GT that's the sort of volume I was expressing in the first few days it'll increase massively over the next few weeks as A builds your supply by being at your breast. Just don't think of discreet individual feeds right now - he might feed all afternoon if your supply needs building. Also don't compare the amounts with FF - I know it's hard but BM is much more calorie and nutrient dense. You're doing amazingly x

Sophiathesnowfairy · 01/10/2013 06:42

gt that seems like loads to me I hardly ever got anything when expressing you are doing brilliantly.

Nursery was much nicer than expected so we are starting settling in today with a view to them going one day a week as soon as possible. This can be going for a long walk on the beach day my cleaning day or running around doing errands day. The rooms were big, bright and airy, loads of space and kids work everywhere, there own cosy kitchen with two women busying away making beef stew! Just like home!

I also tried a new aerobics class last night. In a barn behind someone's house! It was an absolute killer. Seemed to be very boxing based, then the toughest circuits ever. But a well spent hour I think!

Kirrin I would feel shouty too if someone weed on my sofa. A couple of time this week DS1 has pooed in his pjama pants, which have been dry for months. I think this is just laziness. I try not to act cross and say really firmly "we do not poo in pants, the poo goes in the toilet." Then really kindly. "Come on let's clean you up" Since then as soon as weget his pjs on and pj pants I ask him where the poo goes, just to remind him and he says "in the toilet." So you could say kindly, when she goes on the sofa, or if there is a particular time it happens, " DD1, remember the wee wee goes in the toilet, not on the sofa' do you need one now?"

Might be talking a load of shite but worth a go.

Must give O some breaks, his is patiently sorting through all the books on the toy shelf!

BigPigLittlePig · 01/10/2013 06:50

Quiet night here - hope that means all were sleeping?

GT glad you're going to get spoiled rotten by your mum, sounds like an ideal plan. Is H going too ?

Sophia nursery sounds like a lovely place, hope the boys settle quickly.

Kirrin nightmare re: sofa.

Have been up since 5.30 Envy thanks to mahoosive leaky, retch-worthy poonami. F is now full of snot and cold. Taking the piss slightly now - illness can just do one already, it's not even winter yet.

Lily311 · 01/10/2013 06:59

5.45 start here. I did as sophia suggested and gave her half a bottle in the afternoon. She was awful afterwards as she wanted more. She drained the bottle in the evening and slept 15 min longer. I hope she will be better today.

gt I so wish to have a newborn. You are doing amazingly well. O was jaundiced as well p, she slept in a Moses basket by the window for a week. Oh, and I sat on hot water bottle for weeks.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 01/10/2013 07:05

Hooray lily. O loves that bottle too but I am strict about it. nanny tried to give him more the other day but he would only cut it back at bedtime and end up with the same amount of milk anyway. So I nicely put my foot down.

Is interesting windy weather here. Love it. And the wind turbine goes up on Wed apparently.

PetiteRaleuse · 01/10/2013 07:20

gt 3oz a feed at that age and weight would be a lot. Both LO and DD1 had one to two oz of milk a feed for a couple of weeks at least. In fact. I remember when lo went to hospital at one month old exactly I had only just that weekend started giving her 3oz feeds, and was told, as she wasn.t well, to go back to 2oz more often. They really don.t need much milk.

PetiteRaleuse · 01/10/2013 07:22

Morning quiche. New day, new opinions. I have a good reason not to completely trust the one I got yesterday, so will get two more today. If they all add up to the same thing then i will do plan B: waiting and seeing.

fruitpastilles · 01/10/2013 08:44

Yay for the thesis finally being finished pass I bet you're as glad as dh if not more Grin how is P this morning?

Oh dear kirrin wee on the sofa doesn't sound great. I'm not looking forward to things like that.

Nursery sounds lovely sophia I haven't had stew for ages, might get dp to do one next week, his is always so much nicer than mine.

How is F this morning pig ? Is she still snotty? It's just one thing after another for the poor babies isn't it.

pr I really really hope you are told different this time! I have everything crossed!

I've probably missed loads of people out, for which I'm sorry.
Brew And Thanks to those needing them.

