Engels I had low iron second time, if you can get it buy some Floradix it's the best thing ever. I couldn't believe how different I felt once I started taking it.

Re birthday E is desperate for a trampoline as two of his friends have one and he loves bouncing. Not sure if we can fit one in the garden but we will have to see... Other than that I'm probably going to get some duplo and a few other small bits he has so many things and doesn't play with half of them I need to start a toy rotation I think.

strawberrypenguin · 08/09/2014 10:59

We're in a little place called Hopton on the edge of the Peak District tallulah it's beautiful Smile W is doing really well in the proper bed, he's not fallen out and hasn't got out either (although I'm not sure if he's worked out that he can yet!)

For his birthday I've got him a few little bits (octonauts bath toy, new playdoh, couple of books) but his 'main' present is a trip to a local theatre the week before his birthday to see the Octonauts live show Grin (he's more than a little octonauts obsessed at the moment!)

CallingAllEngels · 08/09/2014 11:59

Justwaiting on call back from mw re bloods. Had to take floradix last time, but only because they told me...actually I felt fine.

I think it may also have been a bit of the back to work/funeral stress as well. Hoping it'll be better this week (at home today with m). Certainly feel better today.

Can I share a numpty moment? Took M to gp this morning because he's had a temp for a week and chesty cough for 2 and the last 3 days he's said he has tummy pain.

Well, before we went I sat him on the potty. He didn't do anything but there was something at the bottom of the potty that looked like melted fat/lo ard that had set. I started to get really worried, then realised that he'd had a paracetamol suppository this morning and it was the waxy coating leaking out. Phew! Arse leaking lard would have taken some explaining at the doctor's!

KillashandraRee · 08/09/2014 14:11

Grin Engels.

Strawberry sounds lovely and glorious weather to be in the Lake District. Octonauts stuff is a great idea as E loves it! Am off to amazon to look now.

Is it wrong how much I'm looking forward to E having two days at preschool this week? Summer hols have been looonng.

CallingAllEngels · 08/09/2014 14:24

Not at all killa We have a 50 week contract so the only weeks he doesn't go are my Christmas holiday. I couldn't live without those 2 days a week!

KillashandraRee · 09/09/2014 05:44

Tally you're right, I can't believe it's nearly a year and we're only half way through the thread. We're rubbish! (I've been thinking about all the missing people prompted by thread on other MN antenatal groups and reading Cupoftea's news)

Who is still on this thread and who are we missing?

CallingAllEngels · 09/09/2014 06:13

Roll call!

CallingAllEngels . Present!

ipswichwitch · 09/09/2014 06:20

I'm still here!
Thread keeps dropping off the "threads I'm on" bit, even when there's been a new post.

N's sleep is still awful but we had a letter from the sleep clinic saying this tends to happen even after the sleep apnoea is resolved, and they don't think they can help so ask the HV for advice Confused I seriously doubt she can tell us anything we haven't tried already.

I've been back to work for 3 weeks now. It's all really strange, not least because there have been so many changes (equipment, protocol, etc) so I feel like a fish out of water.

D has settled brilliantly into nursery. He's such a happy little boy, just smiles all day long! I'm enjoying a lovely post-feed cuddle before the alarm goes off :)

KillashandraRee · 09/09/2014 07:51

Ipswitch you must be permanently exhausted BrewThanks

Great news that D has settled into nursery.

Anyone else present?

strawberrypenguin · 09/09/2014 07:58

I'm here!

Gosh ips poor N and you! If a sleep clinic think they can't help what do they expect a (useless in my opinion) HV to do! Glad D started nursery well.

KillashandraRee · 09/09/2014 08:06

Strawberry are you still on holiday Envy

Shall we see if we can finish this thread before October? Have posted link on Facebook page to encourage people back.

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 09/09/2014 10:18

I'm here!!

What was cups news? I always wondered how they were getting on

OP posts:
Trudyla · 09/09/2014 10:28

I'm here.

Cup's news is that she had a baby boy and after her husband had moved out they are giving it another go now. I'm so happy about that. They must have had such a hard time!

My news is that after ten years of living over't brush (as my now MIL used to call it :) ) we got married last weekend. Very low key, kids looked gorgeous, little garden party after even smaller ceremony. Just how we wanted it. Will post some pics in FB later.

F. is still in the deepest terrible twos. I'm at my wits' end and just waiting for the tantrum phase to be over one day. It's exhausting. It's a good job he's so cute.

After DD was complaining about belly aches the other day, F wanted some attention too, so he said: "I've got bad tummy aches in my back Mama". Brilliant.

KillashandraRee · 09/09/2014 10:40

Congratulations Trudyla that's lovely news. (Never heard that phrase before Smile)

ipswichwitch · 09/09/2014 13:11

Aw congrats Trudyla, il bet you had a fab day - our wedding was lovely and low key too and I loved it.

