Of course she was playing quietly. With my handbag. And purse. Which had dog tranquilisers in it (have counted them she hasn't taken any), and paracetamol (there was only one left and she hasn't taken it) and receipts dating back a year. And all my bank cards, as well as copies of DH's bank cards (we don't have joint accounts but have full proxy on each other's accounts iyswim, so have double the amount of cards each). And my chequebook, on which she has been practising drawing circles (haven't used it in over a year and was wondering where it was). And fortunately my purse only had 5?01 in it. Te one cent was a choking hazard but she's quite good now about not putting things in her mouth. The 5? note is no more. It was the sound of paper tearing which alerted me to what she was doing.

Oh well, it was a good chance to empty it of crap, get rid of out of date bank cards and a timely reminder about not leaving medication in children's reach. Even though it wasn't in her reach. The sodding cat must have knocked a handle down so she could grab it.

Pikz · 21/08/2013 14:13

Today is a day that I could just do without.

Projectile vomit

Exploding pops that require a full bath

Screaming fits that end with capol

And a clingyness that is doing my head in as I can't even dettol properly from the poo :(

And a very stressed DP

PetiteRaleuse · 21/08/2013 14:21

Flowers pikz that sounds bloody awful :(

Sophiathesnowfairy · 21/08/2013 14:21

Oh no pikz sounds like you will be glad when it is over. Write it off and think about tomorrow. Oo and muddy puddles for waterproofs.

PetiteRaleuse · 21/08/2013 14:32

I'll call him tomorrow, see what he thinks. If he says to go ahead without waiting for psy assessment I will do.

Lily311 · 21/08/2013 15:45

mm I owned a baby bjorn and omg, I would never ever use it again after owning an ergo too. No, no, no. It hurt my shoulder, my lower back, had headache after 40 min. O is now 9 kilos and is too heavy. The ergo on the other hand is so comfortable,I yet to have headache or pain in my shoulders. My balance is also much better.

pikz hugs

As for competitive parenting, my SIl is the worst. My nephew slept through at 6 weeks, crawled at 6 months, run at 9, etc. I don't give a shit. O is nowhere near that but she doesn't need to be, I'm glad she is developing at a normal pace.

ValiumQueen · 21/08/2013 15:50

Oops PR. Glad she is ok and did not eat anything.

Pikz (((hug)))

MM so you are going to sell it on then Grin

Oops Blush I should have asked the experts first. Ach well, I'll give it a whirl before relisting it.

Izzy I dont think I have said already but I am DELIGHTED J seems to be eating more now!!! xxx

Hugs for those having a tricky time.

Good luck with the move stunt - I moved twice in 5 months last year and hate moving Sad

Pass you have reminded me to renew my breakdown cover - the amount of ishoos I have had with this car I will need it! I have my last interview for a poss new job tomorrow and if I get it the first thing I will be doing is chopping the car in for something less renault Smile

DP has been a dick today. But not by his usual dicky standards. Progress. Very slow progress...

Puppy is brilliant. He is fab for keeping M amused. Very gentle with her, knows to leave her toys, etc. Shame she isn't the same Confused

TheDetective · 21/08/2013 16:29

I am sat in M&S in the changing room. DS1 is trying school uniform on. He came out the changing room to show me the fit.

Some woman has just walked in to his cubical where all his clothes plus about 8 different bits of uniform are. I shouted excuse me as she locked the door. No answer. It took me shouting at the top of my voice to get her to open the door again! Wtf?! How could she not see all the clothes inside there Confused. People are strange.

Ps. Harassed look is the only way to describe me!

Pps. I just spent £50 on foundation and mascara. Oh fuck!

PetiteRaleuse · 21/08/2013 16:39

mm1 puppies and babies are great together aren't they? Just to remind you though that in a few weeks ago he will be teething and will most likely, being a mouthy breed, chew on everything. It will be a good time to teach them both about boundaries, (3 months is when they can really learn) and also that Tilly shouldn't go near his food or chew toys as he may well nip her unintentionally. Also at that stage when they become mouthy if you don't nip it in the bud it becomes a bad habit and almost impossible to stop

I'm sure you know all that. I found a teething puppy almost as difficult as a teething baby. But as you other dog is quite old I figured you may have forgotten.

PetiteRaleuse · 21/08/2013 16:40

detective what a twat!

ChasingDaisy · 21/08/2013 17:26

Is it normal for babies not to want to eat any solids while teething? O is currently existing on rice cakes, raisins, fruit and the odd taste of whatever is given for meals. Plus 4 milk feeds of 6-7oz

PetiteRaleuse · 21/08/2013 17:33

Anything is normal with teething :o but yes, I think it is normal to not want anything hard on the gums. H won't let himself starve just try and follow his cues.

YellowWellies · 21/08/2013 18:24

Good god this must be a growth spurt breakfast, snack, lunch, second lunch, cousin's birthday cake, tea and BF like every 2hours Shock Shock Shock Shock ! And proper separation anxiety except with my twin sister who gets twirly finger waves, smiles and hiyas like a scouse parrot. Methinks forward crawling within a fortnight. Something's definitely afoot.

