I for one have a very surprising baby.

OP posts:

WillYouDoTheFandango · 24/08/2013 09:19

Oops then I hope they will give you some.

We're 3 down then, 2 to go!

itsMYNutella · 24/08/2013 09:45

5 nights of loooong beautiful sleeps Hmm it will happen, it will happen, it will happen!!!

spotty I hope they have some insulin for you! And I hope DD gets better quickly.

equimum hello Smile yes DS is a bit of a hooligan. Full of beans or "high spirited" would be other ways to describe him... But I think babies & small children don't do what they do on purpose so I hope the other mummies don't think he is a bad babyConfused

DS is still waking 2-3 times most nights... Perhaps he is about to start proper crawling/pulling up Confused nooooooo. I'm not ready for that! He'll be 8 months in a couple of weeks...
Re 1st birthdays... Hmmm DS is 1/1 and DP is 3/1. DP has said he might like to start celebrating his birthday on 3/7 (so celebrating his half birthdayGrin- in the sun) and when he is old enough we'll ask DS what he would like to do. But 1/1/14.... Hmmmm perhaps a celebration on the nearest weekend?? Except then 5/1 is grandpa's birthday Confused

utopian99 · 24/08/2013 10:38

Someone suggested that using their naming day as a birthday would be a good way to use a significant day that's not too close to Christmas. I think when ds is a bit older we could ask if he wants to as that would be.September 14th but this year we'll just do small family birthday on the actual day (27/12)

Thinking of getting him a few small.cheap.crinkly toys to open and putting the other money into his fund as he won't really be aware of things yet.

We have a top tooth fractions of millimetres from breaking through. Poor shouty man.

SpottyTeacakes · 24/08/2013 12:40

I got some from the very yummy pharmacist Blush WinkGrin

WillYouDoTheFandango · 24/08/2013 13:26

DS wants to and does climb up the incredibly sharp-edged TV table. He also wants to open the drawer in it at the same time as he's balancing precariously in front of it. This has disaster written all over it!

itsMYNutella · 24/08/2013 13:47

Willyou I finally let DP buy a new telly (it.is.huge!) and one of my fears is DS pulling on himself/ pushing it over because he is sooooo obsessed with cables. All the things on the tv stand are also fascinating to him, the buttons on one of the gadgets, the flappy bit on the front of the DVD player and the telly Confused yes, I have a strong sense of impending doom!

Utopian I want a wipe clean mummy top right nowHmm I am wearing: breakfast, lunch, baby snot and probably some mummy milk right now... Grin

SpottyTeacakes · 24/08/2013 19:11

Dd's got a spotty rash where I've been putting the cream on. Is it possible to be allergic to clotrimazole?!

Ds bit grumpy today but didn't nap longer than 45 minutes at a time which isn't like him. His poo was a bit rabbit dropping like Hmm tbh he doesn't eat much fresh fruit but has plenty of purée, fresh veg and water. He still goes at least once a day so I suppose I needn't worry?

Maryland2013 · 24/08/2013 19:19

Spotty DS occasionally has the rabbit droppings but I just try to give him more water after that and it goes away again.

Poor DD.. Perhaps the cream went on too thickly? Is it making her itch, the cream I mean?

SpottyTeacakes · 24/08/2013 19:22

Yeah he didn't have much water today but had loads yesterday.
It doesn't seem to be bothering her. She's got that sort of skin though always getting rashes. Good idea about it going on too thickly will spread it thinner and see if it makes a difference, thank you Smile

lazzaroo · 24/08/2013 21:04

Deep breaths....took about 10 mins after they arrived for MIL to ask if baby lazza was sleeping through yet, FIL has called dd1 a little madam & drama queen about a million times (along with repeatedly commiserating DH for living in a houseful of girls!) and have faced a number of comments about the fact I'm still bf.

spotty baby lazza is struggling in the poo department some days! She s still going but it's hell of an effort sometimes!

