Katz - that would be a big change in job, no? I take it back what I say about flexibility... I am good friends with one of the FLS research business manager, I can put you in tough if you like. It seems like stresful work... You might end up with people like me asking you to do thing the whole day long...

meant to say that we have chalked up another visit to the dermologist about DD2's skin condition, which has worsened, the Dr we saw was quite happy and wanted to see us again in 3 months but shortly after arriving home another Dr called and she wants us to see the consultant sooner, so now in limbo and a bit concerned but not sure, for anyone whos interested leaflet here on it. on the positive we have been armed with how to cope with her rash and having the MMR so she will be jabbed on our return from holiday

Lua - i think i have come to the decision to stay put! even though i only have until 31st of Oct on my current grant! unless something with mega money comes up! i was going to apply for a lectureship in manchester but having been rejected here in Sheffield for one the week before i decided not too, wasn't quite ready to be rejected again!

Thanks for the birthday wishes. We went for a quiet meal out, and I even managed to eat some of it, but the restaurant were really nice and put what I couldn't eat in a box for me to take home! And I managed to eat breakfast yesterday before 9am, so I think I'm heading out of the worst of it! Thank goodness!
Teabelly - it's funny you should say that, I'd felt that, when I feel movements, I might feel more excited because right now apart from the sickness I just don't feel as if it's real and spend so long running round after ds that I just forget I am pg most of the time! I told someone yesterday and she had exactly the same age gap between her kids and said it was the perfect age gap, so that made me feel good.
It's still too ruddy hot though!!

thanks giddy ,

i started the course before i moved and it started as 2 hours /1 night a week 5 mins from where i lived

i moved and course was put on hold as the room we used flooded . a few weeks ago i got a letter from my local college asking me to go in and arrange to finish course and do exam . it was hard work doing online skills checks but i managed and went last monday to college to do exam.

it was all free and ran through learn direct . english one is free too and would highly recommend to anyone who wishes to start using their brains after having children .

heat is horrible. sky has gone black again and for the last 3 nights we have had thunder storms and heavy rain. nice in day though

Evening ladies

DH is out and the kids are asleep, I have a nice chilled Pimms and now I can play on the PC all night! and DH won't know so can't complain, he he he

Giddy - we've got a 'play date' tomorrow, never had one before as it's usually our friends we meet up with (and their lo's) but this is someone from the Nursery and DS is soooooo excited. The boys will cycle abit at a local beauty spot, and then we're set to have a picnic, but I'm abit nervous as the dad's a martial arts trainer in the Met, and mum's someone high up in a model agency, and they both look fab...not sure what we'll have to say to them...'hello I'm Tea and I work in your son's nursery and this is Mr Tea, he sells safety flooring' not quite the same eh!

Muma - Well done on the exam I'm not sure I could start studying again, so good for you!

EYM - Good luck to your sis for Sunday, hope it all goes well

Right, I'm off to take advantage of DH's absence and trawl through ebay looking for anything I absolutely must have!

2Happy · 29/07/2006 15:11

Afternoon, hope everyone is having a good weekend. No sign of any rain here yet, but it is definitely cooler than it has been, thank goodness. So, of course, dh has asked friends over for a barbecue!
EYM - I hope tomorrow is good, and any rain has passed over by then!
Muma - bleurgh, exams! Well done on your result [clever clogs emoticon!]. Also glad the MMR went ok, I presume ds will be called soon, but there again, he didn't get his 8mo check until he was a year old, so I won't hold my breath, lol!
Tea - Pimms, mmmm! Oh, well, next summer I can tuck in!
Giddy - know what you mean, We've got a wedding next weeknd which will be our 5th this year, and another invite landed for october this week. Why do childless couples always want you to leave your kids behind when they get married, so you have to sort out a babysitter or miss the wedding because you're bfing (handy excuse to get out of some of them I must admit )
Right, blethered far too long! Have a good weekend, all!

