Just been a crappy day. :( DH & I had a huge row this morning things were said and just :(

Hop - I'm sure co-sleeping will be fine.

Sky coughing a gooden bloomin' croup!

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 12/10/2013 21:23

Mopsy that sounds yum. I've had two Coors lights as that's all my inlaws have that isn't brandy. I have had a GU dark choct and orange pudding with magnum ice cream. DS just woke upt saying his ear hurt, he was playing with it earlier, hope it's not thet beginning of an infection.

queen sorry bout croup, sounds hellish.

mopsytop · 12/10/2013 21:56

Hope it's not earache Sad

Queenie, sorry to hear about row. Boo. Hope Sky feels better soon. Croup sucks. It sounds so bad too, it makes you worry.

aethel not a fan of alcohol in chocolates but if you are a fan I think more is defs the way to go. It might as well taste a bit boozy...

NorthernChinchilla · 13/10/2013 09:28

I really wouldn't worry at all Hop; I co-slept with DS for the first five months, and quite regularly had a glass of wine, etc, I just made sure that I didn't have anything in the hours before bed, and wasn't drunk. Two beers and a toddler, it's no problem, he's more likely to wake you than anything else!

I'm with you mopsy, I don't like my choc adulterated with booze, although I love the two things seperately.

Sorry you're having a tough time Queenie, croup is the pits. Not surprised you've had a row if you've got that to deal with as well. How's your DS by the way figgy, has he stopped up-chucking?

Today it is mainly raining... I've got to clean the bathroom and shower, yi pee, and make a batch of tomato sauce for pasta, and a batch of brownies to take in tomorrow. I also need to get some secutuers (sp?!) as my Mum had bought me some new fancy ones and they have disappeared completely, plus some sand to make grit for hardwood cuttings I'm doing.

QueenofClean · 13/10/2013 10:15

Northern hope you have fun cleaning.

Our row was because I'm stressed to the max. DH said it feels like to him I'm pushing him away and that he's been away all week and I didn't look that enthusiastic that he was home. I agreed that I have a defence barrier up most of the time to protect myself from hurting. As I've never had support since the age of 8 and although I know he's here to help me and he does try to help me I'm afraid to let the barrier down incase he walks away and I'm on my own again. I'm used to being on my own, dealing with my own stuff and not relying on anyone else and I find it hard to let him in and help me.

Is that a bad thing?

LadyGoodman · 13/10/2013 12:58

Qoc has your dh always been so needy? A lot of the arguments u mention here seem to be along such lines?

DS not puked since Friday but he's avoiding solid food and just screams recoiling from most things except yogurts it's worrying and annoying in equal measure. I've now eaten his lunch .....bad mummy Grin

QueenofClean · 13/10/2013 13:24

Lady, glad DS has stopped puking. if all he wants are yoghurts for now let him eat them. his appetite will get back to normal in no time.

DH has always disliked coming home to an empty house. he does try and help but feels pushed away by me and I guess just wants to be closer to me but keeps hitting the defence barrier. also said he's not telepathic and doesnt know when my joints are hurting as I never say anyyhing. no one can do anything about my joints and I don't wasn't pity etc. I dunno Sad

mopsytop · 13/10/2013 19:51

Ugh I have been working most of the weekend (altho had a nice time from 6.15-10.30am w Minimopsy while Mr.Mopsy had a lie in, plus two hours with her yesterday afternoon) and finally got a draft of my conference paper together. Worried it is utterly shite though but at least it is sth. This time two weeks ago I didn't even think I'd have anything to say. Ugh though. No rest really and straight back into teaching prep tomorrow never mind all the other research related tasks on my list clamouring for attention Sad

mopsytop · 14/10/2013 12:27

Oh dear. I broke the thread. sorry Blush

QueenofClean · 14/10/2013 12:33

Mopsy Hope your prep work got done okay?

ChipAndSpud · 14/10/2013 13:41

Hi everyone,

DM has been visiting Sad she's gone home today. DS is struggling with teething so I've given him some teething gel and calpol and he's having a nap now.

DM and I went shopping and I've bought two jumpers and three tops - very happy with these! Love shopping with DM as she knows my taste and what I'm aiming for and she's always honest!

We also bought DS some birthday and Xmas presents. DM has bought him the ELC kitchen which is the best we saw out of lots of toy kitchens! Can't wait to see his face when he opens it!

I have bought a few second hand toys as extras, bought a Fisher Price Pirates Ship and Fisher Price Little Gouse for £11 (would have been approx £65 new), and a Toys R Us play tent and tunnel for £5.

As main presents DH and I are going to get DS the Vtech Construction Site to go with his garage we bought him last year and a scooter.

I was checking out what's going on locally and I think we're going to take DS to the local fireworks night, I hope that he enjoys it!

ChipAndSpud · 14/10/2013 13:41

That'll be a house not a gouse!

OiMissus · 14/10/2013 18:38

We picked up a Thomas the Tank bike in Tesco - half price at £25. He's too small for it yet, but maybe by Christmas he'll be able to reach the pedals. Main present sorted!

Faffin · 14/10/2013 20:59

DS might have chicken pox Sad When I collected him from nursery this evening they showed me a few spots they'd seen. Other than one quite big one on his arm they were all pretty small and faint and they said that normally they'd have just assumed it was his eczema, but that there have been 8 other cases of chicken pox between DS' room and the one next door. There seemed to be a few more and bigger spots by the time I put him to bed this evening, but so far he's been fine and is sleeping so it's just wait and see how things look in the morning. DD hasn't had it yet either, so if it is the pox she's bound to get it too. Still, they've got to get it some time so we me as well get it over with in one big hit!

