Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

My DDs really understand that they have boundaries and get told off because they are loved and have lots of people who care about them.

Sounds nightmarish and v claustrophobic gt I am always so happy to come home at night and shut the door on me and the boys. Can't wait till our gates go up and we finally get a wall round the house!

FlouncingIsles · 18/11/2013 13:37

thank you yw that makes more sense... I hope she appreciates my boring bedtimes and hours spent doing the menial boring jobs when she is older (we have a lot of fun too - we've just come back from running through leaves with A in the park Grin )

GT I feel your pain. I used to think nothing of walking miles and miles. Today I did half an hour and am knackered.

My question from last night, sorry in advance if this is long. I'll try and break it down!

I've been having a battle to get her to drink formula. She is getting a 6oz bottle at bedtime which she drinks all of, and 6oz at breakfast, which she usually either throws away entirely or leaves at least 1/2oz. She is offered another two 6oz bottles throughout the day but is completely leaving them. This has been on going for the past 2-3 weeks and I had put it down to teething. Over the weekend she has refused ANY of her morning milk (regardless of whether it is given before/after/with breakfast). So she has only really been getting 6oz max a day. Which I know is really bad. (I've been filling her up with yoghurts and cheese to compensate - sorry dairy free-ers!)

So this morning, I thought fuck it, and gave her cows milk. (she is 2 weeks off her 1st birthday). In a bid to save time she usually gets a cup of milk with a bowl of dry cheerios and either orange or apple segments to eat while I empty the dishwasher and sort the dog etc.

Anyway, cows milk = an absolute success!! She drank the lot, forced her cup into my hand demanding more!

So, should I offer her cows milk with lunch and just have formula for bedtime until I've finished the last 3 tins we have? Do a complete switch to cow's milk now?

And if the latter, how much milk should I offer her? And should I be supplementing with any vitamins?

Sorry if this is really obvious and/or already been covered.

Afternoon all Smile

So busy, but desperately trying to find time to post.

Isles, O is 1 next week and I had been planning a gradual changeover to cows milk but he doesn't seem to have noticed any difference so I am going to carry on doing 50/50 until this last tub of formula is finished and then switch completely to cows.

Took O to a new group at the children's centre today. He is used to being the oldest at groups but today he was the youngest. Anyway, he loved it. I was surprised how confident he was, crawling around and barely giving me a second glance. Very proud.

The Children's Centre have also offered to give me some support with getting back into work and are doing a home visit.

I have my London date on Saturday which I am really looking forward to. I have my outfit ready - having been styled by Lily Wink

Will try and catch up properly later!

ChasingDaisy · 18/11/2013 13:58

According to my 2014 diary, clocks go forwards on Mothers Day next year. Happy Mothers Day, lose an hour in bed Hmm

Sophiathesnowfairy · 18/11/2013 14:36

isles I have no professional advice! just advice from being a mum! but I would not worry too much at this point as she is nearing 1. O really cut back on his milk as he approached one and I had been told not to worry about it and up his real food. She might be getting all she needs from regular food. What I have done is introduced a vitamin. He is having a Bio Care multi vitamin which is drops that you put In a drink of water. Tbh a medicine on a spoon may be easier and I will swap to that when I have finished this one.

Sounds brilliant chasing we are starting in a new family group at the sure start centre on Thursday. Officially we are not covered by a sure start catchment but I have been referred by home start as I am an isolated mummy Hmm as part of it someone looks after O so I can do some constructive play or craft with DS1. I had my home visit on
Friday and really enjoyed chatting to the woman about what they do and just about the area really. I am trying to branch out from the family a bit and make my own friends but it is really hard and a lot of effort. (Not because I don't like them I really do, but I want to have my own circle of friends. Or even just 1 friend)

Sophiathesnowfairy · 18/11/2013 14:41

Oh and also. I am getting Christmas presses at the mo and DDs and DS (3) I can find loads for but poor old little O I can,t find anything for. So far he has a pair of PJs, a book and a ball run thing. Any ideas? (That is not a walker, a shape sorter and will last a few months?) as an example so far DS1 has a castle, a jigsaw, some pjs, a book, and some duplo.

What about stickle bricks? Are they too old. Confused

ChasingDaisy · 18/11/2013 14:46

Bath toys Sophia? I was actually thinking of buying some Duplo for O as I figure he can grow into it and it should last a few years. I want to start his Christmas shopping but need to wait and see what people buy for his birthday first.

