Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
FalalalalalalaFiggy · 30/12/2013 08:39

Figgyboy has taken 2 hours to go bed last 2 nights 10.30 both nights. t's stressing us out and ruining the holiday he's also kicking, hitting and being horrid. I have a plan for tonight involving putting him to bed in our room in the dark before moving him into the kids room if that doesn't work we might take him home tomorrow Angry

The weather is savage here today day out to looe or Plymouth out the window must find nearest softplay!!

mopsytop · 30/12/2013 09:41

They are defs in cahoots!

mopsytop · 30/12/2013 12:48

I have the biggest spot ever. Minimopsy keeps pointing at my face and saying 'sore mama'. That's how bad it is. Ugh.

mopsytop · 30/12/2013 13:27

Just read your canapé post aethel. Sorry I was too late to reply. I love canapés. Pre-minimopsy I had a Christmas or NYE party every year with many and varied canapés so I have loads of ideas and failsafes. It sounds like it went really well though! I have to say, sometimes the easiest ones are the biggest hits e.g. mini sausies in mustard and honey, you can't go wrong! Or homemade sausage rolls. I love the sound of the crispy prawns. Must try sometime although I hate deep frying. Hot fat makes me v v v antsy that something bad will happen.

mopsytop · 30/12/2013 13:28

Clearly e with an accent does not work on mumsnet phone app!

NorthernChinchilla · 30/12/2013 15:07

Nope, definitely looked like you were translating from Vulcan there mopsy!

Sorry you're both having a tough time of it jiggle and figgy. January is 'divorce month' for this very reason.... Sounds like the skiing holiday could either be very tough if DH comes, or a bit final if he doesn't jiggle - do you have any preference?

And hope you've found a softplay figgy to save your sanity!!

We're off to Bluewater to be the epitome of boring and look at pans in JL, as it's so bloody horrible. We're got DP's best mate coming today- he was meant to be here at lunchtime, and we made sure we were back for it, but being DP's mate and not mine, we didn't even hear from him til 5 minutes ago and he'll be here around 7pm... Hmm

Aethelfleda · 30/12/2013 15:31

Yep, oi, salmon is the naice festive version. Especially when smoked... Need to go to supermarket as our Christmas supplies pretty exhausted. Except DH has gone to a short work day and can't face dragging the three with me... dD1 is on a "tech ban day" as she was sneaking off to watch minecraft tutorial videos on Youtube after being asked not to watch any more . Had to put foot down as it's the sneaking/lying that's the problem rather than the actual youtube viewing. Sigh. Am normally a laidback mummy but a line was crossed!

OiMissus · 30/12/2013 19:38

When Boi gets hold of my phone he goes straight to the YouTube app. He can often get to History and find Thomas or mr Tumble, but yesterday he must've pressed what's popular as I found him watching something about engineering in German...

HopAlongOnItsOnlyChristmas · 30/12/2013 21:04

Figgyboy and my DS are being twins. Ds is just so giddy and over stimulated and im going to scream if any well meaning relative gives him another biscuit/chocolate/sweet/slice of cake. He's Ben a shit to get to bed and has started hitting/biting/pinching when you try and get him dressed or tell him off. Bad mummy warning: I totally lost my shit on Saturday and shut him in the conservatory for two minutes. We have no heating in there so it's bastard cold. He did not seem phased by the cold but the two minutes of silence did me the world of good.

NorthernChinchilla · 30/12/2013 21:39

Hop, that sounds a remarkably sensible thing to do. I think we've all plonked them in a cot/play pen/room at some point and walked away as opposed to throttling them.

Roll on the nice routine of January....

mopsytop · 30/12/2013 21:44

I plonked minim in her cot last Friday, the day of the terrible tantrums, and sat on the stairs to cry, and she fell asleep!! So defs not alone there Wink

mopsytop · 30/12/2013 21:45

But I agree, lack of routine plus sugar = grumpy, tantrumy, cross, hitting-out toddler. Routine is the thing it seems. And no chocolate!

thekatsatonthematt · 30/12/2013 22:22

Yep, same here.

I lost it and slapped DS earlier this week. On the leg. After he had hit DD in the face with one of his toys.

Cue lots of tears all round. Mostly mine. I cannot wait until all the crap has been eaten and we get back into a routine that does not include sugar at every turn.

hinkyhonk · 30/12/2013 22:32

Dh put f outside on

hinkyhonk · 30/12/2013 22:35

Oops on our patio last week after he threw his lunch on the floor again. It was cold and a bit wet. He didn't seem bothered but it cheered us up a bit seeing his little face peering through the door

Did I say he put himself in time out the other week? He had hit his brother and I said that I would do it if he did it again (not really meaning it) and he did so I said right that is it and off he went. V amusing

NorthernChinchilla · 31/12/2013 08:17

Guest finally arrived at bloody 10pm, having been out on the lash the night before. So a mere ten hours late. So I had to get my own dinner, as the curry he was treating us to would therefore happen at 11pm...and I had to get to bed as I'm in work today.

Think I may put our guest on the naughty step...

Right, on with the smartish suit, and off, joy. See you later ladies, here's to a day of mung beans and water for the LOs!

mopsytop · 31/12/2013 13:13

Crikey, northern, how rude is that?! I'd have been furious ...

mopsytop · 31/12/2013 16:57

Happy New Year all! This is our third new year in the thread! I never thought I'd be on here this long that first day so long ago when figgy joined the thread I started when I realised I was pregnant. Thanks for all the advice, support and reassurance over that time. Hope we all have a good 2914!

Aethelfleda · 31/12/2013 17:01

I'd be tempted to use the line "dinner's in the chinchilla"....

Hope the work went ok! Today has mostly been tidying up and repairing fence damage (again)...,

Aethelfleda · 31/12/2013 17:03
mopsytop · 31/12/2013 17:05

Oops!

Champagne and Chinese dumplings later. Yum! To see us into 2014! not 2914 as previously advertised Blush

Aethelfleda · 31/12/2013 19:14

Ooh yum, dumplings! We are very disorganised recovering from a rare evening out so no big plans. Probably a big pot of tea and some biscuits. Ooh, we're living the high life.....let's hope 2014 brings good health, fun times, less streas and more sleep for all!

QueenofClean · 31/12/2013 19:21

Happy New Year to you all. Let's all have a fab 2014 Grin

Our girls are bathed and in bed so wine and films it is for us.

HopAlongOnItsOnlyChristmas · 31/12/2013 19:42

Happy New Year, y'all! DS went to bed nicely and we had a lovely cuddle while we read 'gufflooooh' We haf a trip to the beach earlier which was beyond coldt and miserable. He was not impressed. After a session at soft play the sun camet up and we had a lovely walk on the shore. I've reached a level of zen like calm about the inlaws and toddler and am planning on spending the evening drinking wine and polishing off a box of orange matchmakers. Diet starts tomorrow after all.

Here's to 2014, the not-terrible-at-all twos!

OComeAllYeFaffhful · 31/12/2013 20:24

Happy new year everyone. Not planning to be awake at midnight but just trying to figure out at what point it will be deemed polite to retire and escape the various inlaws who arrived today and brought a truckload of shit for the DC's for Christmas
