Oh my Vag, I just laughed so hard at 'sexual intercourse'. Hilarious!

I really need to potty train dd2 but I'm hoping she'll decide she is ready. Dd1 was a dream but was 2yrs 10 months so quite late by many peoples standards n.b. My mother and MIL!

DeidreBarlow · 11/10/2013 12:43

Nolda congratulations on the job! Wonderful news

Lady hope you and DP have made up after your row.

Rubes glad the exams almost finished.

Sorry can't say much more I've got a really bad headache. It actually woke me up in the night. I've taken paracetamol and ibuprofen and it just won't shift! This phone is hurting my eyes now. Hopefully back later x

Top news on the job, Nolda Grin. V pleased for you. Hopefully it will lead to something more permanent and keep your CV up to date. People much prefer giving jobs to those already in them, as I discovered!

Interesting chat on the bed wetting front. T is v much still in pull-ups and I doubt will be dry for some time. He vacillates between caring about it and not, but there's just no point in pushing it as he just wouldn't make it through. As it is, he often wets the bed while still wearing a pull up, because I suspect he has a rummage around before he goes to sleep and I sometimes forget to go and check the johnson situation before I go to bed.

Have indulged in the penis beaker thread as I'm ill again. Was worried it was whooping cough again, despite only having had it earlier this year - I have a real croupy cough and there was an outbreak at work. I don't think it is, but I do have a very bad, painful cough and feel terrible anyway, so was off sick again.

I feel awful about it - I've been off sick more times since I started this job than in the entire length of any other one, and i'm still in my probation period. I don't want my bosses to think I'm a malingerer, but I've just been really knocked down in the last month. I think it's probably a combination of kinds viruses, huge offices with bad air circulation, and psychological factors. I really don't like my job, much as my team are nice, and I can't help but think my subconscious is sending me a very strong message! Thanks to Vag for her facebook advice. It's like having your own personal physician!

Get well soon, Deids. I hope it's not a bad virus. Do you have Solpadeine? I find the codeine element helps when ibuprofen and paracetamol won't touch it.

I hope your argument is, if not resolved, not causing you too much ongoing stress, Lady. And I wanted to comment on your preschool activities a bit. THat must be very exhausting. I know they might struggle if you didn't do as much as you did, but it's important to fit in other bits that enhance your life, like your writing. Is there a way to delegate things a bit, rope in some others?

Arti, good luck with the weaning! Does it feel like groundhog day with a lot of the baby milestones, or is it different each time? And do things automatically feel different because DS is a boy?

We're not training B yet, Hons, and he's nearly 3! T was older than 3 when we did it, so your DM and MIL would be horrified!

Vagolajahooli · 11/10/2013 17:36

Lady I think you are amazing doing the supervision but really it is not a long term solution. Are you covered by the nursery if something happens to the child in your care? Have you had a CRB check (obviously I'm not questioning your ability to do the job, more your liability). This child needs to be statemented and a plan put in place. The statement will ensure that the nursery are given the resources to hire a staff member to be with the child. You are doing an admirable job but it is a stop gap and does not address the fact that the nursery is not currently adequately staffed to accept a child with such needs. Resources will be available to support the child and the nursery should apply for these.

Hons I've never understood the competitive toilet training thing. Bizarre.

Beans DS1 used tp flood his extra absorbant pull ups but by the time he was 5.5years he was only wetting a couple if times a week as long as we lifted him so we stopped the nappies then. I think it has only been the last year or so that we have stopped lifting him and he doesn't wet.

beans37 · 11/10/2013 17:41

My nephew made it to 10 before he was dry at night, so there really is no hurry!

Phewf. What a long day. And I keep screaming at poor DD2, who is really feeling the difference with DD3 being here. Ad because she is here more often. She fiddles with everything and I end up shouting at her and I know I shouldn't. Feel terrible. But am telling her I love her and am proud of her between shouting! God, I feel terrible. I'd just really love to spend a bit of time with her without DD3 being around. Might try to persuade DH to take the other 2 for a walk and I'll Kay with DD2 for a bit. GUILT.

