vq she says daddy, papa, Gabor (my brother), shoe, bru (brunyo, her fav toy), bye, kata ( my goddaughter), dog, hi, and the new one is labda which is ball in Hungarian. I will put a video on FB. She uses them in context not just randomly.

ValiumQueen · 02/11/2013 18:30

Wow. Just Wow Lily.

Tonight I will be shovelling shit, vomit and piss, shouting at DH, trying to get moments of sleep, and feeling utterly fucked off with the world.

PetiteRaleuse · 02/11/2013 18:34

Afraid our trips to the forest are over until new year. The boar and deer hunting season has started. Dangerous re gun shots and those areas that aren't hunted are full of wildlife chortling at being spared (the roads are dangerous at this time of year as they move from forest to forest - legally each certain square acreage can't be hunted at oncebut there are always poachers). Boar are dangerous buggers to cross and are twitchy at this time of year. They don't normally go for children but would go for the dog. Haven't seen any this year but last year or the year before was walking through corn fields with a friend and one was very close as it did the 'attack' warning snort. We ran. They don't sprint far so you can outrun them but with the girls it wouldn't be as easy. I much prefer boar on my plate, yum.

PetiteRaleuse · 02/11/2013 18:35

vq sending you hugs from across the Channel. I'm fucking fed up on your behalf.

StuntedFrankenNun · 02/11/2013 18:43

The only way I know to get eye drops into a ten year old toddler PR is to lie them down and put the eye drops in the corner of their closed eyes. Then when they open them the drops go in. It's a pretty crap method unfortunately.

Sophia give Grabbers a try, it's the Irish version of Tremors.

Sorry you felt neglected Izzy, I can't remember anyone's birthday apart from Detective's O.

vq hugs.

pr zoo? Playground? Eating out? Just to kill the time?

ChasingDaisy · 02/11/2013 18:44

Tonight I am sitting on the sofa as usual watching Strictly & X Factor, feeling fucked off on behalf of the whole quiche and eating a shit load of chocolate. And swearing a lot, evidently.

O is being a nightmare for XP to put to bed Grin

I am going to the fireworks with Just Friends guy tomorrow night so my weekend isn't a complete washout. I am meeting some of his friends too which will be good. I plan to not dress warmly enough so he has to lend my his jacket Grin

PurplePidjin · 02/11/2013 18:56

Minibeast hunt? Autumn leaf collection to glue onto paper?

Chasing just :o

Vvvdp is not helping mydiet. He went to the shop for bread and milk and came back with wine and cheesecake Hmm

Jims · 02/11/2013 18:59

Sorry about more illness vq.

Hope you have a fab date tomorrow chasing.

That's amazing talking lily! We have 'dat' with pointing & mumumumum & dadadada so far.

Sickness has struck here too. F has streaming snot and a temp. Why do they get ill at the same time as cutting teeth? He was not a happy bunny today which is a shame as we're at the in-law's and they dote on the kids.

Jj - that's a fab coincidence, am looking forward to it even more now. We'll have to take a photo of F&L to add to the facebook quiche meet pics! Our apt is 10.30 so i'm hoping we'll catch you at some point

Lily311 · 02/11/2013 19:13

I just confessed chasing that I haven't read a book apart from study books since Leo's funeral. Before I read 1 or 2 a week. Inspire me and tell me your fav books, maybe it's time for me to start again. I have a kindle so can get them straight away.

ChasingDaisy · 02/11/2013 19:24

I read a lot of chick lit, Lily. So, Cecilia Ahern, Marian Keyes and Paige Toon are favourites of mine.

Am currently searching online for vintage stuff for my bedroom. Want to replace the handles on my chest of drawers with something vintage and pretty.

PetiteRaleuse · 02/11/2013 19:27

Books? What kind do you like?

We did the zoo on Friday... Though maybe could go again tomorrow afternoon so I can see the sea lion show. I was irrationally pissed off about missing that on Friday. But at 31€ per adult it's not cheap. Will get annual pass before DD1 turns 3 so she can get in for free

If all goes to, ahem, plan, am thinking of going to the Canaries in February. I can't face another winter like last year and an off season break in the sun might help with any bronchio bollocks. Don't want to pay for passports for everyone so would have to be eu, not Morocco or Tunisia. French Caribbean also out as cba with a long flight or time zone issues. I have never had a beach holiday, or even a pool holiday. Have no idea what a trip to the Canaries would entail but anyway. Any ideas?

Thanks for the tip stunt I will have to throw heaps of drops at her closed eyes and hope something goes in.

GTbaby · 02/11/2013 19:36

I'm home. Tomorrow will be my first alone. Mil is here. But I'd find it easier if she wasn't here as she will just criticise everything I do rather then just offer help. Ie if I use a sling she will comment on baby getting used to being carried.
I've basically been crying since I got back.

I just need to get a grip and get on with it really Hmm apologies in advance for my moaning and moodyness

PetiteRaleuse · 02/11/2013 19:38

Flowers gt your mil sounds like a massive pita.

Lily311 · 02/11/2013 19:43

Go to Tenerife, tons to do with kids. We didn't lie next to the pool at all, were out and about, We did lanzarote in nov one year and it was ok but it's not as child friendly as Tenerife. We went at the beg of January and had 25 degrees most days. Also rent a car.

In Tenerife with did dolphin watching, went to mount teide, Loro park, Siam park, etc. we stayed in Puerto de la Cruz rather than in playa de Americas and a car was needed. Can recommend it although it's not cheap in terms of activities.

Rest of Europe is too cold.