MM I think the Bjorn's are bad for hips but some folks love them and they resell well as they're the brand everyone's heard of if you want a shot of the ergo try it next time I see you. Glad to hear Auley is being fab. And DP meh Brew he's done worse and you seem quite chipper about it. Good luck for the interview.

We're off on holiday in 2 days with DH's extended family. I'm dreading the shared catering and trying to remind everyone to check for dairy before feeding the bear Confused. Still free baby sitters Wine Wine Wine can't complain I will though watch me.

Lily311 · 21/08/2013 18:26

chasing o had tooth nr 3 and 4 through this am and she did not eat anything today. She had 14oz formula.

PurplePidjin · 21/08/2013 18:38

Tall? Confused R said Ta in response to being given a biscuit!

PetiteRaleuse · 21/08/2013 19:08

yw are you going somewhere nice?

Passmethecrisps · 21/08/2013 19:16

I am very impressed with these bletherers! Especially when it is polite in response to a biscuit Pp!

Good luck with the interview mm!

chasing very common. I think they get comfort from milk as well. Cosy.

Touch wood 3 bottles seems to be going well for P! She has been having almost full bottles twice a day and a 120ml after lunch. She ate all of her lunch today and amazed the CM. it was sardines, cucumber, tomatoes and olives. Apparently she went at it like a crazy thing and enjoyed every bite. She also had massive dinner. Fingers crossed things stay on this trend.

Where's yer hols yw?

PetiteRaleuse · 21/08/2013 19:17

pidj :o I did wonder

Passmethecrisps · 21/08/2013 19:18

How are things now pikz? That sounded absolutely awful before.

YellowWellies · 21/08/2013 19:40

Off to the Yorkshire Dales, 15 of us in one huge farmhouse. It's remote so if I go postal at that many in laws no one will find the evidence for ages Wink Grin

TheDetective · 21/08/2013 19:40

YW No, YANBU. I haven't come across this kind of parent yet but can imagine...! Although I suppose some babies won't display their skills in public... but generally, if they are a mover, and you put them on the floor, they move! Grin I don't see the point in 'showing off' when it comes to children. Mostly because they are all so different, and they are all learning in their own order, not some pre-set order! I am jealous of babies who have worked out stacking cups chasing, saying ta Pidj and all kinds of skills! I love how different they all are! It's amazing!

Pikz Oh fuck :( How are you this evening? Hope things got better. Thanks

Lily Ummmm, nope, no one in Hungary! Sorry :( France is about as far as my eligible men go. Although he just got married. So, maybe not...!

I am having sling ishoos :( I took it out again today, put O up before we went out. By the time I got off the bus and started walking, I was very uncomfortable. My pelvis felt like it was being crushed, and my legs heavy and aching. They had felt a little like that last night, but having O in the sling exacerbated it. I had to take him straight down. It was hurting my shoulders too. Confused Not sure why that happened. He was definitely positioned correctly, the same as I did yesterday.

O had his 9-12 month development review. My mum turned up with her 2 and 5 year old grandsons about 15 minutes before the HV was due! So it was like a mad house when she arrived!! She called O she Confused 4 times til my mum corrected her Grin. Anyway, she was super impressed with his development, sympathised with the sleep, and gave us a referral for his eyes as me and DP have shit eyes technical term. I have no worries with his sight, but I figure it can't harm to have him checked given DP was wearing glasses at 3, and it was really bad by the time it was picked up.

Also, O is a show off Hmm. He stood up while the HV was watching him, and then tried to take a step. Fuck fuck fuck. He hasn't repeated it since, thank goodness! She had said to me when she saw him initially, 'oh he will definitely be walking by 12 months'. Then when she saw him do that, she was like 'erm, I think he might be walking by next week' Shock.

Oh, and finally, a sensible HV about weight - I mentioned to her that he had moved up through the centiles, starting at the 2nd and was now on the 75th. She had already asked me about his food intake, and said there were no concerns with it. She looked at him, and said 'well, he looks tall, he looks well in proportion, he's moving so he is burning off energy, he's eating the right foods and the right amounts for his age. Looking at his chart, his progress up has been slow and steady, if it was a sudden jump it would be more of a concern. I think he has just been working his way up to where he will be, and might yet go up further. So I don't think there is anything at all to worry about'. Grin So kyz tell your HV to put that in her pipe and smoke it Grin.

PR Sorry about the bag Grin. DS1 did similar at 3. I had paracetomol in the zip compartment. I didn't know how many there were left before hand, so ended up having to take him to A&E in a mad panic! Little sod. Hmm

JJ Was it you the other day who said about me saying DS1 was happier once moving? Yep, he was. It wasn't until he was walking though that he was truly happy! O seems happier now, but it took him crawling and cruising for a week or two before he seemed to settle completely! Wonder what he will be like when he walks...

Sorry for the essay!

TheDetective · 21/08/2013 19:43

Pass When I reduced to 3 feeds O started draining the bottles. He only ever did that when I first started weaning. Then he went back down to 6oz feeds.

Now he takes all 8oz pretty much 9/10 times. I have thought about giving him 9oz, but I actually think the bottles are more comfort to him and less like food now, I think he would just keep on taking more if I offered it at the feed. I think 24oz is enough, so not going to make up 9oz for now.
