Oh no Frus!! Are you ok? Able to move at all?

FrussoHathor · 16/09/2013 19:29

I can move as long as I don't stop moving. It's my lower back again I just sat on my swivel armchair to feed ds, put him on the floor. And then couldn't get up.
I'm dreading going to bed tonight. Well not the going to bed bit, but the needing the toilet in the night. Confused

Sad I'm sorry. Plenty of Wine should do the trick Wink

kittykatsforever · 16/09/2013 20:05

I want a gummy glove too!!
Where do you find these things pear?!
And if it makes you feel better Ive just blown £350 on my car insurance excess as I've reversed into another car Hmm I've been trying to cut back on money and this happens, I couldn't be more gutted Hmm
But the kids are fine, I need to be thankful really

Lorelei353 · 16/09/2013 20:07

FrussoHathor · 16/09/2013 20:07

Oh kitty just saw your post. nightmare. like you said though at least you're all ok.

peardrop2 · 16/09/2013 21:12

Oh goodness. kitty Shock that's really really annoying for you! I hope you've treated yourself with Wineto help the pain! And Frus Sad poor you! Does deep heat help at all? Could you have a hot bath tonight? I think you deserve some me time!

I'm selling the gummy glove on. Maybe eBay Sad Baby pear wouldn't even let me put it on his hand. Ended up in a ginormous paddy. Should have known better really because he's not one for things on his head, feet or hands. Putting shoes on in the future is going to be fun!!

pear what do you mean when you said the glove was meant for tiny hands? Is it too small for baby pear?
Dd2 won't wear gloves, and even now doesn't like socks or shoes or hats.

Do you think ds will mind being in a pink grow bag? part of me thinks he might be too hot. But it was freezing last night.

Frus our house is so cold that I've taken to dressing Runt in a vest & sleepsuit, swaddling him with his arms free so he can find his thumb & laying him on a fluffy blanket on the bed with a woolen blanket on top! Somehow his hands are still cold in the morning! Hmm I think it's because he sucks his fingers & makes them wet so they get cold. We're absolutely definitely not putting the heating on yet though. I've just been reading a thread with tips for someone who can't afford to heat their house. I now want to line the windows with clingfilm, duct tape the edges, foil behind the radiators, pin blankets to the walls & buy electric blankets for the beds. Can't imagine DH is going to permit any of that! Sad He'll probably suggest cutting back on things like super-deep, scaldingly hot baths instead. Spoil-sport! Wink

peardrop2 · 16/09/2013 23:06

Frus ~ hmm probably should have said 'normal size' as baby pear has giant hands and feet (tall like his dad)

peardrop2 · 17/09/2013 00:16

Does anyone have any advice on when is the best time to buy clothes? I always seem to miss the online sales Hmm Do I just buy a few basic winter things and then wait for the Jan sales? I brought way too many newborn clothes not all worn I don't want to make the same mistake!

kittykatsforever · 17/09/2013 06:55

Frus Ive got kitten in a sleep suit and gro bag now and it's 2.5tog I was thinking of a blanket aswell lol it's 17 in her room so abit cool, we've got the hearing on allready Agnu! Although I do have cavity wall insulation etc so keeps the heat quite well
Pear I only tend to but clothes in the sale unless I really like them, I like the next sale then buy for the whole next year pretty much just get the right age for season so jumpers 6-9, summer clothes 9-12 or 12-18, car boot sales are really good for the odd items and knitted cardies if your obsessed with them like my mum but I imagine they are all comming to an end now and we do go every week lol

kittykatsforever · 17/09/2013 06:57

Oh and my advice would be never buy to many summer things, I know we had a good summer this year but usually we only have a week of nice weather!

peardrop2 · 17/09/2013 07:03

Help!! Baby pear has a booked up nose and has a terrible cold! I only have Vicks in the house but it says over 2 only Hmm

Kitty ~ thanks. Good tips!

Librarina · 17/09/2013 08:45

Pear, but the Vicks on a muslin then tie it to her cot.

N had her first cold this week. Made me cry!

FrussoHathor · 17/09/2013 09:02

Yes to next Xmas sale. But make sure you know what their sizing is like on baby pear before you go, then only buy for the next 6 months. So at Xmas I will be looking at a couple of 6-9 lots of 9-12 and the odd 1-1.5. As wardrobe staples, And that should see me through to the warmer weather.

Don't know about snotty noses. The snot suckers are gross, and ime don't work. Maybe some vicks on a flannel in his cot?

Lorelei353 · 17/09/2013 09:24

ASDA clothes are great value. We didn't really have warm clothes in ds size so stocked up there at the weekend.

AGnu · 17/09/2013 11:10

Asda clothes are huge though! It's ridiculous the variation in sizes for little ones. Calf currently has a sleepsuit in 12-18 from Sainsburys & PJs in 18-24 from Baby GAP. The PJs are a much snugger fit! Hmm

pear do you have a syringe? You can put a couple of drops of breastmilk in his nose to help flush it out. Works for adults too... DH flatly refuses to try it though! Don't get what the big deal is! If there's any chance of it working I'll try anything when I'm ill! I'll be dripping bm in my nose, ears & eyes just as soon as I've got Calf & Runt down for their naps after lunch! I draw the line at gargling it for my tonsilitis though... It would probably help but it'd taste icky & would be a waste of precious milk!

AGnu · 17/09/2013 11:38

Oh, & you can put Vicks on the bottom of his feet & cover them with socks. I imagine having it that bit further away will make it slightly less potent. Also means he can't get it on his hands & put them in his mouth! Hope he gets better soon! Everyone seems to be coming down with colds at the moment. Runt is the only one in our house to not get it yet. I was hoping the antibodies in my milk would protect him but he's sneezing a lot today... Eep! Sad

FrussoHathor · 17/09/2013 13:57

Because babies can't put their feet in their mouths Hmm actually I'm not sure if that is normal or not? Dd2 is hypermobile. can babies put their feet in their mouth? Confused

OP posts:
AGnu · 17/09/2013 14:17

Neither of my DSs ever have... They can be bent so their feet reach their mouths, they just don't do it themselves. Babies on TV do though...! Maybe it's my DC who are abnormal... They must take after their DF. He can't even touch his toes. I could get mine in mouth if I felt so inclined. I used to be able to lay on my belly, push myself up with my arms & bring my feet over the back of my head to touch my nose! Nearly crippled myself doing it & I was only about 10 at the time... But none of that detracts from the fact that I could do it once upon a time! Wink

FrussoHathor · 17/09/2013 14:46

My ds has wet feet. And I can't figure out how. I think he's slobbering in his hands and then grabbing his feet. I don't think he's put his feet in his mouth yet.
I can bite my toe nails. I don't. That would be gross. But I could if I wanted to. Wink

Hmm school run in the rain. Do I sling ds or keep him in his car seat?

OP posts:
bringonthetrumpets · 17/09/2013 15:17

My #2 always was sucking on his toes. The kid could bend himself totally in half.

I would probably say on a flannel near baby's head. Or olbas oil nearby works too. Their skin is super porous all over their bodies still at this point, the bottoms of the feet would still be like feeding it to them because it will be absorbed so much.

Poor things! Sad I hate the snot suckers. I always feel really bad doing it. #2 had RSV when he was about 7 months old and the docs in the A&E told me that I had to do it because the amount of snot was so bad and it was actually dangerous since he was coughing so much and was choking on the mucus So gross. Saline nose drops work too. Big brothers are back in school so I'm just bracing myself and baby for the first cold to arrive, it's bound to be anytime now!

We've had to stock up on warm clothes too! shhhh don't tell anyone how much I'm loving the autumnal weather
