Have to pop in and make my appt and pick up bloods form today but prob will be after Christmas, though we did a bit of sneaky dtd last week without protection as we were both so sure it would be 0 by now, so may get a telling off and a bfp at my next appt (but that's a long shot). It's 2 months ago now Sad

Poos S Duck. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this winter will be better. This time last year I was just finishing my 2nd bout of flu but we've been fairly lucky so far.

Pen that's the type of thing I've only ever heard about on MN! Think I would be a bit Angry as well!

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 16/12/2013 09:03

Shock At pen. The nerve of some people!!! Makes my blood boil!

We are off to the doctor this morning. She's really wheezy in between coughing fits so I just want them to check her chest is clear. She's not eating or drinking much either Sad

Fingers crossed Engels, you did have it bad last year. S was just getting over D&V this time last year. I'm hoping with a week and 1/2 before Xmas, she will hopefully be over the worst of it by then

CallingAllEngels · 16/12/2013 10:54

Oops, that should say POOR S not poos S! I always think it's better to be safe than sorry. M had quite a few dr appts last winter because he was wheezing so much and the cough was on his chest (only turned out to be chest infection once!)

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 16/12/2013 12:27

Chest and lungs all clear thankfully but he says she in for a rough few weeks Sad. That's my other neighbour/friend text to say that her dd now has the pox so it's likely S is next. I'm on spot watch!!! She's all snuggled up on the couch watching peppa. My mums coming to get her for a few hours cause I have studying to do Confused

Thanks Duck, makes sense that the novelty might wear off. I think I might get her some more stickers and do another sticker poster to make it more exciting again. We do still dance around when she does a wee on the toilet though Grin.

Engels P just had leggings and pull ups for a month so they were easy and quick for her to pull down, nursery put her on the potty every 15 mins or so and gave her a sticker every time she did something on the potty and we just copied the same in the evenings and weekends (so nursery coped for most of the hard work) Grin

We made a big exciting thing out of going and buying knickers and pull ups with characters on she was interested in too. Sorry about the HCG levels too Engels :( Maybe you are already pregnant now after your sneaky one ! :)

Pene hope you gave her the "look". Did you decide what to do about nursery?

Day 4 of my new way of trying to get P in bed (as desperate for a none screaming bedtime) is working well, well impressed with the Kissing Technique which I found on MN.

P saw Father Christmas at the weekend then said "I don't like Father Christmas, I asked Father Christmas for dolly" Hmm fickle child !

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 16/12/2013 23:36

Yes, I think it also starts to slip our minds to be asking so frequently as well but sounds like she's doing great!! What a relief to only be changing one tiny nappy! We didn't get round to trying on Sunday as she was quite unwell. Will wait till after new year now.

So far still no spots. She fallen asleep in her own bed thankfully. I've got a really awful headache and need sleep tonight. It's been a hellish past few weeks for sleep, don't think she's slept right through for almost 2 weeks now and it's proper caught up with me Confused

Duck how's S doing?

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 18/12/2013 21:10

She's not too bad today killa. Had a good sleep last night with only one wake up at 3am then slept with me till 7.30am. It was much needed!!

Another friends dc got the pox now. I'll be very surprised if she escapes it now.. Confused

OP posts:
strawberrypenguin · 19/12/2013 19:43

Hope she doesn't get it over Christmas duck horrible though the pox is its probably better for her to get it now and get it done (not suggesting you expose her to it on purpose just if she does get it at least she had it then)

W has his Christmas party at nursery tomorrow and when we picked him up today they mentioned Christmas dress up. We have no Christmas dress up clothes for him at all not even a Santa hat! I'm going to look like a mean mummy aren't I! Trouble is all the Xmas jumpers in the shop won't go over his head.

Took W to see a Christmas theatre show at my work yesterday and he loved it! Sat for the whole hour and watched, I was really impressed I thought I'd end up having to take him out.

TallulahPumpkin · 21/12/2013 20:58

Congrats Ips Thanks.

Engles I loved the story about waking up to a sleeping (I presume) toddler in the bed!

We're not starting potty training until we get back from NZ - don't fancy 4 12 hour flights with no nappies! Besides he loves sitting on his potty and knows what the toilet is for but I just don't think he's ready yet.

Mummy hope S didn't get the pox. What's the incubation period?

Chesh what's the kissing technique?

All my plans for lovely crafty Christmassy things with Seb have gone to pot since I came down with tonsillitis. I struggled to get into work all week as I was convinced it was just the start of a cold and finally called in sick on Friday (missing the work xmas lunch - £22 down the drain) and doc confirmed it is tonsillitis. Funny thing is only started to feel ill once I knew what it was! I had great plans to make Christmas cards, a hand-print christmas tree and decopatch decorations with Seb (a new craft shop has just opened in town and I am desperate to have a go!). Oh well. I guess they will go away until next year. I might get the cards done.

Seb's really coming on with his letters. He knows:
A, B, C, D, E, F (sometimes), G (sometimes), H, I, J (a recent addition), K, L, M, O, P, Q, R, S, T, W, X, Y, Z Xmas Smile.
We've linked some to people he knows (M for Mummy etc) but some are completely random.

TallulahPumpkin · 21/12/2013 20:58

Oo, Straw how did it go with the Christmas dress up? Did you find W anything to wear?

strawberrypenguin · 22/12/2013 19:57

Wow tallulah that's great going on S's letters we're no where near that! I sent W in wearing red and green Smile it was the best I could do! He refused to see Santa too, said he was 'loud and scary' bless him. He still got a present though and his best friend stayed with him and didn't go in either!

