Hiya, not left...been to a wedding on a child free basis so made the most of it Wink

Thanks for the ELC tip Seven

DH is off to London tomorrow & not back till late Thursday as going on a course. So I'm on my own with the girls this week, it will be fine tho as DH generally let's me crack on when he's home anyway as I have my own routine Smile

Must get some sleep now tho as been a long weekend.

SevenOnwardsAndUpwards · 07/10/2013 13:51

My money saving thread is on discussions of the day :o

Glad someone made use of it faffin, I ordered some bits for the DDs for Christmas.

QueenofClean · 07/10/2013 15:29

Wow! We have royalty on the thread - Well done Seven Grin

mopsytop · 07/10/2013 19:25

Nice one seven.

I still haven't bought a single present Blush

PerilousStiletto · 07/10/2013 19:54

No presents bought here either. No planning done either. Not planned a birthday party for Boi yet either. Not done anything yet for Hallowe'en...
Lock me up and throw away the key. Shock

I've only bought one... but birthday first Smile

Was a fun weekend, DP didn't dance as ever, but I loved leaping about to the music. Don't know if anyone else did maypole dancing as a kid, but it just took me back, great fun. Sadly, what with a knackering week followed by DS having a few disturbed nights- the mad drooling, fist in mouth, hot pink cheeks just might suggest teething...- I've had a killer headache with tiredness. Went to bed at 9 last night, and even though I had to get up with DS (again) I just stayed in bed and arrived at work at half 9. Feel vaguely human today.

Wish I'd known about that sale seven, my DM is getting DS the sand and water table from ELC for his birthday/Xmas present. He will love it- his two favourite things (after the unsurpasable ball) are bath and playing at the sink.

Glad to hear Lady G and Queenie have had nights out too, it's great just to have a tiny bit of time out without DCs. Hope you haven't worked yourself into a hole over the weekend though mopsy.

The house sale has still not fallen through- we might even get the survey done on this one Shock

mopsytop · 07/10/2013 20:09

Northern Minimopsy has that sand/water pit and LOVED it! But it is definitely not a winter toy unless you've a waterproof snowsuit because she never fails to get soaked from head to toe whilst playing with it!

Faffin · 07/10/2013 20:11

northern the elc sale ends today, so there's still time to get the discount if she hasn't already bought it. DD had the sand and water table for her 2nd bday and it's been brilliant. DS loves it too.

Aethelfleda · 08/10/2013 09:36

I have a cold. Grumble.

And have been delving the depths of the Feb 2012 thread for seven's magnificent truffle recipe, which I am going to re-create as soon as I can locate some dark chocolate and double cream.... and the energy to actually go out......

LadyGoodman · 08/10/2013 09:51

Aethel I know how u feel i got home from Scotland late last night slept in this morning have a throat like razor blades so taken decision to work from home in my pjs Grin

SevenOnwardsAndUpwards · 08/10/2013 10:02

aethel how on earth did you remember which thread it was?!

SevenOnwardsAndUpwards · 08/10/2013 10:06

aethel if you find it could you re-post it on here or PM please? I can't remember where the recipe came from, might have been goodfood maybe, but like an idiot I'm not sure if I have it written down anywhere , all I remember is that they were amazing!

Hope everyone is feeling better soon.

QueenofClean · 08/10/2013 10:25

Hope those who are feeling poorly get better soon.

I'm having the mirena coil fitted tomorrow. Anyone had any experiences? Must remember to take some painkillers before hand tho.

QueenofClean · 08/10/2013 11:12

DH is in London for the week on a course...so has been me and the girls since 7am yesterday.

I'm having a good cleaning session :) Kitchen done by 8am this morning all washing done and 2nd lot now in the dryer. Our room all tidy. Darcie's room will be tidy after her BFF goes home tonight - we have her from school for tea today - Sky's room is tidy. Just need to polish everywhere, hoover and clean the bathroom and do the dreaded ironing. Then I can put my feet up for rest of week and enjoy not having my routine interupted by a well meaning DH.

hinkyhonk · 08/10/2013 12:15

ah ha found it:

put 8oz of chopped dark chocolate in a (preferably metal) mixing bowl. In a small pan heat 1/2 cup (120ml) double cream and 1oz butter until just boiling then pour over the chocolate. Mix together then heat over a pan of water until its smooth. Take off the heat and stir in 2tbsp of whatever alcohol you fancy or expresso, then cling film and put in the fridge to set for a few hours or overnight. Roll into balls and coat in cocoa or icing sugar.

oh lord i've got to try those this year

LadyGoodman · 08/10/2013 12:43

Excellent work hinky!!

