Apologies for the x-posting that meant there's no thread link in the last thread Blush.
I'll start this one and hope people find it.

MrsA I had whooping cough this time last year and the cough was horrid. I found going into bathroom after DH had had his shower helped. He is in there for hours so plenty if steam. Big hugs to baby

Routine is getting here now feeds at 7, 11, 3, 7 and then 2am. Goes for big nap in cot in afternoon 12.30 till 3) and bed at 8 till 7am feed. Hope this improved routine will somehow improve his muscle tone Hmm and stop him turning blue.

I had a quick jog while pushing pram the other day and went over on my ankle , so be excercise here for a while longer till the relaxin is fully gone

roofio87 · 02/12/2013 14:01

flyer I try to let H's feed settle a little before giving him the gripe water. his wind tends to hit him half an hour after feed.

my little boy is being so cute today. He's usually a very independent and non clingy baby but since his jabs he's just wanted to cuddle. he's slept ever since but cries if I put him down. would be a nightmare if he was always like this, but for a one off its nice to feel wanted!!

OrangeBlossom2 · 02/12/2013 15:08

Ouch jelly be careful all you crazy runners. A brisk walk each day is plenty to work up a sweat for me at the moment and would like to start Pilates again as long as doesn't make tummy worse. I get out of breath carrying Tom up two flights of stairs at baby massage so definitely not very fit at all anymore.

MrsAFlowerpot · 02/12/2013 15:09

Thank you for all the support! We have a week's worth of medicine but the doctor said it could go on for about 2 months and not to worry too much as long as it doesn't get worse. DS is very sleepy in between coughing but feel better that we're starting to get medicine in to him. Thanks for all the bath tips...will try that tonight.

Flyer I always give DS 2.5ml ahead of a feed as wind seems to grip him part way through. With DD I then gave a further 2-2.5 at the end of each feed.

OrangeBlossom2 · 02/12/2013 15:10

I have been looking through all the photos we have taken of Thomas since he was born to print some as Christmas presents. Getting quite emotional looking! He really has changed loads and I can see now how jaundiced he looked.

MrsAFlowerpot · 02/12/2013 15:10

Sorry orange meant to say the GP said the WC jab isn't a live one

OrangeBlossom2 · 02/12/2013 15:11

Me again. I meant to say flyer, there are different types. The main branded one is dill and something else, we also have the boots own brand one which is apple and bicarbonate of soda. You could try a different brand if A still doesn't like it?

OrangeBlossom2 · 02/12/2013 15:13

Ok mrsA, just really unlucky then Sad two months is a long time in a little person's life. I really hope it. Clears up quicker.

roxvox · 02/12/2013 15:23

purplegiraffe thanks for that. Yes I do have quite a fast letdown too, and I wondered if it was that. I also think it might be tiredness. Weirdly she seems to feed fine during the night feeds when she is half asleep. She'll latch on, feed for 5-15 minutes and then fall back asleep for 3-4 hours! But during the day it seems like a constant battle. Seems the wrong way round to me as during the night feeds my boobs are more engorged (because she goes longer between feeds) and she's probably less able to handle it being sleepy I would've thought. I'll be interested to hear what your specialist says today.

MrsA sorry to hear that your LO has whooping cough. I don't know a lot about it, but I hope baby flowerpot gets well very soon.

orange thanks for sharing about your 6 week check. I'm pleased to hear that fibre, water and anusol are the right course of action for fissures as that's the same as I am doing and things do seem to be less painful thank goodness. I've got my appointment tomorrow, fx that my doctor won't be so rushed as I have a list of questions too!

legallyblond · 02/12/2013 16:52

V busy as DD is off school with a virus-y cold and cough thing plus a temperature....

Flyer and everyone else - the twins, like DD, had really pretty bad wind and silent reflux (borderline for meds - def meds if getting it to them (bf only!) weren't such a gaff). They're 12 weeks tomorrow and are much improved in the last week or so. I only need to keep them upright for 5 mins or so after a feed, but the cot is still propped up.

Orange - my episiotomy actively hurt for 8 weeks, maybe 10, and I noticed an occasional dull ache or twinge for another couple of months. After that it really was totally healed and I forgot I ever had it.

I went to the GP today re "down there" too. Felt a painful lump on one side and was v wary as, about a decade ago, had an abscess there that had to be removed under a c traumatic general in a Paris hospital!! Any hoo, in case anyone else gets it, it's v common when bf and its a block and then infection in the glands that produce the sex lube! If nipped in the bud, it's antibiotics (which I've got), if left its an op to drain the cyst that forms. Yuk! So tender lump = straight to GP!

OrangeBlossom2 · 02/12/2013 16:56

Interesting, thanks legally. Hope it clears up for you soon.

