Ok - whinge mememe post alert!
summary of last 3 days - when we left off on Thurs I had just been to GP...
Me: I have had a headache for 3 days, pain in my calves, light headed, feel sick. Def not a migraine. Low blood pressure? Low potassium?
GP: all normal in pregnancy, go home and grit your teeth for 2 more weeks.
GP: just ran it past maternity unit, they are v concerned, go straight there
Maternity unit: headaches bad, keep in overnight and see if oramorph helps.
Then followed night in antenatal, slept like a sedated log with the oramorph, headaches were back in morning, blood pressure sub-90, had a CT scan with baby bump wrapped up in lead blankets. Scan clear, headaches continued. Some bright spark registrar thinks it may be the codeine I'm on for SPD causing headaches so no more codeine. Senior house officer thinks it's the size of the baby pressing on veins and nerves and large blood volume. my own consultant thinks just normal pg aches and pains
They wanted to keep me in another night to give me paracetamol and observe me. I said I can do that at home and observe myself, in my own bed without lights going on all hours. So I discharge myself and now have an A4 sized bright angry red disclaimer pasted into my notes saying I refused treatment and left contrary to advice!
I did ask, first half joking and then dead serious, if I only have 2 weeks to go and baby already supposedly 8lbs+, if I could just have c-section now, but no chance.
Anyway I think I'm on bed rest now whether I like it or not. With only paracetamol the edge is off the headache for about 2 hours after i take it, then i have to wait to take it again. But without codeine the SPD is genuinely unbearable when walking.
Oh well - I wonder if I could teach myself to knit in 2 weeks to keep me occupied as they said to keep away from screens if at all possible to see if headache improves
