Pass. Word.

Two sets of tears you've had offne tonight.

ChasingDaisy · 20/10/2013 22:27

Wee P is a lucky girl Smile

TheDetective · 20/10/2013 22:28

What a fuckhead chasing. I so get it. I would be raging too. I'd feel hideous. That's a normal reaction - you are allowed to feel the way you do.

Let it in, then let it go when you realise that she is going to end up with a man who will abuse her in the end.

Fuck him.

TheDetective · 20/10/2013 22:30

You will have new memories with O.

I honestly have so few memories of DS1 when he was a baby. I don't know if that is just me though.

And I find it hard that I might not remember much of this time - as it seems all so consuming. Right now it seems impossible to think that we will forget all this stuff that is our lives right now.

But time will fade our memories.

ValiumQueen · 20/10/2013 22:35

Well put Pass x

Detective I am amazed at your food bills.

Elizadoesdolittle · 20/10/2013 22:40

I still have to heavily puree everything for E. She really isn't good with lumps. It's so strange and it really just shows how each child is different as I never mushed anything for DD1. I have an appointment with the speech and language thearpist on Wednesday who is going to watch E eat finger foods to see why she coughs/sicks up lumps. I suspect though that she just isn't ready for it. I doubt I'll still be mushing her food when she's at school so at the moment I'm just going with it even though I bloody hate it. I find batch cooking and pureeing so dull. Was so much easier with DD1.

Well I managed to drag both girls round bluewater for 3 1/2 hours today which I count as a success. Especially as DD1 was out till 10pm with me last night. Thought she might be tired and grumpy. We went to a race night at the PIL's church which involved betting on wooden horses pulled on a string. Sounds bizarre but was a fun night. And I went to my first baby shower yesterday afternoon. Still think they are unneccessary (the present giving bit anyway, I'll give mine once baby is born) but was a fun afternoon. Got to eat lots of cake and play silly games. One of them being identify the main ingrediants in baby food. They were rank. Cold and bland food, yuck.

izzybizzybuzzybees · 20/10/2013 22:52

I've caught op on this thread but no idea what I missed on the last one.

apple im sorry to read your news. I was told I'd miscarried with James and sent away to think over how I'd like to proceed. They checked my levels and they were doing odd things so I was rescanned exactly a week later and baby was hiding behind a huge clot. I don't want to give you false hope but maybe waiting a week for rescan wouldn't be a bad idea? I had a huge bleed, a few times and James was fine. However I've been told the clot indicates it was likely twins. Can you imagine two of my non sleeping allergy filled son!

vq sorry J is Ill :-(

pass hope leg is mending....those pics were yeuch!

mm enjoy the road trip

pr hope birthday went well

stunt fingers crossed with the house!

det meals sound good. We are very restricted with allergies too and J is tricky as he isn't great unless it's mush. I'm going to try toast this week as he seems to be managing rice cakes well. I don't understand why your food bill is so high. I did slimming world and didn't find it that expensive? Can we help you lower it somehow?

J has consultant tomorrow afternoon. Possibly more allergy tests but who knows. We eventually had dietitian last week after waiting since June. Useless waste of time!

Em, think that's all.

Oh one more thing. I was nominated for the mumsnet secret Santa thing, just wanted to say if it was anyone here then thank you so much. I can't think why I'd be nominated but I had a big grin reading it :-)

Pre op appt is through for nov 5th. I'm shitting it now!

TheDetective · 20/10/2013 23:10

Neither can I VQ. Neither can I Confused.

They were around £100-110 a week pre-diet. And pre-O.

Now they are hovering around £130-150 a week.

Today I spent £80 in Aldi, and £55 in Asda. We have to go back to both tomorrow as we couldn't get any chicken breast fillets in Aldi - and we need 2 of the big boxes, plus a couple of things in Asda, so it will bring it up to £150 for the week.

This includes packed lunches for DS1. O's food, wipes and nappies. And all household cleaning products.

Meals this week are roast dinner, diet pepsi chicken with potato wedges, chicken wrapped in bacon with cheese and roast veg, cheesy arrabiata pasta bake and salad, cheesy 'chips' with veggie sausage and beans, mash veggie sausage carrots sugar snap peas and gravy, spag bol.