Vagolajahooli · 11/10/2013 18:09

Accidentally posted before I had finished.

Rubes glad you like my 'strayen language.

Deids I'm with Spot get some codeine in yer.

Arti I read your post wrong and thought you said DS was sucking your toes, thought it sounded cute though a little unhygienic. Also I hope your sofa is ok. I started laughing when I read that and told DH. He said it seems obvious now that they meant IVF or naturally but at the time we were baffled. We spent quite some time discussing how we should say "we did the sex". But I was holding the form and with baby brain esp first baby brain I didn't look across and see the options.

Well done Nolda. I love your "off the streets" comment. I'm actually now a member of the working mums club. I agreed to do a lunchtime supervision twice a month for DS2's class and I found out, I actually get paid. €5 for half an hour of standing and dredging out every dutch word I know to keep the little petals happy while their teacher has lunch. Ds2 is very sweet and acts as my interpreter when I can't understand them, which is pretty much all the time. Kids speak very fast. Unfortunately while I was sorting out an issue in the reading corner one of the new kids who is a bit tired and findjng long days a bit stressful got a hold of pair of scissors and cut her own hair. Oops.

Vagolajahooli · 11/10/2013 18:16

Crikey that took me ages to write and send that post, I was doing it while cooking almond & banana pancakes for the boys pudding (a snacking on a couple myself.

Poor you Beans. Can you get her to help you a little with DD3, maybe get things for you while you feed her, or hand you the wipes while you change her nappy? if I've learnt anything in this last week it's that children having time to themselves and sorting themselves out is a good thing. She'll be apples. (You like that one Rubes).

JamInMyWellies · 11/10/2013 23:01

Two things girls.

1 - it's ruddy hard to try shop via text message and FaceTime when your DH is in your favourite US store.

2 - the bedside table of a pregnant person has huge amounts of gaviscon, prepH on it. 9wks to go.

beans37 · 12/10/2013 04:50

Wow, Jam. 9 weeks is really nothing... Week after next for re-meet in BS?

Clever DD3 just woken for feed. Love her.

Guessing 'apples' means 'fine' Vag??

Vagolajahooli · 12/10/2013 07:22

Hey Beans, you were up at what time? 4:50 it says on my thread here. Did you get much sleep at all last night?

9 weeks feels like an age with night time indigestion. I remember begging a GP for a strong prescribed anti-reflux drug with DS2 & he looked at me like I was a wimp and said "you've only got two weeks to go, just put up with it, it's only a bit of indigestion". I could have thumped him.

Vagolajahooli · 12/10/2013 07:24

Oops just read that is was DD3 just waking for her feed. So has the growth spurt feeding settled down.

beans37 · 12/10/2013 08:26

Yes, I think so, Vag. Poof, she has just done a loud, stinking fart. Yuck!

Vagolajahooli · 12/10/2013 08:44

Oh she can't smell worse than I did last night. Not sure why but I had the smelliest farts. Poor DH, talk about a dutch oven.

Rubena · 12/10/2013 09:53

Can't believe it's only 9 weeks Jam!

Yes loving the Straya talk Vag - keep it up! How are the move plans / budget going? We've written off the 12 month Syd thing despite not being the only candidate - too many cons for us. In fact he's even been offered the local fellowship interview and turned it down, but it's too long winded
to explain really. He's better off staying at the London job for now apparently.

Deids how are you and the foot?

Nolda good news on the job.

Nice to see you round here Spot!

Lady hope it's feeling easier - what's the number 3 latest?

I missed a great deal and have tried to catch up but can't seem to find bits that you are all talking about. Saw the penis thread briefly and nearly wretched. Not sure what about TT talk?

