N is obsessed with minions! It started with all the adverts for Despicable Me 2, then he saw the first one, now everything is "minion minion! Potty training going well, he's dry for the most part (just the odd accident here and there, usually when he's too busy having fun to want to sit on a potty!) He absolutely won't get on a toilet so I had to get a travel potty, which is like a little case he loves carrying it about! He's now taking himself off to the potty, even for poos, so I'm not nagging him all the time.

Had D to the drop in centre yesterday at 7am with a very high temp that wasn't responding to calpol, and he has a virus. Diarrhoea started this morning so I'm trying to bf loads as the dr said he's dehydrated. Really bad timing as DH is working offshore!

strawberrypenguin · 28/07/2014 15:51

Poor D ips hope he perks up soon. Glad potty training is going so well with N. we had our second serious try with W this weekend and he's doing pretty well, he won't say when he wants to go though so if I guess the gap between trips wrong he wets himself! Hoping that will come in time as he hated being wet this time round. Have decided nursery probably wouldn't appreciate having him in pants yet though so he's gone in pull ups.

I love the different tv shows and things they get obsessed with W is going through a bid octonauts phase at the moment which is at least watchable!

CallingAllEngels · 28/07/2014 16:57

Trying potty training again this week but will start on Thursday (he's in nursery for the next 2 days).

Totally into Cars and Planes atm, but he always asks for Scooby Doo (I have some of the really old ones).

Hope D feels better soon ips

TallulahPumpkin · 28/07/2014 22:11

Not started potty training yet. Not really looking forward to it. I keep asking him if he wants to go on he potty or toilet seat but he prefers to pee in the bath Blush. A potty just can't compare with that?!

Ips hope D gets better soon. Hang in there. Giving you some virtual Wine and Cake to get you through (didn't there used to be chocolate on here?)

TallulahPumpkin · 28/07/2014 22:12

Er, just to clarify, he pees in the bath at bathtime, not an empty bath. That would be odd.

ipswichwitch · 29/07/2014 09:04

D seems better today thanks. He's been so clingy, so has N but I think that's with his dad being away. Had a rotten night. N woke at 1 and took forever to settle. I was hearing noises in the garden and thought it was a cat, then I heard a man whistle twice. Def a man - there's no animal makes that noise. Then nothing. Thinking someone was in the garden trying to break into either house or garage and getting up for N disturbed them. So no sleep for me after that. N wouldn't settle so ended up in bed with me and D. God I hope DH is back soon, im exhausted!

Grin Tallulah N liked to pee in the bath. Soon as you'd put him in he'd stand for a sec, pee then sit down. We started running a shallow bath and putting the potty in it, he thought it was great! Then we progressed from weeping in there to having him sit on it before the bath and once he was happy with that we started potty training proper.

straw, N wouldn't say if he needed the potty so I just kept putting him on frequently for a few days, then relaxed a bit. After a few accidents he decided he really didn't like being wet, and certainly didn't like pooing in his pants (after one memorable incident) and now will just take himself off to the potty. I am still asking him when we 're out/taking him anyway. I think something just clicked with him.

ipswichwitch · 29/07/2014 09:05

Peeing not weeping. There was def no crying going on!

KillashandraRee · 29/07/2014 10:44

Oh ipswitch how scary! Have you had a look round in the daylight to see if you can see any signs of attempted entry? You could speak to police on non emergency number and ask them to come past tonight just in case? Xx

KillashandraRee · 29/07/2014 10:46

Re potty training we've had a few attempts but E seems to have taken against it at the moment I think as a reaction to J's arrival. He also isn't put off by wet pants or dirty ones (little grub!). Am hoping to try again before end of holidays so that he's dry before preschool in September.

MrsHende · 05/08/2014 19:55

Wish me luck ladies, first attempt at potty training starts tomorrow! Have to go out for a few errands so will start the day in nappies but we'll go shopping for her to choose some pants then have a bash at being nappy-less in the afternoon...argh!! Scared!! Got a big pack of antibacterial wipes at the ready!

Anyone know how to get sudocream out of a carpet? Just a small bit, but irritating me!

Another question! What do your wee ones like playing with? L has lost interest in jigsaws and drawing and, as she is in nursery a lot less now I'm in need of some ideas of toys and activities to stock up on to try and avoid using the dreaded telly too much. I'm back to school next week, for four weeks, before mat leave starts so was planning to go shopping this weekend for some bits and pieces.

