  • Vinegar. That teaches me not to type and eat ice cream at the same time- it's far too distracting!
StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 20/10/2013 00:25

Hope you enjoyed the party, Clenching!

ClenchingPanda · 20/10/2013 08:51

Party was great, thanks - the boy came too, but he was immediately snapped up by menopausal women desparate for a baby cuddle so I got to enjoy the full use of both my arms. Also, I totally rocked the 'skinny jeans, heels and a muslin tucked into my belt loop' look Grin.

Now DH has gone to run a marathon in a thunderstorm whilst I am at home in bed feeding the boy and watching Strictly on iplayer.

Scoutfinch I think there are quite a few scattered across the SW (not me though...).

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 20/10/2013 12:42

Glad you had a good time, Clenching.

It's pissing with rain here and I'm stuck inside trying to entertain a cranky overtired toddler and stop her poking N. all I want to do is snuggle up with N & watch tv.

Beginningofthejourney · 20/10/2013 17:14

clenching I'm taking T to a party tonight (who has a party on a Sunday?!) so planning of rocking to muslin over the shoulder with skinny jeans and boots look! Hoping to avoid the vomit over every thing look!

dinkystinky · 20/10/2013 21:20

Beginning - J is on 1.8ml Ranitidine 3 x a day and 1.5ml domperidone 3 x a day. He was 14lbs 3 weeks ago and I suspect needs his dosage of ranitidine upping as his sleep has gone to pot again of late. Princessllama's H is on omeprazole caplets - when I saw her this week (she is queen of reflux) she told me she thought J's dosage may need upping as he's a big boy (in 6-12 month stuff already for length)...

Glad you had fun at the party and started a new fashion trend Clenching - look forward to seeing the muslin look on the catwalk soon.

Hope B feels better soon Vinegar. DS2 ill with a virus here over the weekend so v quiet weekend at casa dinky this weekend - am hoping J avoids it but as DS2 has been coughing on all of us I rather suspect we're all going to come down the lurgy soon...

PhieEl06 · 20/10/2013 21:44

Talk on the Facebook group of MN names has got me feeling guilty about not coming on in ages! I hope all ladies & their lovely babies are okay! Smile

Abzs · 21/10/2013 12:46

Charmer J has been in action again. We did the long journey down to the Midlands for a significant birthday for one of DH's relatives. Was worth it, we haven't seen most of his cousins' DCs ever one is 8. J was very nicely behaved, and even got praised for his excellent public feeding Grin

He was a bit grumpy in the car on the way back, had a fit of shouting about going back in his seat and was too busy trying to see what all the other people were doing at the services to feed properly so we had to stop twice in 30 miles. This was after we'd gone 30mins in the wrong direction on the M6. Hope DH is not asleep at his desk today...

dinkystinky · 21/10/2013 13:03

Sounds like abit of a nightmare journey back Abzs - glad J was at least a delight at the gathering [hgrin]

My J has suddenly turned into the amazing no sleep baby again (at nights at least) - 2 hourly wake ups have turned back to hourly wake ups (and no big fat sleep to start the night off). As he's still a couple of weeks off 4 months am really dreading the 4 month sleep regression - presumably he'll be waking every 20 minutes then... Though today, to make up for no sleep at all last night, he has at least slept 2 and a half hours and now done for over an hour...

cheekbyjowl · 21/10/2013 15:58

Oh dear dinky. Have you had a good night sleep since he's been born? I'm also dreading 4 months as joe is very sporadic with sleep.

Abz glad you got to show the little guy off, even though the journey was broken. We're hoping to take this j off to meet his great grandparents but means 400 miles of driving in total

I'm thinking we'll need to make the transition to cot soon. Can anyone recommend a good baby monitor

dinkystinky · 21/10/2013 20:21

Had a sweet couple of weeks where j managed 7 hour sleeps back at start of September cheek - sadly those are now a most distant memory! We have a Bt digital one we have used for all 3 boys which does the job. My neighbour has one where she can see and hear her baby which she swears by.

PhieEl06 · 21/10/2013 21:16

Cheek we have a Tomy basic one £40 about 2 weeks ago in mothercare, we think it's great, does the job, has a light, plays sounds which we haven't used yet & tells the temp in babies room.

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 21/10/2013 21:34

We have a very basic tomy monitor that my parents had knocking around for years. It doesn't do anything fancy except sometimes pick up neighbouring/ghost babies Works perfectly, nothing fancy.

We moved N from her crib to a travel cot a few days ago because she kept losing limbs through the bars of the crib. She looks so much more comfortable! Just wish she'd sleep a bit longer, although with 2-3 wakings per night I can't really complain. The main problem is that DD1 is up every day from 5-ish.

Beginningofthejourney · 22/10/2013 09:14

I just checked on Oliver's thread...he is back at his local hospital now, on a bit of oxygen and 3 hourly feeds! Sounds like hopefully they are heading in the right direction :-)

Abzs · 22/10/2013 09:51

We have a tommee tipped closer to nature monitor. Has light, temp and two way sound. Signal isn't very good though and a bit of a delay on it he's upstairs, not in Russia. A friend had a motion sensor one with a pad and had to put a board in the bottom of the cot as it doesn't work if the cot base is made of slats.