All of it is home made apart from the veggie sausages.

On top of that we go through 20 bananas Blush and a load of other fruit. Lean meats for sandwiches or snacks, salad stuff for lunches, bread, milk, eggs (30 a week), cereal, cereal bars, yoghurts, noodles, (I am on night shifts so need things to take with me to snack on).

We also get 10 packets of crisps, a pack of kit kats, a pack of choc bars from Aldi (mine!) and a box of jaffa cakes.

I guess we eat a lot between us Hmm.

TheDetective · 20/10/2013 23:12

And now you see why O can't have the majority of our meals! Some are made with strange ingredients which would be a no go to give a baby.

Out of that O has had some of the roast dinner, and he can have the chicken in bacon - except I doubt he would like it much, so will do chicken with something else. The mash and veg with his own sausages he could have.

Everything else is either tomato based, or has quorn (soya) based, or cheese.

Brockle · 20/10/2013 23:26

lurking but just wanted to add lentil soup detective goes down a treat as does pesto pasta with veg. mind you you know about my lentil obsession Grin Grin. I buy ready made pesto and Y loves it. tortellini is a hit although the fillings are usually tomato or cheeses based.

you could try plain pasta, olives, smoked salmon and brocolli with a little olive oil. add yoghurt or cheese sauce when you start dairy again.

when Y has had enough to eat he puts out his hands and says "aw dun" which is ridiculously cute if frustrating as he then clamps his jaws down and will eat no more. I get a kind of yeah but think he's just copying me. Smile Smile

back to lurking again.....

izzybizzybuzzybees · 20/10/2013 23:31

It is tricky with allergies I guess. We have to avoid milk, eggs , nuts, peas , beans, lentils, chickpeas, butter beans etc! All our meals are home cooked too. Things like stew, steak pie, roast chicken, gammon joints, Spag Bol, mince and tattles, meatballs all of which James can have but just blended with a stick blender. I make soups too. But I honestly can't believe your food bill. We simply couldn't afford to spend £600 a month. We buy nappies and wipes in bulk and on offer. Cleaning products on offers too as is all toiletries etc. I thought my shop for a week was dear an it's around £65 on a bad week. Have you thought about shopping online and getting it delivered? If I go into store I can spend over £100 but by doing online I can see all the deal etc and order things but price so can see what is more economical. I guess if you can afford it and are happy with it then it's not a problem?

izzybizzybuzzybees · 20/10/2013 23:31

Oh also in health food shop I got a cheese sauce mix and egg free mayo. Could work to make creamy pasta sauces for O?

TheDetective · 20/10/2013 23:47

Never thought about pesto as none of us like it! However it would keep in the fridge once opened wouldn't it?

Lentil soup - yes O liked that!

He is funny though as sometimes he refuses things he has liked before - I don't know why!

O clamps his mouth when finished and shakes his head. However if you produce pudding, mouth suddenly unclamps... Funny that! It doesn't matter if it is a 'pudding' type thing or not, I think he just likes a different taste after a bit!!

I can't really afford it izzy. Last week we did really well on £100 but we needed no cleaning products at all or wipes or nappies. So that was a big help.

It's averaging £35 per person a week most weeks.

If I wasn't doing SW it would be a lot cheaper, I know that much as I would be eating full fat things, and not buying some of the more expensive diet type things. There would be more eating together possible too.

Everyone at my SW group agreed it is much more expensive if you are doing it 'properly' :( Waaaah!

GTbaby · 20/10/2013 23:48

Feel like all I've done since 6.30 is feed. Because that is all I've done Sad

My right boob/nipple hurts. Using the jelonet helped a lil. But it's starting to hurt again. It's like my left side is so comfortable. Bearly feel anything. But right side is awful.

my boob is aching. The right side of the right boob.

Don't think it's thrush just on one side. No lumps temp no mastitis tried loads of lansol nipple Shields. Anything else?

YellowWellies · 20/10/2013 23:50

Det I guess if you're eating expensive cuts of meat that'll be a big part of it - could you do chicken thighs (skinless) or turkey rather than breasts for any of those meals? Our bill is never more than £70 a week and that includes Wine Blush

What on earth is diet Pepsi chicken Grin?

