Stupid tesco nappies have leaked poop for the 2nd time today so had to do bath early, so theo of course wanted milk as he knows that's the routine! He is now crashed out about 2 hours early....don't like my chances of keeping him asleep all evening!
Love both the thread names Dinky Smile

SundaySunshine · 25/10/2013 20:35

Boo to leaking nappies beginning I heartily recommend Aldi nappies, they're very good and stupidly cheap (we have had a few messy incidents with them but I don't think any nappy could have held those poonamis at bay)

Dinky I love your thread name suggestions. My vote would be the sleep one, still on two hour wake ups here and it's killing me! Hope J is feeling better today, poor lamb x

clenching your party antics made me laugh, it's so true about 'women of a certain age' wanting to run off with your baby. Scary thing is I know for sure that will be me in a few years!

dinkystinky · 25/10/2013 20:57

He may surprise you Beginning! I second Sundaysunshine- Aldi nappies are the bomb (and only a fiver for a ginormous packet!). And they can hold in minor J poonamis (as the child can go for up to a week without a poo that is ALOT of poo when he has a minor one - major poonamis nothing can stop!).

Sunday - am sorry you're on 2 hour wake ups but its kind of reassuring me that I'm not alone in my hour and half wake ups after J's initial block of sleep! J had a truly awful reaction to the new meds the Dr prescribed him (3 days in a row, rigid, screaming furiously an hour post meds and impossible to calm down) - have spoken to the Dr and taken him off them and back to the old meds and have decided just to embrace my lot in life (rather than go with Drs suggestion of stopping BF and putting him on neocate). The reflux will pass eventually and till then, well we'll muddle on through it.

Took J swimming today which he loved, and applied for his passport for our trip to Berlin in December, which is sounding surprisingly soon all of a sudden. Off to Dorset tomorrow for 4 days, back to the hotel we went to when I was pregnant with J back in June! Am hoping for a lovely chilled time...

MrsRoss26 · 25/10/2013 21:05

Just popped on to say cheek i'm rather jealous! C did just start being a lot happier on her own, but is yet to settle (or even not just lie there screaming) in her cot. Fingers crossed it continues for you!

Dinky I love the thread title suggestions, please let's have the sleep one!

MrsRoss26 · 25/10/2013 21:06

Oops, and have a fab trip away!

Beginningofthejourney · 25/10/2013 21:42

I only got tesco's nappies because I was low and was in tesco...I will stick with Aldi!
Theo did wake but fed and was in bed just after 7 (doesn't seem to stay in bed until he has heard emmerdale theme tune!)
Fingers crossed J's reflux gets better once you start weening and he sleeps a bit more, poor bubba! Enjoy you hols

Abzs · 25/10/2013 22:19

I thought the tesco and aldi nappies were almost identical. Both have leaked poo up his back, anyway.

We've taken the plunge and gone on to TotsBots. First three poos contained satisfactorily, well, one was a bit close to the leg but caught in time.

Thinkingofmyfabfour · 28/10/2013 13:08

I was about to suggest tots bots abzs we've not had a single leak since starting to use them when M was about 5 or 6 weeks!

dinky sorry to hear Js reflux is causing such problems. I think it is at it's peak around 16weeks so hopefully it will start to improve soon. M is more pukey but not overly bothered luckily, just getting through lots of muslins and bibs every day

I was at a party this weekend too! We had all the kids with us as there were lots of other kids going. They lasted really well with minimal fighting, and being up late helped with clocks changing too. M was a wee star, all smiles and looking gorgeous! She's still getting up at least twice a night which is less good but nevermind
Schools are back so the school run is on again but luckily it's a lovely still sunny day up here
Hope you guys further south are staying inside out of the storm, stay safe x

dinkystinky · 29/10/2013 16:36

Fx its at its peak Thinking - we had 4 days in Dorset and J has another bloody cold causing several epic chunders ( including one that was like something out of the exorcist - all over his head, me and the hotel bed!). Don't think out can get much worse than it is now!

Hope everyone was OK in the storm. We spent most of our time in Dorset in the hotel - fortunately it had a pool, spa and playroom (thank god!) - and a very understanding house keeping team!

cheekbyjowl · 29/10/2013 22:59

its quiet on this thread but we all have far less time now we have infants. glad you had a spa dinky to somewhat compensate for the chunders. poor j. I hope he soon grows out of his tummy troubles and you get an easier time soon

thisvJoseph has reverted to type abz and needs a lot of entertaining. hes quite enjoying standing when supported at the moment so weve bought a jumperoo from eBay and will see if he likes it, but if anyone has any more discoveries on things I can do to entertain him please share. he likes the mirror, burping and having his bits out, he takes after his father Wink

cheekbyjowl · 29/10/2013 23:03

oh for those with super soaker boobs ive found the Johnson pads to be the best so far, although they come with a built in nipple on the outer side which is a bit odd.

cheekbyjowl · 29/10/2013 23:06

I might try aldi nappies if people recommend them. weve tried the boots own brand but they didn't work too well so weve been using pampers but they are expensive

Silver15 · 30/10/2013 02:41

Cheek, I'm currently using Aldi nappies and I do recommend them.

