First thing tomorrow, that was meant to say!

Bloody phone has a mind of its own.

MrsRoss26 · 19/09/2013 03:58

Is anyone up & on here in the wee hours anymore?

Abzs your day sounds horrendous, you poor thing. I hope there's no major damage done to the ceiling. And thank goodness kettles can be replaced very cheaply these days - tea is the only thing holding me together at the moment! Fx that and the woodburner can be replaced / fixed quickly.

SNFED and those already on bikes: I take my hat off to you Grin my bike hasn't moved since we moved house (pre-conception!) The thought of cycling with C is rather daunting. For now our walks with her in the sling will serve as our only exercise. How is everyone doing with post-pg fitness (& dare I say, weightloss?) I feel so much stronger than I did in the final months of pg already!

Hullo everyone too Smile keeping up to speed on fb is far easier, but I miss this place being bustling too. Stop in and say hi!

Abzs · 19/09/2013 04:35

Completely agree re tea MrsRoss. The kettle was replaced immediately, that's how the washing got ruined on. Sneaky cloud snuck up on me while I was in tesco.

Abzs · 19/09/2013 04:37

Rained not ruined.

Ffs think this tablet is taking lessons from dinky's

Silver15 · 19/09/2013 06:52

Good morning

Abz Hope yo wood burner gets fixed soon.

Im just lying in bed wondering how I will shift this weight. I saw my tummy in the mirror yesterday and really hated it. I look 5 months pregnant. I can't do much exercise as I'm not fully recovered from spd and can't diet as my supply of bf is still low. Swimming is hard as I react badly to too much chlorine. Just being near a pool gives me very itchy eyes.

6+3

dinkystinky · 19/09/2013 15:32

Silver - can you try Pilate? Will strengthen back, pull abs in and make your body feel stronger as a whole.

Vinegar - hope the bathroom work goes swiftly and smoothly.

Abzs - hope you get your wood burner fixed v soon.

After a day of no sleeping yesterday j is sleeping for England today. He also rolled over (front to back) three times in as row this morning so suspect developmental surge combined with cold was cause of crap sleep yesterday and last night.

Abzs · 19/09/2013 16:32

Weighed today - 6.75kg or 14lbs 14oz in real money. Over a stone!

No rolling here yet, but today he didn't cry immediately on being placed on his front. It's a bit strange; his head control is excellent when sitting or leaning upright but he can't lift it very well at all. He mashes his nose into the mat by pushing with his feet instead.

Off to apply olive oil to the crocodile hide cradle cap.

Beginningofthejourney · 19/09/2013 20:19

I got Theo weighed today he's 15lbs 10oz. He loves being on his tummy (when he's not too tired!) and can move backwards already!
Abz what a nightmare day hope you get everything sorted.
I don't cycle but my friend lives in holland and she cycles everywhere with her two boys on the bike, think the big one on the front and little one on the back, I can't remember how old they were when they 1st went on it.
16 weeks (10 weeks corrected!)

VinegarDrinker · 19/09/2013 21:06

Right, popping in from the building chaos to chat bikes. Sorry in advance if it's long!

At this age the only options are trailer or Bakfiets-type cargo bike (very pricey - think £1.5k minimum). With both you'll need an infant insert until they can sit up themselves (we have the Weber infant seat). We use a trailer for mainly financial reasons, it was £150 on eBay and is a decent brand (Croozer). You can get cheaper ones but you do get what you pay for by and large. Also with the trailer I will be able to drop them at nursery, leave the trailer there and ride to work.

B has been in it since 8 weeks, would have been earlier but I am a bargain hunter and had to wait for a second hand Weber seat to become available! I use it with both kids every day, doing 15-20 miles/week on London roads. I usually opt for quieter roads mainly because I don't really want them sitting breathing in loads of exhaust fumes. Safety wise people give you loads of room, much more so than with baby seats. Mostly I think they are thinking wtf is that! We have a baby on board sign stuck on the back and it has a flag, too. You can tip the bike right over and it has no effect on the trailer. They aren't designed to be used with helmets - the design incorporates a roll cage in the very unlikely event you did somehow manage to tip it.

From approx 9months (when they can sit up and hold up their heads plus weight of helmet) you can keep using the trailer obviously but you can also move to a one in front/one behind strategy. I will probably have B in a Bobike mini upfront and DS1 in a Hamax behind because rear seats tend to have higher weight limits.

I could go on... and on.... but feel free to PM if you want more details!

Silver15 · 20/09/2013 06:23

Thanks Dinky, will try Pilates.

Abz and Beginning, Congs on the weight gain. I haven't weighed J in a long time as I keep forgetting to go to the HV clinic. Will definitely go next week on Monday.

Thinkingofmyfabfour · 20/09/2013 10:25

Just popping in to say hi, will catch up properly later. Life is pretty busy just now!

MrsRoss26 · 20/09/2013 17:41

Afternoon all Smile I have a question. C had settled herself into a really great routine, with big daytime naps. The last couple of days though she has been upside down, cluster feeding in the wee hours (4am+) then really cranky in the afternoon. She's also started drooling a bit and today she has fed almost hourly (we had been on 3-4hr gaps). Could this be a development surge, or possibly teething? I'm not sure if I can see teeth buds under her gums. Sorry for the long one!

dinkystinky · 20/09/2013 19:42

Frenzied feeding sounds like a growth spurt to me MrsRoss - though she could be a starting to teeth too.

