I broke the old thread! Step this way, step this way.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

I'm taking the close my eyes approach. It doesn't work well, when I do open them I still notice that some how she has managed to sit in something while getting it on her toes, inside her top and up the wall. The wall and floor are pretty much taken care of by the dogs. I'm sure if I sat dd on the floor they would also clear her up. The shower curtain I brought and cut up is the best thing ever for the carpet. Have considered cutting head hole and putting over dd. Wink

Dd is sound asleep, hasn't in face been awake for about 1.5 hours, I am wide awake though. Confused. Like sleep isn't precious enough. Tempted to get up and finish the christening invites. Haven't hand made anything in ages and am loving creating again. We'll see!

SunnyL · 13/12/2013 12:58

Thanks Ladies. I've gone and got a cheapie bib with sleeves. If it works I might go get another one or two so I can stick them in the dishwasher.

Of course the next challenge is getting my timing right. She keeps sleeping through lunch. Yesterday it was 2.30 before she woke up so didn't bother with lunch. Today she's been asleep since 12 and showing no sign of stirring just yet.

Do I just wait til she starts nursery and leave the problem up to them?? Bad clever mummy!

MrsBri · 13/12/2013 15:34

That's our problem too, Sunny. Naps seriously get in the way of food. Not sure how I'll resolve it yet!

MadameJ · 14/12/2013 20:43

Well dd is officially 26 weeks old so I think I should let her try some food tomorrow......let the mess commence :-)

pinkbear82 · 15/12/2013 07:57

Can someone let dd know that hourly feeds over night are not the way forward. Pretty please.

MrsBri · 15/12/2013 10:22

That'll be the 6 month growth spurt, pink. :-/ I hope you're not totally exhausted today. Are you having to be out and about watching your DP too?

After a horrendous afternoon / evening with teething troubles, Amy managed to sleep for 3, then 6, then 3 hours. Thank god for ibuprofen. She's perkier today but still no damn teeth. Sigh.

pinkbear82 · 15/12/2013 15:22

Sofa day today Mrsbri - thankfully! Apart from sorting a few things out inside nothing much on, plus it's pouring with rain, even more reason to stay in.

Bloody teeth and growth spurts, just as you get anywhere one or the other comes along and buggers things up.

Sarah2506 · 15/12/2013 18:14

Oh my god. Do not get a bout of sickness bug. It is almost impossible to undertake baby duties when your head is down the loo. I feel absolutely awful! The poor child keeps looking at me confused. Mummy is here but she's ignoring me, therefore I will make daddy's life hell all day! Must get better. Am hitting dry toast and lucozade right now. Nice.

Sarah2506 · 15/12/2013 19:03

Nct friend has just said she's pregnant, due in August. I'm ill so in hope that this excuses my response of 'are you out of your fucking mind'. Can you imagine! Though another girl said that she could count the times she's DTD in the last six months on one hand. And she doesn't even need all the fingers which I think is almost as supportive as my comment. She had an EMCS last time so this is way too soon. Her GP also told her she was mad. And putting her body at risk. It has made me feel very tired!

pinkbear82 · 15/12/2013 19:10

Get better soon Sarah! Can't imagine how hard it is, having a cold and feeling exhausted is bad enough.

RueDeWakening · 15/12/2013 22:20

Get well soon Sarah! (FWIW I can count the times on no hands at all Shock:o)

M has a cold, he's a very unhappy baby at the mo. DS1 has broken up from preschool, DD has (we thought, fortunately it seems not!) broken her finger and isn't finishing school until Friday. So I'm a bit busy to say the least...

We took M to my friend's funeral on Wednesday, so many people said how lovely it was to have him there, and that he helped them with his chuntering and coughing. He was incredibly well behaved all things considered. Glad it's over, but what a massive hole it leaves :(

pinkapples · 16/12/2013 03:28

What the hell happened to my sleeping baby answers on a postcard please

Mrs81 · 16/12/2013 08:10

Good morning :)

Hope you're feeling more human Sarah. And I expect you're only saying out loud what many people were thinking to your nct friend! Maybe they have their reasons/time isn't on their side or something... Not what I'd choose to do mind you!