The other day DH and N went to the fruit n veg shop, and along with the list of things they went for, they came in with a solitary carrot. Hen I aske why they got that, DH told me that N ran straight over to them, picked one up and stuck it on the end of his nose announcing he was Olaf from Frozen :) apparently he walked all the way to the car like that, and he's been playing with it for the last 3 days!! Grin
Probably best hide it before the HV comes tomorrow or she'll think I'm depriving him of real toys of something!

Back to mainlining coffee....

strawberrypenguin · 09/09/2014 17:17

Yep we're away until Saturday killa just back in from a day out at Chatsworth House, quick trip round the house (very nice) an then spent most of the day in their huge and gorgeous gardens and brilliant farm.

Congrats trudy Grin

CallingAllEngels · 09/09/2014 18:55

Congrats trudy

Ha ha ips - when they're cute, they're very cute!

anyone have a link to cup's thread(s)? I had posted on her thread announcing baby to say congrats a few weeks ago but didn't know she and her dh were back together.

anyone else got a change in eating habits? M has always been an awesome eater but the last month we've had to resort to timer at dinner table, telling him we're going to give his food to the rabbits. That boy can take an hour over one piece of bread!

TallulahPumpkin · 09/09/2014 20:49

Present (after 1 name change).

Lovely news about Cup.

Trudy Fantastic, congratulations. You snuck that in Grin.

Ips love the solitary carrot nose! I'm missing Frozen a bit. Seb moved onto Wreck-it Ralph and is currently in the midst of a Lego Movie obsession.

Engles Seb varies a lot with food. He's going through an 'I hate breakfast' stage at the moment, unless, it seems, it's coco pops; We were at DSiL the other weekend and she'd bought those mini multi-packs of cereal that mum never used to buy for us ('they're two expensive, look, there's some own brand cardboard'). He was in the middle of refusing all breakfast when he heard me say coco pops and grabbed the packet saying 'Oo coco pops open it mummy, open it'. He ate them with relish (not literal relish Grin). The odd thing is, we never buy them. Not sure where he's had those Hmm

KillashandraRee · 09/09/2014 21:42

Can't link Engels but it's same thread, one about butterfly in bereavement x

Had a nightmare with E today. At a friends house and he deliberately smashed friends piggy bank.

I took him home immediately. He doesn't seem to be responding to time out/ no etc. at the moment. He was devastated, full on tears and tantrums. Not sure if I'm doing the right thing. I think there is certain behaviour that is beyond a time out eg breaking things/ biting. What does everyone else think/ do? I don't want him to have no friends Sad

MrsHende · 13/09/2014 08:24

Checking in!

Maternity leave has begun! Hooray! I've got two weeks to go now till baby 2 arrives...I've a feeling that mat leave this time round might be a bit different though with L still to entertain! Not quite so relaxing!

Congratulations Trudy! Your dress is beautiful.

How are you feeling Engels? I'm assured by friends that a newborn and toddler is much easier that being pregnant with a toddler.

Killa, it sounds to me like you did the right thing by just removing him altogether. I think at this stage, that's what will have the biggest impact. Wine For you and remember that everything is a phase.

Hello to everyone else!!

CallingAllEngels · 13/09/2014 08:55

Wow, mrsh ! Only 2 weeks!

I'm feeling much better this last week actually. Mw rang Thursday to say my b12 and iron are low so have to go to gp on Monday.

Parents arriving for a week today and M is very excited about seeing them.

killa m had a few strops at the zoo yesterday which most of the time was funny but the little blighter twisted my finger. Not using reins now with him as the bolting has mostly stopped, but always has a strop when we leave playgrounds.

KillashandraRee · 13/09/2014 09:56

2 weeks MrsH that's so exciting Grin

Engels will you get chance to get some rest? Low iron + pregnancy + toddler is a killer.
How is your DH now?

I think my tough love definitely had an effect E has listened to me more since it happened. Poor love has just had most horrendous hair cut just in time for preschool i feel guilty for giving him something others can poke fun at Blush

CallingAllEngels · 13/09/2014 19:26

My DPs might take M for a few hours if I want this week killa - they're having him on DH's daddy day so he can crack on with the baby room. But actually feeling a lot better than I was a week ago.

I cut M's hair myself last year just before we went on holiday and he ended up with a rather tragic fringe in all our holiday photos Blush

KillashandraRee · 17/09/2014 21:20

Hope parents visit is going well Engels? Are you feeling any brighter?

MrsH hope first week of maternity leave is going well.

E seems to have calmed down a bit I think preschool is helping. Only thing is he's come home saying a word over and over that sounds suspiciously like wank Confused

strawberrypenguin · 18/09/2014 10:36

Oh dear killa I hope it's something innocent instead!

I took W to the pet shop yesterday and we chose a hamster together Grin she's a gorgeous cute little thing - I let W name her so she's called Tweak Grin it could have been worse if she was a boy he wanted to call it Captain Barnicles!