YellowWellies · 20/10/2013 23:52

GT growth spurt? Now you know why we dreaded them! Is his latch OK?

TheDetective · 20/10/2013 23:58

I have a bit of an issue with meat Blush. I didn't eat it from 9-23. I will eat chicken breast, ham on the bone and bacon with the fat removed.

That's it.

I have tried chicken thighs, legs, wings. Not so keen although I did like deep fried chicken wings Blush but not when we did them at home! I have tried turkey, gammon and pork. Didn't like them (taste and texture).

I'm not a meat snob honest! I stopped eating it because I didn't like it and then when I decided it was causing issues for my family when I didn't eat it I tried it again. It took 3 years before I eat chicken in public. Don't ask!!

TheDetective · 21/10/2013 00:00

Diet Pepsi chicken is actually very nice! It's using diet Pepsi and passata to make a sauce that when simmered down becomes like a sticky BBQ sauce! Chicken and veg done in the sauce with some 5 spice and garlic. Lush! Best diet food I've had! Tastes naughty!

YellowWellies · 21/10/2013 00:11

Sounds awesome! Smile

I think the food bill might reflect your food ishoos more than O or SW restrictions?

TheDetective · 21/10/2013 01:31

Not really, we'll I don't think so? When I didn't eat meat it didn't make it any cheaper. £100 a week was what I have spent roughly for the last 8 years once DS1 was eating bigger meals. As prices went up, we got less for our money but I would say my food bill hasn't changed until we started in SW. Well, no, I know it did as obvs can see it when I check my bank. Since April it rose massively which coincided with both weaning O and doing SW! I eat the same cuts of meat pre-SW too. So fuck knows.

Bryzoan · 21/10/2013 02:31

Gt - the localised pain could still be a blocked duct - adjust where you can't feel it. Make sure nothing is putting pressure on your boob while you are feeding - and maybe try changing positions. A rugby ball hold on the right might just help.

Bryzoan · 21/10/2013 02:52

Just where you can't feel it. Not adjust. Stupid phone.

ValiumQueen · 21/10/2013 04:48

Detective do you buy branded stuff? I shudder if we go over £50 a week and that is with five of us. I buy value nappies from Tesco - they are excellent, and I get value pull- ups too. Wipes when on offer. Toilet rolls from Iceland I think. In bulk. They are better than Andrex.

Chicken breasts and quorn stuff and diet foods and lean on the bone cold meats cost a fortune.

Did you fancy putting your shopping list on FB?

J will be off nursery again. Been up for hours with solid screaming. I am shattered. He has been ill this time for 17 days and has been up every night bar one.

Can work penalise me for being off to look after a sick child? I know I may need to resort to unpaid leave when my A/L is used up. But they cannot sack me can they?

MadameGazelleIsMyMum · 21/10/2013 05:43

It is expensive doing SW properly although we can't afford weekly shops that expensive.

Meal chats are interesting. We have things like sugar free jelly, low fat custard, yoghurt and rice pudding and I give both DC those versions. Should I not?

chasing you have had some wise words from the, uh, wise pass. You're doing fabulously.

izzy shame the dietician was no good. Hope consultant apt goes well.

fatina how was the rest of your Sunday?

I have got a reasonably shit week ahead of me, to be followed by the kind of week that, the last time it occurred, was the immediate trigger for S's conception and the promise of maternity leave. By the time I had rationally thought things through and decided that was a bit of a hasty reaction, it was too late!

Lily311 · 21/10/2013 06:46

I am amazed at your food bill det. My food bill is that for a month and everything is more expensive in Hungary. Although I have no nappy and wipe bills as we use reusable.

O's diet is pants at the moment, she has had 3 proper meals since we arrived.she just doesn't eat purees, pouches, processed, she likes what I cook. I am now ready to go home as she is. We are flying on Wednesday morning.

chasing I feel very lonely being here! wherever I look I can see how our lives should have been had Leo not die. I actually can't believe it's been 17 months already. But today is a better day, I'm seeing more friends, do some more shopping. Want to get a Xmas decoration for O but haven't seen anything I like so far.