SpottyTeacakes · 24/08/2013 21:16

No one has said anything about me bf ds still luckily. Squirt some in his coffee Wink

lazzaroo · 24/08/2013 21:23

Nice idea spotty, although it was actually coming from MIL this time. And I never understand why they are obsessed with her sleeping. She asks about it EVERY time we talk. It drives me insane! Probably doesn't help that DN (the golden boy...DH's nickname!) was bottle fed & apparently a wonderful sleeper Hmm. Must work on my polite smile for tomorrow!

PurplePidjin · 24/08/2013 21:26

I've been asked about my "extended" breastfeeding.

Bottle feeders, please don't take this the wrong way, it's intended to slap down judgemental, sneery types, imo a fed baby is a good thing and how that happens is none of their fucking business!

"Why would I buy McDonalds when I've got top quality organic for free?"

lazzaroo · 24/08/2013 21:30

Nice comeback pidg...I'll be thinking it...wish I was brave enough to say it! Smile

PurplePidjin · 24/08/2013 21:39

Or simply "Why waste the money?"

If all else fails, have a good long rant about Nestle in the developing world Wink

SpottyTeacakes · 24/08/2013 21:44

Ds really doesn't like feeding from me anymore Sadhe just pulls away still matched on and pushes me and kicks me. The only time he feeds nicely is first thing in the morning really.

IsThatTrue · 24/08/2013 22:07

pidj I always tell people that I don't want to pay for formula. But tbh I won't stop until he/I want to. Whenever that is!

Spotty :(

PurplePidjin · 25/08/2013 02:51

Spotty I'm both dreading and can't wait for R to stop bf. So many emotions tied up in it.

There are many many reasons why people go one way or another, my jibes are put downs for insensitive twats and not intended to judge people who use formula.

2blessed · 25/08/2013 03:04

Great response pidj. My stock answer is that when I stop bfing is between me and my ds.

Not posted in a while, been quite busy.

Took ds to discover on friday. He had a great time roaming around, we'll definitely go back soon. Highly recommended.

2blessed · 25/08/2013 03:07

Sorry, Discover is a story centre based in stratford east london. Its very interactive, promoting literacy and imaginative play.

SpottyTeacakes · 25/08/2013 06:48

Same here pidj. I know it will be easy to stop feeding him but I do feel sad that he seems quite indifferent to it!

5 heaped tbsp and 1/4pint of milk for breakfast!

Barbeasty · 25/08/2013 07:42

Good luck with the bbq willyou and the christening lazaroo

There was vague mention yesterday from MIL about extended feeding, I think there must have been someone on tv saying how normal & natural it was to still be feeding a 5yr old. I was non-committal and muttered something about not particularly wanting to still be feeding once A starts school.

I must be more tired than I thought. I discovered yesterday that I hadn't taken my pill since Wednesday. And if I'm honest, I have no memory of taking it at all last week, and only know I did because I know I started the packet when we got back from holiday. Scary!

We have a 2nd tooth just broken through. Maybe that's why he's been so nippy.

SpottyTeacakes · 25/08/2013 08:05

Oh yes WillYou have a lovely BBQ. Lazza hope you have a lovely day Smile

Beasty I'm rubbish at taking mine but we never have sex anyway Wink plus DP knows I want another baby and he's the one who doesn't so he should take responsibility for it Grin

Barbeasty · 25/08/2013 08:34

Yes, no danger of a 3rd, more shock at my lack of memory!

I need to think of something to do today where I can play with my ring sling. I decided it was the easiest way to carry DS, a car seat, 2 nursery bags and have a hand free when I get the DC from nursery. My bara barn arrived yesterday (lovely postman saw us about to go out and came over to our house early) but we were out most of the day, so only got to try it very briefly.

SpottyTeacakes · 25/08/2013 08:35

I just did an online reservation with homebase (it's a nightmare going there with dd) and only when I'd finalised it did it say it won't be ready until after 1pm Hmm I think that's crap. How long does it take them to get a few tins of paint?!

Sorry pointless rant but now we're going to have to get it ourselves and I will lose my quidco cash back Angry
