Apologies for the x-posting that meant there's no thread link in the last thread Blush.
I'll start this one and hope people find it.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
GTbaby · 28/11/2013 16:07

My HV came once each child on day 10. gave me a bunch of leaflets and told me about weigh ins.

MrsHoratioNelson · 28/11/2013 16:27

Ditto GT. Mine's hopeless - missed our first appointment completely (when I was pg) and never finishes a bloody sentence! I've only seen her once since C was born and I've no idea whether I'm supposed to see her more or should be going to the clinic or what.

OrangeBlossom2 · 28/11/2013 16:36

Thomas was actually fine at baby massage, much better than last week. The saline drops worked well to loosen the bogies and he didn't cry. Did a spectacular vomit all over my boob/hair/jeans/sofa/himself afterwards probably because had been forcusing on tummy but he didn't seem at all fussed.

Slippy grr I hate waiting in for people who never come. How annoying.

Bought some Christmas outfits in primark for him and me today including leggings from the girls section but I am sure he won't mind!

emmoB13 · 28/11/2013 16:52

My HV was a man who was a student. I was nervous when i first met him because i wasn't expecting a guy but he was actually really nice. I agree their visits can be pretty pointless though - he talked me through EVERY leaflet (zzzzzz). It was the midwives who visited me after who showed no interest in baby at all! I was looking after my mums puppy and they just fussed over her and only looked at H to weigh him.

Orange Glad T liked baby massage :) H likes the massage everywhere but his tummy - he really hates his tummy being messed with but relaxes well for the rest of it.

Rox i agree some of the PND questions pretty much every new mum would say yes to! Especially the tiredness and feeling overwhelmed etc.. Sorry your feeling so anxious - will you go back to your GP?

Nat im glad you went to winter wonderland :) did DD have a good day? How was baby when you got back?

I think im having my first period in nearly a year and it HURTS! I never really had painful periods but this is something else. Luckily H had a sleepy day so i could curl up on the couch with him scoffing chocolate (so much for the diet!). Anyone else had theirs yet? I'm at 9 weeks today.

For christmas we are getting DP an elf onsie we saw in Tesco and H one i saw in mothercare. DP wants to replicate buddy and his dad from the film elf ha.

roxvox · 28/11/2013 17:36

emmo thank you Smile I intend to mention it to my GP at my 6 week check (actually 8.5 weeks) next week. I used to suffer from panic and anxiety attacks in certain situations (meetings, lectures etc), so this is a different sort of anxiety, but I am seeing the same signs. It's stupid stuff like when I am home alone in the shower, although I can see A lying asleep in bed from the shower, I still visualise someone breaking in and stealing her! Ridiculous, but no matter how much I tell my brain to shut up it still carries on!

I am absolutely loving the idea of replicating Elf emmo, please tell me you'll post a picture for us!

roxvox · 28/11/2013 17:50

Oh, and those talking about weight loss, for those breast feeding - months 3-6 are meant to be the months when you'll see the biggest weight loss!

dontworryjustpanic · 28/11/2013 18:12

I confess I haven't read anything for about 4 days so I apologise for just butting in but I need to get this off my chest!

Don't talk to old ladies on buses! They can't resist trampling all over the fragile emotions of a new mummy! A lady came & sat next to me to coo over my toddler & 3-wk old baby and She felt she had to exclaim what a worry it must be to bring a precious new life into such a wicked & dangerous world. Why would you say something like that? Don't we have enough guilt & anxiety to deal with?

a similar thing happened with DS 18 months ago. An elderly lady badgered my age out of me & then asked if it didn't bother me that I'd be nearly 50 when he sstarted secondary school.

Grrrrrrrr Angry Sweet old ladies? Pay - no such thing!

OrangeBlossom2 · 28/11/2013 18:17

Seems you attract crazy bus people don'tworry! Grin
Smile sweetly and back away.

whistlingdixie · 28/11/2013 18:41

You should've said 'doesn't it bother you that you've turned into that meddlesome, old bat that everyone tries to avoid?' ;-)

JellyCurls · 28/11/2013 19:01

Our HV has been out every week since J was discharged from MW care. We saw them last at 6 weeks, GP at 8 weeks and now we have GP at 9 weeks and HV to house again at 10 weeks. Hopefully they are done visiting after that.

Baby J had a 2 hour afternoon nap in his cot today, never even woke when DS sang him a lullaby very loudly while playing with a set of bells

ananikifo · 28/11/2013 19:13

I think I've been in a short feed-short nap on my chest-cry-short feed cycle for the last 8 hours since the HV left. J is sleepy and quiet, then cries a pitiful cry. I've tried to express but had the most unproductive day- 1.5 oz in total. Coupled with the weigh in this morning in getting worried. I just want this poor little man to be better. Sad

MrsHoratioNelson · 28/11/2013 19:15

Sigh. DH has a day off today so I was looking forward to a bit of a break. He has managed a grand total of about 2 hours (most of whivh I was there for too) in between clearing some weeds in the garden (yet another essential and urgent job Hmm) and inviting a friend round for a beer.