YellowWellies · 18/11/2013 14:50

I've ordered J a fab pair of leggings with a Christmas pud on his arse off Not on the High Street. Smile

Sophia your family homestead always makes me Smile it reminds me of a nicer and newer version of our old cottage on the island.

I've just been to drop off something at Pass's school. It reet took me back wandering round a high school. There's something so timeless about school corridors. I felt naughty for being out of class at lesson time Grin .

Sophiathesnowfairy · 18/11/2013 14:50

That's a good idea. chasing as we don't have many/any bath toys for him. Just a couple of Thomas things for DS1

Sophiathesnowfairy · 18/11/2013 14:52

Did you not have a hall pass yw. Grin

ChasingDaisy · 18/11/2013 16:23

Evil (and Isles) I just wanted to send you a message of hope. I found things pretty tough when I left XP, but it has been almost 6 months now (next month, which I will be marking by going to The Big Reunion concert Grin) and me & O actually have a pretty awesome life Smile my diary has never been so full. I literally have only a handful of free days before Christmas. I am getting back in touch with old friends and making new ones. So things are just waiting to get better for you, I promise Smile

YellowWellies · 18/11/2013 16:28

Chasing that's lovely Smile when I left my emotionally abusive ex I was overwhelmed by how wonderful my old pals were, many of whom I'd neglected or he'd actively ostracised - it made me realise what a good relationship (just platonic friendships) were and no doubt why he'd not liked me hanging round with them. Criticising my friends and sulking about time spent with pals is now on my shit bloke warning sign list. Here's to your awesome new life!

Pikz · 18/11/2013 16:37

Chasing that was just awesome to read Grin

Sophiathesnowfairy · 18/11/2013 17:05

chasing that is brilliant. Your story has been inspiring and I think you might be my hero. Xx (keep thinking your journey through internet, ahem, introductions, might make a good chic lit read. Why don't you journal it and see!)

ChasingDaisy · 18/11/2013 17:14

Blush I really hope it didn't come across as a stealth, or not so stealth, boast. The good days are becoming more frequent now and I have learnt the value of true friends. People have been surprisingly forgiving about my neglecting them whilst in a relationship. I must not let that happen again.

That's a wonderful idea Sophia, I am going to start writing my experiences down. If nothing else, it will be good to look back on. The guy I'm meeting on Sat is my favourite one so far. If anyone wants to be nosy I can post his pic on the FB page. Imagine his horror if he knew Grin. And Grin at 'internet introductions'

PetiteRaleuse · 18/11/2013 17:23

chasing you are more than welcome to boast as much as you like. You've come on so far it was a lovely post.

ChasingDaisy · 18/11/2013 17:32

Oh fuck, I'm gonna cry.

Pikz · 18/11/2013 17:36

Right chasing we need pics of man and your lily styled outfit!

Lily311 · 18/11/2013 17:41

I didn't style her! I just did not agree with her first choice Grin.

FlouncingIsles · 18/11/2013 17:56

Chasing your post is truly inspirational.

I have spent the afternoon making a spreadsheet of my income vs outgoings between now and Feb, and then my projected income/outgoings for the next two years. Put it this way, I am feeling very positive about the future and this seemingly pointless exercise has reassured me on a number of fronts Grin

But I am still financially fucked until February...

Sophiathesnowfairy · 18/11/2013 17:57

chasing

Let's see the piccies!

You are not boasting, we have been virtually holding your hand all along the road and we can see my lovely.

Have any other quiche babies decided they want to feed themselves? With a spoon? Mayhem at our dinner table the last few days.

Lily311 · 18/11/2013 18:04

sophia no, however she thinks I am a slave and refuses to pick up any toys. She needs me to hand them over. Mayhem in our sitting room as clearly mummy is saying no. She does not like it.

ChasingDaisy · 18/11/2013 18:50

Or my second choice Lily Grin

I'll post some pics on FB now.

Sophia, O has managed to feed himself yoghurt once, but it was extremely messy. Give him a spoon and an empty bowl and he will sit happily 'mixing' things for hours.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 18/11/2013 19:22

Yeah we mix too. And tap in the bowl. And then very deliberately yap it out onto the mat!

PetiteRaleuse · 18/11/2013 19:38

We're just obsessed with fridge magnets here.
