Arg three!?!?!?! There is nothing like having kids to make time feel like it's moving so quickly

CallingAllEngels · 03/01/2014 10:11

I HAVE to make sure M gets outside today. We have spent so much time the last 2 weeks either inside or in the car and t u is boy badly needs a run around.

3? Will he have stopped saying "No!"to everythign I ask him by then?

Sleep a nightmare here. He wakes up when we go to bed every night now and is a stealthy ninja when it comes to sneaking into our bed at 3am. I just wake up and he's there. I can't see a way of breaking the cycle, especially when I don't hear him come in anymore.

TwosaCrowd · 05/01/2014 09:18

Art/scheh here. BFP!

MrsHende · 05/01/2014 09:20

Congratulations two/art/sche!!

Fingers crossed 2014 is a good year for all of us ttc - you've got the ball rolling!

CallingAllEngels · 05/01/2014 09:26

Congrats scheh

Had blood test results on Friday and we're still not allowed to ttc yet. Have to go back for another test in 2 weeks so will miss ov this month (though we had already decided to take a break this month...since everything is still ongoing I feel like I haven't had a chance to deal with the mc emotionally).

How is everyone? DS is full of beans. Raring to get outside (just waiting for DH to get his backside out of bed).

yy to starting to feel old pen. Was my birthday last week as well, so NY is always the timewhen my bones start to creak and I frantically go and buy eye cream!

TwosaCrowd · 05/01/2014 16:50

Thanks. I've namechanged in case anyone IRL recognises me as obviously we've got to keep it quiet for another 8 weeks - which seems like an age away!

Feeling very nervous after what happened last time. I am on meds which are keeping me stable atm, and I don't really want to stop taking them, although there is a risk to the baby being on them. Nothing long term developmentally as far as I can tell, but they can lengthen labour, and baby may be born with withdrawal symptoms so need special care. I've also decided not to breastfeed this time, so I can go back onto the meds asap. I will probably feed for the first week myself, then switch to FF. It's a big improvement that I am willing to say/do that.

Better go, C has pushed his rocking horse up to the TV cabinet and has climbed up… Hmm

strawberrypenguin · 05/01/2014 17:39

Congrats two Smile

That sucks eng hope you get the all clear soon

Good luck for the new job tomorrow duck

Has anyone else had a massive language jump? W has suddenly started talking in proper sentences (and won't shut up!) he's also pronouncing words much better and actually putting l's in words like please.

AwkwardAnnie · 05/01/2014 22:17

Hi all, Long time no speak. If I come on MN I get dragged in for hours and I'm trying to keep off the internet and do more crafty things instead.

Just had a quick catch up read. Congrats on the BFP and good luck for those who are trying/trying soon.

Christmas here was quiet. We went to BIL's on Christmas Day and I started feeling ill. I came down with flu, and I'm still ill. I'm pretty sure it's turned into a chest infection over the weekend so I'm going back to the doctor tomorrow hopefully. I've spent most of the past fortnight flaked on the settee and doing anything leaves me exhausted.

I was just coming on to see how many are in beds rather than cots now, but S has woke up... so I'm off to sort him instead....

TallulahPumpkin · 05/01/2014 22:20

Engles take a bit of time whilst you are able.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and New Year.

Three? Really? Wow.

Seb is putting sentences together, not huge ones though. He's also discovered 'locklot buttons' over Christmas, and wanted some for breakfast! Smile Oops.

He got a tea-set for Christmas and loves serving tea and cake for everyone. He also got some play food so we often have carrot, apple or mushroom 'tea'!

strawberrypenguin · 06/01/2014 19:30

We just had a 10 second power cut while W was in the bath, thought he would freak I can hear him upstairs demanding 'again, again' Grin

strawberrypenguin · 06/01/2014 19:33

Meant to ask how did the first day go duck? Hope it was good

CallingAllEngels · 06/01/2014 20:13

Grin strawb

We don't have a proper bath, only the baby bath which M only just fits into because he's so huge and everytime he comes into the bathroom with me he sits in and announces "M in bath!"

I also have to turn the mirror light on when I go into the bathroom because he can reach the light switch (we have a few steps down into our bathroom) and turn it off but not on.

M's in abed annie though he doesn't stay there for most of the night

AwkwardAnnie · 06/01/2014 20:53

Hello again.

As perfectly demonstrated last night. S wakes at some point most nights still, and we end up sleeping on the settee as it's the only place he'll settle. I'm thinking if I get him in a bed then I can just get in bed with him, then sneak back to my own bed once he's asleep. Taking him downstairs wakes him up fully and he starts demanding "apple" and "dink" also boob but I resist that unless he's really screaming, I only feed him to sleep now.
DD is desperate to have a high sleeper, so it would make her happy too.
I just need to buy some cot sides (and decide on a high sleeper)

S is also obsessed with lights, and we have to find some lights to turn off before bedtime or he had a paddy. He hasn't yet worked out that if he climbed on the back of the settee (which he regularly does, it's a low chesterfield) then he'd be able to turn the living room lights on and off to his heart's content... until a fuse blew.