Glad the funeral went ok Rrreow. Hope you're doing ok Brew Biscuit

We're mid 6month growth spurt here and ds is finally getting the hang of weaning. Has anyone been aware of dropping any feeds yet?

RueDeWakening · 16/12/2013 08:44

M seems to have dropped at least one feed - now has milk at 7am, 11am, 3pm, 5pm & dream feed (ish!). Has solids at breakfast and another meal (varies), if he's awake. The quantity he takes for the dream feed changes too - he stuffed himself full of butternut squash and sweet potato last night for tea, and only had 4oz or so of dream feed as a result Smile

Sarah2506 · 16/12/2013 09:26

I think it's because she hates her job tbh, so thinks she can just go back for a few weeks before taking mat leave again. She told us so early because she was upset having discovered she won't actually get maternity pay as the qualifying period is to be back at work a year. I do have sympathy but you'd think she would have checked this out before!

Sunbeam18 · 16/12/2013 10:36

Maybe it wasn't planned? Apparently its very easy to get pregnant soon after having a baby (eek, strikes fear into my heart).

MrsBri · 16/12/2013 10:47

You do get SMP if you get pregnant while on mat leave, so it must be any enhanced pay she will miss out on. So yes, she should have checked her specific employer's handbook for that, but I can relate to detesting your job / employer.

My employer failed to invite me to the Christmas party, despite the fact that I'm an employee and people on mat leave were included last year. I've yet to rub salt in my own wound to ask if anybody else on mat leave was invited! Shows how popular I am, ha ha! :-/

Sarah2506 · 16/12/2013 11:21

Yeah it was the sixth months of full pay she will miss out on.
I get the hating your job thing but it's quite an extreme thing to do to avoid it.

I was invited to our Xmas do but didn't go. I would hav had to take polly and I'm not sure what she would make of it! As civil servants it's not like it's anything good, and you have to pay your own way of course. Taxpayers apparently not keen on paying for boozy lunches:-)

MrsBri · 16/12/2013 11:25

Oh, I wouldn't have gone either. Trekking to Liverpool would've been an arse ache. I'd have liked to have been invited though!

And ouch on missing out on that pay. Definitely should have checked!

SunnyL · 16/12/2013 11:52

Oh God oh god oh god oh god.

Lily started biting me today when I feed her. I tried my hardest not to react but it flipping hurt. So I took her off, waited a few seconds and tried again. She did it about 8 times before I gave up and tried to feed her with a bottle.

I have to admit I had a little tearful moment (which is very unlike me) at the thought that this might be the end of me breastfeeding her. We've already been dropping boob feeds but if she keeps biting me I'll end up going cold turkey cos it really hurt.

Sarah2506 · 16/12/2013 12:20

Dontmind I saw your post on AIBU about you starting a post about a handbag and being told to buy a bench. Please copy the link. Was crying with laughter at the thought!

rrreow · 16/12/2013 15:20

Sunny Z went through a phase of biting a few weeks ago, it lasted about a week. It's completely stopped now. I couldn't help yelping out in pain a few times, don't think it had any lasting effects (the yelping I mean). I found he often did it if he didn't really want a feed in the first place, or towards the end of a feed.

He can 'self latch' now, so I often let him do it, but when he started biting I started latching him on myself again, by making sure I shoved plenty of boob in his mouth because that makes it harder for him to bite. And if it felt like he'd lost his latch/lost interest I'd take him off the boob quickly.

I found this link quite helpful: kellymom.com/ages/older-infant/biting/

SunnyL · 16/12/2013 20:49

Thanks Rrreow from that link i'd say Lil was distracted. However considering the little madam can be distracted in a completely silent house, with nothing moving I'd say it's going to be difficult to reduce distractions!

pinkapples · 17/12/2013 05:30

Well for the third night in a row ms Theiah thinks it is acceptable to wake us up all night!! I am so tired it is shocking! She was 6 months on Friday and is quite like my sleeping baby back

Mrs81 · 17/12/2013 07:59

Oh Pinkapples, poor you. I hope you get some better nights soon.

I've decided it's a design fault for growth spurts and teething to coincide. We suddenly have 2 teeth so the link to biting babies was v well timed...thank you!
