Toddler quote of the day from W. 'mummy (points to a perfectly ordinary woman) that lady's not a duck is she? Quack quack' (with hand signals) no idea what he was thinking about!

TallulahPumpkin · 04/07/2014 22:17

Lol.

Toddler quote of the day from Seb "Show me your boobies!" Blush Luckily it was to me (Hmm) in the privacy of our house.

He's also recently come out with "I like girls knickers". Should I be worried?!

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 05/07/2014 09:07

S hits out with some crackers usually when going round asda etc. one day it was 'why is that lady buying lots and lots of chocolate? I hope she is going to share!!' BlushGrin

They are so funny, I find myself laughing daily at something she has said!

Ha I love the things they come out with. E has so far managed to only utter embarrassing declarations in private but I imagine it's only a matter of time.

Had specialist appointment for J's hips last week and the brace is working so fingers crossed he won't have to move onto cast or operation. We'll find out more again on next appointment in four weeks and until then he has to keep it on 24/7 still.

Engels how're you feeling? Everything going ok?

Mummy how are things going with S's dad?

MrsH has the sickness stopped yet?

Hope everyone else is enjoying the sunshine and our super cute 2.8yr old toddlers Grin

MrsHende · 08/07/2014 10:36

Hello all!

Haven't read back, not sure when I last checked the thread!

Hope all are well and enjoying the summer.

The sickness has stopped at last!! Thanks Killa! I'm now 27 weeks...I think! It's amazing how last time I knew to the day how far along I was and now I'm not even sure about the week! And as for what's happening in there, not a clue - with L I could have told you lots of details for each stage and week of pregnancy. Just goes to show how distracting and exhausting a toddler is.

It's so lovely being on summer holiday, July is a great time to be a teacher. L is still going to nursery two days a week so I have time to chill out and get housework etc done...although today I'm also getting my nails done! I feel very guilty when I drop her off and then head home though.

I love the stories about what they are all saying now. Is anyone else living with a child who quotes movies all the time? L got a lot more tv time than we would normally have allowed when I was ill and loves films. Every day she spends more time talking in quotes than real chat! Frozen is a favourite and she often leaves the room with 'bye, I see you in two weeks' when she's off to get something from next door. Yesterday I laughed a lot at Tesco, the checkout lady said bye to her and L said 'Bye, nice to meet you all!' very loudly while waving and smiling to everyone in the queue!

Right, I'd better go and actually do some of this housework that I've been putting off till nursery day.

CallingAllEngels · 08/07/2014 17:00

I am feeling pretty rough today. 15+2 and no ms but my blood pressure is low so am feeling exhausted all the time and light headed if I do too much. Even managed to faint last week. So my days at home with M are very lazy and rather too tv-filled as well mrsh ! Only 3 more days to go and then 6 weeks summer holiday thank goodness.

listened to baby's hb at mw appt yesterday. M came with us as it was the mw who delivered him. When I picked him up from nursery today he shoved a soft toy up his t-shirt and said, "Mama, I've got a baby in the belly!" Apparently he's been doing it all day!

TallulahPumpkin · 08/07/2014 21:00

Engles that's so sweet. Seb's childminder is pregnant and Seb pushes his tummy out and announces that he has a baby brother in his tummy! He might be disappointed!!

MrsH Another Frozen obsessive here (Seb not me!). He knows much of the script and can sing along to most of the songs too. He randomly goes around signing 'lellitgo, lellitgo...'

Seb went through a phase of saying 'See you later, see you tomorrow' when saying goodbye to anyone, even if he'd just met them and we were never going to see them again.

Can I ask how much milk all the little ones are having? Seb loves his milk and dh is concerned he is having too much, is there such a thing as too much milk? We order 2ltrs of blue milk from the milkman every week and he usually ends up running out. Sometimes he gets through a litre in a day.

Seb's got a horrid cold at the moment. Nightmare sleeping last night; I got up with him at 4am in the end and was off work with him. He's upstairs crying at the moment and I feel so awful but we are just a distraction from him sleeping when we go up. He's dosed up on Calpol and Ibuprofen and has olbas oil under his sheet. What more can we do? I'm shattered and dh has the same cold Sad.

