Good idea pidj!

itsMYNutella · 20/08/2013 08:49

Sorry, totally off thread me me me post coming...

We had to go to an official appointment thing this morning where we signed lots of documents and promise we're not already married etc etc.
Then the lady asked me what I wanted to have ConfusedConfusedConfused
DS has DP's name because we want to be a family. But I'm not sure I can be Mrs DP's name - I just think of MIL ConfusedHmm
Help! DP wasn't impressed Sad

WLmum · 20/08/2013 08:51

No idea utopian surprised that aqueous cream made it worse, poor ds. If its a golden weep/crust it could be impetigo but he's a bit little for that. Hope you see a good dr.

WLmum · 20/08/2013 09:03

nutella I found taking dhs name a big deal but did so in the end as I wanted us all to have the same name. I was also mrs a jnr, but now since bil got married I'm mrs a jnr snr which makes me laugh, and I like there being a gang of mrs a's!

SpottyTeacakes · 20/08/2013 09:09

Oh utopian I'm having this dilemma (not engaged yet but you know Wink). I HATE dp's surname and love mine but I don't want to be different from the children. I friend of mine put her surname as a middle one on her dd's but its a short name whereas mine isn't (yours isn't either is it?). I honestly think I might keep mine and if dd or ds want it when they're older they can Grin

WLmum · 20/08/2013 09:11

Just sent a little begging message to some old colleagues - decided I can't wait! Fx (but doubtful).

WLmum · 20/08/2013 09:31

spotty its not too late to double barrel?

WLmum · 20/08/2013 09:33

The dc I meant! Then you and dp can follow suit if you want or at least the dc can choose to drop one and in the meantime connect to you both.

SpottyTeacakes · 20/08/2013 09:35

I've thought about it but I was thinking five syllables would make everyone a bit Hmm

IsThatTrue · 20/08/2013 09:40

Malt bread and peach is a good enough breakfast right?!

SpottyTeacakes · 20/08/2013 09:46

Ds loves malt loaf!

WLmum · 20/08/2013 10:04

Porridge made with ebm stinks! No wonder she doesn't like it!

utopian99 · 20/08/2013 11:25

Have you tried fruit puree in with it to disguise the smellwWL?

spotty did you mean nutella re surnames? When I married dh I wanted to take his name because I'm a bit 1950s like that, but still found it weird being Mrs dh in that I felt like it was mils name BUT three years on I'm getting a lot more used to it and I like us being a unit.

utopian99 · 20/08/2013 11:27

Oops, not wwl, sorry!
Doctor says ds has a bit of excema that has somehow become infected. We now have anti bac cream so hopefully that will sort it..

SpottyTeacakes · 20/08/2013 11:29

Argh yes sorry utopian I seem to have misplaced my brain this morning Confused

Dp's surname is Randell....bleurgh it just reminds me of the mean one in monsters inc.

SpottyTeacakes · 20/08/2013 11:30

Utopian we've used that cream when dd's dermatitis gets infected its really good and works very quickly

IsThatTrue · 20/08/2013 13:01

utopian that could be why the aqueous cream made it worse, it's not recommended for eczema. Once the infection is gone aloe Vera gel (I get aqua pura on prescription but its available on amazon) is brilliant on eczema.

I woke in the night asleep in our feeding chair with DS in my arms. I'd been there at least an hour. Shock I never even did that when he was newborn. I must be more exhausted than I thought!

Well after only malt bread and peach for brekkie, DS ate a fair chunk of omelette (with tomato, red pepper, brocolli, sweetcorn, ham and cheese) for lunch. I should stop worrying when he has a bad meal really.

jackandjilly · 20/08/2013 13:33

Joining in on the topic of marriage, I was the opposite. I really like dh's last name but hated my own so was quite pleased to swap in some ways. However I did feel that part of my history was gone so it was a bit sad too. 6 years in and I really like the fact we all have the same name. Totally personal choice though.

Anyone here take out the word obey from their wedding vows?

utopian99 · 20/08/2013 14:03

All my friends did - we wrote our own and I deliberately put it in! Dh likes to remind me that I said it now, it's become a bit of an in-joke between us... Grin

Good tip on the aqua pura is that, will go and look on Amazon..

Maryland2013 · 20/08/2013 15:43

I didn't say obey in our vows!

DS has horrendous cough. OOH dr at weekend gave him a salbutamol inhaler as he struggles to breathe in between coughing. Feeling v upset cos I have asthma/ hay fever etc so he will have for that from me (daft I know). We also have cats and I'm hoping to god he's not allergic to them like I am but won't get rid of them!

IsThatTrue · 20/08/2013 17:05

I didn't say obey in my vows although I did get married in Vegas so I doubt it's included very often there

utopian99 · 20/08/2013 18:43

Maryland my dh is allergic to cats but we have Turkish van cats so he has no reaction as they don't shed the allergens. If you ever need get other cats (I know, awful to say, I hate thinking about it) they're well worth considering, and are very good natured.

Dh had to promise me cats for me to agree to start TTC. I really owe him another DC though as we have two cats! Wink

Maryland2013 · 20/08/2013 19:36

That's interesting thanks Utopian, ill google those cats! I thought only the bald ones like Rachel had in Friends would be allergen free!

Barbeasty · 20/08/2013 19:45

maryland DD was the same around 1yr (although she had the brown one, not blue) but hasn't needed an inhaler since.

A slightly better night last night (4 wake ups) but up at 4. So shattered now.

But I refused to put A on the floor due to all DD's mess, and when I came down from putting DD to bed DH had tidied up.

Maryland2013 · 20/08/2013 19:46

Gorgeous cats utopian! Do yours like the water?!
