Oh sweet Strawberry!

Eli wants a rabbit but I can't cope with any more animals yet!

Wish I wasn't on maternity leave today all the coverage on the Scottish referendum is making me really sad Sad

CallingAllEngels · 18/09/2014 19:38

I'm shattered killa ! Fine as long as I don't have to do anything Grin but 3 days of work has knocked me for 6 - will be off to bed shortly.

Getting my first B12 shot tomorrow so am hoping to perk up.

My mum and dad took M today so DH could get on with the baby room. he came home chattering about seeing airplanes and parachutists and sitting on an army truck and a tank (big events here this week to commemorate 70 years since the Operation which attempted to liberate the Netherlands at the end of WW2 but which didn't quite come off).

CheshireDing · 20/09/2014 21:35

I'm here ! Physically but maybe not mentally Grin

Been a bit hard going being at work with Monty still feeding. Because P was 12 months when I went back to work I think I only had about 2 weeks overlap of feeding her just until Midnight. Since being at work this time, as I went back when M was 8 months I had been expressing in one of the meeting rooms, then feeding from bedtime, overnight, then a quick morning feed before going to work. Have managed to not need to express any more and am just doing the rest of the feeds now but he certainly doesn't sleep through. In my twenties I used to think I was tired some days, how wrong I was ! Plus P has only just started a spell this week of sleeping through. She missed a party last weekend because she was throwing up and really hot and has now passed it to me and M :(

After 2 weeks of negotiating we have had an offer accepted on an ugly house so hope to complete mid October after P's Birthday, this will be our final house (supposedly), P wants Chickens and one of them is being named after one of the Nursery Nurses Blush - Thankfully she didn't seem offended by "Heather Chicken" Grin when P told her

P entered a baking competition last week, obviously I thought her squashed flat, missing the Vanilla and slightly burnt Rock Cakes were the best entry there Wink. I entered a Wholemeal and Cranberry Loaf and intended on bringing it home but didn't move it from the table in time and it got auctioned off ! Shock

On our way out in the car today there was a cat in the road, it had been hit by a car so i put it on my knee and we took it to the Vets. I was howling in the car and had blood dripping from its foot and nose/mouth, thankfully M fell asleep whilst we drove there and P was more interested than traumatised and came in to the room with me. Because the cat was in pain/scared (I presume) it did a massive poo on the car seat, on the mat, in the car boot (where I moved it too after it had pooed whilst I was holding it) and on a Muslin I had wrapped it in the car now STINKS. On a positive it was Microchipped and they called the lady straight away and the cat (Ernie) should be ok Smile P said "I want to be a Vet and help poorly kitty cats get better"

So excited for you MrsH, could be any day now, fx.

Hope you're coping with double Ips, Killa and Pene x

Hope your DH is doing okay too Engels and you and No2 of course.

Sorry for not mentioning everyone, think I have whittered too much.

PenelopeLane · 23/09/2014 09:42

I'm here too!

Engels I left at 34 weeks and didn't regret it! Throughout my entire second pregnancy I felt at least 2 weeks ahead of my last one in terms of being tired etc, and I left at 34 weeks exhausted. And thanks for starting the roll call Grin

cheshire I hope you manage some sleep soon, it all sounds tough being so tired. Sad Am impressed you were expressing at work though, I've often thought that shows a level of dedication I just don't have. I stopped expressing and went to formula the month before going back to work.

Mrs how's the maternity leave going?

Trudyla your wedding pics looked fab Smile

I've enjoyed reading and catching up on your news, sorry about slack posting.

I am good but have had a bizarre, draining month. First, I went back to work after 13 months off on the day our expressions of interest were due for redundancy, and opted for voluntary redundancy. I then found out it was granted on day four back, and was effectively served my notice, so my last day will be next week, 3.5 weeks after going back. Then I've had to miss a bunch of days due to both DCs having hand foot and mouth disease anyway, have had some stresses job hunting, and the whole uncertainty of everything was really starting to do my head in. I feel OK now, and have been enjoying being back at work for the short time I'm there, but the downside is I've remembered how nice it is to be without DC every now and again so when I go back to being a SAHM I'm worried I'll feel more trapped. I've especially enjoyed being able to walk at adult pace, and being able to pop out for appointments without an entourage

I wish we could afford to keep L in nursery, even one day a week, but can't really.

