I for one have a very surprising baby.

lazza T still falls asleep on the boob most nights as its unavoidable doing 3 bedtimes flying solo. I'm usually feeding her while reading with dd1. It doesn't seem to be too much of a problem.

I am scared by the rate Ts movement is progressing - she pulls up on everything and is starting to cruise. Dd1 said she let go with both hands for a second earlier (not sure that dd1 makes a reliable witness though) and this evening in the garden DH set her up with a push along and I thought she'd collapse but off she went.
Highlight of the day was her finding it hilarious when I sniffed her! We played sniffing for about 20 minutes straight!

PrunellaDeVille · 18/08/2013 21:32

WL Grin love the sniffing fun

Thanks a belated happy birthday Utopian.

on the nap topic - has anyone else's lo dropped their afternoon nap already? C has dropped his three times in the last week, it's something I was dreading as he barely naps anyway and I certainly wasn't expecting it to happen so soon.
so now he sleeps 9 - 9 (usually with 3 wake ups) then 30 mins ish at 11.30 and 3. is he getting enough sleep? sounds like everyone else's los are getting far more.

SpottyTeacakes · 18/08/2013 21:39

Pru ds does 7-6 nap 8-9/10 then nap two hours after wake up for 1-2 hours.

If he only has an hour at each morning nap he might need a shirt afternoon one but not usually

WLmum · 18/08/2013 21:45

T usually sleeps 8-6 ish, then naps 9.30-10.30/11, then again 2-3/3.30, but today she only had 1 hour this morning and about 30 mins this aft.
Babies vary hugely in their sleep needs. If he is happy and not grouchy with tiredness then he's getting enough for him even if not for you! T sleeps much more since she's started moving so much.

pmgkt · 18/08/2013 21:46

Haven't posted for months but been watching.
Pru ds does 6-7 nights, 9-10.30 and then 1-3 ish. This has been his routine for a few months now and even if he naps early he won't have another nap. Does that help?

PrunellaDeVille · 18/08/2013 21:59

gosh that's some mighty fine sleep pmgkt.

I should say he used to nap at 11, 2 and 5 so it's his 5pm nap that's vanished and the other two have shifted slightly later.
but it sounds like it's not too far off the mark afterall

ISpyPlumPie · 18/08/2013 22:38

What's my baby best at? That'd be either spending the most miniscule amounts of time in the cot after bedtime before waking himself and needing resettling, or exploring potential hazards that were completely overlooked by his big brother thus rendering all previous childproofing efforts completely inadequate.

We still have a morning nap about two hours after waking lasting anywhere between 5 mins Hmm and 45 mins, and a post lunch snooze of around an hour (more on a good day). Still get the occasional nodding off around 5.00 pm but this is becoming much more hit and miss.

Many happy (belated) returns Utopian.

Good luck back at work WL.

WLmum · 18/08/2013 22:53

Just given T a dream feed as she didn't eat any tea. Also want to maximise cuddle time before tomorrow [sob].

WillYouDoTheFandango · 18/08/2013 23:34

Good luck for tomorrow WL

J's ridiculously unsettled. Went to bed at 9, been up twice for a cuddle already. 8 month sleep regression is definitely upon us.

utopian99 · 19/08/2013 02:04

Good luck with tomorrow WL! Lots of cuddles for you when you get home I hope..

WillYouDoTheFandango · 19/08/2013 04:55

Ugh we've had a bad night. I'm actually starting to wish for morning to come. I've had to give him 2 bottles tonight too. Reassure me that's okay after he was down to 1 max? He screamed until I gave them to him and attacked them like a starving wildebeest Confused He has been really tired today so maybe massive growth spurt?

Self doubt and maternal guilt back again!

SpottyTeacakes · 19/08/2013 05:43

Oh no WillYou definitely fine must be a growth spurt Smile

5:30 wake up here because dd came in Angry

2blessed · 19/08/2013 05:50

Good luck today WL

Reading with dread about this 8 month sleep regression, we're only just getting over the 5 month one Confused.

SpottyTeacakes · 19/08/2013 05:56

I'm dreading it too 2blessed. Ds will be nine months at the end of the month but was 5 weeks early so we might still get it...

WL I really hope you enjoy today just think: adult conversation, hot cup of coffee and lone toilet breaks Smile

Barbeasty · 19/08/2013 07:05

I think we're well within the 8 month sleep regression, or a growth spurt or something.

