hang up laundry. I wish I could have used it to sleep!

OrangeBlossom2 · 04/12/2013 09:44

The nurse was lucky I even showered for my 6 week check...

OrangeBlossom2 · 04/12/2013 09:47

Hope it goes ok Ana.

Flyer747 · 04/12/2013 09:52

A is sleeping better last night was 1130-6am no feed in that time either.
I'd like her to go down at 10pm but she is still too young for routines. She is sleeping so much better these days fx it lasts.

Soupqueen · 04/12/2013 10:03

orange, sounds like we had exactly the same night!

I remained fully clothed during my 6 week check, I did shower just in case!

I wish G would sleep on my chest, it sounds like such a lovely, snuggly cuddle. If I ever put her on my chest, she starts head bobbing and rooting, regardless of how recently she was fed.

Flyer747 · 04/12/2013 10:08

I love the head bobbing it's so funny sometimes A will literally head butt my chest, I do laugh Grin

roofio87 · 04/12/2013 10:17

last night H had his first ever screaming for no reason for a full hour. I'm no complaining cos he never does that but it was quite surprising! I don't know how people do that all the time! it was day two after jabs so not sure if he was feeling poorly or in pain. anyway gave him a spoonful of calpol and he calmed down and slept from 11 till 7 30 then went back from 8 till 10!!! amazing!!

we had our 8 week check yesterday, all good with H. his heart seems fine and everything else is good. he's following the 50th centile for weight, the 75th for length and the 9th for head size!!! I knew it as he's out growing his 0-3 month clothes but the 0-3 month hats are all still big!!haha.

sorry to those who are poorly and have poorly babies!! Biscuit Brew

xuntitledx · 04/12/2013 10:41

I'm jealous of all of your night routines!

LO won't go down before midnight and is still up every 3 hours for feeds.

OrangeBlossom2 · 04/12/2013 10:43

I'm sure it will even out Roofio.

Yes headbuts here with insistent eh eh eh eh eh noise getting more cross until I undo my bra the big smile usually or contented silence. I wonder if this is where boys learn to love boobs.

GeorgieJo · 04/12/2013 11:01

I am also the recipient of head butts regardless of how recently we have fed…

Have to admit it is incredibly annoying when I am exhausted at the end of the day trying to snuggle down a fussy baby and DH comes homes, takes him in his arms and S quietens immediately.

Keep telling DP it is simply because nothing about him smells of milk, but he tells everyone that he has the magic touch. Grrrr.

untitled like you we are still feeding every 3/4 hours. Also jealous of the babies who are going much longer through the night!