TallulahPumpkin · 28/09/2014 22:47

Hey everyone

Pen Hope it all goes well. I can understand that it might feel daunting but try to see this as a new adventure.

Cheshire Grin at Heather Chicken.
P's baking already? I think Seb might be a bit behind on things like that.

He is, though, finally getting the hang of using a toilet (or big potty as he calls it). He prefers the toilet with a little seat to the potty. He's mainly been copying the others at the CMs but has started to be OK using it here as well now. I think we might be on the way, woo hoo!

Funny story for you girls: the other day I was picking Seb up and chatting to the CM assistant when he said 'Umm, yummy bogey', and looked really pleased with himself. We both cracked up and I said 'where did you pick that up from?', meaning the phrase. Quick as a flash Seb piped up (you can see where this is going can't you?) 'my nose"! Cue big grin and much laughter.

Also...the other day Seb was trying to finish a sentence (he often starts with one when he doesn't quite know how it's going to finish!) and Dh said 'come on, spit it out' and Seb stops, looks at dh and...starts spitting! We've spent ages trying to get him to stop spitting Grin.

MrsHende · 29/09/2014 08:21

Hello all, just a quick pop in to say hello and let you know that L's little sister arrived on Friday morning!

All well, planned sections are the way forward!

Meg is a wee star and, so far, Lizzie adores her!

strawberrypenguin · 29/09/2014 10:41

Congratulations MrsH Thanks love her name :-)

CallingAllEngels · 29/09/2014 11:47

Congrats MrsH

Just back from hen weekend in UK which I organised. So relieved it's over and my best friend had a good time. I felt so pressured to make sure it was good (especially because she already had a NZ hen do so felt like it had to live up to the same standards!).

Will be back later to catch up properly on everyone's news. Today is about getting the house shipshape (DH unsupervised with DS for 4 days = nothing has been done!) and sleeping!

ClimbingPenguin · 29/09/2014 21:30
KillashandraRee · 30/09/2014 04:34

Congratulations MrsH Meg looks gorgeous!

Going back to read rest of posts now as may be up a while...E refusing to sleep and just woken J. Yawn...

TallulahPumpkin · 01/10/2014 22:38

Congrats MrsH.

Trudyla · 02/10/2014 07:58

Awww. I love baby news! Huge congratulations MrsHende!!!

PenelopeLane · 02/10/2014 20:48

Congrats :)

strawberrypenguin · 06/10/2014 19:45

How is M MrsH is L still ok with her?

Did S have a nice birthday duck (I know it was a little while ago now!)

We braved ikea yesterday and finally got round to buying W a grown up bed! He's asleep in it now and so far so good (the cat is quite pleased too, she has another bed to choose from now!)

AwkwardAnnie · 09/10/2014 23:44

Hi All! After months off the thread I thought I'd catch up and say Hello. (I was Bilblio) Hello too to all the new babies.

S is doing very well. So very cute and far more pleasant and funny than his big sister ever was/is, he's a real comic and charmer, although he still has almighty tantrums stomping his feet, but they're so rare and overly dramatic when they do happen that they're still funny.

No progress with potty training at all, when we ask if he's doing a poo we get "don't look at me!!!" With B we delayed potty training until she was 3.2 as we had a long drive down to Cornwall so didn't fancy trying it with her in knickers. She didn't want to use a potty either. But we got back from Cornwall on the Saturday and she started pre-school on the Monday. They said to send her in in knickers. She had 1 accident the first day (she didn't know where the toilet was) and was dry from then on. Hoping S will do the same at some point before he starts pre-school in January.

Funny reading about others going into a grown up bed. S has a box room, so we bought an Ikea bed base and 2 of the open 5x1 shelf units which laid down make up his bed. Brilliant use of space, but higher than I expected. It's about 3" lower than his window. He can just climb onto it. He fell out for the first 4 nights, we'd put duvets on the floor, we'd hear a thud and find him asleep on the floor, or even asleep stood up leaning against the bed. Thankfully he's been fine since.

It's his birthday next Tuesday. He's obsessed with Lego, Spiderman, Octonauts and Superheros. So he's getting Lego Spiderman and some Fisher Price Marvel Superheros, as well as Spiderman and Marvel bedding. We're also going to have Breakfast with Spiderman this weekend, and if the weather is okay on Saturday we're going to Salford Quays as there's loads of things going on while they're filming the CBeebies panto in Manchester.