Has anyone read the penis dunking thread on actives today I'm guffawing over it. Good old MN!!!

No experience of coil here qoc.

Good news dh doesn't have lupus it's chronic gout and another less serious auto immune disease he's now on steroids and anti gout meds he feeling a bit more positive. I feel like a big fat pie after weekend at home everyone should try Sunday brunch at malmaison it is epic!! I didn't eat even a biscuit for 24 hours after we left Sunday afternoon unfortunately what I did then eat was an all u can eat buffet Grin need to get into a pre Xmas weight loss mood and a hell of a lot of motivation.

hinkyhonk · 08/10/2013 12:49

i've been reading that one too! (working from home... Blush )

nowt as odd as folk for sure

great news DH doesn't have lupus lady do you think that merely getting a different diagnosis will help lift his mood? perhaps another dc might be on the cards after all?

seriously considering number 3 here but struggling to make up our mind to go for it. we seem to be in the bit where everything is just getting a bit easier and to have another one seems a bit mad but i just don't feel like i'm done. then again the thought of having to buy another car to fit all the crap car seats in does fill me with horror.

QueenofClean · 08/10/2013 12:57

Lady Great news your DH doesn't have Lupus and that he has a diagnosis and with the right treatment he will feel better in no time.

I've been reading that thread - tad strange if you ask me!

I've had the copper coil before but never had a mirena...just wondering if there is much difference except the fact the mirena is a hormonal based one.

Hinky I'd say be really sure if you want another one..if you are then just go for it Grin

mopsytop · 08/10/2013 17:14

Phew figgy that's a big relief!

mopsytop · 08/10/2013 17:15

Lady I mean! Gah! I can't get my head around you or Oi's name changes for some reason. Stupid brain.

Three hrs of seminar teaching today... even more tiring than lecturing. Another three tomo. Tuesdays and Wednesdays most tiring with driving and teaching. Better get back to my lecture prep...

Aethelfleda · 08/10/2013 17:23

Thanks hinky, you beat me to it! Thanks to Lidl I now have cream and dark chocolate...

I can say from personal experience the mirena coil (IUS) is fab at making periods much lighter, as that was one of the main reasons I got one. The hormone dose in it is miniscule compared to the pill/injection/implant, and as such you're not meant to get hormone type side effects with it. Some ladies don't ovulate as much with it, so that could affect how you feel in terms of wanting to DTD, some people are more sensitive to ovulation than others. It does cause spotting for 1-6 MONTHS after it's put in (very light usually) but if you can get through that then it's five years cover with no hassle. If you do look on the internet there are lots of people claiming it causes hideous side effects, but I'm not sure how unbiased the people posting are IYSWIM, I tend to say try it and see if it's for you rather than point to the theory. As a contraceptive and period lightener it's darned effective.

Great news ladygoodman, hope that is a relief for him and helps him to lift his funk a little. Onwards, upwards and hope the steroids do the trick.

Baby Gap sale alert people! I've been stocking up on socks for DS, they are the only nice thick brand I've found that go all winter despite being washed and worn a million times....

PerilousStiletto · 08/10/2013 21:31

I am uploading 22months of video clips to YouTube (finally!). Then I will edit them into something watchable and keep foreverable. Smile
The uploading process takes forever. Hmm
Glad mrG does not have Lupus. Hope it lifts his mood. Wink
I have uploaded tonight's video to Facebook. My Boi is the cutest ever. "All fwends!" Grin

PerilousStiletto · 09/10/2013 03:54

Gah! Boi woke up at 3:30. He won't settle. DH has now taken over and taken him upstairs (our upstairs is downstairs IYSWIM).
I can't sleep, I may as well join them. Maybe I should check out that thread...
