We have Fireman Sam pants as well! (and Thomas!).

So far we've had a wet and dirty nappy this morning before I got up (M went back to bed and was reading after DH left). and since then he's been in pants, sat on toilet twice but not done anything. I'm on edge waiting for him to wee!

Hot and soapy water at the ready.

Reckon I'll be posting a bit more frequently for moral support!

How old is J now killa ?

M waves "Bye bye wee wee!" every time we flush the toilet ips

CallingAllEngels · 08/08/2014 09:31

Okay, first pee of the day...on the kitchen floor!

CallingAllEngels · 08/08/2014 10:12

Floor 3- Toilet 1. I think we may need more pants...

ipswichwitch · 08/08/2014 10:13

At least it's mopable Engels! Loving the "bye bye wee wee" :) N likes to send Mr Poo off to Pooland to see him mam and dad Grin

We have more pants here than you could shake a stick at - Thomas, Fireman Sam, Jake and the Neverland Pirates, Mickey Mouse and Bob the Builder. He is pants mad!! This is week 3 and he's only had one accident (probably due to tiredness though).

Having a horrible time with sleep here with both DC. We saw the consultant who removed N's tonsils on weds, and he said that his sleep should have improved hugely since the surgery was a success an his sleep apnoea had gone. His sleep has deteriorated again, and we are having multiple night wakings. He's now referred N to the sleep clinic as we are also concerned that his lack of sleep will impact on his growth (he's that smallest in his group at nursery, despite being among the oldest). Hope it comes through soon.

D had had a rotten week for sleep too. He's waking loads and feeding too, so I'm hoping that's linked to the fact he started crawling yesterday, and will settle down. Hes waking up about an hour after being put to bed, but because he screams like he's being murdered we can't leave him to see if he'll self settle or he'll wake N, so he ends up with us downstairs until we go to bed and he co-sleeps with us. I have no idea what to do now, we're all exhausted and I start work a week on Monday. May post in sleep and see what people reckon.

KillashandraRee · 08/08/2014 11:17

Oh ips that sounds tough. No suggestions just a big bar of chocolate and Brew from me x

Engels J is 11wks and over 14lbs now.

We've had one accident this morning so far...

ipswichwitch · 08/08/2014 11:35

Thanks Killa
Is it bad that I've already eaten a packet of revels?

CallingAllEngels · 08/08/2014 11:59

It's not bad ips - got any left?

poo in pants - yuk!

The boy's just not getting it. He knows as soon as he's done a wee, but won't even sit on the toilet! Think I may have to take bribery a step further and a sweet when he sits on toilet!

ipswichwitch · 08/08/2014 12:06

I can offer a few revels for bribery purposes if that helps!
We had a good few days where I didn't think N got it at all. He'd stand and look while he weed in his pants. After that something just clicked and he first got upset about weeing on Bob (!) then progressed to asking for the potty and now he takes himself off to use it when he wants. I do still ask him if he needs to go but not every 15 mins like at the start. He mostly needs reminding when he's doing something fun or he's tired. You will get there! Even if it doesn't seem like it will happen before you run out of carpet shampoo...

ipswichwitch · 08/08/2014 12:09

Also, I didn't try the toilet at first, just the potty. Then once he got used to that tried introducing the toilet but he wouldn't sit on it at all, so I got a travel potty which was great. Now he will go on the toilet no problem. And he only now occasionally asks for chocolate buttons after! I was worried about creating a Pavlovian response to the toilet (see chocolate, do a wee Grin)

MrsHende · 08/08/2014 16:30

So good to hear about other people's pooey pants!!

Ips, the lack of sleep sounds very tough. Chocolate all the way, one bag of revels sounds very restrained to me! I hope the sleep clinic can help. Does he go down well but wakes through the night or not go down well?

Well, day two and so far potty 2 - floor 4. So, we've doubled yesterday's success rate! I feel like L is the same though, absolutely no awareness at all when she's about to pee, the times she's done it in the potty have been when she's been sitting on it anyway. I'm holding out hope for it clicking soon.

Wee soul has just fallen asleep on the sofa. It's so late though I'm tempted to wake her up. She never got a nap today for various reasons so must be exhausted but she was still awake, in bed, at 10.15pm last night so I was going to try and battle through to an early bedtime without a nap. Hmm, goes against the grain to wake her! However, as well as being too late for a nap she hasn't got a nappy on, really don't want MORE pee on the sofa!

CallingAllEngels · 08/08/2014 17:30

ips you're on MN talk round up!

Final score for today floor 4 carpet 2 toilet 2. DH is taking over tomorrow. It may have all got a little too much for me this afternoon after the poo. Surely pg women should be able to delgate tasks like this?!

ipswichwitch · 08/08/2014 19:45

Eeee! So I am Engels! Fame at last eh!

MrsH he goes down at bedtime ok. Sometimes the usual toddler type messing about but generally no bother other than one of us has to sit with him until he's asleep. After story time that usually takes just 10 min. We tried gradual withdrawal but he gets hysterical. It's the sheer number of night wakings that's the issue really. Last night was at least 8.
The consultant said the worry is that if he's not sleeping he may not be developing, since you grow when you're asleep. He's already small for his age. I'll ring on Monday and see what the waiting list is like.

KillashandraRee · 08/08/2014 22:40

8 timesHmm ipswitch you need more than one bag of revels!

We're the same with potty Engels and MrsH, e will use potty if I put him on, but will not say he needs to wee, will go and hide to poo, and today after trying to wee and saying he couldn't, five minutes later he'd wet himself. I have to remember he's not being sneaky he's just two when he disappears and comes back wet!