A finally fell asleep on me last night, and I got him successfully into his cot. Before I'd finished cleaning my teeth he was awake and crying, so he started the night with me.

Every time I woke up, and it was at least 8 times between 10 and 4, he was either latched on and feeding or screaming because he wasn't latched on and feeding.

I eventually got him to sleep at 4, by sitting on the edge of the bed, and into his cot for a restless 2 hours until DD woke up.

Naps are anyone's guess, although he has settled into a morning and afternoon 45 minutes at nursery.

PurplePidjin · 19/08/2013 07:44

9 months today :o

pmgkt · 19/08/2013 07:48

The night before last was really disturbed. E was up 7 times, only needed a dummy in, but he hasn't been up in the night at all for months. Anyway next day he started crawling, I remembered what I read somewhere about disturbed sleep when they are learning new skills and I think that is why you get these sleep regressions

WillYouDoTheFandango · 19/08/2013 08:39

Well I hope he's a quick learner Pgmkt. We were up at 11, 12, 12:30, 2, 4:30, 5:30, 6:00 and DP took him away at 7:30 and brought him back at 8:15 when he was leaving for work. My eyes hurt.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 19/08/2013 08:54

Sorry Pmgkt I misspelled your name

jackandjilly · 19/08/2013 09:42

Hope work is ok today WL

Happy belated birthday utopian

Sorry to hear dp is being an arse spotty, I have the same issues with dh over cricket!

Sounds like some of you are really getting rubbish sleep, hope things improve quickly.

Dh is taking dd out today so I can meet a friend for lunch at wagamamas nom nom! I'm taking ds with me because he still can't cope with twoShock

itsMYNutella · 19/08/2013 09:46

Hello pmgkt I don't want DS to progress his crawling - he is fast enough already! arggghhh he is just 7.5 months and cable obsessed!

willyou I know the feeling! I can't go back to it, so we've decided to try a bit of sleep training...

utopian happy belated birthday! I got a changing bag for Christmas - it was what I wanted and it seems practical to give gifts that people really want/need as opposed to finding something else... I often buy DP nice clothes as presents.

phnarg well, my power napping baby wasn't interested in a nap earlier even though he was tired. And what is better than a tired baby?
That's right, a tired baby who is extra tired from a bit of sleep training and said baby has a cold... yipee!! What fun Confused

DP was settling him back to sleep through the night - it involved tears and a bit of screaming (DS mostly) but he went back to sleep without feeding - which was what I really wanted, I'm just too wimpy to do it :(
Very impressed with DP's skills!

So I gave up on first nap attempt. Showered, had breakfast with DS - who promptly threw his baby friendly cheerios on the floor. Then I tried again and this time he went off pretty quick :) yay!

I think we might also see a couple of extra teeth on the bottom soon too Confused

DP has agreed to help this week because his work week is fairly light & the weekend was pretty bad.

Anyone have any tips for lingerie under a wedding dress? I fancy a strapless dress - wedding is in November. I'll probably still be BF (for the big boobies Wink

IsThatTrue · 19/08/2013 13:33

Is there a sleep regression around now? DS has been awful the last few nights. I was putting it down to being out of his routine on holiday. But since we've been home hrs been worse. Last night he woke absolutely hysterical. We had to turn the lights on because he wouldn't calm down in the dark. He was hyperventilating, poor thing. We think he had a nightmare about the wasp Hmm but he's been up 3/4 times a night and waking ever time I put him down.

We also have full on cruising now (complete with tripping, slipping and bashing our head constantly) which means in constantly up from my desk and saying 'ds2 NO!' As he's obsessed with cables and sockets and anything inappropriate.

Sorry for the radio silence from me. These sleepless nights are stressing me more than I thought.

WillYouDoTheFandango · 19/08/2013 13:47

Yep IsThat welcome to the 8month sleep regression club. Up, down all bloody night, screaming the house down, pressure loaded to go off when you lower them onto the mattress. It's a fun time!

WillYouDoTheFandango · 19/08/2013 14:08

And it all becomes clear - we have a top tooth! Yay!

IsThatTrue · 19/08/2013 14:12

I don't like this club! Could I revoke my membership please?

We still only have 1 bottom tooth (came through the day after DH went to India).
