That's some story xiao at least it's not just my life that's a soap opera

We ditched poppered vests in the spring for proper vests, she's 98th percentile for height and I didn't think anywhere done 2-3 in them. FWIW I bought DS plain thick cotton vests in primark last year £2 for a pack of 3.

Thanks for the info queen, moo free chocolate is pretty good, I used to get it for DD1 when she was lactose intolerant, thankfully she seems to have outgrown it now.

Speaking of my soap opera life, MIL came round on Thursday. I got a half-arsed apology, I've accepted for DHs sake more than anything, probably just easier to be the bigger person and just keep her at arms length from now on. I don't mind her seeing the DCs to a certain extent, but she'll never have them alone because frankly I don't trust her or have any respect for her anymore.

QueenofClean · 22/09/2013 20:21

Just a quick one...fell over earlier with Sky in my arms - saved Sky but in meantime really hurt my foot & ankle....it's swollen and a lump has come up and hurts to walk on it :(

SevenOnwardsAndUpwards · 22/09/2013 20:26

queen hope you're sitting with your feet up and something cold on it. I imagine you're probably feeling a bit shaken. Sorry you're hurt but thank goodness Sky was ok.

QueenofClean · 22/09/2013 20:41

I am sitting with my feet up - nothing cold on it tho as nothing really frozen in a bag iykwim. -really fucking hurts DH being less than sympathetic! :(

NorthernChinchilla · 22/09/2013 21:38

DS is currently filling his 2-3 year stuff rather well already... as we tend to dress him in dungarees then the popper vests are necessary. We've got the plain coloured ones from M'care, plus some patterned ones, including cow print which is awesome Grin

We saw the house... we loved it, couldn't raise the EA and offered the full price on the spot, which has been agreed in principle by the owner. We'll make it formal on Monday and have e-mailed our EA to say "help us land this one pleeeeeeeeeeease", and will call them too. Our main fear is that yet another cash/first time buyer will come along and snaffle it. So, start praying/sacrificing chickens/making offerings to the gods that they'll agree to take it off the market. We'd happily pay more for it, it's perfect and we want to move.

I'm sure your DN will get home and start biting the family dog or throwing Ribena on the carpet jiggle; it's the first law of parenting, the little efforts are always on best behaviour when they're with whoever isn't their parents!

And the joys of family Xiao and LadyG....will wait to hear with interest what happens in Kenya - sure they'll time the most dramatic thing for your CS date Grin - and sorry to hear about the crazy violent racist figgy! I've got some classics in my family too, mainly around my Eastenders (both literally and metaphorically) family on my Mum's side Confused

NorthernChinchilla · 22/09/2013 21:39

Oh no Queenie, hope you can walk on it in the morning- trip to the Doc's if not.

QueenofClean · 22/09/2013 22:44

My foot really hurts. In bed and can't get comfortable as hurts to much. Going to be a long nite :(

QueenofClean · 23/09/2013 07:18

Foot still swollen and hurts to walk on it still :( not sure how I'm going to do school run etc.

QueenofClean · 23/09/2013 10:28

Ok I've been to docs and now been send to A&E to rule out fracture of foot :( why do all the bad things happen to me?!

mopsytop · 23/09/2013 10:58

Oh dear Queen, hope it is OK and will heal fast...

PerilousStiletto · 23/09/2013 12:30

Where do I start with a catch up?!
Northern - I need one of your Great Northern Namechecks!
We had a fab holiday. The hotel was outstanding. We didn't set foot outside it for the full week. I know this is highly ignorant, but we just wanted a relax/sun/teach the Boi to swim holiday.
DH and I got on ok. Again, I have refrained from murdering him, so all is well. Smile
Boi did not learn to swim. But he made good progress in the pool. We now have to keep this up. Hmm

Waiting for x ray.

Oi good to see you had a nice time away and well done for not murdering MrOi Smile

ChipAndSpud · 23/09/2013 13:31

Glad your holiday went well Oi and I know exactly what you mean about just wanting to relax by a pool!