Readyasilleverbe · 02/12/2013 17:43

Hi all
Sending you love mrsaflower and get well baby flower. X
Hope all other coldy babies are feeling better.
So doctor this morning was lovely. Gave me 45 mins of her time in a 10 min appt. hope she gets home tonight! Poor people behind me. She thinks that my anxiety and tearfulness has gone beyond the realms of what's normal and after much discussion with her and my long stuffering fiancé I have decided to go on medication. I am so shocked that this has happened to me I never I imagined this scenario at all. I have been assured that the meds are safe for bf.
I initially was very ashamed which I know is silly but now feel hopeful that things will improve over the next few wks. I can't bear being like this around my poor baby. He needs me to be my usual happy self.
Legally hope you and your dd feel better soon.
On a positive note C is 5 wks today and now weighs 8lb8...nearly 2lb since birth.

OrangeBlossom2 · 02/12/2013 17:49

Thanks ready. I am so glad dr was helpful and hope things improve for you now.

MrsAFlowerpot · 02/12/2013 18:11

Thanks Ready xx

Thepurplegiraffe · 02/12/2013 18:39

Roxvox I have noticed that too. She is half asleep now and latching on ok though not eating much. I have expressed beforehand though, to make it easier for her. I am seeing the bf councillor tomorrow so will let you know.

Thepurplegiraffe · 02/12/2013 18:44

[Thanks] Ready sounds like you are doing all the right things and it can happen to anyone. Hope it improves with the meds.

Shootingstarsandcomets · 02/12/2013 18:54

Don't be ashamed ready it's good you are getting help.
We have had the worst possible day today..... Ds1 was a misery from the time he woke, he is teething again so understandably so but oh my goodness what hard work. He refused to eat anything for lunch except 5 grapes, then refused to nap but screamed when I got him up then screamed some more whilst we went to buy more calpol, picked at his tea and then I put him to bed ab hour earlier than normal so he'll probably be up at 5 tomorrow. Oh the joys! Am now upstairs trying to settle baby b who is of course wide awake.

ananikifo · 02/12/2013 19:08

ready I'm glad you've been listened to and hope you get back to your normal self soon.

MrsA I hope the cough doesn't last long and the poor little man feels better.

emmo thanks for sharing about your baby. I really think that with the right support DH's cousin could have just as successful a life as before, and the baby will be a joy. I'm excited that J will have a friend of a similar age in the family.

J has been on me all day, either feeding or sleeping between feeds with his head on my boob. Anything less and it was uncontrollable crying. Our normal sling was in the wash (chocolate stainsBlush) so I tried our other one, a woven wrap. Cue more crying as I try to figure out how to wrap him up in it! We only figured it out at about 3:30 so I got an hour of washing up and folding laundry before DH came home.

flyer congrats in getting your toe nails done. I'm jealous. I thought I could do my nails on mat leave and it would be such a treat because I normally can't have painted nails at work. Now I know why people laughed at me when I said that.

Pinkush · 02/12/2013 19:55

MrsA get well soon to your LO and hugs for you looking after her. I hope the, antibiotics kick in soon and that the steam eases her symptoms. G is very Coldy and had a few choking episodes last night. She went bright red and although it only lasted a few secs was v scary. DH snored through it all!
Ready I'm so glad you were properly listened to. One of my best friends had very similar symptoms and found taking meds incredibly helpful
Shooting. I had,a similar day on Friday when Ds perforated his ear drum , I felt awful because just thought he was being wingy.
Flyer well done,on the nail painting! I need to book appt for cut and highlights, before the xmas dos. roots so awful although no sign,of the dreaded post partum moult just yet!

Bronzemoth · 02/12/2013 23:09

flower you poor things hope your little one gets better soon.

Also ready Thanks

Today is a one step back day. Cluster feeding this evening and colic since about 3pm. Came close to ringing cry-sis but we have tried pretty much everything on their website. Sending thoughts to everyone else having tough days.

Pinkush · 03/12/2013 02:12

Thanks bronze. Hope LO has now settled.
Last night I didn't get to sleep until 5am after I'd given G some Calpol. So much better tonight thankfully. Hope all other poorly babies are on the mend X

rubytwosday · 03/12/2013 04:16

Thanks MrsA and babyA, I hope the drugs do their thing really quickly, Ready and Bronze
Soup and Purple, A was 10 weeks yesterday, have ebf but still having very erratic supply. Sometimes leak loads / have engorged boobs but sometimes ( like today), they feel 'empty' ( I know that boobs can't be empty but the squishy, small feeling). I think A is having a growth spurt as she had suddenly gone from feeding 10 mins per time to 20-30 mins. Cluster fed from about 5-9.30 this evening but was getting more and more hungry and frustrated at lack of milk on tap so eventually we caved and have her some formula.... Feel a bit sad that I haven't managed to ebf but know that it's much more inportant that she's happy and not hungry. She then slept for 3.5 hours! That's the most she's slept since she was a week old. Not sure if it was the formula or she was exhausted from the unsuccessful cluster feeding.

OrangeBlossom2 · 03/12/2013 04:24

Hope you got some rest in the end bronze, Thanks Ruby.

OrangeBlossom2 · 03/12/2013 07:14

Thomas woke up smiling and wide eyed this morning. Much better than the usual grizzle. Fingers crossed the cold is retreating. Now he appears to be making a start on the six week milk fest.

Flyer747 · 03/12/2013 08:02

A had mucus in her nappy last night and this morning when she pood I presume this is because she has a cold? Anyone else had this or can confirm it's normal ?