MrsHende · 22/12/2013 20:24

Massive congratulations Ips, hope all is well!

I would like to nominate myself for the terrible mother of the year award please. L has an infected finger that came up yesterday evening. We took her to the chemist today to get some Savlon and asked the pharmacist to have a wee look. She referred us to OOH. So, we went in with a sore finger and came out with 6 different prescriptions!!!! I mentioned a sore nose, turns out that's infected too. She had a bit of a cough while in the surgery so the doctor had a listen to her chest and she's got a chest infection and a wheeze ('we won't call it asthma yet'). So, two oral antibiotics, a cream antibiotic, steroids, a dressing and paracetamol.

Poor wee lamb, although in my defence she is running around and singing as normal - to the extent that the doctor was laughing at her and saying 'Hey, you're meant to be ill!'.

Please wish us luck with the medicines, one ab to be given 3 times a day, the other 4 times a day, the steroid is a soluble tablet which she takes 4 of every morning and cream on 4 times a day. Some with food, some on an empty stomach...I may need a timetable! And the antibiotics are both 2 week courses.

Anyway! What is Santa bringing all our babies? L is getting My First Baby Annabelle and a second hand (free!) trampoline.

strawberrypenguin · 24/12/2013 14:29

Blimey mrsH it's amazing how kids just keep going isn't it! Hope L is better soon.

It finally happened! After two years and two months W pooed in the bath today!

KillashandraRee · 24/12/2013 21:48

MrsH hope L is better for Christmas.

E has redecorated his bedroom in poo twice in three days Shock....would much rather a poo in the bath at the moment! Now on backwards nappies/ onsies attack to stop access....

We're giving E a micro scooter very exciting just tried to wrap it.

Hope you all have a very merry Christmas with our two year olds xxxx

CallingAllEngels · 24/12/2013 22:10

Killa that made me laugh and made me feel better!

Just made it into Dover before they closed the port yesterday. Was very glad to be tucked up in bed last night.

Merry Christmas everyone!

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 24/12/2013 22:21

Just popping in to wish everyone a very merry christmas! Hope you all have a lovely day, I can't wait Grin xx

strawberrypenguin · 24/12/2013 22:24

Merry Christmas Grin Santa (otherwise known as the combined efforts of both grandma's) has most certainly been here! The tree looks amazing can't wait for W to see it in the morning.

ArtemisiaofCaria · 26/12/2013 18:44

Hope everyone has had a good christmas. xx

CallingAllEngels · 27/12/2013 18:37

Had a lovely Christmas in the UK. Now back home surrounded by mounds of presents and bags of washing.

M was so funny on Christmas day. When he saw our stockings he went "Ooooooooh!" just like he does when he sees something really yummy. But on Boxing Day he started crying and wailing "presents!" when he saw there were no stockings at the end of the bed!

He is in love with the talking Thomas toy he got from my auntie (though we had to 'lose' it for the trip home...don't think we could have dealt with it in the car for 3 hours!)

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 28/12/2013 21:57

Glad you had lovely time in uk engels!
Can't believe that's Xmas over for another year!!! Just think what it will be like next time around when we will have 3 year olds Shock

S had a great time and received so many lovely gifts. Sorted out her room the other day to make space for it all!!

Things all good with us. I start my new job a week on Monday and really looking forward to it. Feels like forever since I was working. I feel bad for saying it, but I'm looking forward to a few hours away from S Blush and doing my own thing.

Things re her dad are still going ok. He came over on Monday with gifts for her which went down well. His parents gave her some things too so it's made me feel like introducing them to her is the next step.. Perhaps in the next few months it's something I'll consider. We are talking every day and I feel like I'm reconnecting with him all over again. I don't honestly know what to make of the situation with 'us' (taking S out of it). Sometimes I get the impression that he wants more from things and other times I don't. It messes with my head more than it did before he was even involved again Sad. I'm struggling to keep our talking to just being about S. It's hard!!!

Hope everyone had a good Christmas and hope you all have a happy new year! 2014 starts for me in 3.5 hours and I am just hanging at my ILs as part of our yearly trip to see them so no big festive events here, although it is a lovely summer evening and A is very tired after a trip to the beach.

Duck that must be so confusing! And there is nothing to stop you talk like friends I suppose, but it must be hard. Being friends with exes is hard enough let alone when there are children!

I don't know if it's a sign of being old but in 2013 two friends have separated from their DHs and they have kids, it's not something that had happened in our set yet and is all very sad, especially the idea that it will happen more in the future

Cheshire we are starting A in a new nursery in the new year and will do Tue, Wed, Thurs as short days. How are things with M, has P taken it ok? A still ignores the baby

engels Did you go to Fiji during your trip?Or is it Killa? We're thinking of going and looking for recommendations

MrsHende · 01/01/2014 09:19

Happy New Year everyone! Hope you all had a good night and had fun whether you were partying hard or in bed by 11pm like I was!

I hope 2014 brings you all happiness and health. Xx

strawberrypenguin · 01/01/2014 12:22

Happy New Year Smile hope 2014 is good to us all!

We took all the Christmas decorations down yesterday and W keeps randomly looking about and saying 'Christmas down' is a sad voice. He really liked all the lights!

Started my new year having an argument with our neighbour at 1.30 in the morning when they had been getting louder all night and had ignored DH's polite request to turn things down 10 mins before - I was not polite!

MummyDuckAndDuckling · 01/01/2014 15:03

Happy 2014 everyone!!!

(Our babies turn 3 this year...)
Just wanted to get that in Grin
