Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Oh glorious so sorry to hear about the allergies. If it's any consolation at all, my just-turned-3 DD1 got some blood test results and she is no longer allergic to egg Grin. She had egg when she was about 8 months old and terrified me when her whole face swelled and she screeeeeeeeamed. We had an epipen and got good at vegan cake-making. The only downside is that now she has a peanut allergy as well as the dairy one so we're back to the hospital for more tests, but it is proof that they can outgrow them. She had her first hard-boiled egg for her tea today!

Bought a bowl, collar and proper kitten food for our new addition today. I am eternally optimistic that it will become tame in a matter of days and not run away from me forever

salt1 · 07/10/2013 20:06

Love to all the sick babies. We almost have crawling but still no teeth x

glorious · 07/10/2013 20:12

Yay angielka , that's brilliant Grin I have read that egg allergy often goes away. Did DD1 enjoy her boiled egg? Are there any books or sites you'd recommend for egg free baking?
E had a swollen neck today as well as the hives Sad but not as dramatic as your DD's first reaction by the sound of it. It just comes up so quickly and I can't always work out why it's happened.

glorious · 07/10/2013 20:13

Nut allergy bit not brilliant though Sad

Angielka · 08/10/2013 07:54

DD1 was very happy with her boiled egg Grin and this afternoon after nursery we're going to make our first cake with eggs in! TBH I just googled a lot of stuff, but there are very good vegan cooking blogs and the bbc good food site also has some stuff. Plus peta has a guide here if you want some extra reasons for going vegan Wink I have a book a friend gave us but a quick look on amazon shows me there are loads about. IME the more you do, the more you know what to substitute.

One thing I was told was that allergic reactions usually happen very soon after the food is eaten, so if it's after BF it's a bit tricky because it could be something you ate a while ago, but if it's after food, then it's one of those elements that E just ate. With DD1 the swelling and spots went after a couple of hours. It's horrible to see, isn't it? Sad

How are all the sick bubbas?

lollipoppi · 08/10/2013 09:47

Hi all

DD is doing much better now, she has come out in a rash all over her face, tummy and back, it's either a reaction to the antibiotics or part of the infection. I think I've gained a few grey hairs over the past few days!

Hope all the other poorly bubbas are on the mend?

Angielka that's so cute about the cat!

Lostbobbles · 08/10/2013 13:22

Lolli, sounds like Viral rash, Lois had it a while ago. Good to hear she's better.

We seem to be on the mend, but think teeth as annoying her as she's a bit temperamental.

Glorious, sorry to hear about allergies hope you get your referral appointment quickly and get them diagnosed. Must be such a worry!

Angie, what have you named the cat? Good news on boiled egg and enjoy cake baking.

Ordered the petrol blue footmuff and went to baby gap to stock up on socks this morning little look in Zara, several ££ lighter later oops

Lostbobbles · 08/10/2013 13:23

Sorry Pascha, how's your DS1?

glorious · 08/10/2013 15:48

Thanks for the tips angielka , I really appreciate it cos I love baking so I'm a bit sad about cakes. Hope you enjoy making the cake Smile I think it must have been the plum yesterday and eggs through my milk from huge hotel omlettes on holiday based on timing. She largely eats what I do so it's not likely to be anything else through my milk. Or possibly it could be from traces on a restaurant highchair? As you say, the reactions are almost instant and gone within a couple of hours.

Sounds horrible lolli Sad Thanks

glorious · 08/10/2013 15:51

Oh and thanks lost . The petrol blue is my favourite colour, good choice Smile

LetThereBeCupcakes · 08/10/2013 18:45

Sorry to hear of all the allergies. My niece has only recently grown out of her egg allergy (aged 15) and was very excited about trying boiled eggs for the first time. She hated it!

Socks are obviously the thing to buy at the moment. Bought some today in Peacocks, so not as fancy as your Gap socks, Lost! I just had a look at the Zara website, such beautiful clothes. I can never seem to find much for DS, everywhere I go there's loads for girls and hardly anything for boys.

I think Dog 1 has an ear infection. Deep Joy. It's a two person job to get drops in and DH is working away for at least another 3 weeks. Don't suppose anybody fancies coming to my house twice a day for 7-10 days to pin down a 35-kilo Labrador whilst I put drops in his ears and he howls like he's dying, do they?

Angielka · 08/10/2013 19:20

Don't worry glorious you can still bake! Good luck for the tests. Skin prick ones are not much fun I'm afraid. DD1 howled, but it's so much better to know exactly what is off the menu. You want to avoid seeing too many swellings and spots Sad

Oh no cupcakes that's the kind of thing that puts me off pets. That and the whole learning to love an animal so much and then it dies thing Good luck with the drops. I can't even put drops in my baby so I'd be no help with a big dog

Actually lost we could do with a bit of help naming the kitten. I asked DD1 what we should call it and one day it was Naomi, the next it was Amy, then it was some long complicated made-up name. We need something androgenous that we can all stick to and remember. I'll put a photo on my profile and you can tell me what it looks like!