NorthernChinchilla · 14/10/2013 21:09

Yeesh, not what you want faffin, but as you say, fingers crossed in a way that they'll both get it and that will be your lot! Let us know how you get on.

mopsy I am sure it will be grand; just remind yourself that you're managing all these lectures, etc, and that no-one's been beating the Vice-Chancellor's door down demanding their money back after you've taught them! It sounds like it's ovewhelming at the moment, but it's meant to be- you've just started a new job Smile At least you got time with MiniM.

Hope DS has continued with the non-puking and is sloooowly starting to get back onto solids figgy.

And hope you've had a better day Queenie

I'm sitting here nursing a large gin after a couple of vodkas as it's my birthday tomorrow. Got the day off, will bimble around the house, doing jobs- varnishing the garden table anyone Confused?- and then the three of us will go for a pizza and a glass of wine.
Um...that's me with the glass of wine, obv, may let DS have juice...

QueenofClean · 14/10/2013 21:14

Figgy - hope Figgyboy is eating more than a yoghurt today.

Faffin - Chicken pox is everywhere at moment and like you say hope they both get it now and it's out the way.

Northern - thanks. I feel a tad better as got a few things off my chest to DH. On the other hand I detest my stupid body and all my joints really hurt :(

Happy Birthday for tomorrow GrinWineThanks

ChipAndSpud · 14/10/2013 21:28

Ahh that sounds cute Oi!

Hope you're stocked up on calpol and camomile lotion Fadfin just in case it is chicken pox! The pharmacist mentioned giving DS Piritin if the itching got too bad - she smiled when I added "yes and doesn't it help them sleep better too?"! Didn't need it in the end though! DS had a mild case and slept a lot and was very cuddly....it was quite nice as he's not a cuddly boy usually!

Happy birthday for tomorrow Northern Wine Cake Thanks

Hope you feel better tomorrow Queen, take care of yourself!

Faffin · 14/10/2013 21:37

Have a lovely birthday northern

Thanks all, will keep you posted of course. Armed myself with calamine when the first of DD's friends got it a couple of years ago, and I always have calpol and piriton in, so I'm as ready as I'll ever be!

Aethelfleda · 14/10/2013 21:53

Happy B'day northern for tomorrow!

I have a reasonably tidy lounge. It's very relaxing being able to see the carpet. I shall tell myself this again tomorrow when it becomes instantly covered in toys from 6am.....

Aethelfleda · 14/10/2013 21:55

Oh and good luck faffin : if it is the pox then try a slug of calpol to take the edge off the whiny, seemed to help when mine had it! (For some reason ibuprofen is not recommended in chickypox, something to do with a small risk of a weird drug reaction. Shame cos it's fab for everything else!)

OiMissus · 14/10/2013 22:52

Oh good luck faffin.
Have a fab birthday Northern!WineWineWineWineThanksWine

NorthernChinchilla · 15/10/2013 07:40

I have two roses and a garden centre voucher so far...can't imagine why? Not to mention all the flowers from you lot Grin

Just Brew at the moment, will have Wine with the pizza tonight!

Faffin · 15/10/2013 08:00

I feel like such a fraud Blush we had a rough night with DS and he ended up in with us, but it must have been due to general teethy snottiness because there's not a spot in sight this morning and he's full of beans. Looks like we're in the clear for now, but I'll be on high alert given the amount of kids at nursery with CP at the moment!

LadyGoodman · 15/10/2013 09:22

Happy birthday northern have a Wine

Tentative woop for faffin hope those spots stay away.

Am off to London again today am off to meetings in the 2nd tallest building in London wonder how many floors it'll have our office in London has 30 that's quite enough for my liking very long lift journeys I hate lifts!!!

ifyourehoppyandyouknowit · 15/10/2013 10:06

Yeay for no pox faffin and fingers crossed it doesn't darken your door anytime soon.

I feel you on the height/lift situation LG I can't go near the windows in really tall buildings.

Happy Birthday Norther eat lots and lots of cake!

Does Boi like Thomas Oi? He gets a mixed reception here. We need to meet up soon, bennybenbear has four functioning limbs again so we need to celebrate with cake (since you're off the booze).

We had a luffly weekend, back in the 'shire with the inlaws and my parents. DS had so much fun, playing with his gran and pappy, going for a very very wet walk in the woods, which helped him get over his fear of dogs a bit. We caught up with some old friends and generally ate a lot of biscuits and drank a lot of tea. Really looking forward to going back for a long break at Christmas. Inlaws and my parents are thrilled that we're going to be there for xmas and DS's birthday. Plus, this way I don't have to bother getting the tree up. DS did refuse to sleep in the travel cot though, so I think he might have to go in the single bed when we stay, he was in the double with me but he's a total bed hog and he fell out at one point. (I woke up to a 'thunk' followed by a 'waaaaah!' No harm done, I think he was just a bit surprised.) He's getting his upper canines and really wants everyone to know, he does keep saying his ear hurts but he's got no temp and doesn't seem ill, so I think it's deferred pain from the teeth? Aethal does that sound plausible?

RE Christmas presents; we're getting DS a micro scooter for his birthday (because I want more grey hair) but I'm at a bit of a lodd about Christmas, I was thinking about some of the happy land stuff, but he's obsessed with diggers, bin trucks and animals at the minute so any suggestions on that theme would be greatly appreciated! Also need to get stuff for my 11 year old and 13 year old nephews. Am coming up totally blank there!