CheshireDing · 09/07/2014 20:34

Glad to hear the brace is working for little J killa

P doesn't run off at all :) but she still wakes most nights and is up by 6am(often earlier) paying no attention to the gro clock ! :( She loves M, sometimes too much and has just moved to the last room in nursery (which felt a bit scarey and sad for me anyway). Her vocabulary is fab,obv i am biased, yesterday i told her not to sit on a parcel and she said "why, is it delicate?" I just said "er,yes" whilst thinking Shock

I start anew job in August, when M is 9months and DH is going to use the rest of my ML and stay off until November

Have you decided what to do re work pene?

Tallulah not sure how much milk P drinks but she has milk, water or fresh juice in a day so maybe combined a pint of liquid per day (excluding when it's really hot)? Surely a person couldn't drink too much milk could they ?

engels sorry to hear about your DH 'diagnosis

strabs did you respond re the duck question ? :)

P's worst are she says every elderly person is a gran/grandad and she thinks boys have short hair and girls long. This must just come from.her own head but can be a tad embarrassing.

ipswichwitch · 10/07/2014 09:48

Morning all. We're on day 4 of potty training and he's doing really well - even did his poo in the potty this morning! Glad I left it til now, as MIL kept on insisting we start when he turned 2 as all hers were allegedly dry by then Hmm

Can't believe D is almost 7 months already. He's such a happy little boy. We've hit some sort of sleep regression though, and he won't be put in his cot on an evening. Just wants to be cuddled to sleep or he starts with the worst high pitched screaming ever. No isn't sleeping as well as we hoped after his surgery either. The apnoea seems to have gone but he's still waking several times a night, until the last 2 nights when he slept from 12-6, and last night slept 8-5 so fingers x he's finally getting there!

The boys absolutely adore each other still. Yesterday N wound up D's musical zebra, gave it to him, patted him on the head and said "my best friend!" He also says "bye, see you soon, later!" every time we say goodbye :)

strawberrypenguin · 10/07/2014 12:14

Yay for no more sickness mrsH Smile

Glad the brace is working killa that must be a relief.

Hope S's cold is a bit better now tallulah

I just floundered a bit to be honest chesh and went umm no she's not a duck!

W's imaginative play is really coming along, I love listening to him make up little games with his plastic people and yesterday he was playing octonauts! He was Captain Barnacles and I got be Kwaazi and he was running about to the octopod!

PenelopeLane · 13/07/2014 00:53

Hello, and thanks for the link back to the thread duck. It just disappeared, and I couldn't find it in searches either. Weird. Hopefully it's not the universe's way of telling me to spend less time on MN Grin

Tallulah yay for doing policy for government! And am laughing out loud at 'show me your boobies'. Hilarious.

A isn't that headstrong, but I can tell already that L is, even at 9 months. She's much harder to be deterred when she wants something, and already her and her brother are fighting over toys! I didn't realise that started quite so soon ...

Engels Maybe we need to be harder on A's night waking based on your experience! What we're doing now isn't working as he's still up at least once. Sigh. I felt sorry for a lady at a baby group I was at recently with a 6 month old who asked at what age did A sleep through, and I had to be honest and say he still doesn't, at almost 3! L isn't so bad though.

I hope your DH is ok re the diabetes - I grew up with a sister with type 1 so know a fair bit about it. Not anymore she's older, but when she was younger in her early 20s it was always alcohol that made things worse. And hope the blood pressure is better! Pregnancy is tiring ...

Mrs another Frozen household here! Although A finds the snow monster very scary, although it does help with teeth brushing since telling him that the snow monster lost his from not brushing them ...

Cheshire oooh splitting parental leave - we did that with A and it worked really well! And I'm going back to work in Sept for at least a month for the redundancy to take effect, and have decided not to stay if given the choice. I think at this stage of my life I'd be silly not to take the payout and have a summer home with the kids, then try and find something else later. Although may regret that if I don't find a job later of course ..

Waves to everyone else and sorry for such a mammoth post thesis

ipswichwitch · 13/07/2014 09:14

I couldn't find the thread either Pen, didn't come up on threads I'm on.

MrsH I was the same with second pregnancy - I had to sit and work out how many weeks I was a few times. First time I knew pretty much to the minute how far along I was Grin I used to get those "this week your baby is" emails from baby centre. For N I had everything ready weeks in advance, all washed and sorted. I think for D I just about managed to get some clothes washed and a pack of nappies in!