S has also discovered "chocchoc" over Christmas and was demanding it for breakfast, he's particularly fond of ferrero roches, but DH got 4 boxes so there's plenty to share.

TallulahPumpkin · 06/01/2014 21:43

Straw that's so funny.

Annie How long before he works that one out Smile. Seb loves turning lights on and off too. Luckily he can't reach any, but one of his favourite things is to be held up so he can turn them on and off, especially dimmer switches! How are you feeling now? Seb still in a cot here. He's staying in there until he can climb out or hits both ends!

Seb is picking up so much stuff. I didn't realise that I tend to say 'How about...?' so much. When deciding what to read or what to eat Seb goes "Urrrrrmm, ow bout......." whilst having a rummage. It's so sweet.

Mummy how did today go?

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 07/01/2014 20:03

Hello ladies, thank for all well wishes. Today was very good, but of a shock being back at work after 6 months 'off' but I'm sure I'll soon get into swing of it. I just need to be super organised as they days I work are the same days as toddler group and I don't want to start missing it. So my plans is to be out the house by 9.15am with everything we both need for the full day. Toddlers is on till 11.30am then we will just go straight to my mums as she's closer to toddlers and my work! Would be to pushed for time to go home, have lunch then drop S off and be at work for 2pm. She has almost dropped her nap now so it means that as soon as we are home at night she's straight into bed. I had dinner at my mums tonight and usually ill bath her and put into pjs there so when we get in I don't need to start with all that.

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 07/01/2014 20:07

Hit send to soon!!!!

Annie, S has been in a bed since the summer only as a friend was getting rid of a toddler bed and it was too good to pass up. She sleeps well in it, better than I expected really. I started off using a toddler duvet that was fine through summer but the past few months I've been using a full size single duvet but turned it so it's over her bed long ways. The width of it is perfect length and I can then tuck each end right under her bed to stop her kicking it off in the night. I'm sure that was what was causing the night wakes as she was cold.

How is everyone else? How are the new mummy's getting on?! Grin

CheshireDing · 08/01/2014 10:21

Happy New Year everyone :)

Tallulah the Kissing Technique I read about on here is basically that once they are in bed you say to them "Lay there quietly I will come back in 1 minute to give you a kiss" (then you come back in 2 mins, then 3 mins etc up to 5 mins). With P I now sit on the landing and say to her "if you get in to bed I will come in and give you a kiss/rub your back etc in 2 mins". Excluding 3 nights out of the last 3-ish weeks we have been doing it she has just got in bed and waited, it's bloody amazing ! (prev spent about an hour arguing and screeching every night). I try to keep it vague and just say 2 mins as a vague thing as she doesn't understand the length of time etc. I usually only have to go back in 1 other time and it can be for a kiss/move duvet up etc, or she might want DH to go in instead after "2 mins". Seems to be working much better so far and I don't have to sneak/crawl out of her room because I stay on the landing now.

Congratulations Twosa, that's was quick ! Wink

MrsH how's the new house, did L like Baby Annabelle? P got Baby Emily off Father Christmas and is obsessed with her ! P was also very confused about how Father Christmas put new pi's wrapped up on her bed on Christmas Eve (when she put those specific one's on she says "from Father Christmas, how?") Grin

Pene P LOVES M and is constantly kissing and wanting to cuddle him and if he cries "M is crying", "M is okay now" etc. Not sure if it will last when he wants her toys though.

Annie P has been in a bed for good while now and we too have issues with Chocolate now after Christmas and she wants it for breakfast :(

Glad work going okay Mummy

Fx for you Engels ttc when you are ready.

How's the bump Killa ?

M is a MONSTER baby, he was 7lb 1.5 oz when born 6 weeks go and is now 11lb (fat git), now wonder the car seat weighs a ton with him in it! He sleeps lots too which is so different to P and at least I can get some stuff done at home. I feel so awful recently though and feel like I am shouting at P all the time, if she doesn't get out and doing stuff every day (and nursery was closed over Christmas) she starts climbing the furniture and getting in trouble and I am not a very patient person. I felt so upset yesterday for shouting at her I was crying and she came and asked me if I was alright and gave me a hug (which then made me feel even more guilty). She is at nursery today and at least dancing/singing classes etc start again this week for the days she is off < awful crap Mother emoticon > :(

TallulahPumpkin · 09/01/2014 21:52

Cheshire Ah, that makes sense.

