Well surprisingly enough he didn't eat a lot of lunch, but then he was quite happy to tuck into granny's roast beef dinner at night. I'm going to be one of those mothers that has to buy half a supermarket at every shop, aren't I?! (Actually dh is now wittering about keeping pigs, a bit like Gordon Ramsay. Not sure I could cope with cooking something like that, but there again it may be the only way to keep the kids fed, lol!)

Lua · 27/08/2006 21:01

Hi All!
Hope everybody is enjoyoing their holidays. We went to the zoo today and the kids had a really good time.
I wish I had some reins with me. Ds is impossible! DD was so easy to take along, and was definetely a scared cat! Ds... well... i suspect will give me a whole head of grey soon!

DS also regularly tucks in 3 breakfasts (one with DH, one with me and mine, and a toast when he gets to nursery!)! Well, actually 4 if I count the bfing before getting out of bed! and no, he is lighter than he sould for his height... Go figure! He is incredibly active so must burn it all up...

We are starting a savings account to feed him in his teens!

sfxmum · 28/08/2006 09:13

hi all
i am sitting here trying to think what to do on bank holiday which involves minimum effort

good day all

sfxmum · 29/08/2006 20:00

note to self 'must stop killing threads'

lummox · 29/08/2006 20:04

we were all just waiting to find out what you decided to do with the bank holiday

sfxmum · 29/08/2006 20:18

yes well for my bank holiday i mostly filmed dd walking and sent the movies to relatives
there suspense over, very poopoo weather it was too

now just 2 weeks till i become a sahm

2Happy · 29/08/2006 22:45

ds has his MMr tomorrow
(that's if he ever falls asleep tonight; my parents babysat tonight so dh and I could get out for a meal. Got back to theirs at 9.30 to find ds still up . He was running around totally hyperactive because he was so overtired, and he didn't even fall asleep on the journey home, just blew raspberries. I don't think we'll be going for another meal anytime soon!)

Lua - glad mine isn't the only one with hollow legs!
sfx - have you got plans for 2 weeks' time with what you're going to do with dd?

Lua · 30/08/2006 09:29

2 happy - don't feel bad for your DS, it you are doing what you think is best!
by the way, this morning my DD (who is almost 4), was complaining she hasn't had an injection for aaaages! Threatning to throw a tantrum about it ! I offered to have one this week (she is due for her second MMR), and she was all happy again! Go figure!

bubbaloo · 30/08/2006 18:09

2Happy-Hope the mmr went ok.Ds had his a couple of months ago and "touch wood" has been fine.
He has also been walking now for the past week or so,which is great, but so funny to watch.
I have my booking in appointment with the midwife on Friday and can't quite believe I'm already in maternity clothes at only six weeks-I look huge.
Hope everyone else is keeping well.x

2Happy · 30/08/2006 18:45

Sorry, Lua, but had to lol about your dd there! Fantastic!! ds didn't appreciate the needle but seems ok for now [fingers crossed emoticon!]
Bubbs - hope you're keeping well!
Has anyone heard from muma - she sounded so down last time she posted.

sfxmum · 30/08/2006 21:25

hello all

had another chat with dh about MMR (he is not too keen) they also give the new prevenar at the same time, we have had reminders but not been pushy, we just want to wait a little longer.

dd favourite phrase 'was da' meaning whats that constant question pointing at people objects and animals. makes a change from the usual command of 'read it' while forcefully handing us a book.

2happy - not too worried about what to do,have enrolled for uni entry level course, besides dh will still mostly be working from home. am looking forward to the change of pace and taking dd to music and swimming and all that

glad to see pregnancies are going along well, we decised to wait a couple more months before trying to conceive, i have been to stressed and none too healthy lately.

hope all of you ok, and yes muma let us know how you getting on, things did sound rough last time you posted
take care

sfxmum · 30/08/2006 21:28

proof read proof read use pronouns

2Happy · 31/08/2006 01:26

Sfx -it's 01:26 and ds is still awake. Maybe not having the mmr isn't such a bad idea after all...........

tribpot · 31/08/2006 15:33

Unfortunately not having the MMR is no guarantee of happiness either (ds still hasn't been summoned for his). Last night we had another round of 'wake up at 1:30 and refuse to go to sleep for ages'. I eventually gave him a bottle, he didn't actually seem hungry at all and less-than-keen to give it a go, but once he did, he nodded off again. I was too terrified to move from the chair in case he woke up so was sitting there til about 3:30, what joy.

Then at 5:30 we started our favourite game, crying in our sleep for no discernible reason, could be wind, could be cold, but won't be winded or made less cold ... sigh.

The only positive aspect about co-sleeping with ds is that he finds my glasses for me in the morning! This is my cue to take him upstairs to wake dada up as well.

And even more hilariously, I only didn't wake dh to have a go with ds in the middle of the night (on the grounds he can sleep in the morning and I have to work) was because he was doing a sleep study. What fun when we got to the hospital and found the effing thing hadn't recorded anything for last night anyway!