Hope all is well!

strawberrypenguin · 05/08/2014 20:03

Good luck with the potty training MrsH W is getting there slowly but I have had to put him in pull ups as he still won't say when he needs to go but will wee when put on potty!

W likes playing imaginative games using toys from his favourite tv shows. He has loads of Postman Pat toys (figures & cars) some Fireman Sam and we're slowly building up his Octonauts collection. Earlier he had Sam and Pat in the post van driving to help Captain Barnacles rescue a sea monster!

ipswichwitch · 05/08/2014 20:57

Good luck MrsH! Have a bowl of hot soapy water at the ready (bitter experience!) N seems to cracked it - just the odd accident - now it's nighttime to tackle next.

N likes Happyland type stuff. He's got a dinosaur and volcano set, and digger with builders and will often have the dinosaur eating a builder and demolishing his other toys! He does like a bit of craft stuff. I got some coloured paper, glitter, sparkly shapes, pom-poms and a pot of glue. Since it's nice weather I can sit him in the garden with it all, the bonus being no mess in the house. He also loves play-doh. Forever finding little bits stuck to his clothes!

CallingAllEngels · 05/08/2014 20:59

M refuses to sit on potty, but will use toiletk though yesterday he refused both. Won't tell us when he's weed or pooed thoug. Guess the only thing to do is just go for it but I am feeling pretty rubbish at the moment and have developed pg waddle even though I'm so early on still!

ds is getting the hang of puzzles now, but also likes cars or trains or playing with plastic food/money. At the moment he's surgically attached to a red panda puppet which he keeps shoving up his t-shirt as a baby.

Just over 2 weeks left of school holidays for me. Dreading 3 months of teaching before ml. This pg is so different to the last one - I'm shattered!

I am in full Christmas shopping mode atm though!

Killa, when I got up next morning I checked and there were no signs of any tampering of the back door or garage door so either I scared them off with all the light being switched on when N woke up, or it was just kids messing about (that has happened before but not to us). Anyway, nothing has happened since so fingers x that's the end of that.

ipswichwitch · 05/08/2014 21:57

Engels you and me both, I've seen you on the Christmas bargain thread ;)

My phone is being weird and either posting instead of starting another paragraph or posting twice (smart phone my arse!)

MrsHende · 07/08/2014 10:13

So far on day 1...

Potty 0 - Floor 4

....

CallingAllEngels · 07/08/2014 13:03

You've inspired me MrsH . Tomorrow I am going for it - Thomas pants, wipes, potty and bucket at the ready!

ipswichwitch · 07/08/2014 15:16

It gets better MrsH! Thank god!!! I may have resorted to good old fashioned chocolate button bribery however...

ipswichwitch · 07/08/2014 15:17

D had just started crawling!! Not even 8mo yet

KillashandraRee · 07/08/2014 15:19

Yay go D!

I'm on day 2 of training. I accident today so far....

MrsHende · 07/08/2014 15:45

So glad to have some potty buddies!!

After that last post she promptly peed on me and the sofa, but we have had one pee in the potty since, hooray!! Percy
Piglets been given as a reward. I'm assured by lots of friends that tomorrow will be better. Today I'm just grateful for detox wipes, no carpets and Netfilx!

strawberrypenguin · 07/08/2014 18:07

Yay for D ips

I feel your pain MrsH we've taken te long haul approach to potty training and W is in pull ups after my carpet couldn't take any more! He is getting there though - had a very excited phone call from his nursery while I was at work today telling me that he'd done a huge poo on the potty (first time for poo) and was really proud of himself Grin

ipswichwitch · 07/08/2014 18:39

Yay for the potty trainers!
The praise we've been heaping on N for doing so well has obviously stuck with him. We were in the museum toilets this morning, and he came in the cubicle with me. He (in a very loud voice) decided I needed praise too, and said "yaaay! Mammy weed!" Followed by "Mammys pants. Pull up pants now!" Then a round of applause and a reminder to wash my hands! So, the 5 women who were also in the toilets know I am also potty trained. Thanks N!!

KillashandraRee · 07/08/2014 22:31

Oh ips Blush it's very sweet though!

Successfully completed day with only one accident. Fireman Sam pants helped I think

J has had his first bottle of formula tonight. I'm sad even though it was my decision. I'm still breastfeeding but am adding one bottle in the evening as a dreamfeed so it's hardly a huge change. Part of me feels a little sad there's something inside him now that hasn't come from me. I remember feeling the same way with E too. It feels like my babies are growing up and its making me broody!