Going to see the Dr about the umbilical hernia today. Well, not the hernia, but the rubbing on his clothes and constant rawness. Hoping for better advice on dressing type if nothing else.

dinkystinky · 22/10/2013 13:03

Yes things seem to be moving in the right direction for Shiv and Oliver - long may that last!!

J has now been given Omeprazole in addition to his other 2 meds (as his sleep is terrible again) though quite how I'm going to get 7.5mls of the stuff in him I have no idea! First attempt today ended up with it all over his face but v little making it to his tummy. FFs. So not the maternity leave experience I envisaged when pregnant with him!

Hope the drs can advise re the hernia Abzs - sounds painful!

Abzs · 22/10/2013 13:46

Strange thing is dinky, it doesn't seem to bother J at all. The size of the actual hernia is decreased but it's the cycle of rubbing and scabbing over then rubbing again that bothers me. He's been prescribed some steroid and antibiotic creams, and I'm told I'm doing the right thing by not dressing it.

Hope your J's extra meds help him, when he gets used to the idea of taking them.

Great news about Shiv and Oliver!

cheekbyjowl · 22/10/2013 14:38

ok so tomy sounds good. we have a tiny house so doesnt need a cosmic strength sensor. I think after our south coast trip we might make the transition.

dinky im sorry j is still suffering so much from his reflux.i dont know much about it but perhaps it will stop when he goes on solids? abz glad you got medical advice on hernia. is it something that self heals?

Joseph seems to have had a personality transplant over the weekend. hes always been so fractious but for the last two days hes just smiled and chatted and played independently , which has Never happened., im usually squating down next to the activity mat or dancing round the room. then I just tried putting him in the cot for a nap and he slept with no fuss Grin Grin who is this child? im so happy I had to share! Grin Grin

Abzs · 22/10/2013 15:41

cheek He was mine. May I have him back? Please? Pretty please with sugar on?

ClenchingPanda · 22/10/2013 19:38

Yes, Autumn/Winter 2013/2014 is all about working the fashionable draped muslin look. I will also be releasing my first fragrance - 'Eau de Felix' which is brimming with the aroma of baby vomit, with top notes of dried milk and baby poo.

Beginning hope your Sunday night party was fun! My maternity leave days all melt into one another so any night is party night!

Dinky sorry to hear your reflux issues are going on and on. Sounds so stressful and must be awful to see J struggling. Hope that omeprazole is a help, and that the end is in sight sometime soon.

Absz glad that the hernia doesn't bother your boy, but again it can't be easy for you to see it looking so sore. Will the hernia go away or will he need an op?

I took F to work and out for dinner yesterday. He very much enjoyed charming my colleagues by smiling and babbling and vomiting all over the terrifying coordinator, and it tired him out so much he has slept pretty much all day today. In other news, I went for my first run today. Not very far or fast, but I am still alive and my pelvic floor remains in my pelvis rather than somewhere around my knees as I'd feared. It's all good.Grin

dinkystinky · 22/10/2013 21:41

Abzs - the umbilical hernia should go by itself. J has one but doesn't sound as pronounced as your j's as it hasn't rubbed raw on clothing - it has gone down lots though and his belly button is close to being an innie - he's been rocking thge onesie and dungaree look for a while when it was at its worst as we found elasticated trousers made it worse.

Clenching -glad you and F had a good night out. Am impressed that you have trained him to chunder to order like some kind of baby hit squad.

Cheek - J sounds a delight. Ds2 was a fractious baby who suddenly turned as corner and became a smiley delight. J more a smiley baby like ds1, when not fighting meds or sleep or an overtired mess...

Abzs · 23/10/2013 12:36

Clenching Well done on the running! I had a dream about running, it ended with me crawling off the training field in bits. It's obviously an omen.

The hernia is going down, much reduced already. It's neither an innie nor an outie at the moment. The GP & HV say that intervention would only be considered if it hasn't resolved itself sufficiently at a year old. No issue with trousers - J has never managed to wear a pair at his waist; he always has the crotch swinging round his knees [baby gangster emoticon]

16 week imms this afternoon.

Silver15 · 23/10/2013 13:57

Hello

I haven't posted in a while but been lurking.

Glad Oliver is getting better.

Abz hope the steroids work.

Dinky sorry to hear J is still struggling with reflux. Hope the new meds work for him.

Re. Monitor, I have an old Tomy that I have used for all the boys.

J is getting bigger and but keeping me awake. He is more active at night and ends up sleeping all morning.

Panda I'm envious of the run. I need to get more active otherwise won't be able to shift this weight.

dinkystinky · 24/10/2013 20:40

Hmm J has been uber grumpy baby today - trying to figure out if its the new meds, teething or just lack of sleep (last night was an all time low - and his day time naps today have been bloody hard work too). Ho hum. On plus side took him to a little music class today which he really enjoyed - lots of staring around intently at the other babies and hitting himself in the head with a maraca Grin

dinkystinky · 24/10/2013 20:46

Ooh we need a new thread soon how about "July 2013 - Part 2 - All I want for christmas is a good nights sleep" - or is that just me? Or (to be sung to the theme of Rawhide) " Rollin', rollin', rollin', gotta keep those bubbas rollin', side to side!"