Right best get to bed. B has started refusing to sleep in her room, she's in bed with me most nights and DH is in her room. Then S is waking up shouting for me too. It's been going on for about 4 weeks. Running out of options to try (done being nice, being strict, bribery, threats, sorting out possible bullying at school, long chats) nothing has worked so off to the Doctors next week. I'm Shattered! How I coped with multiple night feeds I don't remember. I was so tired yesterday at work I was trembling!

Right bed, really!

TallulahPumpkin · 16/10/2014 16:37

Not too much further to report on potty training here. He's (mostly) happy to go if you put him on but doesn't ask/tell us in advance. I think a weekend in pants, or no nappy/pull up, may be the answer and I'll try not to think about our cream carpets.

Annie I feel for you re: sleeping. Sebs going through a 'scared' phase. He has barely been to sleep before 9pm for the last week, mostly nearer 10 as he doesn't want to sleep on his own and then is awake in the early hours too. He keeps saying he's scared but doesn't know what of, although he was telling the CM about a nightmare he had the other day and looked really frightened. Once we are there he is completely fine and just wants to mess about. He wants us to get into bed with him and he's taken to wanting to lie on me, I mean completely head to foot on top of me. Not overly comfortable if I'm completely honest! We've had to put our foot down and it's horrible but he did settle himself when he woke this morning about 4.

At this rate we're going to have to re-name the thread 'We can hardly believe it's true, our babies are turning twenty-two!' Grin.

strawberrypenguin · 16/10/2014 20:15

Grin at renaming the thread tallulah we do seem to have slowed down a lot.

Poor Seb not being able to sleep doesn't sound fun for any of you.

We're having a nursery issue at the moment W keeps being hit/bitten by the same boy. After today when I picked him up with a massive bite mark between his shoulder blades I've asked for a meeting with the nursery manager I'm really cross that they keep letting it happen.

KillashandraRee · 16/10/2014 22:22

Grin Tallulah you're right. I've had a few half written posts but they get left unfinished as some drama with E or J happens.

Strawberry Sad for W and the biting.

R is now three Smile cant believe how quickly it has gone. He was at preschool today and DH and I picked him up and took him to feed the ducks and then for fish and chips. We're having a party tomorrow and I'm half way through the cake but had to give up as I'm knackered.

E is going through a scared phase too we've had weeks of wake ups in the night, nightmares and having to remove toys in the middle of the night as they are scaring him.

His birthday presents from us were nightlight/ new bedding/ clock etc. definite theme of getting him to stay in bed Wink

ClimbingPenguin · 17/10/2014 23:45

Both mine went through scared phases. Might sound counterproductive but letting them watch some scary programs or books with a monster in might help as they at least they can use the words. It might not really be a monster but they know the feeling is right. With DD we played lots of gams with the monsters or animals that came to the house. I then had to give them a stern goodbye and ask them to leave/go to sleep as they kept sneaking back in ;)

ClimbingPenguin · 17/10/2014 23:48

I was worried about the carpets but actually trousers do absorb most of it.

DS was in pants for about two months but he decided to just get it. He knew what to do and go to the toilet if prompted. Tbh I'd rather he went back into nappies but nursery didn't want to and DS wasn't upset about it. Washing was still easier than washing nappies. We brought some Spider-Man pants near the end and said these were for when he ready as otherwise he would have to put them all in the wash and run out. Five days later he said he wanted them on and has had no accidents since (four weeks)

TallulahPumpkin · 18/10/2014 23:23

We got some 'days of the week Dino pants' today for Seb (Mon Daysaur, Tues Daysaur etc). Hoping they are the catalyst Grin.

Straw Seb does the biting here. Sad We just can't get him to stop.

TallulahPumpkin · 30/10/2014 22:37

Hello? Anyone there?

strawberrypenguin · 31/10/2014 20:11

Hello! I'm here, keep meaning to post and then something comes up!

W went to nursery as a skeleton today and they did load of Halloween stuff! Hopefully nursery are keeping a much closer eye on the biter too as we've not had any more problems so I hope that's the end of it!

I had my last day at work today - new job on Monday, feels very weird to be leaving I've been there 8 years!

TallulahPumpkin · 31/10/2014 21:07

I've given up handing out treats and started eating them Halloween Grin

strawberrypenguin · 31/10/2014 21:10

We had a few knocks earlier but none since about 7.30 we blew the pumpkin out then although we never get many here anyway
