Ah, I see. Smile From a cost point of view I can recommend the Tesco value nappies. They are £1.41 for 20 I think, and if you were just using one a night it would be affordable. If it helps you and him sleep then it might be worth using them at night. I have used a combo, varying with age. For example there was a time when DD2 was just in cloth at night as no sposie could keep her dry.

Brockle · 26/08/2013 09:13

I know I post really rarely but your DD1 has me worried vq as DS1 starts year 3 this year too. a shock is coming I think! ds2 is starting year 1 as well so I will have my work cut out I think! Smile Smile

I lurk a lot and whilst its hard to read about peoples amazing sleeps its good to know it does get better. especially for people that have really struggled with sleep in the past. good nights and happy babies should be cheered not mocked Smile.

can I ask a q? Yousef hates cow and gate formula. has anyone found a formula that is more palatable? really struggling with this. Sad he is bf but ff fed on my working days but he takes virtually no ff and then feeds all night Sad

BigPigLittlePig · 26/08/2013 09:53

Dsds school report said that she focuses brilliantly on tasks that she has set herself (ie the art corner) but needs to work on applying the same concentration to teacher-set tasks (ie actual work as opposed to play). This term could be interesting lol - she has already informed me she doesn't like her teacher because she is "strict" - as opposed to the "miss honey" reception/y1 teacher lol.

I got your joke pidj - but read it in the same minute as I read VQs comment so I guess it was in context.

Donnadoon · 26/08/2013 09:53

Brockle we use Aptimal , my sister has just introduced formula to her five month old and after c+g refusal she seems to be enjoying the Aptimal :)

Brockle · 26/08/2013 09:57

thanks donna will get some ready made today Smile

Elizadoesdolittle · 26/08/2013 10:02

stunt e was still on 3 doses of ranitidine until recently. I then dropped to 2 (which you probably did a long time a go). I was advised to reduce each dose every couple of days which i did. However this is when e started doing that brown vomit so I put it back up.

daisy we are staying in a little village called hartington I think it's called. Not that far from Matlock bath.

Well I was supposed to be having a nice day out with dh the 2 girls and our friends and their 2 children but I'm really not well enough. So annoying. So dh is goin to go and I'll just lay on the sofa!

ValiumQueen · 26/08/2013 10:06

Brockle maybe your younger one starting school for the first time will help your older one, being the big brother etc, helping detract from anything he is not so keen on. DD1 is a drama queen at the best of times, and she is not happy that mummy and her two siblings are at home either. That changes of next week hopefully.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 26/08/2013 10:12

Oooooo. The carpets go in today. And the fridge ,cooker, washer and dryer arrive. I am getting impatient to get in now and to start my new life. It is a nice little holiday cottage but there is nowhere really safe to put O apart from the high chair so I have to have eyes in the back of my head. All the toys are in boxes up at the house and I am shopping for food every couple of days, partly because I don't want t o have loads of food to transport and partly because I am not getting any time to do any meal planning, I don't like doing it that way. We eat boringly as I don't have time to think.

And I have been living out of a suitcase for nearly three weeks and I am fed up with that.

And the bloody town is shut off today for a fish festival and I need to go and get food. Grr.

Moan over. I am grateful, really I am. Just impatient and have an irritable feeling day. Not helped by feeling bloated.

Lily311 · 26/08/2013 11:14

I got the joke too pidj and vq. I use aldi nappies, here they are the cheapest and one big bag is enough for nearly 2 months. I don't want to wake up for a crying baby because she is wet.

So after 3 months it's raining. I feel happy. I love the rain. I need to make a couple of phone calls and someone is coming to see how I live, apparently I might be able to get some kind of benefit for O though living in the newest building next to the river will not help. We shall see.

Off to do some Internet banking, I am hopeless nowadays for keeping an eye on my finances.

YellowWellies · 26/08/2013 11:32

Just a quickie to say hello and hope everyone is well. Holiday going great so far. Bryz I was advised to take 1200mg a day of calcium whilst dairy free and BF. Will try to catch up. Love to all xx

GTbaby · 26/08/2013 12:15

Oh fuck wank shit. Our cot mattress cover only comes off on one side. And have been using it upside down! So now side that does not come off is dirty.
Fuck shit shit FUcking shit.

Sophiathesnowfairy · 26/08/2013 12:41

Ok feeling less poo now.

Have had a nice quiet morning with boys, made quesadillas for lunch O loved them, obviously cut into little bits. Both having a snooze, have caught up with ironing, made a shopping list that covers 48 hours, swished and swiped the bathrooms and now have coffee, banana and Doctors.

Getting back on top of stuff has perked me up.

I hope you are all enjoying your bank holiday.

The carpets are going down, the white goods are at the house and the kitchen fitters are back finishing up.