LetThereBeCupcakes · 08/10/2013 19:23

Angiel I like Seefa for a cat (Seefa. C-for. Get it?). Dog 1 brought in a cat's collar not long ago with the tag "fudge" on it, which I thought was cute. Don't know what he did with the cat, though.

Angielka · 08/10/2013 19:29

C for cat! Genius cupcakes Grin oh I wonder what happened to fudge... Bloody kitten got stuck up a tree this evening and was meowing pitifully so I pottered about finding bits that might help it get down, went over with a big plank to help it and the sod was already down.

I've put up a newer picture of Molly as well as the kitten shot - anyone else fancy sharing what the kiddies look like now? I'm curious nosy as the old pictures are so old all of a sudden. Little people are really emerging.

LetThereBeCupcakes · 08/10/2013 19:34

What a pretty kitten! For some reason I think of Phantom of the Opera - must be the markings on her face. Would suggest Phantom, but you would have to like Fanny for a nn!

Your children are lovely too, btw :)

mrsbugsywugsy · 08/10/2013 19:47

glorious houmous has sesame seed paste in it, could it be that?

angiel both kitten and baby are adorable. Is the kitty male or female? I like old fashioned human names for cats like Eric or Kevin or Mabel. Has it been neutered? Might be worth getting it sorted if you don't want a whole family of kittens in a few months time Grin

AppleCrumples · 08/10/2013 20:39

Hi all been busy chasing Ivy out of places she shouldn't be!

Sorry about the allergies, tho i didn't realise they could grow out of allergies. I hope allgoes well with tests.

Hope poorly babies are feeling better.

angie dd1 suggests petal for your kitty (please note everything is currentky called petal) i was thinking about updating Ivy photo recently bur can't remember how i got a pic on there in the first place!

Ivys new game is to pull the crappy wallpaper in the living room off Hmm

She has also discovered she can actually leave the room by herself eeek! Stairgates being put up before she discovers the stairs. She is cranky again as teeth are on the move.

Angielka · 08/10/2013 21:07

You're right bugsy getting it neutered is one thing I know I need to do, but getting within a metre of it without it running away will have to come first... it's a bit wild and getting used to us. No idea if it is male or female either! It won't come in the house, sleeps in the shed but now comes for food, so I'll put the bowl in the doorway to start off with and try getting it tamer that way.

Tell DD1 we will give 'petal' serious consideration (as in, I will ask my DD1 what she thinks) Apple thanks! BTW for the photo you go to my mumsnet, my photos and then upload.

AppleCrumples · 08/10/2013 21:17

Thank you angie. Am worried my brain has fallen out recently Confused

We used to have a cat, we called her Susie (!) then she turned out to have extra bits Grin

Pascha · 08/10/2013 22:06

I thought Shadow as soon as I saw kitty. Angie your dd looks very cute. More hair than my boy (as does pretty much every other baby I should think! Little baldy)

Updated pic of Dan now on my profile. He is now proficient at pullling up using the open door of the dishwasher but absolutely nowhere else Confused. He is very very fast at commandoing - can move 20 feet in approximately 10 seconds, usually towards the cats water bowl or DS1's shoes which he loves to chew.

Pascha · 08/10/2013 22:08

Grin at extra bits Apple. PILs took on a rescue cat, they called him Dibnah, til he turned out to be a girl so they renamed her Susie.

AppleCrumples · 08/10/2013 22:18

pascha Dan is so cute!! All my older dc were bald til at least their first birthday and also blonde. Ivy has lots of hair and is dark! Its a good thing dps family are mostly quite dark haired etc or questions might be asked Confused

glorious · 09/10/2013 05:18

bugs thanks, yes I did think of sesame, it's just she's had hummus so many times (maybe 6?) without any problems. She's had plum once before and went a little red but it was ages ago, before we knew about the egg, and I'd forgotten as I didn't think anything of it at the time Blush

Must get on my computer to see all your pics and add one. angielka I bet the baby names addicts would help name your catSmile

Angielka · 09/10/2013 08:11

Apple Grin extra bits Grin well Susie seems to be a very popular choice!

Pascha Dan is a sweetheart! Isn't it lovely to see their characters shining through Smile

Glorious I have found the cat discussion threads... repeat to self: must not spend all day on MN

lollipoppi · 09/10/2013 09:01

Angielka DS1 suggestion is miaow!! I don't think he understood the question Smile

Need to get in the computer to see all these beautiful babies! Il attempt to update mine too later!