Hope it's not a broken foot Queen!

Fingers crossed on the house stuff Northern!

Dinner date sounds lovely Mopsy, much more appreciated post children!

Xiao your grandad sounds a real character! Grin

We're not having the best day here, DS is was awake at 4.50am, I'm grumpy, so is he, and I think he's bored too!

We have news on the house situation at last! The short version is that we've had an offer on the flat which we've accepted, and our offer on the house has also been accepted! Fingers crossed it goes smoothly!

QueenofClean · 23/09/2013 13:34

No broken bones just bad sprain :(

OctopusWrangler · 23/09/2013 13:51

Huzzah for sensible housishness and lack of breaks!

iPad folk, apps for toddlers? Octoboy is feeling left out when the bigguns have their fifteen minutes each, but minion rush is not his forte. Any ideas for nice apps he can have five minutes on now and again please?

EasyMark · 23/09/2013 16:49

Oi glad holiday was good

queen hope foot heals soon and you feel better

Xiao thanks for the cook books i have added them on to my xmas list so dh knows what to get me

Im thinking about getting Hope a pram or a rocking horse for birthday and a ride on motobike for xmas and boll cloths/assessaries. Air is getting lego marval game and a second hand ds lite as i had one but it broke and i have games for it already and he can use it on the 6+ hour bus trip to disney in May. Air is also getting a new footy kit. Dh is having the new stephen king dr sleep shining two book. Still thinking what else to get him!

LadyGoodman · 23/09/2013 17:35

Octo DS has a Disney story app which reads to him or u can and record yourself a lot of his others r a bit babyish now also need inspiration.

Am off to see the manic street preachers tonight PIL due any minute on babysitting duties. Must admit Its DH choice I'm more a terrible pop music girl Grin

I've just taken receipt of 2 massive momtage canvasses of DS Gromit spotting bought from groupon/you frame only bought 1 somehow have 2 . Not complaining 1 for mums 60th in October 1 for us so 2 £90 canvasses for less than £30 excellent!!

SevenOnwardsAndUpwards · 23/09/2013 18:23

LadyG so jealous you're off to see manics!

oi glad you had a good time, lovely FB pics btw, the BOi is gorgeous and looks so grown up :)

I don't dare let DD1 on the iPad, she's such a destructive child. She been driving me mad today, thankfully no tantrums just being naughty, and got through 4 changes of clothes!

DH is going down to 4 days a week in October. Most of my money gets paid weekly so I'm trying to get ahead with Xmas shopping. I'm starting a dressing up box for DD1, won 2 dressing up dresses on eBay earlier (witch and fairy) less that £10 for both, and I've ordered a tutu and a Chinese silk dress. Also got her a music set, aqua draw and 2 of the happyland play sets so that's her birthday and Xmas sorted. DS has a wormery, frustration game, children's atlas and I've found a good set of books, will just get him a couple more board games probably then just stockings to worry about. DD2 only has a taggies book so far. Would it be really tight to not get her anything else? She literally doesn't need anything, we have so many baby toys already and DD1's old clothes, they're still in such good condition I don't want to buy more just for the sake of it. Will still cobble together a stocking, can get a sign made for her bedroom door, plus some weaning spoons and other small bits I need to buy anyway.

Aethelfleda · 23/09/2013 18:35

seven, I had that issue with DS last year when he was one oblivious I recommend getting to an NCT sale, they often have looking-unused/in-box items for very low prices, and have saved me many a quid in Xmas expenditure!

And I went back to work today. dS liked nursery. It's early days, but I feel like a legitimate part of me is back where it belongs. Yay. Just hope I can get permanent work fairly soon as it is a lot more reliable than shift work (and more satisfying). Anyway, yay.

NorthernChinchilla · 23/09/2013 19:58

Hey aethel that's great news, good for you. Given what you do is a real vocation I can well imagine that it feels good to be back. And fantastic that DS is enjoying nursery too.