Anyway, one piece of good news, got an email today from the head of the team I'm working for at the mo, to my boss, thanking him for letting me carry on with the work and telling him I had been a real asset to the team. Naturally my first reaction was to think I was getting sacked

tribpot · 31/08/2006 15:36

Btw, re: books, what are the little ones' favourites just now? Ds is inordinately fond of The Smartest Giant In Town (the word 'giraffe' is enough to send him scurrying off to find it for me to read for the 867th time) with The Gruffalo a close second. I can't read either story properly as they're too long for him to cope with, so have the abbreviated made-up-by-trib versions down pat instead.

sfxmum · 31/08/2006 22:12

oh the books
the gruffalo and the gruffalo's child;
the very hungry caterpiller esp. when we make big arms for the beauuutiful butterfly;
peepo and any other allan ahlberg book, love 'the cops and the robbers' -
these are the cops of london town
hardworking brave and true,
they drink their tea
stay up till three
and take good care of you
(they also beat the daylights out of jack)

current favourite 'where the wild things are'
there is a bit in the middle for the wild rumpus, lots of wild shrieks and stomping around

we usually go to the library too, the girl likes books, that one did not fall far from the tree

trib - well done its nice to get praise, very hard to come by t too.

to all who had disrupted nights, well dd woke up screaming last night too at 1 and seemed very distressed took ages to calm down, no idea why

hope no repeat performance for any of us
night night

sfxmum · 31/08/2006 22:14

13 days till stay at home mumdom, housewifey thingy

tribpot · 01/09/2006 06:21

Domestic incarceration survivorhood here you come sfx!

lummox · 01/09/2006 13:15

Hi all. Sorry to hear about the sleep problems. We had a bad patch a few weeks ago mut it seems to have settled again, so I've decided it must have been teeth (not that ds has any new ones).

ds also seems finally to have worked out that walking is a form of locomotion as well as just a party trick. walking fifty yards outside takes about half and hour, but seeing the giddy intoxication of freedom from the buggy on his little face makes it all seem worthwhile.

we've got a long car journey coming up which I'm dreading. ds is not good in the car! i've started a thread in the products section (thanks for your posts on it 2happy!) in case anyone else has any ideas.

2happy - hope your ds is feeling a bit better.

sfx - i feel like i'm mostly a sahm even though i work part time, and i love it. i think if i was doing a course that was satisfying at the same time it would be perfect. i also have dh working from home most of the time and it feels as if we are permanently sort of on holiday.....until January when the new baby comes, obviously, when this even keel that i have just succeeded in balancing on is no doubt going to tip over.

20 week scan on Tuesday - half way through - aaarrgh.

sfxmum · 01/09/2006 20:18

lummox- do you have to be abroad to feel like a hiliday or would good old kew village do? dh has been offered a job which he will look into next week, which will probably mean less time at home.
saw your thread and read with interest, we are thinking of a break by the sea sometime soon, love stormy seas lovely. mine is not used to the car, as we dont have one, she hated her car seat at christmas!

could you kind junies help a hapless foreigner please - dd has been asking the names of things and she just got to girl bits - well what to call it in english? guess the V word is too teen really.
saw a thread on this recently but thought the suggestions too silly you are all a lot more sensible.

also should i start a subscription of 'good housekeeping'?

sfxmum · 01/09/2006 20:20

holiday

sfxmum · 01/09/2006 20:25

oh yes and the 20wk scan! fantastic hope it all goes well

one of my pregnant colleagues had an almighty fright last week. she is 16wks and started bleeding a lot it turned out she had a growth in the cervix, as she previously had pre cancer cells which required treatment she was petrified. biopsy done and she got the results today - all clear just a begnin cyst. mighty relief all around we all a drink for her and she finally got some sleep

teabelly · 01/09/2006 21:02

Evening ladies

Been lucky enough to grab a long weekend away sans kiddies, and haven't really caught up with myself, the lo's or this thread since

Trib will scream for you re the machine not recording anything...aaarrrrrgggghhhhh - there any better? Hope you'll have a better weekend. Had a chuckle about ds finding your glasses - dh got some of those memory frames as ds and now dd are rather fond of retrieving glasses - but apparently my kids can break them too

Lummox - so are you going to find out the sex of this one? can't remember if you said yes at the zoo Good luck anyway. Bless your ds being so happy to be free of the buggy - my dd is the same - release her straps for one second and zooooom she's off which reminds me whoever said about the reins??? they're a good thing!!! and a very practical to just pick them off the ground if legs that want to run before they can walk look like tripping up

SFX, hmmmn girlie bits, well in our house we go with the hungarian nunu (not to be confused with noonoo the vaccum cleaner in teletubbies!

2happy - hope ds is feeling more like himself now after his jab and you got a better nights sleep last night.

Nappy rash and thrush all completely gone now...now it's just the cold and hacking cough stopping her sleeping through kids eh, who'd have them?

Lua · 01/09/2006 21:03

sfx - one of the benefits of being bilingual is that you can use a word that no understand, but is not silly made-up.... use the portuguese word!

Lummox - good luck with the scan! re you going to find out the sex? Are you hoping for one thing or another? and yes, of course it doesn't matter as long as it is healthy.... but still....

Lua · 01/09/2006 21:05

tea - snap!
and hello! where did you go sans kids? very {envy]....