And his parents are coming tomorrow for the day. Deep joy.

legallyblond · 28/11/2013 19:21

My HV this time round has been good - the community MWs post natal were crap saying I wouldn't be able to bf etc. my HV came to the house after MW discharge twice a week, then weekly then last a fortnight after the 6 week check. And she also invited me to postnatal classes and phoned to remind me where to go for weigh in!

I got the twins weighed on Tues - they've each jumped up the centiles again! They're on 50th (H) and 25th (V) after being born right down at the bottom. I think they're just "correcting" themselves as they were small because they were multiples and early. Funnily enough, DD did the opposite - she corrected down from 91st to 50th - she was big because she was two weeks late! The twins and DD shared a due date(bizarre, I know) but were born a month and a day apart... And yet they're judged on the same chart... Hmm

Bowlfull - I did exactly the same with feeding DD to sleep, then cuddling at about 9 months, then she just needed a kiss and would fall asleep (easily by 18 months). It was easy and no crying!

OrangeBlossom2 · 28/11/2013 19:25

Legally how interesting that they all had the same due date, you must have a very fertile day - legs firmly crossed that day next year!

Ana Thomas has been doing the same this afternoon. I only managed 50ml too - maybe they are taking a lot despite short snuffly feeds. Hope they are both rid of these colds soon.

legallyblond · 28/11/2013 19:26

MrsHN - has your DH tried having C on his chest and snuggling while doing something fun, like drinking beer and (in my DH's case) watching rugby? This was how DH began really "fathering" from v tiny and they both loved it. She would come out pink as a lobster and hot from being all cuddled up, but no harm done! He'd take her just after a feed and sometimes they'd both fall asleep on the sofa! Again, not brilliant but not actively endangering DD, so I just left them to it in the basis that that was his way or bonding!

OrangeBlossom2 · 28/11/2013 19:27

Grrr mrs H. Would he respond well to a list of 'jobs' that need doing next time. This could include bath for MrsH etc as well as baby tasks. my DH likes crossing jobs off lists.

legallyblond · 28/11/2013 19:29

Eek - I know Orange!!!!

Hugs Ana - hope he feels better soon x

MrsHoratioNelson · 28/11/2013 19:35

Legally he's pretty good with the sling, but he doesn't get that sometimes C just wants a bit of interaction - he often sits with C propped up on his lap while doing something else. Apart from the fact that he's not holding on and C has a tendency to fall over, C (understandably) quickly gets bored. He also doesn't get that if C is squirming around over his shoulder, he's just trying to get comfortable.

Orange - a list is almost always ignored in favour of things that DH deems more important or urgent. That's how it came to pass that he spent one Christmas Eve (before a houseful of visitors descended) cleaning and tidying the garage...

He's really not completely useless he's just got no idea (and no patience to learn) what to do with C and no concept that just because something is inportant to him, it doesn't make it important IYSWIM.

OrangeBlossom2 · 28/11/2013 19:38

Haha oh dear, maybe his parents can spend tomorrow in the garage.

legallyblond · 28/11/2013 19:53

He he Orange!

MrsHN - it'll be better once C is into toys, as there'll be something to "do" with him iyswim... It won't take long. The twins already love (smile at and laugh at) DD's old black and white board books (the "baby sees" spots and dots etc bough 2nd hand off amazon - brilliant) and Lamaze panda rattle Grin

In the meantime... Does the attic need a sort? Wink

Flyer747 · 28/11/2013 19:54

Ana baby A has a cold and is not interested in feeding or when she is she's been extremely fussy on the breast, pulling off crying etc and hasn't slept all day just cried and wants to be held constantly. Hugs to you and baby J

MrsHoratioNelson · 28/11/2013 19:59

Ha, no legally he did that the week before C arrived...

Orange suits me Wink

Flyer747 · 28/11/2013 20:14

MrsH Thanks men! Dp decided to sort out his filing cabinet last night much to my despair

thethreeblondies · 28/11/2013 20:29

My DH made a list for "us" to do the week after E was born when he was off work! I managed to get 1 item done this week (4 weeks later!) we were battling out last night when the xmas decs can go up, he wants rest of list completed Hmm he doesn't see the everyday stuff washing etc as jobs!

JellyCurls · 28/11/2013 20:52

Legally our DD and DS1 have same due date but there is 2 weeks between them. DD1 dropped off bottom of scales weight wise and still struggles to keep weight on where as DS shot up to 98th centile then dropped to 50th when he started walking about. DS2 is heavier but looks much leaner, built like a beanpole. His muscle tone has been awful today or maybe I'm just noticing it now. Trying not to be a worrier but it's difficult to keep thinking positively. My arms are sore from supporting him today and actually have had to use my chin to help balance him when he's being winded Sad.