sfxmum · 30/07/2006 11:20

hello all
still too hot last night and i feel very tired.
very quiet weekend here, had friends over yesterday afternoon, but not the sort one has to make much of an effort for, in fact they just entertained dd for the duration, they are very welcome back

tea - i dread the day playdates start, but really if anyone thinks they are better than i on account of their job, they are not worth the bother, usually people are nice anyway, hope it goes well.

eym - best wishes to your sister, hope you had a nice day.

dd has discovered the slots on dvd/video player
she was given a remote control car by said friends and makes us drive it around while she giggles wildly and throws things at it, not quite sure what to make of this reaction. bonus for me i never has had this kind of car to play with when i was a child

hope you all well

tribpot · 31/07/2006 08:32

tea - how did you get on? When I lived in Edinburgh, a good friend of mine was part of the young/trendy/"media" set there and so every time I went to her house or out to a bar with them I was surrounded by glamorous arty types, it was a nightmare. One day I was round at her house with some media friends and they were talking about where they wanted to hold their wedding. My (normal) friends and I made some suggestions of nice buildings in Edinburgh to be greeted with the remark "they're nice but they're just not achingly modern". We couldn't look at each other the rest of the time we were there for fear of bursting out laughing. Bless them, they were lovely people but clearly mad.

Anyway, hope the play date parents didn't say anything was achingly modern at least!

Happy birthday to my oldest brother, he is 40 today! But all alone in Shanghai (well, apart from the other people who live there, obviously) as his family aren't moving over for a few more weeks.

eastyorksmum · 31/07/2006 10:44

Morning mums hugsssss

My Sisters wedding was perfect, we had such a chilled day, and our William was such a good boy, it was so lovely spending the time with my family, my siter looked so beautiful and my hubby was the photographer he took 160 pics lol, bless him ive put some pics on the june website photo bucket thingy lol.

Giddy darl im fine now, i got some cough medecine and the cold cleared up, yes it would be lovely if you lived nearer me.

Ive got my MRI scan on wed would be our james birthday grrrrrrr im a bit apprehensive about it, hubby took day of work to go with me, maybe that will tell us why i had two grand mals im not betting on it, I do feel a lot better now though, just more relaxed.

anyway chat later xxxxxxxxx love yorkie

teabelly · 01/08/2006 13:31

Afternoon ladies

EYM - so glad wedding went ok - I bet your little man looked adorable - will be off to lok at pics once I've typed this Good luck for scan on wed, lets hope it proves helpful

Trib - he he he well playdate was fab, and the parents were really really nice, very easy going and not at all achingly modern - infact possibly abit too old fashioned if anything. No snobbery at all about jobs (didn't think there would be as such, but it just makes you feel insecure sometimes iykwim )

Hope your brother wasn't too lonely for his birthday...which reminds me I should start thinking about what to do for my 40th, just over two and a bit years away - but I want to do something BIG and SPARKLY so had better start planning and saving now!

Well we're very pleased the nights have cooled - much more bearable...if only we could ditch the rain and have the sunny days back but keep the cool nights...ho hum never happy eh!

Right had best go - am supposed to be doing month end, but want to sneak a peak at EYM's pics...catch you all later, x

2Happy · 01/08/2006 15:01

So, ds can say mummy and daddy and a couple of other things, but what would you guess his next words would be? Want? Hungry? Tired? Ta? Any of those?? No. No my ds chooses "car keys" to be his next words (to reflect the fact that they are his current favourite things to play with). If they're in your pocket and jangle slightly he'll rush over, stick his hand out and demand "caa keeee!". Sigh.

sfxmum · 01/08/2006 22:06

eym - lovely pics, glad you all had a nice day.

not much sleep here, work weird am very tired night night

HELP !!!!!!

dd3 is decided she hates to go to bed and screams constantly for around an hour when we try to put her down .

she was so good before 7.30 bath bottle bed and went straight to sleep no fuss but over the last 4 days she has been having the biggest freak out when we try to put her down .

i have tried to kepp percievering (sp?) so that she doesnt make a habit of it but it is getting very hard to see her so upset .

i have tried to keep putting her down and walking out over and over but it is so upsetting for both of us .

i know all the usual helpful tips but its not working for my child ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