Forgot to mention the other day, a funny/awful story. DH was trying to shift Seb upstairs to his bath. From upstairs I saw Seb by the stair gate and heard a little voice say what I thought was 'Bollocks'. A bit shocked, I said 'What did you say?', so Seb repeated 'Bollocks'. We both told him off but as he was coming up the stairs with dh he kept saying, 'bollocks, bollocks, bollocks' all the way up. I had to run into our room so he wouldn't see me laughing. I could hear dh giggling as well as he tried to tell Seb off. I can only assume he picked it up from one of the older kids at the childminder. He also repeated dh say 'Shit' the other day Blush.

TallulahPumpkin · 14/01/2014 22:19

Did I break the thread? Hope you weren't all too shocked at my toddler's foul language, lol.

strawberrypenguin · 15/01/2014 06:36

Grin tallulah it wasn't that bad!

W had started waking up at 6 again after months of waking at 7. I'm not used to it anymore and I'm pretty sure he needs the extra hour because he's been grumpier than normal but he won't go back to sleep at that time in the morning. We're snuggled on the sofa with Abney and Teal at the moment!

PenelopeLane · 15/01/2014 08:55

I have been meaning to post for days but haven't managed to complete a sentence yet! How is everyone? Grin at S's swearing although is a reminder to me not to swear around A or say things I don't want him repeating.

Cheshire I tried the kissing technique and it worked! Thanks!

Duck how's settling into the job going?

I'm good, probably helped by the giant bowl of icecream sitting in front of me Grin It's been a tough evening with L being super windy and crying a lot. People say it's supposed to clear at 12 weeks so feeling a little hard done by her wind is still here well past that, and wondering if it's worth going to the gp again. Although am glad I didn't know 3 months ago she'd still be windy now, once when she was about 3 weeks old someone said it would clear by 12 weeks and I almost threw something at them as hated the idea it could stick around for even that long. I've looked at my diet etc but nothing seems to help, and the 2 GPs I saw earlier pretty much said there's nothing to be done about it.

That aside things are good though, settling A into his new creche and he loves it. It's almost remarkable - the old creche was lovely and I thought he was happy there but he's so much easier to drop off now. I don't know if it
s the novelty, or that he was under stimulated there (it was only for under 2's and they'd let him stay a few months due to L being born as he turned 2)

MrsHende · 16/01/2014 19:55

Tallulah, your sweary story made me laugh! At Christmas L was talking to my sister's boyfriend when he started laughing at something she'd said, we asked her to say it again and, clear as day, out she came with "sweaty cock". She then repeated it, trying to get her meaning across by saying it loudly, then whispering, then as a question "sweaty cock?". We had tears pouring down our faces with compressed laughter. We have no idea at all what she was saying but it was something to do with the measuring tape she was playing with!!

We're having constipation problems at the moment, poor wee lamb has only had 4 poos since the middle of December. She's on lactulose and senna at the highest doses. However, today she did a poo at nursery, happy days!

Hope everyone is well, we're loving the new house, the space feels so luxurious!

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 16/01/2014 20:58

All these toddlers with funny words!!! Grin. It really shows that they hear everything! I remember when I was about 4 I said 'oh fuck' and my mum and dad just looking at me! No idea where I heard it or why I said it!

Pen, my friends dd struggled with wind until about 4 months. Think it was that she was getting far more foremilk and not enough hind. Something along those lines!! Hope it settles soon!

Job going well thanks. I'm enjoying my afternoons back in the work world and S is having fun with my mum and dad. She's completely dropped her nap now so is in bed as soon as we get home at 7.
We also started potty training on Monday and so far so good! We got the toilet insert seats and I don't think she looked comfy using potty, so it's became a big novelty and seems to be working. She hadn't until today managed a poo on the toilet, think she was scared to try and last night waited till I put her night nappy on but she done it today with my mum.

MrsH, I always ment to ask you, did the HV ever say anything else about her weight?! I was noticing in S book that she hasn't gained any weight in 7 months. I might try get to the clinic soon to speak with HV to see if it's anything to worry about. She still eats plenty and has tons of energy so I'm sure all fine!!! Grin

OP posts:
TallulahPumpkin · 16/01/2014 21:29

Pene Mmmm, ice cream.... Can't help on the wind situation I'm afraid. Other than perhaps eat more ice cream!

MrsH lol at sweaty cock!

We're the opposite with poos (tmi alert!).

Seb is doing loads (6 the other day) and they are really yucky. Is it teething time again? He seems happy otherwise so I'm not too concerned. So glad we've not done potty training yet, would not have to deal with that!

He's got a bit of a thing about spiders at the moment, and being scared (not sure if he's scared of the spiders or something else). Sad

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 16/01/2014 22:08

Tallulah, very yucky ones here! How many teeth does seb have? S has all bar 1 bottom one and still to get big back molars. She just has this random gap in her mouth Grin