StuntNun · 26/08/2013 12:46

BigPig I'm no expert but looking into proton pump inhibitors it appears that one response to anti-reflux medications is an upregulation of the hormone that promotes acid production in the stomach. So if you stop taking them abruptly then there will be an overproduction of stomach acid. That's probably why missing a dose or two causes such dramatic effects. It doesn't necessarily mean that the medication is still required. I have tapered J from 2.5 ml to 2 ml and I'll decrease it every two or three days unless I see any adverse effects in which case I'll keep it at the same level for longer.

BigPigLittlePig · 26/08/2013 13:06

I'd love to get F shot of the meds. We haven't properly tried for a few months, when she had obviously outgrown her dose and her symptoms started to creep back in. Shall attempt to drop it down gradually and see what happens

We appear to have been invaded by wasps. Who love the raspberry jelly that F has had for pudding Hmm Fecktards.

GTbaby · 26/08/2013 13:31

Not caught up totally. Hope everyone is well x

VQ if I'm honest a couple things have upset me recently on the thread. But thing is I know ppl don't mean to upset others here. This is a safe environment. But like with any friendship group ppl miss hear/miss read and misunderstand things. Hope your feeling better today.

Det. I'm a lazy mummy. Lo wears a vest most the time at the min as its warm. When we go out we put on tracky bottoms or trousers.
Yesterday I got a hoody out for when its chilli at night. At night time he wears a vest with a cellular blanket on. I
I haven't been using his grow bag as its very hot at night. But I'm now cautious of using it when it gets cooler as he stands up n worried he will trip up.

I would like to use re useable. But FH is like no way. Mil is like not in my machine. But have to say when I look into it, it is so confusing! N worried that I'd end up spending loads on trying difference types lol.

Right better get some food. So hungry all the time.

Passmethecrisps · 26/08/2013 13:41

Very quick lunchtime stop over.

How are we all? Sorry you were upset last night VQ. How are things today?

I asked my GP about reducing meds and he shrugged his shoulders and said 'drop a dose'. I am a bit confused though as I thought ranitidine was to do with H2 receptors and omeprazole was a proton pump inhibitor. Either way, I was planning taking maybe half a ml off per week and going that way.

In other news I think I accidentally fed P cheese last night. No ill effects at all. In fact she slept as well as she has for a very long time.

Passmethecrisps · 26/08/2013 13:43

Oh fuck! PR?!

ValiumQueen · 26/08/2013 13:45

Stunt Ranitadine is not a PPI though.

About PPs comment, I do not want there to be an argument about whether it was a joke or misleading or how I should have taken it. It upset me. PP explained. End of.

ValiumQueen · 26/08/2013 13:47

PR will be at nursery getting the wee ones settled. Her DH is off too so I am sure she will be fine.

ValiumQueen · 26/08/2013 13:47

I am fine Pass, thank you Smile

TheDetective · 26/08/2013 13:58

I fucking KNEW I tempted fate with saying O hadn't woken in the night for weeks.

Course he fucking woke last night! But it was quite cute. Because he turned his own Ewan on to harp! Grin

So all is forgiven! He did eventually manage to settle and slept til 7.50. Phew.

I am not going to mess with O's doses of Ranitidine, as although he has increased his vomiting Confused he is settled enough for me not to want to rock the boat. I am not doing anything til he is 1.

I tried my work uniform on this morning. It is a little loose on me now! Grin Before I was pregnant it was tight. It did get looser with the hyperemesis though.

I would like to lose 4 or 5 more lb before I go back as that would make me feel even better :) I've now lost 2st 4.5lb. I would like to get to 3st by October. I am averaging half a stone a month. It feels so slow. I don't think my colleagues will notice I have lost weight when I go back. I think they will be expecting me to be much slimmer than I am. But then they didn't see the weight pile on after I had O!

StuntNun · 26/08/2013 13:59

Yes ranitidine is not a PPI and there doesn't seem to be much indication on whether it has the same hormonal upregulation effect. I'm going to go with the precautionary principle and reduce J's dose gradually as ime going cold turkey is usually not the best option with most drugs.

TheDetective · 26/08/2013 14:24

Oh, and this morning, DP went in to O's room to get him up, and he was shouting muma muma muma over and over at DP. Then DP bought him to see me, and he was grinning and giggling. Grin

He's having massive developmental leaps right now. With his speech, walking, and he is finally clapping after months of looking at me with a 'WTF' expression!

Such a lovely age right now... shame they have to grow up really...!

StuntNun · 26/08/2013 15:32

No developmental leaps here. No talking, no crawling, no waving, no clapping. We must be having a developmental plod instead!

izzybizzybuzzybees · 26/08/2013 16:27

Worst night in a long time. That's all I have to say. I do not know why he was wakes crying now. Most of the time he can be settled by a hand on his back or side and switching on ewan. I don't know what else to do.

I had my Gyn appt today. I'm back on the waiting list for surgery. Great! He also told me I'd ideally never return to my job as it's too manual. Also told me that woman think they're superwoman after surgery and lift things they shouldn't!