S was snuffling all nigh last night and has woken up full of snot. It's her first proper cold, she has been snuffly before and what I would have thought was a cold, but clearly not looking at her today. She's ok in herself though at the moment, she just doesn't like me wiping her nose and full on screams every time, but I'm guessing that's normal.

PurplePidjin · 01/10/2013 08:45

GT i wouldn't be expressing at all at this stage, it'll mess with your supply.

R self settled at 4:40, slept till 6:15. I didn't

fruitpastilles · 01/10/2013 08:45

Ha my brain definitely isn't working as I've read pigs post so know that F is full of a cold and then asked how she is BlushBlushBlush

Elizadoesdolittle · 01/10/2013 09:19

pass yay for finished thesis and kirrin nice one on the exams.

Re the sofa thing, DD1 went through something similar a couple of months a go. Not wetting the sofa but generally wetting herself for no reason at all. I put it down to just "one of those things" and she stopped as soon as she started. I think it was jut a laziness thing. Sorry, not much help but just wanted to let you know it is quite a common thing. Very annoying though!

Talking of Chinese takeaway we get it far too often. Probably every other week Blush I love it. But my sister texted me this morning to say my favourite Chinese is being boarded up. Gutted. She reckoned that they couldn't afford the bills since we stopped going there so often and drinking copious amounts of rose!

Lily311 · 01/10/2013 10:01

Fuck, fuck, fuck, she is standing unaided!

YellowWellies · 01/10/2013 10:04

Pass I hope he's having a Thesis to Pieces party (a tradition in Oxford after a DPhil when you destroy a copy in an elaborate way!).

PR that would be my plan. Good luck x

Where's VQ? am missing her!

Pikz · 01/10/2013 10:22

Feeling a bit lost. L been at nursery since 9am and although I have a million things to do and could be doing am wandering about in a daze!

He has gone down for a nap apparently and they are going to try him with lunch. Such progress from 2 weeks ago when he lasted 10 minutes!

PetiteRaleuse · 01/10/2013 11:14

OK well it looks like there is nothing I can do now other than sit and wait and hope. But I.m feeling ok about that. In fact I am quite positive. A tad annoyed that I spent so much time on everything Friday and Monday, but that's ok, at least I have written everything down, I shouldn't see it as a waste of time.

Pikz · 01/10/2013 11:27

Sometimes PR writing it all down is as therapeutic as action because it takes away the whirring in your head.

PetiteRaleuse · 01/10/2013 12:24

Yes, writing it down was not therapeutic in itself but having it written down to read back is actually good. It means I am not mad, or imagining anything (there was so much more than the bits and pieces I put on fb) which is good enough for me. Because as time goes on you kind of start to think you might have been imagining it.

But I definitely am not, and that is reassuring iyswim. So I was a bit pissed off yesterday but am now on plan B, working out plan C, and, whatever happens, I have proved my point.

That is great news re nursery pikz I thought we would never get there with LO but we did.

The first of lo's pressies that I ordered on sunday have arrived. Expecting the other today. And got a free teddy at the pharmacist this morning, so that will be another one.

Donnadoon · 01/10/2013 12:26

Hello ...marking place, again
lurrrrve beef stew
PR I am annoyed for you.......RAAAAAHHHHH!!!!(No advice sorry)

PetiteRaleuse · 01/10/2013 12:26

Ooooh I have my first ever parents' evening on Monday. Yes, nursery do parents' evenings. Children not allowed. So not sure how that is going to work out. I think I will go alone. Or just not go and get a another bollocking by the headmistress.

Donnadoon · 01/10/2013 12:27

Cross post.....Thats the spirit Wink

Lily311 · 01/10/2013 13:15

Question: I've never used wipes on O. I have reusable wipes and at the beginning I used cotton pads. So today I used pampers sensitive and she reacted to it. Any suggestions what I should try? She is all red on bum and face where the wipe touched her. Our trip to the uk is looming and I will need to use wipes occasionally (though planning using cotton pads most of the time).

ChasingDaisy · 01/10/2013 13:19

Pennie as O is half Chinese it will be interesting to see if he is an early or late walker. As you say, I'm sure it is more cultural rather than anything genetic but will be interesting to see.

Pikz · 01/10/2013 13:44

Lily do they have waterwipes there? I find them milder as are huggies pure.
