Get in DeidsBoy!

I'm a bit head woozy too so will write more tomoz as having lost the aviligy ti wrote

Rubena · 29/09/2013 06:25

Deids, a lovely little boy you've got there Smile
Had nice surprise to have a lovely friend on my flight! Vag you asked about this. 1st time in 7 years we've done a trip together!
Must sleep for a bit now, Zzzz

beans37 · 29/09/2013 08:34

Aargh. Bloody awful night, punctuated with a big row with DH just because we were so tired. Both of us weren't very nice so I can't quite bring myself to apologise and nor can he, obviously!! He did the early 7.30 shift as I've only got tmw left with him at home.

My ILs are coming for lunch. I couldn't be less in the mood to see them if I tried. Bum.

And we're back to issues with my sister and her bloody husband. All sweetness and light here!! Tough time of year as it's the anniversary of Dad's death next Sunday, so we are all a bit raw and emotional at the mo anyway.

Indith · 29/09/2013 08:52

Oh beans. Newborns and sleep deprivation are tough enough at the best of times, nothing quite like it for causing fights and general bickering x

Deids what a wonderful little boy you have raised!

Negative by the way thank goodness. No period yet. Shall leave it another week.

Arti here's hoping winter and darker mornings help for you! I think though some children just sleep less than others. Ds1 slept 13 hours a night, always has. Dd a little less though now she is at school she does. Ds2 always woke up very, very early like yours. He now sleeps until a reasonable hour in the morning but doesn't usually go to sleep until 9ish and isn't anywhere near sleeping through. Perhaps that is worth playing around with? Having a later cat nap and then a later bedtime.

I think ds2 has broken his nose Blush. He hasn't got any of the "see your GP/A&E" symptoms and he seems happy enough though. He did a lovely nose dive over the top of his toddle truck and landed nose first on the very sturdy, hard wooden farm wall. There was a lot of blood and his poor little nose is still a bit on the swollen side. He could give rudolph a run for his money is colouring.

beans37 · 29/09/2013 08:56

Ooh Indith, that's going to smart. Will you take him to see anyone? Is he ok in himself?

Indith · 29/09/2013 09:07

He is fine. NHS website says so long as no big blood clots, no crunching, not out of shape etc then you don't need to see a Dr. Daft child.

Arrtttiiieee · 29/09/2013 09:37

Morning,

Sorry for the horrid nights Beans. Was it due to wind waking her? We found sitting on a birthing ball and gently bouncing with DS on our shoulder was great for bringing up burps and stopping crying.

Yay for the negative test Indith! But poor DS2.

So DS slept from 6.30pm-3am which was great but after his 3am feed he wouldn't settle again so instead of leaving him to cry I thought I'd bring him into bed with me. He giggled, he played with my hair, he gurgled, he was awake for two hours. My conclusion is NOTHING works. Maybe you are right Indith although he naps a lot so I think he does need sleep. I've tried to reduce the naps but he gets v grumpy. And by 6.30pm he is desperate to sleep and so am I!

beans37 · 29/09/2013 18:49

Oh cripes. It is so very hard, innit? Arti, I feel your pain. But it WILL pass one day. I think I'm a lot less stressed with DD3 than I was with the other two because I know one day it'll get easier. But then, I'm only on day 11, so am also probably ina false sense of security. I fear a bad night ahead as she's been asleep almost all day!

Took DDs out for supper tonight and they ate a huge salmon fish cake each. Completely unheard of for these two. They never eat anything new. Felt very pleased.

Just done DD3 bath. I can't for the life of me remember how to do it! She hates it. Think I'll bring out our plastic bath seat tomorrow.

Will be in bed about 10mins after DDs.

beans37 · 29/09/2013 18:50

PS Arti, can you go to bed at 9, then at least if DS wakes up at 3, you've had 6 hrs sleep in a row? Then you can have a bit more of a snooze if he's up so damn early.

Indith · 29/09/2013 18:56

Typical isn't it Arti, a good run at totally the wrong times!

Dh is hellbent on getting this nightweaning and sleep thing sorted. Riding off the back of the night shifts I've not fed him at night since. Just need ot survive until the next block of shifts starting Thursday then by the time those are over it will have been a fortnight.

Interestingly, unlike last time we tried, he is so far settling better for dh and he is going back into his own bed. He even had a cuddle and settled on me with only minor complaints when I said no to milk, then I passed him back to dh as I knew he'd latch on in his sleep if I stayed like that! So fingers crossed. Still not bothering putting him to bed awake or at bedtime, we just try to catch him at first signs of being ready to drop and dh walks him round till he falls asleep. At night dh walks him round when he wakes too. Hopefully he will start sleeping better and we can move on to bedtime and resettling with a cuddle or a pat!

Dd has a collection of white bears in various styles and sizes. The smallest one is called Snow and the others have just been collectively known as Snow's family. Today dd decided to name them. One is Snow's cousin and is called Polar. The other is Snow's mummy. Dd asked me to suggest names so I gave various snowy, wintery suggestions but she declared that they were not good polar bear names. Instead she has called Snow's mummy "Gilbert". Obviously.

I really need to get it out of my head that I need to get ds2's birthday present now. I keep seeing things and wanting to snap them up, too used ot having to get the other 2 sorted by Christmas!

Honsandrevels · 29/09/2013 20:04

Beans One of the neo natal nurses got wind up by sitting dd2 up really straight with her hand under her chin, no moving or rubbing. After about 15 seconds she'd do a massive burp. Worth a go maybe.

Phew Indith, what a relief.

Deids That's lovely, well done Deidsboy.