Ooh yes, love a bit of codeine Grin

Someone was asking about dh and Home & Away - when I met him I hadn't seen the show in about 15 years! Now I'm hooked again - he's mad for it - just pisses himself laughing at the things they say, I must have been a proper sideshow for him when we met! Tis funny how they walk along the beach constantly as it seems to lead to everywhere in Summer Bay! We caught up on 5 sky+-ed episodes last night - how sad we are Grin

So glad that horrid week is over. It's instant results beans (Computer exams) quite nerve wracking as tricky questions, and not good to fail. Sounds pathetic, but is a bit stressful if you never got to work much, then cram a week before like moi. It's an annual thing. 3 safety exams, one safety practical and one aviation medicine. Don't know how many if any more I'll do, as I'm still back and forth on it all.
mil left last night, and the house is almost back to normal Grin and they had various activities going on which fortunately she gets quite passionate about! They had to dress up as a book character one day so she went to hobbycraft and her and dh made him a Mr Strong outfit!

Right must go as swimming lessons and stuff

beans37 · 12/10/2013 15:00

do you think Tory could have reflux Arti? she cries so much in the day, it's almost unbearable!

beans37 · 12/10/2013 15:01

oh and she's constantly sick after feeding and clearly has terrible wind. it's miserable.

Vagolajahooli · 12/10/2013 15:34

Beans I don't know why or how it works but cranial osteopathy definitely help DS2. Would Ralph up all his milk before we went then would be fine after it and slowly got worse as the week went on until the next appointment. After 5 appointments he was fine. Not promising anything but it helped.

Other than that are you ok Beans? Really wish I was flying out of Stansted I could have come over, made you a cuppa and we could have made our way through the crumpets, English muffins and chocolate buttons I'm supposed to be taking home.

Vagolajahooli · 12/10/2013 15:36

Not being funny but would cooled peppermint tea help? I remember my midwife with DS1 suggesting it. Peppermint tablets always sort DH out when he's got trapped wind after swimming. (He gulps air like a fish when he swims).

beans37 · 12/10/2013 18:52

I am going to find a cranial osteopath. Thank you.

Vag, I'm truly gutted you're not coming through Stansted. Would have been magic to see you. But have a lovely time xxx

beans37 · 12/10/2013 18:56

PS am keeping her upright after a feed for 30mins and although she's been sick a few times, she's only cried for a little while and is fast asleep on me now during Strictly. Heaven. Girls also watching with me and having a sleepover tonight. Rather lovely.

Our 6th wedding anniversary tomorrow. My gift for DH is a pub meal and a lie in!

JamInMyWellies · 12/10/2013 19:59

Beans yes yes to meeting up for cake. This wk is mental but next is a bit quieter.

I double triple the CO. We went to one in town with DS1 I think Arti used the same one. Brilliant results. Or their is a chap in Chelmsford who is very good I am seeing his wife for some prego massage and and woo stuff she is going to start pricking me with needles soon for birthing quickly.

Rubes hurrah for end of exams.

beans37 · 12/10/2013 20:35

I'd like to find one in BS or Cambridge. will do some research.

beans37 · 12/10/2013 20:36

week after next good for me too, Jam x

Rubena · 12/10/2013 21:49

Beans hope you get some resolution. Poor u. Didn't realise. Am shattered. Ran around great Windsor park today. Dh and Kids cycled ( a lot more clearly) ds def. getting geared bike soon. He's outgrown second bike and def frustrated with no gears for hills!! Clearly his fathers son.
Shattered from slight exercise after laying dormant all week. Early morns this past week have killed me. We pub hopped home. And am now in bed Hmm

Vagolajahooli · 13/10/2013 18:42

Am back in NL, I'm sad I didn't get to see you but loving flying in and out of Southend. I left home at 7.30 am yesterday and will be home just before 8pm tonight. So quick and under €100 rtn. Think I might have more alcohol in my veins than blood at the moment though. I went straight to meet an old NCT couple from DS1 & their DS for lunch at St Katherine's dock. Ended up consuming two very yummy cocktails. Then headed down to surprise my friend for her party at 4pm in Lewisham and drank far too much champagne, white wine, red wine and gin&tonic. Have felt quite seedy all day but well worth it for the fun. Was a great night. Lots of chatting and giggling.

Rubes we had the same with DS1 his little legs were peddling for all they were worth.