Lily311 · 02/11/2013 19:44

gt massive hugs. Poor you. Xxx

Lily311 · 02/11/2013 19:47

pr I still have pic on my Facebook of Tenerife. It's under Tenerife, January 2011.

PurplePidjin · 02/11/2013 19:49

My standard response to the Hmm look when carrying is "He gets cuddles, I get to get on with things" and a big :o GT or ask which she wants to do - cuddle A while playing with H or housework - and you'll do the one she doesn't fancy.

Bucket and spade probably PR Confused hasn't been on holiday ever apart from visiting mates

What's everyone doing about babyproof Christmas decorations? I saw a thing in Lidl magazine about drying slices of citrus fruit then hanging with ribbon, and am considering gingerbread men. At least that way i won't be paranoid about him chewing everything!

PetiteRaleuse · 02/11/2013 19:56

I have only once been on a proper holiday in adulthood, to Canada. Everything else has been involving relatives. Actually Canada was relatives too. I'm not counting the hiking holidays with my xp as they were hell, not holidays. I have never done a pool or beach holiday. I hate the very idea of them. Would never do it in summer as I hate the heat. The other option is the local mountains which would (a) cost as much and (b) likely be dreary weather. We tried to go last year in order to get clean air in their lungs but had to cancel, twice, as there was zero sun just dreary crappy rain. Last winter was an absolute arse.

PetiteRaleuse · 02/11/2013 19:59

I will be putting the xmas tree on a stand in the baby jail. She hardly goes in it now. I have plastic decorations for low down the tree. I don't decorate the rest of the house, just the tree. Last year was actually our first with a tree (bah humbug)

Elizadoesdolittle · 02/11/2013 20:08

lily very impressed with O's speaking. wow.

Re books, at the moment I'm reading the 100 year old man that climbed out of the window. Am enjoying it, it's quite different though and maybe not the best to ease yourself into reading with. I try and read a bit everynight in bed. But a lot of the books I have read lately have been quite morbid. I did read billy and me, very easy going chick lit. You might like it chasing as it's by tommcfly's wife. I was hoping it would have been a bit better though.

And chasing your evening sounds the same as mine apart from the chocolate. Am desperate for some but there's none in the house and it's too dark and miserable to go out.

pr I'd reccomend hiring a villa. If it's well equipped it's like a home from home then. And get a heated pool. Just make sure you eat big meals out and then have lots of cheese, breads, meats salads, bbq's etc to have at the villa so you don't end up having to cook.

GTbaby · 02/11/2013 20:10

She is PR. a pita. Eg I want to crochet H some gloves. If I manage to sit down for half hour with both kids asleep, even if I'm crocheting she will say "well if your not doing anything can you do xyz" and I can't really say no as well we all live here so need to do our bit.

I remember last year having h on my chest while I lay back on bed. She came in and made a comment "you can't lay about with him all day, there's house work to be done".

I'm trying to build an action plan in my head.
6am wake and feed A
7am wake and give H his milk
8 give H weetabix
8.15 feed A while trying to contain H to the room.

9-10 H naps. I get breakfast. Try to express
10 feed A before waking H.

Baby crying

Passmethecrisps · 02/11/2013 20:11

Evening wimmins.

This evening we will be doing the usual for a Saturday which consists of sitting at the dining table eating and drinking wine before going to bed. Not very exciting but very pleasant.

I wouldn't describe myself as girly but I am more girly than others. I wear make up every day (mascara and eyeliner) and I favour dresses nowadays. That is really more down to my figure though as my thighs are fat and dresses cover it. I am pretty slack on the whole beauty thing though. I don't think p is particularly girly really. Because she is such a frantic wee person trousers work better for her and dungarees are even better. I am not a fan of baby pink but quite like strong pinks. Basically, if it is clean then she wears it regardless of colour.

What else was the chat?

Books. I was also a book a week girl pre-p. Recently I picked up my kindle and realised that it had run out of charge even though I literally hadn't turned it on since the last charge. I like crime writing. I am a bit in love with Ian rankin (actually, it's about time I invited myself round to *pumpkin's house for a but of stalking) and I really like Jo Nesbo. I don't like American crime writing I have discovered. I prefer my detectives a bit more flawed than American writers tend to go for.

Get a pass for the zoo pr! We did for the safari park and it is worth every single penny. We went multiple times a week before I went back to work because it is so close and we can get there to go on the swings and see animals faster than I can walk to the big park in town. Otherwise if it rains I would whack waterproofs on everyone and set DD1 a treasure hunt in the garden or down into the village. Must find round stones, leaves, snails (not for eating!) and so on. I am planning on buying p a full puddle suit type thing. What are they called? Like an all in one waterproof. There is no way anymore we could spend a whole day in the house so in the rain we will need to be!

I would chalk that one up as payback pp for the time you sent him out for nuts and wine and he forgot both then went back out and still came back without wine.

ValiumQueen · 02/11/2013 20:16

We have a very small tree that goes up high for when they are tiddly, and next year we will have the big tree in the baby jail. The baby jail will be sold after that. I am looking forward to getting rid of all the baby and toddler bits. My time at this lark is definitely nearly over. Thank fuck.

Come to sunny Scotland PR. You would get a warm welcome, and the hills are lovely in this bit.

Passmethecrisps · 02/11/2013 20:16

Blimey gt that sounds relentless and MIL sounds like a total arse. You must have the patience of a saint because I would get so frustrated. Her comments re sitting around are surely all the more reason that wearing A in a sling makes perfect sense.

chasing date guy is obviously two sandwiches shirt if a picnic to miss out on a date with you. Enjoy telly watching and stuff him.