Welcome back Oi! Sounds like a fabulous break, am very Envy especially given the two six-day weeks I've had to do. Was it any better than 'not murdering' or not?

Do take it carefully with the sprain Queenie, a bad one can be almost as bad as a break- I've known it take months to heal for some people. Sure yours will get better swiftly, but no extreme housework for you my lass Wink

So hope it goes well for you Chip- let's hope we're both in by Xmas! I put the offer in today, no other competing offers, and am going in with all the paperwork to prove we have a mortgage for them to try to flog me a mortgage so they get the commission fat bloody chance first thing tomorrow. Will request they stop taking viewings and will just get on with it asap.
Please let this be the one- I felt on the verge of a panic/asthma attack I was so stressed this morning....

QueenofClean · 23/09/2013 20:08

Aethel happy 1st day back at work.

Northern I've been so frustrated today not being able to walk properly and do stuff and it's only day 1!

PerilousStiletto · 24/09/2013 08:17

Thanks Seven.
Aethel - i well remember the joy of going back to work to become me again. Congratulations. Best of luck in finding something more permanent soon.
Love the idea of a dressing up box, Seven. I may steal that. But no, don't get the LO anything for Christmas. They are oblivious. Just wrap up some stuff that you already have - maybe hide a few bits at the beginning of December.
"Was it better than not murdering DH" - well, we've been released fromRelate. There's nothing to work out anymore. We just have to work at being together, rebuilding trust, learning to love again. The holiday was a lovely break. I turned my phone off at the airport and didn't switch it back on again, and he did similar. There's nothing like strong all inclusive vodkas, hot weather and general nakedness to get one in the mood, so we enjoyed ourselves a little more than usual. Shock
By the second half of the week he did begin to irritate... But it was ok.
We're trying.
But I keep looking at other men. Day dreaming about how they'd be better - what life might be like. Or at a more basic level, what I'd like to do...ShockShock Can't help it.
That's not very healthy, is it?
Anyway, must stop that. Must not start thinking that that smile meant anything more than just a smile...
Must concentrate on DH.
Good luck with the house sales and purchases. Pita. I was hoping to get some work done on ours before Xmas, but now dh's sale has fallen through, we're probably going to have to start paying another 1/2 mortgage and council tax soon, as his house share partner is moving out...
We got a call from the estate agent at weekend. She felt dirty after showing a prospective buyer around! The house was disgusting and they didn't know where to stand in the garden as there was dog shit everywhere.
We had to bleach, scrub and decorate the place last time to get it ready for sale, and now after 6 months of him living there we're going to have to do it all over again. Filthy bas*d! We need to get him to pay for contract cleaners, don't we?
(He won't.)
But we need to sell. The state it is, anyone renting it wouldn't respect it. They'd have to be students or something. Grrr!

MY eyes hurt i am so tired after the manics last night they were i will admit amazing!! Knew a lot more songs than i realised i would and they are super talented musicians. Strangely we knew 2 of our best friends were going too so met them for drinks beforehand, missed support act while we were chatting in the bar and then when we went to our seats turned out we were literally sat next to each other....what a coincidence!! Didnt get to bed until after midnight and then ds was yelling 6.15 think his antibiotics have kicked in as we are back to 6am onwards wake ups .....when he was feeling a bit squiffy he was sleeping until after 8 every morning.

Peril that sounds terrible about the house that fella needs a good arse kicking making such a mess, i am sure you will be more than capable of delivering it Smile.

I am now putting off all xmas thoughts for now as am skint!!!! DH has a specialist appt at the local hospital which he has gotten in on 2 months early due to a cancellation which is great unfortunately it is on the day we flying home from seeing my family, have had to shell out another £125 for a new return flight for him, he has no money i have £30 until Monday out of which we need shopping on friday, petrol, road tax and my car insurance isnt paid yet. Things are getting bad, he has applied for a couple jobs and put his CV online has heard from 15 agencies yesterday so his skills are obviously in demand but with his mobility issues he can only look very locally and that cuts options substantially. Will have to dip into savings again this cant continue.....cry cry.