Seems I spoke to soon regarding potty training. MIL had N on Thursday and didnt offer him the potty once, then at nursery on Friday they did keep offering but he was refusing as he was having way too much fun! Now he's refusing the big boy pants so back to square one. Was hoping to get him sorted before I'm back at work next month.

CallingAllEngels · 13/07/2014 11:26

Packing for holiday with a toddler in tow is not ideal. Time for some TV babysitting I think...

CallingAllEngels · 13/07/2014 13:45

Foret to say, dh has started on mfp this week and started walking for 20-30 minutes at lunchtime with a colleague who also wants to lose weight/stop middle aged spread and he's lost 1kg in a week! Not sure heading off on holiday with dsis and dbil in France is going to help mind!

strawberrypenguin · 21/07/2014 16:35

How's everyone coping in this heat? W is loving it! If I didn't know better I'd think he'd been switched somewhere along the way as I'm just a melting puddle of grump!

We made the call this weekend to stop him having an afternoon nap, he seems to be coping ok so far and is falling asleep so much quicker - although he did almost fall asleep in his dinner yesterday!

CheshireDing · 21/07/2014 18:39

That sounds a good idea Engels and it's clearly working if he has lost weight in a week ! :)

Very hot today Strabs might need to re-inflate the paddling pool for tomorrow.

P is getting homework now from nursery and it's not a good sign that I keep forgetting to do it until the last minute with her, I clearly need to improve before school Grin

TallulahPumpkin · 21/07/2014 22:20

Homework for a 2.7yo Shock. What is it? Crayon scribbling?!

strawberrypenguin · 21/07/2014 22:58

Blimey chesh homework?! I'm not sure if I'd laugh or just stand there with my mouth hanging open of nursery presented me with homework for W. What is it?

KillashandraRee · 22/07/2014 09:39

Homework?!! Shock

CheshireDing · 22/07/2014 21:19

No, like, actual PROPER homework Shock no crayoning Grin unfortunately. Have done it so she can hand it in tomorrow (rather than the usual week later). It was matching dinosaurs and counting how many of each type to write at the bottom of the page.

Please tell me other peoples children have a least 1 meltdown per day, or is it just my atrocious Parenting ?!

CheshireDing · 22/07/2014 21:21

I wonder if this will work if I try and attach a picture of said homework ?

October 2011 - we can hardly believe its true, our babies are turning two!!
strawberrypenguin · 22/07/2014 22:08

That is proper homework chesh Shock

And no it's not just yours W had at least 3 tantrums this evening! Over really minor stuff like DH helped him onto his dinner chair and he wanted it to be me - only he hadn't said that before he was helped! I think it's the heat!

TallulahPumpkin · 22/07/2014 22:38

Blimey. Although I'm pleased to see she did get some scribbling in too Grin

Yep, meltdown's here too.

ipswichwitch · 23/07/2014 23:31

Tantrums here too - let's blame the heat! I'm so hot and bothered I feel like having one Grin
N had one today because I wouldn't buy him sweets at the corner shop then wouldn't let him on the swings on the way home. It was already late for his bath, and I discovered we had run out of milk for breakfast. DH is working offshore hence my dragging both kids to the shop at bath time! Poor lad gave up halfway home and sat down sobbing "my mummy cuddle!" So we had a hug and he got to ride home in the basket of D's pushchair :)

N had never had homework from nursery, but I have! They ask us to bring in photos of N and the family, and if he achieves something new we take in a picture with a written section describing what he's done. Nursery staff then link it to the EYFS and keep it in his file to show his progression. Just read it the other week and it's amazing to see how far he's come from the wee 8mo that started at nursery!

TallulahPumpkin · 27/07/2014 19:56

Ladies and gentlemen, we have a new favourite film - Wreck it Ralph. It's actually very watchable - think Toy Story set in an games arcade. Frozen has not been requested in weeks (literally about a week after I bough the Blu-ray!), it's now all 'I watch weckitalf?'

Lightning McQueen is long forgotten and we got him a sodding remote control lightning mcqueen for his birthday a while ago when it was on sale!

It's quiet on the thread at the moment.