MrsRoss26 · 20/09/2013 21:13

Whoops, completely forgot to add that she's 8+1. All a bit perplexing, though obviously not worrying.

notprincesskate · 21/09/2013 05:24

Morning all, I have totally neglected this thread, in my defence it has been a combination of A sleeping at night, and the tablet having been munted by the toddler, so FB so much easier on my phone, but now said tablet fixed and A decided to wake for first time in weeks, ( it best not continue!) so here I am.
Just been catching up, mostly our daytime routine consists of whatever A wants with naps needing to fit around other activities or when K is not waking her, I'm hoping for a bit more of a nap routine when I get around to sorting the bedrooms and putting up a cot for A. Bedtime I'm a bit more strict about, so that we can have our evenings back, and generally A will go down between 7-8, and then a dream feed at 10-11, and not be up until at least 5.30, with tonight being an exception, so at 12 weeks I think she's not too shabby really.

My biggest (literally) problem is my butt (and the rest if me!), I have at least 10kg to lose and need to retrieve my willpower (from wherever it is cowering) and address my diet and lack of exercise to start getting some of it shifted, sadly I'm not one where the weight just disappears......anyone got any top motivational tips?

Right finally asleep again, so back to bed, I might even get an hour before K leaps out of bed, full of beans, will try to keep up more......

shelley72 · 22/09/2013 07:29

Popping in to say hello and to see how everyone's doing. Seem to have been busy this week, with birthdays, school, poorly dds. F continues to be a joy - she's so happy, she sleeps (now in her Moses for the first 6 hours)- she's just lovely. Have a feeling she may pay us back in teenage years!

Notprinceskate its not just you. I also put on about 10kg whilst pregnant and its not just dropped off this time. I can't fit into last winter's clothes and can't really afford to replace either. All rather desperate really. Am trying to get out and walk a bit more but my back still isn't right so it's not helping that much. Having said that we are munching our way through two birthday cakes so I shouldn't be too surprised! Am in awe of all the cycling and yoga going on.

I'm keeping busy now schools started again and so trying to keep the PND at bay. Well I know it's still there but I'm trying not to dwell too much on everything. Though I still look at F and feel sad sometimes. That's an awful thing to say isn't it when I DO love her. I'm sure I do. She's fab. I'm just not quite there yet.

shelley72 · 22/09/2013 07:30

Sorry that didn't make much sense did it.?!

Thinkingofmyfabfour · 22/09/2013 22:13

shelley makes sense to me! Glad you are getting there

npk I'm lacking in motivation re exercise too. I know I should make the most of the weather before its winter but im bloody exhausted most of the time. My weight is slowly coming down so I'm not too worried about that, but I'd really like to be fitter

Gorgeous day here today. Hope it continues. M remains pretty settled apart from before school run and late afternoon, so quite managable overall

10 weeks tomorrow! Where has the time gone?

VinegarDrinker · 23/09/2013 12:36

I'm the opposite, cycling loads but weight seems to be going up if anything! Grrr. I'm not restricting food, but trying to minimise junk.

StillNoFuckingEyeDeer · 23/09/2013 14:05

Vinegar. Thanks for the cycling info. Are you gaining weight because you're building muscle?

All my weight fell off in the first 2 weeks, but I'm slowly gaining weigh with my BF munchies and lack of baby squishing my stomach. I think I'm actually still under my pre-pregnancy weight though Confused
I need to get fitter and tone up my non-existent abdominal muscles.

VinegarDrinker · 23/09/2013 19:44

That's what I keep telling myself... Maybe I need to get the tape measure out. Still a good size if not two up from where I would like to be.

ReikiMummy · 23/09/2013 21:07

Am back to below pre-pregnancy weight.... won't stay that way though if I don't lay off the biccies :S

wavesandsmiles · 23/09/2013 22:41

Found you again! Small baby plus house renovations plus job hunting pretty much entirely took over my life. Will properly read and update soon. Hope everyone is ok

cheekbyjowl · 24/09/2013 18:56

Hello

My phone's broken so i've been absent for a while.I lost my weight then started putting it back on again due to too many maryland cookies and cornettos being on offer :( I have a family wedding to go to in 3 weeks so will try and stay off the chocolate. Perhaps i should do what you're doing Dinky and stay off dairy but i think i'll find it tough. How's it going for you? Was that definitely the cause of J's upset.

Shelley - i'm glad F is such a happy child . What are the things that bring you most joy? I really love the 'talking' it's wonderful

Im a bit stuck for ideas about what to do with J. We sing songs, have some activity mat time, read a bit, go for walks and i tried him in front of the piano today (he's no mozart) but running low on inspiration. It's often just him and me and i can only hold his attention for about 15 mins before he gets bored of whatever we're doing and is't content in his own company. What are other babies doing?/enjoying

10 weeks ish i think x

Beginningofthejourney · 24/09/2013 19:15

cheek it can be hard to entertain theo, discovered today he was happy in his bouncy chair in the garden watching the trees while I mowed the grass! We go to baby group one morning and swim one day. Otherwise lots of 'singing' chatting, tummy time etc he also loves having a bath that kills about half an hour every evening!
I also need to stop eating cakes biscuits etc! And maybe do some kind of exercise.