Arti Early wakings sound awful. Have you made the room super dark? Does he have a comforter?

beans37 · 29/09/2013 20:36

Ooh, thanks Hons, will try that one later!
I love Gilbert for the mummy. V sweet.

I'd forgotten that feeling of norms filling up with milk. It's extraordinary. Tingling nips and, lo and behold, in moments, rock hard boobies!

beans37 · 29/09/2013 20:37

Norms = norks

Sorry!

Arrtttiiieee · 30/09/2013 08:09

Good morning all,

I'm pondering taking the kids to Lapland in December to do one of those find Father Christmas/see the Northern Lights/Husky sledge experiences. Anyone ever done that and if so would you recommend the company you used?

SiL has her baby tomorrow (remember she is 45 and only found out she was preggers at six months), the girls are v overexcited about having a new cousin.

Nolda · 30/09/2013 08:45

What a lovely idea, Arti. I haven't been but would love to see the northern lights. Have you seen these www.goscandinavian.com/2013/01/03/see-the-northern-lights-from-your-igloo-village-in-lapland/? Not what you have in mind this trip but they look great fun.

Vagolajahooli · 30/09/2013 08:58

Goedmorgen ladies. I have the robot vacuum going through it's paces in the living room so I'm sitting down to a cuppa after tidying from the weekends usual shenanigans. You know clearing out all the leaves, sticks, rocks and drawings the boys layed out all over the place. I have a bit of a dodgy tummy today too so feel a taking it easy day might be nice.

Arti how is DD1's nose? I am thinking it might just be local bruising and swelling and not broken. But I must warn you ds1 has been prone to nose bleeds ever since he skoncked himself on one of DHs hacking textbooks, those things are massive and only available in hardback.

You seem chipper this morning Arti, or have you just been up since 4am thinking about Santa?

Indith glad you got your preferred wee stick test, time tothink about boys getting the snip I think. I might mention it to DH. I am really feeling that I am satisfied with my two little darlings. I would have adored another but not now, I love our little unit and the boys are enough for me. I think.

DS2 has finally settled into school, he was never too bad at going into school, not like ds1, but he would always wake up most days, especially on a Monday and say he didn't want to go to school. This morning he was a bit sniffly and I asked if he was ok to go to school, would he like a day off and he looked at me, horrified. Like I was purposefully stopping him going. It has taken since last December but I think he is right into the routine of school now and has really found his place in the class. It's lovely. I would like to keep him off school the occasional monday before he is 5 when school becomes mandatory.

Vagolajahooli · 30/09/2013 09:05

Oops sorry Indith it was your DS2 with the nose. How is it this morning?

Was it Hons talking about religion in schools? That story about the teacher tearing up the picture is horrible? People like that really shouldn't be allowed near children.

Nolda I'd love to see the Northern lights I might have a look at that.

Vagolajahooli · 30/09/2013 09:08

Oops almost forgot DS1 loved his swimming comp he even got a medal. He actually came last in both his races as he was in heats with bigger boys but one of the races had only three competitors so he got a bronze medal! He's chuffed to bits with it. The club was really happy with his technique so that's the main thing.

JamInMyWellies · 30/09/2013 09:11

Morning everyone!

Arti we were on the verge of booking a 3 day Santa trip with Canterbury Travel when we found out we were upduffed. Loads of companies do them if you search the archives there are lots of threads about it. For us a 3 day 4 night trip was going to be £4thousand. It was staying in a log cabin with husky rides all meals lots of Santa activities and of course a visit with the big fella. Also lots of companies do it and you stay in a town and are shipped out to the santa area and go in en mass to see him. Which we didn't want to do. Instead the money has been spent on new dining room furniture and a decorator!

Off for my whooping cough immunisation this morning this is a first for me I do not like needles and didn't have to do any of that last time round. I also have to have the flu vaccine. Ouch.

Indith continued good luck with the no boobs at night.

Beans how was your night?

Am a little scared about the no sleep talk its bringing back the nightmares we had with DS2 and am terrified the same happens with No.3.

Arrtttiiieee · 30/09/2013 09:14

Jam, I have vowed to stop with the no sleep talk. Its not fair on you and Beans and its boring for the others. Plus it might put LadyT of trying and we don't want that. Good luck with the imms.

That is great news about DS2 veggette. They are all getting so mature now!

Is today your first solo day Beans? If so, good luck!

Arrtttiiieee · 30/09/2013 09:15

OFF TRYING not OF TRYING. What is wrong with me.

Rubes, are you still sunning yourself in Dubai?

JamInMyWellies · 30/09/2013 09:21

Sorry arti don't not talk about it am sure I will be majorly moaning in a few months and will need you lot for sanity. It has just reminded me. But please do continue to share I didn't at all mean for that to sound like I wanted you to stop.

Arrtttiiieee · 30/09/2013 09:31

I'd actually decided to stop before you posted Jam, I just don't want to become a baby bore. Also babies are scrum my and gorgeous and for my own sake I need to focus on how lovely DS is in the day rather than how disruptive at night.

Mckayz · 30/09/2013 09:48

I have stopped moaning about DDs sleep. After 15 months it is a bit boring.

DH goes today. Boooo! Sad

beans37 · 30/09/2013 11:10

Heh heh! I'll try to stop too because it is boring. Plus I ad a good night last night. Only 2 ups... Phew. And actually, I'm definitely less uptight this time round as it's my last, so am going to enjoy her. And she is scrummy, Artiiiie you're right! Positivity all the way!

Oh Kayz, that's a bummer. How long for?

Vag! Yay to the medal!