Today we had 3 wees and 1 poo in pants Hmm but we went out and had guests too so lots of excitement and no timer to remind me to pop him on. We'll see how tomorrow goes I might have to purchase chocolate buttons, raisins not working well enough?

CallingAllEngels · 09/08/2014 10:15

ips we had massive sleep problems between 2 and 2.6. Sure I posted about it at the time. Same thing, first hysterics getting to sleep and we had to gradually over 2 months move further away till he was asleep until we were outside the door (and he wouod still call to make sure we were there) and now we can just turn the light off, shut the door and go downstairs.

He was waking 8, 9 10 times per night and refusing to stay in his own bed. In the end we gave in and let him sleep in our bed because I just couldn't get through the day otherwise. Eventually the tough love approach and chcolate bribery worked, but it was a horrible 6 months - worse than the newborn stage because I was back at work and he was waking more than when he was a baby.

ipswichwitch · 09/08/2014 13:13

Until this last week he has been waking more than D. When he does wake through the night he doesn't want to get in our bed, he's crying because he wants to be asleep in his own bed, and saying things like "I can't sleep" :(
Because of the apnoea he had gotten a bit scared of going to sleep, hence the wanting one of us there to hand hold until he drops off, and I think he still thinks the stopping breathing will happen again. It was awful, he's wake sobbing but not really understand what's going on.
I don't know wether to try the gradual retreat again. I don't think either me or DH have the energy to right now. Too tired to figure out what to do next.

Killa, it was a family sized bag of revels! I even ate the coffee ones :)

CallingAllEngels · 09/08/2014 15:11

Oh ips sounds horrific. My colleagues used to ask me how many times he'd been awake over lunch everday as I yawned through the day. ((Hugs)) Flowers and sackloads of revels.

not going well here today - nothing on the potty and one very sticky poo in pants to clean up. But he finally knows when he's done a wee . Can't I hire someone to do this for me?

strawberrypenguin · 09/08/2014 21:08

Sounds horrible for all of you ips hope you all get some sleep soon

I was putting W to bed tonight and was reading his bedtime story when he asked me to put it on his knees (no) then on the far side of him (no) he look at me and in his sternest voice said 'those are your options Mummy' I know I shouldn't have done but I just burst out laughing! I guess I must use that with him a lot!

ipswichwitch · 10/08/2014 10:02

Engels you need that elderly Korean lady off the other thread Grin

Grin at "those are your options mummy"!!!

CallingAllEngels · 10/08/2014 19:35

Nothing on poo otty today, despite sitting on it regularly,. As soon as he's off he wees/poos. Little beggar even hid u
nder the bed at bedtime today, refused to come and sit on the toilet then did a poo. Think maybe I need to back off.

Yes a little old lady would be handy ips - reckon my dm would be awesome at this!

KillashandraRee · 10/08/2014 19:59

DH put E on nappy this morning and we had so many guests I didn't put him in pants til afternoon. He tried to hide from me when in nappy as he was doing a poo, but managed to persuade him to finish it on toilet on understanding I gave him a book and closed the door to leave him to it! Grin

KillashandraRee · 12/08/2014 22:09

Engels / MrsH how's the training going? I was about to throw in the towel yesterday but today we have had no accidents. I still have to prompt to go on potty rather than him ask but it's still a real leap forward Smile

Off to hospital tomorrow for Jonah's brace to come off - he'll have to have it on at night times but will be free in the day for the first time in 8 weeks and we can now bath him at home Grin

PenelopeLane · 13/08/2014 01:23

We're not having much luck with potty training here - A regressed after a bout of terrible nappy rash, which was slightly illogical as I kept trying to tell him it would be better with his nappies off, but no ....

I am off to work in 3 weeks (eeek!) for at least 2 months before possible redundancy kicks in. We'll see. I don't really mind anymore about it all, although might feel differently next year if I'm still unemployed! I've pretty much decided to apply for redundancy, have the summer off (can't wait!) then job hunt in the new year. Now I just need to hope redundancy gets granted to me ... and wait ... and wait some more ...

Hope everyone is well!

Fave TV programme here is the Wots Wots, it's a NZ show about two aliens that visit the Wellington Zoo. A loves it, because he loves animals at present

MrsHende · 13/08/2014 14:48

Argh! I hate potty training!

Seriously debating giving up. She doesn't seem to know at all when she needs to go, so any successes just seem to be luck. If that was the only thing I'd maybe persevere but she seems to have stopped pooing. Since Thursday she's pooed once during the day (on the kitchen floor!), and the other days she's either not pooed at all or is doing it at night when she's asleep. We're still treating the constipation she's had since November and were finally at the stage of having one dirty nappy a day and I feel like this has been a huge step backwards. Will keep trying till the weekend and decide what to do...

Back to work officially tomorrow, been in every day this week getting myself sorted out and I'm exhausted already. Dreading doing full days, 5 days a week - roll on maternity leave!!

strawberrypenguin · 13/08/2014 22:56

We've definitely stalled in the potty training here, W is in pull ups instead of pants as like your finding MerH W doesn't seem to realise when he needs to go, so it's pull ups and me putting on the potty still at various times during the day with mixed success.

Hope the brace came off OK today killa

PenelopeLane · 13/08/2014 23:28

I've given up - I've read a couple of times that if you do it before they're ready it's just not going to work, so have decided to give it another whirl in a while. It's kind of like 2 steps forward 1 step back here, hopefully next time it works though ... like you two Mrs and Strawb it just seems like a coincidence when it works.

Good luck at work!