Dinky hope the cold passes soon.

Not so much going on here. I had a blocked duct and it was very painful feeding through it. It seems to be getting better.

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 30/10/2013 04:21

We don't have a lidl or Aldi nearby, so we're still using pampers. I've just switched to baby dry and had 2 poo leakages in 3 days. Is it just bad luck, or are baby dry not as good as new baby for containing poo?

N was baptised at the weekend, so it was pretty hectic with family over. We didn't really notice the storm - a bin blew over during the night, but that was about the extent of it. N is coping fairly well with the clock change, but DD1 is now up at 4am instead of 5 and totally overtired because she refuses to nap.

N has her vaccinations in the morning. She was ok the last two times, so hopefully it'll be ok again.

Just waiting for the 4 month sleep regression to hit.....

Beginningofthejourney · 30/10/2013 10:11

Sleep regression is well and truly here! Sad was just getting used to waking just once a night! Which leads to T being grumpy in the day time. On the plus side we have started to get giggles when he is happy! Smile
I generally like Aldi nappies but don't want to tempt fate but committing myself! Lol

SundaySunshine · 30/10/2013 11:21

Re sleeping, I read somewhere (maybe on this thread?) that babies get a bit freaked out if they wake up in a different situation to what they feel asleep in, so if they fall asleep on the boob they get rather ratty when they wake to find the boob has disappeared. I have to say that L does seem to sleep much better, and wake up much happier, if he self settles when I put him to bed at night. Easier said then done but that's my plan of action. Also I tried pampers baby dry for night time nappies but he didn't seem to appreciate the extra cost, so I'm going back to Aldi's for nights as well as daytime.

cheek my 4 year old DD does a lot of entertaining L, but in other times I do baby massage, dance around to the radio, a free sensory group once a week, we read lots, he diggs his play mat (sitting propped up, or laying on back or tummy) I put him face out in the carrier and go to the shops/school run - he loves having a good nose, or he sits in his bouncer watching me cook/clean the house etc. he also gets to go to lots of parties (that DD has been invited to) and gets whisked away by lots of broody mums!

Mrsd77 · 30/10/2013 14:56

Hi. I hadn't heard about 16 week sleep regression. Will one of you wise ladies fill me in please so I'm braced and ready?!

cheekbyjowl · 30/10/2013 20:51

Thanks Sunday. It's the 'sitting' part that J doesn't seem to care for - i can carry him around the house with him on my head (like a poor-ladies carmen burana) which amuses him a little but he whinges if he's made to sit and watch me do anything - he does like the sling though and the rainforest bouncer- also found sensory groups to be great.

I've also wondered about waking in the same place they slept in. J smiles if he wakes boob-ward (who wouldn't) and seems shocked if he suddenly wakes in the car - but it's not always practical to keep him still for nap.

MrsRoss26 · 30/10/2013 21:00

Marking place

Will pop back, promise!

dinkystinky · 30/10/2013 21:37

Check Shivs thread - awesome developments afoot with Oliver!

Cheek for j its all about the hands - holding types, batting toys, eating his fingers - and watching other kids. Puppets also a hit - ds1 and 2 love entertaining him with puppet shows (using socks as puppets if need be).

dinkystinky · 30/10/2013 21:39

Mrsd - sleep normally goes to pot around 4 months - look at wonder weeks app or book - there are so many developments this month their usual routine goes to pot

Mrsd77 · 30/10/2013 22:04

Thank you. I've only just heard of this book too! Where have I been?! Mr eBay provided me with a 99p copy that is on its way. I'm now wondering what else I don't know!!

Abzs · 31/10/2013 02:56

Crossed fingers please. Just boosted a nappy with a face cloth. Is 2.45 really the time to be experimenting?

dinkystinky · 31/10/2013 08:13

Brave lady Abzs - hope the experiment paid off!

Abzs · 31/10/2013 11:17

Well, shan't be paying for anymore 'official' boosters just yet. He had that nappy on for 7 hours and no hint of spillage. Tesco value facecloths may be the way forward.

In other news, I have finally got an appointment for someone to look at the endometrioma I grew at 10wks pg. It's not until december, which is rather later than the 6 weeks after birth my obstetric consultant had wanted. But I'm guessing the GP did the referral and had to wait for my notes to turn up, which I know was after my 6 week appointment with them.
